I'm going to go ahead and second John L's comments regarding a slightly uncomfortable feeling at this place, at times.
I stopped in recently and I do believe two white guys I met were uh, a little racist. Of course this has nothing to do with the service but it has a lot to do with the environment. There's nothing you can do about that sort of thing so I am not deducting any stars from my original review.
The service itself remains exceptional. There is a bartender named Jenny who does a great job and she doesn't get sloshed with the customers so she is always on her toes.
This is a first for me on Yelp (and maybe not the last) but I want to say that the bottom line for this place in my original review remains the same, EXCEPT for the fact that those that are not caucasian might feel a little not too cozy here. It sucks but it's how I am calling it.

Here's the scoop on this place. It is a chill, local bar that doesn't seem to ever get loud or… Read more »
My friends and I, looking for a close place to rifle back some beer, wandered into George's Saloon. We're usually the type of people to frequent North Park, so when I'm in an East County bar I'm perpetually shoehorned into the situation by unknown forces.
The patrons there, draped in overalls and John Deere garb, tossed down glasses of Budweiser as they howled unintelligible jargon to each other. The situation reeked of stereotyping, which I'm generally hesitant to comply to, but the wifebeaters and alt-rock music solidified the whole Santee vibe pretty quickly.
The bartender was nice enough, as she slung glasses to the barflies, keeping a good attitude all the while.
The beers consist of Bud, Coors, Miller. If you're expecting a craft beer, you're bound to get an underhanded snicker from at-least one regular.
I really wouldn't recommend this place, unless you want a dude with a Creed tattoo to sneer at you while he hits on a twenty-something girl with a fake country drawl. But if you do manage to find yourself compelled by activities such as "Red Neck Night", I suggest you plop down on one of the stools, plunk a coin into the jukebox, and start singing "Let the bodies hit the floor" with the rest of the gang at George's.
On a side note: Why does this bar carry fantasy novels with titles such as "Dragon Lord"? Oh how the enigma continues.
I am a bartender at this bar and it was pretty rough for awhile things have calmed down alot sorry for any bad experiences anyone has had i do keep everything under control so stop by on a saturday night and see..the skinhead thing is absolutly silly just because people have shaved heads and its in santee doesnt mean their a skinhead i dont allow that racsist shit in the bar that goes for all the bartenders i assure you come on by and you will be more then welcomed thanx
You ever get the feelin you're about to get lynched? No? Maybe it's just me. All I ever hear about Santee is there are KKK members here. Hence "Klantee." Well as far as dive bars go this is certainly a dive. I'm all for dive bars. Just not ones where I get sideways stares. This place has got the all the characters. The local drunk. The regular old guy who hits on the bartender. Had his gangsta wad on the bar. Social Security check musta came in. Strange old lady in the corner. Oh, and the local Klan members. Kiddin. Dunno really. Bunch of good ole boys with the random "you're not from around here, are ya..." look.
I like dive bars but I felt a bit uncomfortable here. Not because I was a minority. Well... yes because I was a minority. I wasn't feelin the vibe and certainly you can feel it in the air. I'm from TX and I've chilled in Honky Tonks and country bars and felt totally at ease. I wasn't even wearin a cowboy hat.
Obviously, no incident. I gave the place three stars. Chill but my experience was uncomfortable, not that it was the bar's fault.
Upon entering this place the loud linkin park music was playing. most of the crowd was at the bar. they had a pool table and what looked like video poker. We were carded and everything was ok, until my fiancée pulled out her arizona ID. The bartender said she could not accept it and she had to leave. even though it is a legal ID acceptable by any place else in san diego. after going into the parking lot there was 2 skinheads in overalls staring us down. after a few tense moments we made our way out without a fight.
