I just picked up my truck and was extremely pleased with the work they did. I had a simple job (installing a hitch to my Honda Ridgeline), but nevertheless, I was pleased.
I actually called the shop last week to get a quote for comparison with other shops and they had the best hourly rate. Ron was who I spoke with and he seemed very nice. He told me middle of the week (Wed/Thurs) is usually better because they aren't as busy.
The shop opens at 7am, so I came in first thing this morning. I met with Ron and he remembered me from our phone conversation. Ron is the manager of the shop (maybe son of George?) and he was really nice/helpful. Ron assured me that the job would take no longer than 2 hours, but apparently it was very simple because they only charged me for half-an-hour's worth of work.
Like I said above, I am extremely pleased with their work and the friendliness of Ron and his staff make it a plus. I am definitely coming back here for future auto work! -

I just got my car back from this body shop. I am amazed at their work, The attention to detail was great. It was more than I expected. Finally I have found people out in the business world who still care about their customers. It shows in the work they do. I hope I never have to go to them again. But if I ever need body work done again on my car I know who to call and not have a second thought of trusting them to do a great job.
I can not thank all of you enough for what you did, it is truly beyond what I expected!

I had a need to deal with my insurance and a body shop for the first time in over 20 years ..... I have been lucky !
I called my insurance and they suggested I go to a body shop with an adjuster on sight to speed up the claim ... a scary , dusty , not to eager staff in a not to nice a street .... I left and called Ron Arth on my way back downtown , to make a future appointment ... he said "drop right in " ... he took care of paperwork and adjusters visit .... got a ride to and from and few days later got my car like new ..
What a great clean , organize place , nice staff and professional ... hope not to need there service ... but I will recommend this fine service and care to anyone who might have a misfortune of needing body work ! -

I have had insurance work done on my car twice at George V Arth & Son. The owner Ron is really nice and friendly and my car looked brand new when I came to pick it up (both times). They had a fast turn around time and had an adjuster on site which made it really easy, I didn't have to shop around for quotes. I just spoke to Renee and told her that I scuffed my car on someone's bumper and she was so sweet! She remembered me and said that if I swing by they can polish off the scruff for free! Love this place!

The best kept secret for 137 years.
I love George V Arth. I was referred through Nationwide after a red-light runner cracked my front end (right in front of the G.V. Arth entrance--talk about serendipity) and I am extremely pleased by their work, their alacrity, their professionalism and their organization.
I have never seen such a clean shop. No smells, no dust, no dirt. Their front room was equally tidy and their employees were helpful and conscientious. They even sent me pictures of my car during various stages of repair. How cool!
All told, my repair took only a week and you can't tell the car was in an accident.
I also got a history lesson from the owner about his shop and the changes that have been made over the years to comply with CARB and the Oakland Museum's construction. Fascinating!
I would recommend George V Arth to my mother...it's that good! -

This is a great shop. They were quick to respond to my call, they saw me right away for an estimate, easy-going when I had to cancel my first appointment to drop the car off and when I had found a piece of my door that wasn't snapping in place right (an easy oversight) they saw me when it was convenient for me!!
Again... this is a great shop. -

I found out yesterday that all the other 5 star reviews are absolutely true!
I smashed in the left rear end of my car over the weekend, jamming the trunk lid closed, and breaking the tail light. I had to pay for it myself, and had no idea where to take it, until I remembered that I pass by a collision repair shop every day on my way to work - Geo. V. Arth & Son. I looked at their webpage and yelp reviews, and was very impressed.
I was even more impressed by my actual experience. I called Mon. to make a 7 a.m. (their opening time) estimate appt. for Tuesday, and was told I didn't need one, and to just stop by. I got there before 7 on Tuesday, and they were already open! Ron Arth greeted me right away, and was very nice. He was very understanding about the fact that I needed to make the trunk functional and fix the tail light, but that I couldn't spend a lot, and am not going to be keeping the car that much longer. I left it for an estimate (they had to pry the trunk open and assess the damage to the hinges and other things), and one of their employees dropped me off at work.
I received an e-mail just a couple hours later, with a detailed quote attached--for less than half of what I had expected! Plus, they were able to do the work that day - amazing. When I picked it up, I couldn't believe how wonderful the car looked--the trunk was back in alignment and everything looked normal again. Plus, they washed it--which I wasn't expecting, since my job was a minor one - under $500.
Everything was friendly and professional from beginning to end, and I am totally impressed. If there was a 10 star rating option, Geo. V. Arth and Son would have a 10 from me! -

I was referred to them from a car accident I had and the guy had AAA so I went to George V Arth & Son because they had great ratings on yelp.
My experience with them was excellent! Very polite, professional, and friendly they called me back when they said they would. First with the quote, second to update with me how things were going with my car, and third to pick it up. I wasn't able to pick it up right away, they made no big deal about it.
I really recommend them because they run a really good business. Great customer service and eager to please!

My Jeep was t-boned on the driver's side last June. I didn't have collision insurance so I had to pay for the repairs myself. My first quote was from Oakland Auto Body, which is around the corner from Arth. They quoted me $5200 plus. I went into Arth, and got quoted $4400. I paid half up front and the rest when the Jeep was done. The job took 2 weeks. They did a great job and it looks brand new. They also washed the car and fixed a long existing problem with the connection of my brake light. The next time I crash a car, I wll use these guys again.

If I could go beyond five (5) stars for George V Arth & Son, I would. Thank God that the person who damaged the two doors on the passeger side of my our vehicle had car insurance, because their insurance provider (AAA) had my car service and repaired at ARTH & SON. The staff was very professional and informative of what was going to be done to our vehicle. Me, (Wife) being a very picky person that I am, I could'nt imagine that after the accident ( FAULT OF ANOTHER), that anyone could repair my car back to looking as it did before the accident.
THANK YOU ARTH & SON FOR RESURRECTING THE BODY OF OUR 2004 SATURN VUE. NOT ONLY DID YOU DO A BEAUTIFUL JOB IN REPAIRING, PAINTING, ETC, RESTORING MY VEHICLE. AFTER PICKING UP MY CAR ON AUGUST 10, 2011, OUR CAR LOOKED BEAUTIFUL, AWESOME LIKE A BRAND NEW VEHICLE AGAIN.
If my husband and I every need a body repair shop again, we will look no further beyond ARTH & SON.

This is, unfortunately for me, the 3rd time that I have had to take my car to George V Arth & Son. With George V Art & Son I know I am in good hands. When I arrived with my damaged car Ron already had pictures of my car from when I had taken it in before and was using those to figure out the estimate without even having the damaged car yet! I got rear ended on 880 in my Audi S4 by a Toyota T100 pickup truck. The truck was hardly damaged, but my Audi's trunk was totally smashed in. An insurance estimator made a wildly insufficient estimate of the cost to fix my car, but Renae kept on the insurance company until they had paid for all of the damage. Everyone in this shop is courteous and helpful. Renae called me regularly to inform me of the progress on my vehicle. Every time I go to this shop their work is always top notch. When I get my car back it feels like new again.

I brought my brand new Honda into this shop after my security gate closed on the side of my car, scratching the whole length of the car and dented one of the doors. They did an amazing job in making it look brand new again with excellent and speedy customer service! Including vacumming and washing my car each time! I recommend this shop to everyone!

Quick background: was in a car accident (not at fault) and this place was recommended by the other car's insurance company. Risky yes, but I took a chance and so glad I did. Great customer service. Everyone there has worked there form15 or more years and has been family owned for over 40years! Everyone I dealt with was very nice, personable and professional. My car looks brand-new. They even waxed the whole car!

My wife was happy with Arth's work on her car a few months ago, so when I needed body work I brought my Honda Fit to their shop. The result was first-rate! And along the way I received regular updates on the progress of the work, and plenty of help in dealing with the insurance company. And when I needed a recommendation for windshield replacement, I called them and got information that I know I can trust.

I've been to this shop twice and had two fantastic experiences. The staff was very friendly and professional, and they went above and beyond in not only fixing the big stuff, but also smoothing out little scratches, etc. so my car looked like new. Great communication and timely service too.

My trunk recently stopped latching. No matter what I did - WD-40, careful closing, slamming, etc - nothing worked. I was told by several mechanics over the phone that they'd have to replace the lock, and that it would cost $400-$500. Ridiculous, but I'd resigned myself to having to pay. I stopped in at George V. Arth because it's right next to where I work, and long story short, they fixed it for free! They took a few minutes out, played around with it, and FIXED it. And when I asked what I owed them, they said nothing - just bring my car back when I had a big job. And I will, believe me.
Also, every single mechanic there smiled at me. Not in a sleazy way, which I've gotten used to from other mechanics - just in a friendly way. They're nice, they're honest, and they fixed my car for free. HIGHLY recommended. -

I have taken my car to Arth & Son twice for body work and both times the service was great, the prices very reasonable and the results were superb. They offered honest options of how the work could be done (on an old car that I wanted to look okay, not spend a lot of money). The cars were ready on time, clean and ready. The staff is friendly and helpful. I can't imagine anything they could have done to make it better!

Dropped off my SUV for a collision repair: repaired rear quarter panel, replaced tailight, & replaced rear bumper cover. A couple other repair shops went straight to recommend replacement of quarter panel, whereas Arth & Son suggested to repair first, and took time to explain why/how this method would safeguard the car's structural integrity (NOTE: repair cost was covered by 3rd party, so i was impressed that Arth & Son didn't simply recommend more costly repair.) Car was repaired in a very timely fashion, received a courtesy call for update, and job was well done.

Today I picked up my vehicle which was being repaired through my insurance company. From the moment I arrived at this auto body shop I received remarkable service. The staff had all the paperwork ready when I came to drop the vehicle off, Ron examined the damage, we discussed what they were going to do and they even repaired a bent bumper (earlier incident) - no charge. The service was seamless. The truck was ready when they promised, looked great and it was spotless. I would give this establishment two VERY BIG thumbs up. They were phenomenal.
