I had a simple DIY repair on the porcelain throne in the water closet. The grommets I needed for the American Standard throne were not stocked in the local Pearl Hardware store. I headed up to 22nd/NW Raleigh in the Alphabet District. Morlan stocked the right parts. Did my DIY--calling a plumber would have cost me a few happy hours! Morgan stocks lots of parts for just about any bath/kitchen plumbing repair.
Since it was my first time at Morlan, I discovered an incredible show room, with displays of all the major name brands of plumbing fixtures and accessories for remodeling bathrooms and kitchens. Who knew? Morlan is on 22nd between the best known Alphabet District walking streets 21st and 23rd. So you may never see this place.
If your throne needs parts or you want to overhaul the water closet or a kitchen, check out this place to get some ideas. They also sell water heaters.
I noticed other reviewers squawked the service. I saw Sales helping customers. I walked up to the desk of a Sales person who looked up my part on a computer, went into the store room and was back in a few minutes with my parts. Fast & efficient & friendly! I will go back!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Kerri L.Portland, OR357822158Jan 23, 2015
We had a bit of an adventure getting here today. The bathtub/shower handles in one of our units was stripped and couldn't shut off. Ron got into the crawl space, turned off the water in the unit, and took everything apart. It didn't need just new handles, but also the splines the handles were attached to. We tried Ferguson Plumbing, a major plumbing resource store, but they had nothing we needed.
Oh no. What now? Geo Morlan, of course, but the only store Ron knew of was the flagship store on Foster. Oh frickin' no again. This means I5 and I-84 on Friday afternoon at 2pm. Well it has to be done, so off we crawl (literally). As we get close to the 405 split, something nagged at the back of my mind; "wait a minute, there's one in the Alphabet District.". Ron says, "get going, girl, on Yelp and get that address." Just in time I found it and we beat a path there. Phew!
I'm not sure, but we may hold the world land-speed plumbing record. Two plumbing stores, I-5 to 405, Alphabet District back to St. Johns, and job done perfectly in about 2.5 hours. Thanks to Geo Morlan and their great staff for the fast knowledgeable help and to Yelp for having all the info. You all saved my resident a high water bill and let them have full use of their shower and tub. Now that's what I call good clean fun!Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - N. The faucets in our bathrooms started peeling, and Home Depot was not super helpful in helping me figure out how to fix it. I stopped by here at the recommendation of our Handyman, and within 2 seconds of looking at the picture, Chano Rocha knew the manufacturer and exact part type. What's more - he mentioned that the handles should be covered by warranty, and worked back with his supplier to get them replaced.
I can't express how much we've appreciated Chano's help. We'll be working with him and the team here for any plumbing needs!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 27, 2009First to Review
4 stars for having them low flow shower heads for 10 bucks! well not really it's for the patience to deal with me and my stupid questions on replacing it. Who knew it was so easy?
This place is nice, huge selection and plenty of people who are helpful. Why not the 5th star? It not be this places fault but maybe that is what going rate is for faucets sinks showerheads and stuff but all the other stuff was so dam pricy.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Matthew K.Longmeadow, MA01Jan 2, 2018
Horrible. Had a broken water heater. Called to get it checked out. Had someone come by, took one look at it and said he was "Unfamiliar with these new water heaters", which by the way they sell, and would have to talk to his boss. Left after 2 minutes without touching a thing. Then we were told over the phone that parts were being ordered and would be in in a couple days (He came on Fri and parts were supposed to be in Tuesday due to holiday weekend). Come Tuesday and we were told the parts didn't get ordered until that day and would be in later in the week and that they would come out again at some point. Meanwhile we have been without hot water for over a week.
Called another company and described the situation and they said they have parts on hand and that it is usually a quick fix. Called this place back and mentioned that and asked why it was taking so long, they said "you should probably just go with the other place". Thanks.
Incompetent with terrible customer service.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - R T.Beaverton, OR33066Aug 29, 2010
The place is beautiful and well appointed. You will pay dearly for products you can find cheaper elsewhere. Our experience is they don't get orders right and after waiting for months for your products, you find they have made a mistake, which in turn takes months more to fix.
Find what you like and go online, you'll get your items faster and cheaper too.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Peter B.Portland, OR1993Sep 30, 2012
Initially, we had a seemingly good customer service experience. Shortly thereafter things went south. They told us they'd get our order to us by a certain date--it wasn't delivered on time. We had to hound them to stay on top of things.
Making matters worse, we were told that we could return any item we wanted provided we had the receipt. I specifically said, "Any item?" and the sale's person replied, "Yes". FALSE. We went to take a shower head back and we were told they don't take back special items. They called the boss, and he told us he'd take the item back for a 25% stocking fee.
If micromanaging people is your thing, and if you like to pay more for what you could get elsewhere for cheaper, then George Morlan Plumbing may be the place for you.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Cam S.Bend, OR2962Aug 21, 2016
Went in to their Bend, OR store to inquire about a shower. Was treated VERY RUDELY by the sales person who, without listening to my request, simply shut me down and automatically said "NO". I tried to explain to him that the Tigard Store (200 miles away) had located what I was looking for but for convenience sake, I wanted to order it through this store, since I live here in Bend.
I'm a builder of custom RV's and am always looking for reliable vendors to work with. After being treated this way, I'm thinking I would NOT recommend them to any of my clients and certainly will move on and not use them as a vendor for my rapidly growing business!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sharon J.Salem, OR02Apr 7, 2018
Finally a trained plumber came out. The first one, in installing a water heater (which was OK), disengaged my hot water circulating pump, The pump did not work after the new hot water heater was installed..
After several calls and missed appointments by George Morlan (without calling me to let me know appointment was not going to be kept-that happened 3 times), Problem in ordering a new circulating motor, not loading said motor on truck to get to the appointment and saying water heater would have to be 1/2 drained to put new motor in (untrue as motor plugged into wall). It goes on and on after weeks the wrong motor ordered etc. etc. finally a knowledgeable plumber came out (Travis) to fix the problem.
Morlan group was told I had a hot water circulating pump when I called them for the new hot water heater (I wanted to make sure they knew and was there an extra charge?) if they did not know how to deal with that they should have declined the job. I paid close to $,1,000 (plus the close to $400 for a new pump motor)and got weeks of frustration and mixed messages. If it is just a hot water heater I assume they are OK but any other issue may turn out to be a problem. The one or two stars are for one nice lady on the phone, the actual water heater installed and especially for Travis as he came out and fixed it great-now working fine.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sally P.Portland, OR04Mar 2, 2018
I recently switched out plumbing trim in a bathroom. Chano was very knowledgeable and helpful figuring out just what I needed and referring me to a good plumbing company to do the work. He was patient, helpful and fair throughout the process - even allowing me to return a couple of items that I didn't need.
