If you can, avoid appointments with Daniela. She is rude, not personable on her best days, and, more importantly, does not do a thorough job. One quickly gets the idea she's not enjoing her job. She will skip areas you've paid for unless you remind her. Then she grudgingly obliges. The other person, Tina (?), is great. Make all your appointments with her.

Do expect to be called last minute to ask to change your appointment time or day.  Customer-oriented they aren't.

This said, my treatments came out well. I did get a total of 12, but had Daniela done her job each time likely would have been done with 8-10 treatments.

The place is scam. It is a switch and bait type of place. They will take your money from you and not provide you with the service that you pay for. They also don't have the best lasers on the market. The technician herself told me this. They have been rude and a waste of time.

I have to say that I had treatments done for 2 years (after a friend recommended it to me) and I'm pretty satisfied. The office is small, but I always thought it was clean, and I never had a problem with scheduling appointments. I had Gina for most of my appointments and I thought she was a total doll, and a fun conversationalist. And I can say that my boyfriend is pleased with the results in the end. FYI, maybe if people tipped on their Groupons, they might actually get better service. People seem to forget that it is someone personally working on you and it's just a nice gesture to tip your laser technician.

Take your business elsewhere and don't be fooled by the citysearch reviews...unfortunately my main source of info at the time of my  2 groupon purchases *sigh*

As other reviewers mentioned I too was scammed of losing a session saying I did not show up for an appointment...ironically they told me on my fourth session after I handed them my second groupon making it only one more session.

As Lama B mentioned the place is really a salon with one room dedicated to the "laser treatment center".  There is no professionalism, no service, and no good hygiene.  One of my appointments one of the technicians had cold cores all over her mouth...yuck!

For those that still have those unused groupons try to get a refund...for those that still have sessions left some tips:

.use email for appointment..a bit easier to get a hold of them and you have hard copies...they rarely give follow up calls and appointment reminder calls.
.if the paper doesn't look fresh ask them to change the paper covers of the bed...twice it looked sketchy with imprints of people sitting.
.be prepared to wait as they tend to overbook and there are times you wait over 30 minutes for your appt.

So I've been a couple more times since my last review and, like before, they were great. I had Gina 5 out of the 6 times and she's great (I didn't catch the other girl's name but she was good, too). Very quick, efficient, friendly, relaxed and it seems the treatments have worked.

I took off 1 star because I was forced to wait a couple times (longer than 10 minutes) because they had scheduled 3 people for appointments at the same time. I mean, the actual treatment only takes about 2 minutes, but still!

I'm a fan for sure and if they run another Groupon special, I'm there.

    + It works.

+ The office is very clean.

+ The estheticians are quick and no nonsense.

    - They shuffle you in and out like cattle.

    - To the point where it feels borderline rude.

+ But they do a fine job and I suffered no burns or any other ickiness afterward.

    - Yes it hurts a little bit.

+ But not as bad as waxing, and much faster.

    - They frequently fail to answer the phone.

+ But really, who cares? It works.

I have done it all...electrolysis, all types of wax etc...laser is the best thing that ever happen to me!!! I found this place through my hair dresser. First tried my underarms and it worked after only 2 sessions!! Went back to get everything done, legs, bikini, hands...it's wonderful.
The staff is very pleasant and professional. Gina was my technician, she is great, easy going, quick, makes you feel really comfortable. Office staff is great, very professional.
    Overall recommend it to everyone.

    Unbelievably rude.

My story is very similar to Siri K's, and if you haven't been there yet don't bother.  You're lucky if they even pick up the line to make an appointment.  Then when they do, the receptionist is a complete and total *unt.  She kept screaming into the phone and when I'd ask her a question, her response was always - "that's what I'm trying to tell you.  There are no appointments."  Total a-hole.  Then of course, when i asked her what her name was she hung up on me.  No wonder why they did the Groupon.  I can't see how they'd pull in new business otherwise.

So far, so good.  I've only gone in for one treatment, will give 5 stars after I've completed my treatments.

It seems like the owner is a no-BS kind of guy, I spoke with him for about a half an hour either on the phone or in the office after my consultation with Gina.  Doing more than half my body, this is one of the biggest investments I've made, and they completely made me feel comfortable and reassured.  What sold me:

1.) They only do laser hair removal, so they know their sh*t.  I would be a little sketched out going to the back of a hair salon or spa, (what really is their specialty? haircuts and waxing or laser hair removal?)

2.) Comfortable yet not outlandish.  This place has 1-2 offices in a medical office, and 1-2 treatment rooms off of a (non-associated) spa.  I'm paying for the laser hair removal, not the fresh orchids or waterfall in the reception area.

2.) A 2 year guarantee (with packages).  I hate getting into that 'business mode' talking about how much its going to cost...at times I felt like I was sitting next to my sister when she was buying her car.  I make an awkward cringe whenever I hear "You're getting a really good deal on this."  Okay, maybe I am, maybe I'm not, but how do I really know?  Maybe I could go to another place, get a cheaper quote for a certain number of packages (although in NYC, I kind of doubt it) then find out in the end that I need to pay for more because the treatment wasn't as effective as originally thought.  Well, I was mostly reassured when they guarantee results.  I'll update as this proceeds.

For the treatment itself, I had a really good experience with Gina; she's very kind, very professional, and very good with the laser.  At times when I was squirming or tensing a little, she took time to compress the area, cool it off with the fan, etc. Just all around good experience.

My friend and I bought Groupons for Gentle Touch. Initially it was really hard to get an appointment because so many people bought the deal. I left a voicemail and they called me back a week later. I was unsure we could get all 6 sessions done before the expiration date of 1 year. However, after the first month I had no problem getting someone on the phone and scheduling appointments. I probably wouldn't pay full price for these treatments but the Groupons were definitely a fantastic value and Gentle Touch does a good job overall.

    ---

Update: 1 year and 5 sessions later, all the hair on one side is gone and there is a little left on the other side. I just bought another package with Gentle Touch.

I used a Groupon and they made it very clear they were annoyed by the Groupon process. They also refused to spend more than 30 seconds on 4 out of 6 of my treatments. Very poor customer service. Did not appreciate the fact that they resented my business.

I am only giving Gentle Touch one star because Yelp makes you. When a laser place leaves you with serious burns, they don't deserve any stars.

I recently went to Gentle Touch two days ago, and was left with such severe burns that I can only pray will heal properly. I immediately went to my dermatologist who told me to be careful about going to discount laser places with prices that sound too good to be true.

When I confronted Gina, the careless technician at Gentle Touch, and showed her what she had done to me, she nonchalantly said, "OK, well let me just refund your money." It was too easy, and when I asked to speak to a manager she told me he was "busy."

I don't usually take the time to bash companies or restaurants on public forums, but I feel I must warn other people, because I would not want what happened to me to happen to another person.
