We always look for great pizza when on vacation and this place hit the spot. New York style and as good as they come. The crust was delicious and cook perfectly. The sauce was fantastic and the toppings seemed very fresh. The Pizza gets a definite 5 stars! We also tried the Egg Plant Parmigiana w/ Cheese Ravioli and finished it off with a Cannoli. Another 5 stars across the board. The Cannoli was Outstanding and probably the best I have had....
Great food and great service making for an excellent overall experience. Give this place a shot! You'll love it.... Come hungry, cause the portions are very generous and very reasonable. -

Order something, anything, with marinara and you won't be disappointed.
Located directly across from the beach entrance at Ormond, this small Italian spot is popular and family friendly. Despite the restaurant being a bit chaotic, the knowledgeable and friendly server helped us navigate the extensive menu and checked in on us frequently.
The menu is equal parts pasta, pizza and sandwiches. Daily specials are listed on the chalkboard by the entrance. We were in on a Tuesday night and took advantage of that day's special: 2 free toppings on any size pizza.
Genovese's marinara is wonderfully thick with a rich tomato flavor and generous amounts of onion and garlic. No watery sauce here. This one can be served with a fork.
We chose a vegetarian pizza of mushrooms, peppers and onions. The veggies were fresh and plentiful, and of course there was the sauce...
We also had the shrimp scampi which had plenty of fresh shrimp and tons of fresh chopped garlic served over a mound of al dente spaghetti. They do seem to love their garlic at Genovese's, and that's just fine with us. However, the dish's downfall was the overabundance of low quality olive oil that drowned out everything but the garlic. Next time we'll take our own advice and stick with anything marinara. -

The dinner salad here was useless. I wish I hadn't ordered it.
The Lobster Ravioli was kinda good but the alfredo sauce was just plain it needed something more like tomatoes in it or something to tang it up a little, it was very rich.
The rolls were good. I'd go back and try some other things, seems like a good place. -

Being in Ormond for Bike Week and the first Friday of Lent, I decided on a large cheese pie. The condo is in Ormond-By-The-Sea so I called in my order and a cute sounding guy took my order, advising me to come in in 25 minutes.
I arrived 10 minutes early, but still went inside to announce my arrival and pay. When the cute girl went to the kitchen to get my pizza, I told her I thought I was way early to which she responded, "Well, I guess YOU were wrong," followed by a schoolgirl giggle. If I were a grumpy old man, I would have demanded to speak with her manager, but something about that snarky remark made me laugh so I left a counter tip.
The pizza, though not advertised as NY-style pizza, is exactly that. Having lived in Boston and visited NYC many times, this is as authentic as it gets. A thin crust, crispy on the bottom and chewy on top, the right amount of sauce and cheese melted long enough to darken but not become rubbery. The pizza was seasoned just right and for $13, the price was spot on for a delicious pie on a day when I had to abstain from slaughtered animals.
Definitely coming back!Listed in: What New American Means to Me:…

I've been coming here since I was a kid. I was so excited when I moved back and was able to order Genoveses again!
The pizza's delicious, crust is perfect. Their pasta dishes are great - all the veggies are fresh.
Yes the ambiance is a little strange...but it's a strip mall and they've been there over 20 years.
I lived in NYC for a while, and this pizza definitely comes close to the best pies I had in NY. -

We came back a second time during this trip so we could try the spaghetti. We shared the Feta Salad which is huge and so good. We shared one order of spaghetti with meat sauce which is also huge and really good. Our server even divided the order into two plates and we still couldn't eat it all. There is another Genovese in Daytona Beach, I think. It is the same menu but one is the original and one is an employee who bought it and kept the menu and food the same. I can't remember which is which. Anyway, it's very good. We'll be back next trip.

I have loved everything I have tried here and the prices are very reasonable and the portions are huge. For 2 adults and a child, the adults each having a beer or a wine, our bill came to about $30.00 and I had enough food for several leftover meals. The sauce was great. My only problem was the salad: iceberg, tomatoes and onion slices with a very plain oil and vinegar.

Serviceable Italian restaurant in a strip mall about a block from the Atlantic Ocean. Points for nice greens in the salad instead of the usual iceberg found in similar places. Friend had the minestrone and said it was very good. Friend knows what she's talking about having been born and raised in Italy. Lasagna was delicious too.

They don't open until 2 on a Sunday and you can't get a slice, you have to order a whole pie, so for inconvenience, it gets a low score. Plus, the ambiance is strange and when you walk in you feel like you're walking right into someone's dining room while they're having dinner. The counter is far away and sideways, and you feel like you're walking to the back looking for a bathroom trying to find it. Can't say how the food is though because unlike most pizza places, you can't get a slice unless it's a weekday during lunch hours (according to the staff). I guess I'm a NY pizza snob!

My favorite pizza. I never liked pizza until I ate here. My husband use to deliver pizza here and said all the ingreients are fresh. We usually get delivery when we order and if you are not into pizza try the fetuccine alfredo or the lobster ravioli served with alfredo sauce.

I've eaten Italian all over the world and this place was one of the worst. I ordered Chicken Parm, something pretty easy and not really traditional Italian but something that I need every now an then. The chicken was horrible, tough, over cooked and poorly trimmed. The sauce was out of a can and was terrible and the pasta was so overcooked that it was simply a lump in the middle of the plate. My wife had linguine with white clam sauce and that wasn;t much better. Avoid this place at all costs, you can get better Italian in the freezer department of Publix.
