A stunning, amazing gem at the north end of Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes region of New York.  Built in 1914 and modeled after a villa in Italy, this resort offers 29 suites and studios.  A huge, immaculately tended garden and yard sits right on the edge of the lake.  Just a few of the included amenities are volleyball, an outdoor pool, croquet, bikes (they have about 8 or 10 that you can just borrow), and 6 different kinds of boats - again, that you can just borrow!  There is a "fitness room", which is nothing more than 2 machines in an old, torn up suite.  But with all the other stuff offered, it really is something you can easily pass up with no problem.

We had a studio, which was a room with a tiny kitchen and a Murphy bed.  When you walk in there is a letter of welcome on the table and a complimentary bottle of regional wine in the fridge. You are then given a turn down service which includes a chocolate on the pillow and a little note that says "sweet dreams".  aww.

Everyone working was so incredibly nice and pleasant, I was kicking myself for not booking a longer stay.  Plus, a ton of celebrities have stayed there throughout the years, like Winton Marsalis, Bill Cosby, and the Clintons.  How cool is that.

Over-priced and over-rated.  It's beautiful to be sure.  It's also god-awfully expensive.  The food is decent but not exceptional.  If you're looking for a romantic weekend the building and grounds may make it a good choice, but otherwise, avoid this place.
