The gelato here is so delicious! Got a size small cup and chose Caramel Brownie Cream and Mocha Rum Crunch as my two flavors. The price was just over $3.
The young man behind the counter was very patient and easygoing. There wasn't much of a crowd at about 10pm on a Saturday night.
I gave it four stars just because of how small the cafe is. I will stop in again when I am in the area. Next time I want to try one of the yummy looking pastries and baklava I saw in the case on the counter. -
Review from Sang P.
Had their Tiramisu gelato. Price was pretty cheap.
However, their gelato was nothing too special This place had great yelp reviews so I might've came with too high of an expectation
Mine just tasted average. To think of it, I don't have much of an expectation for gelato anyway.
I'm willing to come back and try again, since people that I usually trust on Yelp enjoyed this place.
Yes, I trust my fellow yelpers. -

After Breakfast, I stopped by here to pick up a scone for later and some Gelato to have on the spot.
I ordered and cherry and almond scone. I do not know why I did, but probably because it looked good. The scone was very good and the almonds were a nice touch to the monotony of the dense biscuit. The bits of cherry were a nice sweet surprise as well. It was a very good scone.
I also had a Tahitian Vanilla Gelato. I ordered the medium on a biodegradable container. The Gelato hit the mark today. It was not over creamy or icy. The flavor was mild and not overbearingly sweet. It was just sweet enough to keep you wanting more.
The place is small and also make coffee's and tea's. I like this place very much.

Our scooter group ended our ride there and they had the best Pear Sorbetto I've ever had. Not really good for groups because this place is tiny, but it's downtown so it mostly foot traffic they probably get. But i would definitely go there again.

Gelato Vero Caffe has a different array of flavors. I tried the Tahitian Vanilla and Andes Mint. The Tahitian Vanilla had a weak flavor to it. I've actually been to Tahiti and tasted their vanilla so I know the difference. The Andes mint was good. I did appreciate one of their unique flavors that my husband had . It was strawberry and eggnog . You don't see that flavor everywhere and it was really good!
This is not one of those places that I would feel comfortable hanging out for long periods of time . The parking meters only take enough money for a half an hour . I wouldn't like going back and forth paying the meter especially if I had brought a laptop. The space is tiny and narrow so once you have your order it's best to enjoy it outside to avoid being cramped.
The customer service wasn't that great either. The guy helping us had no patience or people skills. If you work with the public you have to at least act like you are somewhat friendly. -

Meh. I went here to try their gelato on a late night foodie excursion. It is open late but I was sadly disappointed on the consistency of the hazelnut gelato. It was runny and icy. My poor spoon didn't exactly scoop up much so I had to literally "drink" it. Ugh. Never coming back!

Teeny tiny little cafe with the best Gelato I've ever had. Seriously. The brownie and caramel cream is outrageously good. The coffee was also very very good, and so I had to have one of each scoop in my little cup. Yes you can do that here, for no extra charge. They have baked goods too, which I've heard are good too. But I'd stick to the gelato, because finding really good quality gelato is hard. There is a small seating area in the back, a larger one upstairs, but be careful up those stairs, they're kind of uneven and the railing isn't the sturdiest.

I've had Gelato in many parts of the world... Outside of Italy, Gelato Vero is by far my favorite. All I can say are two things:
1. Espresso Gelato
2. Pear Sorbet (Sorbetto Alle Pere) -

Sometimes a craving for a sweet heavy carb hits you when you least expect it. I happened to get such a craving when I was waiting for a cab on a Saturday night on the corner outside of this place.
I walked in and asked the lady behind the counter to just give me the best pastry in the case.
She offered the Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake.... Moist, dense yet fluffy, sweet little chocolate chips evenly dispersed throughout...crisp sugary topping....mmmmmmm!!!!
I wanted just a few bites, but I ended up eating the whole thing. I know where to go next time a craving hits again.... -

The employees are very friendly. I love the gelado here. My favorite is the chocolate hazelnut. I'd definitely recommend this place.

This hole in the wall gelato shoppe is an absolute gem nestled in Mision Hills. The lady who served us was great, helpful and suggested various things.
I ended up just getting the Pistachio flavor and it was delicious enough to order just that one flavor without having felt bad not ordering any other, which actually gives me a great reason to come back!
They also serve coffees & pastries (brownie was what a brownie should taste like- chocolatey, moist and peanut-y) and I believe sandwiches, BUT they are known for their gelato and coffees.
I will certainly come back here again, and you should certainly find the time to check this place out.
But then again, it's just my opinion.. -

Got a sweet tooth? Can't find something to satiate your need for a nice cold, sweet, beverage? Starbucks just isn't cutting it anymore? This is the place for you!
Location, location, location. Or so we've been told. Located on the corner of India and Washington, there isn't a whole lot of parking available. But, there are usually a few open spots here and there if you roll around the block. Probably the only drawback I can think of about this place.
Coffee, tea, gelato; the three main items they serve. Fantastic Gelato. They make it themselves. The flavors change here and there based on what they feel like making but the major common flavors are always available.
Service can be kind of slow sometimes because they just do not have the staff to handle large crowds. Considering the way the cafe itself is built, the line very quickly goes out the door. But it is worth the wait.
My suggested drink is the Verocinno: Iced coffee + gelato flavor of choice. Try it, you'll love it. -

The gelato here is really good and they are open pretty late. The location in Mission Hills is nice too. I used to come here back in the day for study groups, and lots of college kids do the same. My only complaint...I wish they had tiramisu gelato or at least a gelato made with Mascarpone cheese...always my favorite.

This spot has been my all time go to spot for years since high school. This spot used to have really good shows upstairs, but that ended a while back, from time to time a surprise show sometimes happen but rarely these days. Cool art shows here, had displayed my art here a few times :) Great coffee, gelato...great place to read, knit, sketch, plugs for your computer n working space upstairs....

After an epic fail attempt to go to Chocolat Cremerie in Gaslamp on a Saturday night...could not find parking at all (and didn't want to pay $20 for parking to get some gelato). We decided to go to come here for our backup.
GELATO: What's the difference between gelato and ice cream? I don't know I just want some gelato! (researched later at home). Less air, less sugar, less fat, churned slower, greater portions of whole milk to cream, not completely frozen-for that rich creamy texture....you got my vote!
I love their gelato! It was so rich and creamy. I got the caramel with brownie, and the tiramisu. My bf got the spumoni. It was sOOOo good, I think i like this better than Pappalecco! Only thing...the portions here were really small, the girl was pretty stingy on her servings, but I guess prices were only $2.75. I wanted more and finished my gelato in less than a minute! I was so craving gelato... -

Ok so this review is reflective of their espresso. If you want gelato, this place is A-ok.
Ok Gelato Vero, I know you have a good quality espresso (Calabria) and I know they provide training, so please go to barista school!!! When you splash my fresh shots into the cup w/ no care for the crema makes me mad. Perhaps you do pour the shots nicely then you slosh the milk in right on top which ruins it as well! Not to mention can you steam milk w/o foam? Foam on cappuccinos=YES, Foam on Lattes or Mochas = NO.
Take a little pride in the art and craft of making espresso drinks. Get some smaller sizes for iced drinks too!
I'll be sticking to coffee from now on, or gelato, but will never make a special trip to see you, even so I can get better gelato down the street in little italy. -

I go here to study on a regular basis. There is a huge study room upstairs and it is really awesome. Just be careful if you want anything from the staff because they are really snappy. If you want the internet access code, even if you buy something, they are not very happy to give it to you. Or, if the music is loud or jarring from the speaker system because they play a lot of indie or weird independent bands, don't expect them to change the track or cd. They tell you to go somewhere else. It can also be difficult to get away from cigarette smoke in the majority of sitting locations upstairs or outside, unless you are sitting at the tiny cramped tables in the corner inside.
I go to Gelato Vero at least once every 2-4 weeks. I have only ONCE had a good experience with the staff in the 3 years I've been visiting. Overall, AWESOME GELATO AND LOCATION! AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE! -

Fair Oaks, CA
My top three places to go for gelato.
Their flavors are always rich and spot on. I have tried their raspberry, pistachio, coffee, and two other flavors that I can not remember what they were called but they were definitely delicious! I have also tried their lemon bar here and it was alright.
This place is tiny and only has like four small tables inside of it, but if you are in for a quick sweet bite then this is definitely the place to go! You pay for your gelato's weight so it actually depends on how much the server gives you which determines the price. I don't like this part of it but whatever.
I will definitely be back for more to try more of their delicious flavors! -

I'm a hugee gelato fan and have tried many gelato places. Gelato at this place is THE BEST so far! It is sooo good that I don't mind driving 15-20 min just to get a small cup of them!
Other gelato-es are delicious too but Tiramisu Gelato is the top one!

Yummy flavors and they're open late! So if I'm downtown somewhere and craving dessert I'll come here! It's always less crowded than Extraordinary Desserts. Plus no fuss with flowers in your food.

Good gelato. They go by weight so you can mix flavors as you'd like, no matter what size you choose. Caramel w/ brownies was good, and I really liked their strawberry. Makes for a good dessert stop after eating at Nacho Libre, although it's kind of small so don't bring a crowd.

I stopped in here after having a little grub. I like to polish the night off with a lil' java so I step into this quaint yet hip joint. Immediately stepping into a line of ravenous customers I soon realize I've stumbled upon a gem.
"Everyones ordering gelato... should we try it?"
Down to business:
I ordered a regular coffee. Not bad... it was reminiscent of diner coffee which I'm pretty fond of. 3 stars.
Chocolate Hazelnut Gelato. Let me just say after the first spoonful entered my mouth my only response was...
"Oh, F#CK yes" 5 stars.
Would I eat here again? Yes. Will I go out of my way for it? Oh, F#CK yes. -

Not my first time here, and wont be my last but I gotta tell ya, Yelpers...
PARKING: SHITTY
VIEW: SHITTY
LOCATION: SHITTY
BUILDING: SHITTY
GELATO: Worth every fucking penny and worth every minute of headache you have finding parking, to view a shitty gas station in a shitty location in a shitty building. The inside is is no wider than a single wide trailers hallway.
The spumonti, AWESOME! 5 stars without breaking a sweat! It has a delightful mix of cherry, almond, and cocoa nibs with a hint of amaretto. Chocolate Hazelnut never disappoints and to savor this little delights with a shot of espresso will leave you breathless. If this place was in a proper location for the caliber of its gelato it would be untouchable! -

GELATO IS DELICIOUS.
i got the caramel with brownie (a caramel ice cream with fudge-y chocolate-y brownie pieces) and tahitian vanilla(a traditional vanilla gelato with vanilla beans inside); both were creamy and airy. gelato has a fluid thickness that ice cream inherently does not have. the consistency of the gelato was decadent, and the flavors were both perfect-they weren't too sweet, which made me extremely happy.
i think the price was 63 cents per oz, which is similar to how a self-serve frozen yogurt place works (although most fro-yo places are like half of that price). definitely worth the price for the amount of gelato you get.
if you are in the area, goooo ! cold and creamy and this thick creaminess... ugh now i want to go again. YUMMMMMMMMzzzzzzzzz nomnomnom... -

Yum Yum Yum, I was a very happy camper after stopping by for a quick sweet tooth fix and am so glad I did.
Gelato was awesome, great texture and flavors were outstanding. Next time will have coffee and gelato. Parking is a bit of a pain but really if you want to support a small business with a great product make the effort. -

Bay Area
Got a size small gelato which you can have with 2 flavors for around $3. Had the expresso bean and vanilla! Great mix that I would gladly get again!
This place is small where you order and a few seats on the inside, some outside seating, and also upstair seating, but I didn't go upstairs to check it out. Would definitely recommend this place for gelato! Great location because you can have dinner at the spots around it and then stop in and get dessert. Even if you're full from dinner, the small is a perfect size and the gelato isn't heavy on the stomach.
Beware that parking available is only street parking.
***Also, $4 minimum purchase to use card or I believe you get charged. -

Tiramisu Gelato. 'Nuff said.
This place is so good. I wish parking was easier, but hey it's a small price to pay for such good gelato. -

Yes, the gelato is really good. But get the coffee. Actually, get both.
Their coffee is pretty good, but their espresso is wassup. It is so bold and delicious and makes me wish I had a much higher tolerance for caffeine than I already do, because I want to drink this stuff by the gallon.
Get a cappuccino, go upstairs, and enjoy. -

This is exactly what a little shop should be like. Really really nice people that hold a conversation with their customers, great coffee, awesome gelato and little snacks. Oh and they have free Wi-Fi! I got a cafe au lait and it was perfect, and my gf got a carmel mocha which was really great too. On our way out we got a pint of half pistachio and half brownie vanilla gelato. This is definitely a place to return too and a coffee/gelato shop to hang out at! Great job owner!

Nice people, excellent coffee, open late and really close to the freeway. I-5 @ Washington St. exit. The cross is India and Washington.
The parking is difficult, though! Especially at night. Do what money-savers do: ride the bus or a bike. -
Review from Andy H.
it was a beautiful day and needed something to cap off the day... after the insanely long line at Lucha Libre, my group and i decided to swing by for some frozen treats. Stuck in the corner along a small building/pathway, i decided to try out the gelato over here. cheaper than most places, i decided to try the espresso and caramel. Molto delizioso! Although, I wasn't too crazy about the caramel cookie, the espresso was nomalicious.
the only star off is that it melted fairly quickly even though i furiously tried to eat it fast. overall, the service was good and the individual was helpful. I would recommend to anyone! -
Review from Jeanna W.
It's gelato.
It's scrumptious.
There us a wide variety of magazines fliers and art adorning the walls to look at.
It's not cheap, but worth it.
Try sitting upstairs and enjoying your gelato or coffee. Free Wi-Fi. -

La Jolla, CA
Wow! Great gelato!! Go for the Spumonti -- love love loved it. And of course they let you sample, so browse around for a bit before making up your mind.
In contrast to a lot of gelato places this is more of a cafe, seating inside and out, and the atmosphere is low-level talky with coffee and food thrown in. My friend liked the hot chocolate and I've been told the coffees are great. It's in the middle of Mission Hills right where India meets Washington -- so next to the freeway but you get a lot of people walking about, milling around at all hours. They're open late too! Good idea if you want dessert after dinner in the neighborhood. -
Review from Cathy H.
San Diego, CA
Hang out here while waiting for someone to arrive at the airport. It beats the cell phone lot, and you'll get to the terminal by the time their bags have arrived.
The spumoni gelato or the chocolate hazelnut are excellent. Sometimes you can also get a dark blackberry gelato which is really excellent with the dark chocolate flavor. Americano coffee is cheap and deliciousm but the Mexican mocha is also a chocolatey delight. We hang out here and connect to the WiFi to track late Southwest and US Air flights. Park on India behind the gas station (other side of the triangle where India splits, across from El Indio) not on the ridiculously steep hill which never has parking anyway. -
Review from Gloria K.
San Diego, CA
Hate to be a downer, but there are places much, much better than Gelato Vero Caffe (at least for gelato).
The thing that really disappointed me about this place was the texture. In my opinion it's much too mushy and isn't as pleasantly smooth as other places I've been to. It gets 3/5 stars because it's made fresh -- otherwise I would give it 2 stars. They don't have much of a selection.
Overall, the gelato is okay/good, but not memorable nor unique. -

This is my place to go when I study. They have bomb gelato and also many good drinks at very reasonable prices.
They have an upstairs place to study and chillax also.
$4 minimum for card or you get a 50 cent charge.
