I can't lie. I wanted to go ahead and give this place 5 stars because it gives me warm and fuzzy feelings about my vacation. But if I did that, I suppose I'd be contributing to misleeding the masses.
Now, I stayed up in Bar Harbor for a week @ the end of August, and the town was just-right crowded. Not a ridiculous touristy mess, easy parking, but enough people-watching to keep you occupied. We found ourselves here many nights out of 7, mainly because we fell in love with Sea Dog Blueberry Ale, and they serve it here with blueberries in your glass, which pretty much rocks. Plus, its next to one of the many fudge and ice cream joints, which makes for a nice combo after you've been imbibing.
Their steamed clams were kick arse, but their lobster roll was sub standard at best. I'd say its an easy way out, reliably "Ok" if you want somewhere centrally located that's easy and will almost always have a table for you.

I would avoid. There is so much better around you.
My burger was dry even though I asked for medium rare. My buddy's burger was ok. "Guppies" (fried fish nuggets) were fried pebbles not remotely close the "fresh" fish advertised.
It was mega touristy... which I wouldn't normally hold against in a touristy town... But this seemed like any restaurant in any town in any strip mall in America.
The menu is HUGE which means they don't really specialize in anything.
I'm not sure if it is fair to cast aspersions on a restaurant in Bar Harbor for being too touristy, but Geddy's was just that - from the neon lobster claws outside to the gift shop downstairs. I'm not sure we would have ventured inside were it not for the coupons we received for staying at Central House B&B.
From the start, the service was a touch... off. Nice enough people, but just... off. And slow. Perhaps I'm too entrenched in my local Midwestern, folksy charm... I know waitstaff the world over doesn't *truly* care how I'm doing or what I'm having for dinner, but you could fake it a little more, no? Or at least bring me my Bar Harbor Bluberry Ale a little more promptly.
The menu is predominantly seafood based, but there are a couple other options for those underwhelmed by Atlantic sealife. The most noteworthy thing was how drastically overpriced everything was. For example, a bowl of chowder was $5. Decent price, yes, but if you "upgrade" (translation: slightly larger bowl and a side of bread) the soup will run you $10! That better be some damn tasty chowder, folks.

I am a tourist who just keeps coming back to bar harbor. I think I've been here probably 6 times over the last dozen years. Yes, the town is getting more touristy; but I am ok with that. I especially like coming back to Geddy's...mostly due to the memories when I first came. Geddy then is very different from Geddy now. Geddy then - bikers, open yard, bourbon flights, wow! It's much more tame now; but I can recall the memories of days past. The food is very good actually. Spend some time walking around and looking at the decor. I will miss seeing my polaroid on the walls when my friends and I visited quite a number of years ago. They have upgraded to a web version. Ask them to take your pic with your friends and wait for the post to recall your good memories.
I will never go back here.
It looked like a fun spot to grab dinner with my friends - good atmosphere on the main strip, lots of people, etc etc. There was a 25 minute wait for a table for 6, but we figured that's the price to pay to go to someplace fun. No biggie. We'll just get some drinks and hang out.
We stood at the bar for LITERALLY 15 minutes with both bartenders hanging around serving other people (even multiple rounds to one group), completely ignoring us (maybe they had something against two girls in their 20s trying to get some wine? I don't know!) even when we said "excuse me" they just ignored us. SO RUDE. I used to waitress and I've never skipped a tip before, but I left a big fat ZERO when we finally got our drinks. Although even after she took our order it took 10 minutes to actually pour the drinks. We were fuming.
Then, our table wasn't ready for at least another 15 minutes, bringing the total time to more like 45 than the original 25, which normally wouldn't have been a big deal, but we didn't get seated until like 9:15, and the place closed at 10.
I guess the one redeeming feature was that our waitress was super nice. Even if she did bring out our food 30 seconds after our appetizers. The food was alright, but my boyfriend said the fish 'n chips sucked. I wouldn't go here if you want a seafood-y place. This is more just bar/pub food with some lobster options. The plates were super hot which means they were probably under the heat lamps for a while during the time our appetizer was being made and eaten. Gah.
Maybe this place doesn't like tourists or whatever, but god, GET OVER IT. That's how you make a living in a town like Bar Harbor. I definitely won't be going back here.
Boo!
Here is a list of things I like about Geddy's:
1. Blueberry margaritas
2. Twirly, bendy straws that extend out of aforementioned margaritas across a table and into your mouth
3. Crayons and coloring pages for everyone!
4. My bathroom is titled "inboard". Boys are "outboard." Maybe I'm juvenile, but it made me giggle. A lot.
5. Bottled beers are served in a brown paper bag, for that real New England drunkard feel.
Things I did not enjoy at Geddy's
1. The fire in the kitchen.
2. The way our server screamed at us that we all had to get out because of the fire in the kitchen. It just made everyone a little more nervous.
3. The guacamole. Seriously, don't tempt fate like I did. New England and Mexican food just don't mix.
4. Our server. We asked her how she was and all she could reply was, "I'd be better if I had more tables than just you." Um, we were a table of 12 and we were all drinking. Heavily.
I'd go back again, but it wouldn't be my first choice in Bah Hah-bor.

This is right on the main street in the town of Bar Harbor and is what you would expect from the outside with the large protruding lobster claws!! It is a a large bar but a pretty vibrant, fun place to grab a bite, especially if you don't want the stuffiness of the fancier fare on the street! Grab some beers and sit down in this eclectic, mess of decorations that scatter the walls and the friendly staff and enjoy some of the nachos, fresh seafood or lobster right from the tank! The menu offers some pretty good selections and the drinks are neat too! Iwoulod recommend making a stop here for lunch or dinner!!
I loved the ribs, picture clean bone being pulled off a wet sweet rack or baby back ribs. Yummy!
"Friday's with better food and a Maine twist" is spot on and I would definitely come back when I make my way back north.
The other reviewer had it spot on when they said TGI Fridays for Maine. So damn true, down to all the crap adorning the walls, only this place I think it's actually real vs. the "purchase schlock in bulk" that TGI Fridays uses for all their places.
Food here was pretty good but standard pub fare for the most part, especially if you like deep fried stuff. The chowda was quite good, but our sandwiches were subpar, although i can't blame that on the place. We definitely ordered the wrong thing, making a piss poor attempt at trying to be healthy. A place like this you gotta leave that attitude at the door and just order the plate of nachos that are bigger than my 20" rims.
Service was friendly and quick, the crowd a mix of families and guys drinking beers. Surprisingly crowded for a Monday night.

Sure, it was a little loud, and a lot was going on. We had to wait a little longer than other places for the food. But the burger I had was AMAZING. (I had the bacon bleu burger...Sooo yummy!!) My husband ordered a salad wrap, which he thought was just ok. But if you're in the mood for a burger and drink, you HAVE to come here!!
OK, this is what it is, and for what it is, it is pretty good.
Think Friday's with better food and a Maine twist. Lots of "quirky" stuff all over the place decorating walls and alcoves, pretty loud, a good place for kids, as all kids meal are served on a frisbee, which said kid gets to keep. . . .what's not to like about that? Lots of different styles of great burgers, pizza, the usual steak and salmon entrees. . . pretty good selection of beers on tap last time I was there.
Usually the service is pretty quick (not this last time I was there, but hey, once ain't bad), and the price is reasonable.
There is often good music playing as well. . .it's a good time.
Got the crab cakes and the delicious local ("Old Soaker") root beer - and it was amazing. Service with a smile, certainly! Not too expensive and near everything else that's great in Bar Harbor.
I love coming here every year! The best Mango (and blueberry) margarita's I've ever had. Staff is SUPER nice & friendly. Pub type food, but I'm usually there for the drinks anyhow. :) Mixed crowd of locals, tourists and kids. Everyone always seems to be in a good mood. Fun place! And it's also fun to sit at the bar & watch people try to figure out the bathrooms (inboard vs. outboard).

This place is hugely surprising. It looks like the most ridiculous tourist trap in the world, totally cheese ball. But much to my shock, they have great food, a fun atmosphere and SUPER nice staff. I have to be honest: I am rarely impressed with staff. Most of the time they are too busy or just don't give a shit. The bartenders we dealt with at Geddy's were completely awesome. This place is bar. Anyone who brings a child in here is a mental reject. If you bring your family here, expect to hear me cussing drunk. You're a moron. They have every imaginable kind of liquor and a beer list that even I was impressed with. There were several kinds I wanted to try and didn't have time for. I highly recommend the Volcano Bowl. It's a huge bowl filled with random tropical booze and juice, with flaming 151 in the center. Yeah, that'll get you tore up. The pizza here is incredible. Very good crispy crust. My only complaints are that it's a little cramped in here (but not unbearable.) We had trouble finding two bar stools in the evening. It also blew my mind how early they closed. We left around 9p and came back less than an hour later and they were closed. Seriously?!?! A bar closed by 10p? I know this is a 'small town,' but it seriously can't be that small! Out of all the establishments I visited in Maine, this was by far one of the most fun. The staff and atmosphere made me feel comfortable. If only they had more of an oceanfront view. Recommend this to anyone over 21. Prices were reasonable, I think our bar tab was under $60/night for two, much cheaper than Orange County bars, to say the least.
I went to this place when I was incredibly hungover searching for a good cure. I found their home-made Bloody Mary. It was a phenomenal experience. The nachos were fantastic as well!
A fun restaurant if you're looking for in-expensive, American fare and someplace with a lot of energy. A good spot when dining with kids given all the food options. My margarita was not great, but brick-oven pizza was quite tasty and inventive. Everyone else liked their dinners quite a bit, too!
My guy & I just got back from vacation in Bar Harbor & we dined at Geddy's our last night there. It was a fun casual place - couple of little quirks: the beer Koozie, and the labels on the restroom doors. There was a good mix of people - tourists, locals, kiddos, etc. The menu is HUGE so you can go in there finding something to suitany craving. We passed our time coloring our placemats (you then take them to the store under the restaurant for a prize!) and looking at all the stuff on the walls. The Crab Ball appetizer was essentially a crab cake rolled into a ball - it was okay. My guy ordered up a wood-fired pizza for himself - the one with the Jamaican theme, it was loaded & cooked perfectly. I had the lobster pasta with thermador sauce - it was good, basically the meat for two whole lobester arms (incl claws) in a tasty sauce over a whole lot of spinach pasta. Overall we had a pleasant time. Next time I think we'll just stick to the pizza though.
