Daaaaamn that's a lot of meat! This was my first Brazilian churrascaria experience, and it was pretty awesome. If you're not familiar with it, this is how it works: it's all you can eat. There is a self serve salad bar with tons of stuff, and meat is constantly brought to your table, one at a time.
The salad bar is decent, but that's not what you go there for. The meat is the real show, and pretty much everything was absolutely delicious. You will stuff yourself silly! Also, they have some Brazilian beers. I had never had one before and I was glad to try something new.
The service is great, the atmosphere is nice, and it is very reasonably priced ($26 person). I'll definitely go back someone when I feel like splurging.
If you're ever in the mood for a meat coma than this place is the spot.
All of your standard brazilian fare (rice, beans, plantains, potato salad, regular salad, cheese balls etc..) plus the Churrasacaria - Rodizio style (all you can eat meat).
One thing about brazilian food is the black beans. They have to be made fresh, with the right ingredients. Some places are dishing out canned black beans and calling it brazilian. Not here.
The beans here are actually quite yummy seasoned with ribs, bacon, sausage and bay leaves, i think i even tasted a little garlic.
Disclaimer: No beans will ever be as good as mom's but for a restaurant they stood out and were very yummy.
Everything is fresh here, although the cheeseballs and yucca fries were a little cold (it is a buffet after all).
They were out of plantains the last time we went so I asked the server (ricardo - great guy) for some and he brought out a huge plate with plantains.
This time the plantains were a little different then usual. They actually caramelized these bad boys in a cinnamon sugar combo that came out awesome! One of the employees actually explained how to make these at home and it's super easy!
Any WHO. I have had many great meals here and the service/food never dissapoints. Just remember: it is an all you can eat buffet so you have to deal with timing issues on certain dishes.

Me Likey!
The food here is great, their meats were prepared perfectly.
Rice, beans, farofa,… Read more »
Service: Most of the men that brought out the meat were friendly and smiled. There was one that stood out (didn't catch his name but looked like the youngest one that worked there). We told about 3 of them that we wanted the filet mignon. He was the only one that remembered and brought it over to us. Hence the 1 star.
The only meats we liked was the filet migon and pork ribs. Everything else was tasteless or too salty. We went on a Fridays evening so it was $34.99 pp for dinner. Sooo not worth it!
As for our waitor, he was not friendly, and not once smiled while serving us. We didn't want to leave any tip for him but we were serviced by the others while we were there so we left 10% tip. He didn't even say a word to us as we left.
As for drinks, stick with either water or ice-tea. The brazillian beer, Brahma, leaves a citris after taste which I didn't like. The Motijo is either too sweet or too sour with very little mint - very disappointing.
Parking: Plenty of machine meter parking. Valet is available for $10.
This place is heaven on earth. I came here with coworkers during work hours so sadly I couldn't have a real drink, but they do have a full bar, and it looked pretty stocked to me. This place is amazing, when you first sit down you get a plate and go to a salad bar, and stock up on rice, beans, potato salad, veggies, this part is not that important, good stuff though.
Then when you sit down, from the salad bar waiters come around with a sword of meat, all kinds, definitely try the sausages. My friend Ralph gave one of the guys a 5, I think he had the tritip, and lets just say our plates were always full of delicious meats. Lunch is about $17 a person, and if you like meat, definitely well worth the price. Definitely look forward to coming here again soon.
Not the best - but very good food. the attraction here is the live music and live dancers on Friday and Saturday nights. Very fun place and the food is way good enough to keep you coming back. The service can be "slow" though given the Churasscaria style of preparation and delivery of the meat servings. Be patient and it will come! Downside...can get busy and parking can be difficult. suggest reservations. I have been turned away mor ethan once for not doing so.
My bosses took me out to eat here, Ididn't know how it worked all I know is that everything was good... The salad bar has hot foods, which included seafood items. There was a different meat being offered every two minutes. I sat with my bosses so I didn't eat as much as I could have, but from what I had this place had quality food. I didn't find out how much the cost was until I read the other reviews, but I still think that it is worth it I would definitely come back and literally eat all I can eat.
The meat here is very salty. I like salty food so it was okay, except all their meat is cooked well done which makes the meat very tough and hard to eat. The only meat i had that was tender and juicy were the ribs!! They have a nice selection from the salad bar and side dishes, except i went for the meat!!
They have a really good musician! I forgot his name, it starts with an S, but he has a really good voice and plays a good selection of songs on his guitar!!
Went here for my cousin's graduation party. At first glance, the name kinda throws you off, making you think you're about to have Mexican food (which is A-OK with me) but to my very pleasant surprise it was a Brazilian joint bbq joint. Hurray!!!! Let the gluttony begin.
We pretty much had the main dining room to our entire family so didn't think twice about moving around, bumping into chairs and their occupants. The brick walls are adorned with seemingly authentic Brazilian deco. There's also a stage, which I assume is for happy hour and weekend evenings..
Anyway, down to the core of this review.. Usually my gripe with Brazilian bbq joints is the almost inedible side dishes they serve buffet style. But not this place, the sides are delicious! And the meat, wow, don't get me started, while there aren't as many options as other Brazilian places I've been to, the meat they do put out is stuff-your-face-and-then-some yummmy. Ribs, pork, beef, chicken, sausages --everything was begging to be eaten, again and again. And so that I did...Damn should've worn sweats........
I went on a sunday around noon time, so I didn't get to soak up any of that extra pizazz the other reviewers dish about, but that might've worked better for me as I didn't need to be distracted from the food.........
I would definitely go again if I ever ended up in the area..Oh and another plus, they're literally a block away from Portos. ... And yes after eating at Gauchos, I did go to Portos right after for some dessert. Oink.
I think when it comes to Brazilian BBQ you can go for the food or you can go for the ambience. I think at gaucho's they are trying to do something in between. The meats that were brought to us were fine, some were juicer than others but none were bad.
If you are looking to have a conversation with someone this might not be the place to go, the places is loud and just when you thought you were used to the music the dancers come out and try to get the dinners to work off a few calories.
Overall I enjoyed the experience I will probably return at some point but there are a lot of other Brazilian places I need to try before I come back.
Ummmmmm Brazilian steak house, the only place where they have sticks upon sticks of meat *drooooool*. We made a reservation which was totally not necessary since the place was really quite. This scared me a little because if the place is not getting enough business, you might be unlucky enough to get yesterdays leftovers! Everything seemed pretty fresh, and by the time we left there were a few customers, 2 small and 2 large parties. I'm guessing that they are not getting the business they deserve because of the lack of parking and strict metered parking in the area.
Here's my very simple review. I don't remember what I had exactly, but it was lots and lots of meat and it was ALL DELICIOUS. There was nothing I didn't like. I do remember that I REALLY liked their "Spicy Chicken" great, now I want to go back.
The cheese balls and meats were great but when I compare it to other meat service places, they win. The price however is very reasonable but you'll taste it too. The service is fast and friendly. A good variety but not as much when compared to the other places. I'll need to check this place out on their bossa nova nights and edit my rating. Till then it's a very high 3.
For you meat lovers out there, you need to visit this place. The waiters walk around of sword-like skewers carrying a variety of steak, chicken, pork and sausages. They have that little wood indicator with a green and a red end. Green means keep the meat coming (and believe me they will); Red means make it stop. They have a very good lunch buffet and a surprisingly good selection of salads.
Apparently they have great dinner shows etc., but if you think that translates to a good happy hour spot - it doesn't. Definitely not the place to drink away your day's stresses.
Meh. I've experienced batter.......................
My friend celebrated his birthday here. I was excited to hear that there would be Brazilian dancers performing. I was then sadly disappointed when I realized there were only 2 dancers. I was expecting more dancers and thought the production would be better. The food is okay, but they lose some points for not having any plantains. As far as the meat quality, Fogo Da Chao is still better, the meat here is a little salty. The management and service were really accommodating. There were 24 of us in attendance and the servers and manager were friendly and took care of our party. It's a cool place to take someone for a party, but it isn't the best churrascaria out there.
All I can say is, don't come in here wearing those jeans that hardly fit you, cause that button will be popping at the end of the night. My advice to all you meat lovers out there is, don't go to crazy at the buffet. They do have a great variety of salads, rice, and bread, but you want to save room for the meat.
Trust me.
My favorite has to be the bacon wrapped chicken. I mean bacon wrapped anything is fantastic, but when the bacon is crispy and the chicken is still juicy!! I mean come on, that's amazing!!!
It's a bird, it's a plane, no it's....huh?...It's....beef kabobs???
The quality of the meats is a coin toss when the servers come around to your table. I guess that's what the great booty-shaking dancers are for----to keep you distracted long enough so you won't notice you just chewed on something that looks like a dirty sponge, smells like an eraser, and feels like a rock....if you're lucky.
been here once and i am a fan!! oooohhhh mmmmm yummmm!! when i went, the waiters/meat guy were hot! i don't know about now.
bomb ass food+ hot guys= oooh yes, i am there!! hehehe
anywho, i love their cheese bread and all the salads. the meat was all good. i liked the parmesean sirloin! (i think that what its called).
Great food. This is steak heaven! you absolutely must do the buffet, no questions! I've been here for my boyfriends birthday and for 2 valentines day dinners with friends and have never been disappointed. Well I was a little disappointed when we went for Valentines day 09 and they didn't mention that the price was doubled for the special day but we got over it after all the food came around, they gave us a round of complementary drinks and the brazilian bikini dancers came out. = )
I've been to fogo de chao and this is "almost" as good. I think their meats are a tad bit better, location is closer to me and it was nice having the server replace our side dishes around the table throughout the meal but it's a lot more expensive.
i am a devoted fan! PS IF ANYONE HAS A RECIPE FOR THEIR CHEESY BREAD BALLS PLEASE MSG ME WITH IT!
Do you enjoy various kinds of meat being served to you on a skewer? Do you enjoy many options wrapped in bacon? Do you enjoy scantily-clad dancing girls with plumes of feathers in their headdress?
Then come on down to Gaucho's Village! Fun for the whole family! Especially if you want to prompt your 10-year old kids to ask you why those pretty ladies aren't wearing anything, which will surely lead to a conversation about the birds and the bees if you don't have any candy in your pockets to distract them.
Anyway - the venue. It's huge. Tables everywhere, with a square bar to one side and a buffet on the other. You grab a plate, go to the buffet and pile on any assortment of salads and/or Brazilian supplements like empanadas, rice & beans, and the like, and then you go back to your seat. There's a little coaster with two sides on it - the green side lets the waiters know that you're still hungry for more meat, while the red side lets them know you've had your fill.
The waiters walk around with skewers loaded with freshly grilled meats, from filet mignon to leg of lamb, some of which was wrapped in bacon (much to my chagrin), all of which was very sumptuous.
"Flank?"
"Yes please!"
"Sirloin?"
"Sure!"
"Leg of lamb?"
"Why not!"
"skirt wrapped in bacon?"
"Ummmm... I'll pass..."
"More sirloin, then?"
"You betcha!"
I was disappointed that I couldn't find any dijon mustard, but there was plenty of zesty of A1 sauce to add just the right amount of flavor to my beef cuts.
The owner seemed to take a shine to us. He treated us to some very flavorful red wine that complimented our meal perfectly. I didn't have much because I was driving, but the half-glass that I did have was pretty good - and I don't even like red wine!
For dessert we had chocolate mousse and passion fruit mousse. They were both excellent desserts and were polished off in their entirety by everyone at the table. The passion fruit one wasn't too overpowering either, as it usually tends to be.
The wait staff was a little bit disorganized, which worked to their advantage since no one really has to place an order for a meal - the meal comes to you on a skewer, so they're able to get away with it. But still, seeing a waiter's blankly confused expression as my aunt ordered a Diet Coke was a bit disconcerting.
"So you want a coke?"
"Yes please, diet."
"Coke with diet?"
"A diet coke."
"We have diet coke."
"Great, I'll have one of those."
"Okay."
Throughout our meal, there was a live performance - one guy on a keyboard and a lady belting out Brazilian classics. Eventually they were replaced by two very hot dancing girls wearing what I can only assume to be a traditional Brazilian get-up. It consisted of barely enough fabric to cover their breasts and pelvic regions, and there were more feathers and sequins than you can shake a finger at.
All in all it was a great experience. I can't say anything about the pricing because I was invited to this place, but I had lots of fun. I can't say the same for the kids, though - two ten-year-olds having to behave like adults is never fun for them. They aren't even old enough to appreciate the dancing girls.
Gaucho's Village is one of my favorite Brazilian BBQ spots. The meat isn't the best, nor does Gaucho's sport the best variety. In fact, I think every other Brazilian BBQ I've been to served better meat. Now, don't get me wrong, the meat IS good - just not top notch. But that isn't the point...
Gaucho's just makes it damn FUN to be there. From various live singers, to belly-dancing chicks (though I'm assuming they call them something else in Brazil), to crazy techno-variants of samba music blasting, to a friendly owner/host who's willing to set up a free hookah bar in the back, Gaucho's feels like one big, exclusive party.
If you want a quiet, quaint, and [somewhat] romantic atmosphere, hit up M-Grill in Koreatown or Picanha in Burbank (like you can even be romantic while hogging down pound after pound of meat). If you have a date who isn't a boring buzzkill, they'll appreciate Gaucho's Village.
An interesting sidenote: the samba/belly-dancers here are a world-class mystery. Their bodies are BANGIN'. I mean the kind of bodies you'll see in magazines. Even my girlfriend agreed. But........ their faces.... look like DUDES. I mean seriously, some of the ugliest faces you'll ever see! Maybe it just SEEMS worse because their bodies are so hot (sort of like how a swimming pool feels like the arctic circle if you jump in right after sitting around in a jacuzzi for a few minutes). Seriously, their bodies make you say,"holy geez....", then their faces make you scream,"OH JESUS CHRIST, PAYYYCE!!!" as you grab your check and run out.
Worst brazilian bbq restaurant. I have been to many brazilian restaurants in the US already (I cannot compare it to the ones in brazil because that would just be a massacre). But this restaurant gets a bad grade in every aspect.
The meat is dry, tough, and overcooked. Some of the waiters are nice but overall (including the managers), they are not friendly. You will be lucky if you leave this restaurant full. Most of the time you spend here is not eating, but waiting for the food to come to your table. Sometimes, they will even skip your table. And when the meat does come to your table, it will not taste good.
Conclusion: There are better brazilian restaurants out there in the same price range, including Pampas Grill (in Famer's Market at LA) and Porto Alegre (in Paseo at Pasadena). At Gauchos Village, you will leave angry and unsatisfied.
The show was interesting.
Food was mediocre.
5 stars for lunch. They serve picanha and the buffet is less than 20 dollars.
For dinner, it is comparatively priced and worth the money. Just on a poor resident's salary, it means that I can't go as often as I want. :)
Bruna is a great server and I love lunchtimes with her.
I don't enjoy going to buffets much, but I'll go to gaucho's without much hesitation. Uploaded a photo of my round #1 dish. The wait was not as long as I expected for a friday night, but it was packed. The dancers and live music was a bit loud and distracting at times, but reminded us to pace ourselves as we attempted to gorge away.
My favorite meats:
-Tri-tip steak - Salty and savory.
-Bacon wrapped Filet Mignon - Delicious, the bacon can get overwhelming as it's wrapped around the bite size filet about two and a half times.
For a $39 meal, I enjoyed the ambiance, meat cuts and entertainment and would go again....but also seeking closer/better one's in the OC =)
Had a company Christmas party here back in '06.
While it was totally inappropriate for a company Christmas party, I enjoyed the food and the entertainment. Brazilian dancers shakin' their stuff while you are being served lots of yummy meat? I'm for that.
Minus 2 stars because we were promised the area upstairs for our group, and with no real explanation, that was taken away, with no compensation.
I would come back here with a small group, but it just wasn't fit for a large party.
I've been to this place many a times...although mostly for lunch since my office shares a common wall with the restaurant.
Overall, I have to say this place does a good job at what its meant to do and that is to serve you a lot of meat...most of the times cooked correctly with a few glaring exceptions when the picanha comes to the table too rare. The garlic beef is quite a treat. The spicy chicken is very well cooked and the polish sausage is simply divine.
The buffet however leaves something to the imagination. The standards usually, however the vegetable relish is quite a good compliment to the meat.
On the whole, the place is worth a visit at lunch with the price topping out at $20ish with a drink, however at dinner the price is hiked up to $25/person with nothing extra added on.
I think the vibe was very lavished and the service and food quite traditional brazilian. How do I know that? Bem... eu morei no Brasil durante 14 anos, e eu acho que eu reconheco boa comida brasileria quando eu vejo.
To be more accurate, i feel like that food was 85% authentic (obviously, given the ingridients and meat available). But I have to say this is as authentic as I've had thus far in terms of Rodizio.
Lunch prices are great, so take advantage of it. and while ur at it, make sure you order Guarana (soda) - Don't believe what the american media says about Guarana being bad stimulant for you... i've been drinking that stuff ever since I was born.
THE ORDER:
Meat, meat, & more meat
There r salads too
- but i didnt waste space on these
YIPPEEE: My 3 Favs
- Parmesan pork
- Bacon wrapped everything
- Top sirloin
Meat moist & rare :)
BOOO:
Never enough tummy space
This is definitely a meat lovers paradise!! Yumm! And the Caipriniha is alright.
I had an overall great experience at Gauchos Village. One of my two favorite churrascarias. The service was very fast and friendly. For drinks, try one of their caipirinhas. They're a little on the strong side, but very good. They have a salad bar, where they you can get a bunch of yummy sides, from cheese bread (so good!) and steamed bananas. The meat that they serve is very good. At $26/person, what more can you expect. :)
Fogo de Chao definitely looks smancier, but I like how the meat tastes at Gaucho's Village little more.
The atmosphere is good, the drinks are great. I recommend the Caipirinha or Mineiria (sp?). I felt like they had a lot of bacon wrapped meats, don't get me wrong, I love bacon, but I want to be able to enjoy the flavor of the different cuts of meat and not have it disguised in bacon grease. The buffet bar was meh, but you don't come here for that, you come here for endless meat!!
The entertainment was ass shakin'! Know the heimlich maneuver before coming here because once those booty shakin girls start, the guys might start choking!
James Y. is right...the bathroom does smell like Sulfuric ASS. I have been to this spot twice, and noticed it both times.
Nevertheless, Glendale does have a decent brazillian barbecue spot for folks to go to.
My aunt exposed me to this place about a year ago (maybe a lil more) when I think Gauchos first opened. Out of the four brazillian spots that I have been to, Gauchos probably falls at number 3 on the list.
I really like the fact that they have dancing, singing and crowd participation on some nights at Gauchos. I think it really gives the restaurant great flavor/flair.
The service is pretty good, and they do a decent job of staying on top of you with the meats. They also offer this brazillian drink that I cant think of the name of...pretty damn good though. Make sure you ask for it..its like a brazilian cola or something....(my memory sucks).
So a good option if you are in glendale and want to do the brazillian bbq thing, but if you can find a Fogo De Chao...you wont EVER go wrong with that.
Why does the men's restroom and parts of their kitchen smell like sulfuric ASS... 24/7?
must be from all that protein.
`
Best Brazilian Place in the World.
I would think it's a great place for a first date.
I went here for a friend's birthday, and I loved it.
Soooo many varieties of meat! And authentic and tasty Brazilian food!
An indication of a phenomenal restaurant is how many times I return. I have been to this meat paradise on several occasions, coming up with excuses as to why I need to visit Glendale.
Latest excuse, Americana at Brand just opened there. I recommend the discounted lunch price that allows for the full "Churrascarian" experience for less than $20.
Basically, it is the Brazilian interpretation of buffet. The Gauchos, in full attire, parade around offering an abundance of garlicky, seasoned meats-- filling your plates until you plead stop.
There is also an all-you-can-eat sample bar of indigenous specialties.
Lots and lots of meat. Lots and lots of fun. On Friday and Saturday nights, they have Brazilian dancers and a samba "show" once an hour, which (although somewhat brief) is enjoyable and adds to the party mood.
Other reviewers have done a great job capturing how the Brazilian Churrascaria concept works at Gaucho's Village, so I'll bypass any redundancy. This review is for (I think) my fourth visit, but I've always had a very good time here.
My favorite stuff: The (very rare) picanha steak, and the tri-tip which was so flavorful.
On this most recent visit, a few employees really stood out and I feel deserve special mention: manager/hostess Hanna, who was very helpful in getting us a reservation; our waiter, Cris, who was attentive in spite of the general chaos of a Saturday night; and gaucho/meat server Daniel, whose non-stop spirit of serving fun helped make the meal a delight.
The only negative was that on this visit (unlike previous ones), the pieces of filet mignon were teeny-tiny, and the bacon wrapping them seemed to account for about 75% of the total mass. Rather disappointing, but the other cuts of meat were much better.
Oh, and contrary to a couple of previous posts, the restrooms were spotlessly clean and no sulfuric smell.
timing is everything. so when we arrive on a friday night there was loud music and flashing lights. sweet... im in for an experience.
its a bit confusing if you dont go with someone whos already been there. the host/waiters never tell you what youre suppose to do. here we are sitting at our table staring at our drinks. so im directed by my friend to grab a plate at the buffet line and fill up. all the sides and fixins were excellent by the way. you could almost (just almost) get by with food from the buffet.
and then the meat fest began. i was only guessing what kind of meat was being dropped on my plate because i couldnt hear a damn word any of the servers were saying over the drumming of the music. so i just nodded my head and hoped for the best.
everything that was chicken was delicious. but wtf? why am i receiving bloody as hell meat? "medium-well or medium?" was the question presented to me... but did it matter? everything was dripping with blood, like they just cut it off the effing cow! i passed on anything not-chicken for the rest of the night. i assume since it was late (around 930pm) that they werent cooking the meat thoroughly because the place was packed. has anyone gotten sick from eating this yet? ugh.
i have to give it to the (supervising?) manager; it was noisy the entire night but she took the time to go around and ask everyone how their food was. i wont say i didnt have a good time, because the food was delicious aside from the bloody meat. and the entertainment was, well, entertaining.
its about $35 a head, and around $10 a drink. so plan to spend money. theres a $10 valet out front, or you could circle the block and find metered parking for 2 hrs.
Meat, meat, and lots more meat. This was my second visit to a Churrascaria...first one in Tokyo... both just as good except this one doesn't have an all you can drink deal.
They have a salad bar there but why bother with that when the main focus should be meat.
All types of meats come out of the kitchen one by one. You'll get marker... red one side and green the other. If you want them to keep coming to your table with their skewers of meat, keep the green side up. Want them to stop... keep the red side up. It'll probably take you only 10-15 minutes to be overwhelmed.
Damn! Stuff yo face! Been to Gauchos a few times, but the last time was a couple of weeks ago. It's a little pricey but well worth it if you're not a vegetarian. Gauchos is good times!
Came here on a Friday night and was able to catch the last half of another Laker victory on their way to the championship!!! They have a huge projection screen for sports, their drinks are really good and they serve up the goods! My favorite was the bacon wrapped sirloin...i...said....damn!!!
We got bombarded! Had to shine that 'red light' while we caught our breath! The gauchos serving the meat are hella cool, they were bringing everything we asked for and a bunch of stuff we didn't, but gladly took anyway! They have live entertainment too. Music, samba dancers, great food: what else could you possibly want?
Just be sure to pace yourself...
By Far...my most favorite Brazillian restaurant in southern california. Please direct me towards somewhere with the perfect balance of tender meats as well as a great tasting buffet bar.
As long as there are a lot of people there, the meats aren't sitting in the grill for too long so you can get them perfectly cooked just how you like it.
