3 stars due to no more POSH ultralounge. I have stayed at Garden City Hotel 2x, and the rooms are decent, but as others have said, they are dated. For the amount of money this place costs, it should be nicer in the rooms.
I had gone here for new years, and $600 got the 2 of us a room and a great all you can drink party. The well liquor was grey goose, and the club was hot. Plenty of young professionals partying, great food etc. But alas, the POSH club has closed due to pressure from Garden City. Now it is just a stuffy old hotel.

When you go on a paid work vacation and they put you up in this joint...you must certainly say THANK YOU.
It was an awesome stay. Even though you have to take the train into Manhattan from the LIRR (about 45 mins ride) this hotel is situated in a nice city. Expensive, good service, nice rooms. I gotta say though...no free internet.
The front desk staffs are cute and nice and you even get a few airline crew staying here! That's a plus!
Think of the nicest hotel at which you have stayed. This isn't it, not by a long shot. The decor screams early '80s that hasn't been touched since. Out room was musty, the carpet and bedspreads old and worn. On the plus side, the person who handled our check in was pleasant. I can't rate the food because the rest of the hotel is so unappealing that I wouldn't eat here. A Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, Ramada Inn, etc. would be nicer and probably cleaner as well. Oh, and to add insult to injury, they charge around $300 a night. They should be paying the guests.
I visited there restaurant for a Saturday lunch last month while visiting the NY metro area for four days. It seems to be a lovely place, if not a bit dated. The food and service were perfectly adequate. Nothing more....nothing less.
Beautiful Hotel. I hear it is a five star place, but I didn't go there to stay over. I went to the Bistro downstairs.
It was medium to higher quality convention food. My steak was on the dry side. My friend's chicken was also a little dry. The fish was standardly cooked salmon. Nothing really special.
The decor was beautiful and the service was very nice and very attentative.
I went to a very special event here two months ago with a large guest list, and it was spectacular. The food was mostly awesome, the ambiance was great, and the night went by (mostly) without a hitch.
A few things were out of place and not exactly perfect, but the service was superb. The waiter made sure that we always had a drink and was very attentive during dinner. I've never experienced that at a large event before.

Sunday Brunch at the Garden City Hotel - 12-5pm
For $62 you can have all your heart desires (and take care of breakfast, lunch, dinner and midnight snack all in one sitting)... sushi, lobster, omelet bar, waffle bar, pasta, salad bar, about 15 different deserts and unlimited mimosas! Food isn't amazing.
If you like gluttony for breakfast/brunch, and paying a premium for it, while getting to hang out in 'the spot of spots' if you're a ritzy long islander, then this is a place you have got to check out.
If you want an affordable price, reasonable sized portions, then you should probably stick to your local diner.

Sunday Brunch is to die for ! Hotel is gorgeous. We came for our anniversary. They brought up champagne and chocolate covered cherries. We loved it
I'm in awe of the review below this. Ritz Carlton in feel? Have you ever been in a Ritz Carlton? I think not. If there was a Mr. Ritz Carlton, he just rolled over in his grave.
If I could give this place zero stars I would do just that. I'm here with my wife for a wedding paying over $200 per night for a room that hasn't been updated in at least 15 years, maybe more. I'm looking forward to uploading some pictures for you to see.
Ever been in the bathroom of your grandma's house? You'll get that same creepy feeling every time you take a shower here at the Garden City Hotel. How about the bedroom furniture your parents had when you were a child? It's right here at the Garden City Hotel.
How about walls so thin you can actually hear your neighbor fart? Right here baby!
How about a $16 glass of wine that should cost you $8? You'll find it at the 'Ultra Lounge' complete with caricature murals featuring the stars of "We are the World" - that's right, the 1985 hit written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie.
To give you an idea of how money hungry this hotel is, allow me to tell you the tale of a man and a cork screw: After paying nearly $80 for 4 bad glasses of wine, we decided to retire to our room and open a great bottle of wine that we brought ourselves. Being short a cork screw, I went to the concierge to ask for one. Simple enough, right? I was told that there would be a $35 corking fee. After a while of negotiating, I was able to meet the F&B manager who reluctantly handed over a plastic corkscrew after telling me all about 'house rules'. In ANY other hotel, this conversation would never have taken place.
If you should find yourself with the misfortune of needing to travel to Garden City Long Island, stay at the cheapest place you can find. I hear there is a Hampton Inn near by; you'll be just fine there.
Check back for pictures, I can't wait to share this "Ritz Carlton" in feel hotel.

I have stayed here twice now and each time it is better and better. I love staying here for special occassions. I stayed here for Valentines day and just a boradway weekend and every time they bend over backwards for you. Whether it was to check in early or to just get new pillows. They are genuinely cordial and the service is impeccable. Be prepared to pay for this though. I paid with tax about $300 a night. I got my wife a massage and it was awesome. One hour in the health club. there is a nice health facility and pool here with a sauna. The rooms are very large and the beds are quite comfortable. The best part is that dirctly right across the street is the Long Island Railroad with a 30 minute ride to Manhattan!! Its literally at your doorstep and its cheaper than staying in the city. This is the most luxirious hotel in Long Island and its close to everything. The food in the cafe is awesome and the room service is great too. The only drawback I see is that for a luxorious place, they contain the most popular nightclub on the island and it brings in some scantly clad people and noise at odd hours. Its so weird to see young people waiting outside this expensive hotel. But thats the worst part. BOOK A TRIP NOW!! Bring your wallet though!

Very Ritz Carlton in feel, The Garden City hotel is first class all the way. Located across the street from the Long Island Railroad and a block from the shops and restaurants downtown Garden City, you can't go wrong with this one if you are willing to fork out the bucks. Very much in Long Island flavor, you will see lots of glass and bravado here.
