PROLOGUE: I began my WiiHunt by searching online for the best methods of getting my hands on one. I didn't particularly want to order one online, especially considering that they often sell out in seconds online. Through the site http://WiiTracker.com, I discovered a link deep down on the GameStop website that updates the in-stock quantities of Wii consoles. Just type in your zip code and look it up. While the figures were not 100%, anecdotal evidence proved that this was pretty reliable. The site appeared to be updated in the middle of the night, so I would check each morning when I woke up. On a recent Saturday morning, I checked and the GameStop store in American Canyone had them.
REVIEW: The store opened at 10am, but I was up bright eyed and bushy tailed excited about getting my new Wii. I called the store at 9am just to check, and a guy answered the phone and told me that they did indeed have them in stock. He wouldn't hold it but was very nice. I went to to the store to just wait outside, Starbucks in hand, until 10am. I must have looked ridiculous, a 38yo man waiting outside of a video game store all by himself. Sounds like an episode of To Catch a Predator. But, embarrassment be damned, I needed that Wii. The manager came out and chatted and he was a great guy. Even opened a little early for me. He was incredibly helpful. By 10:10, I was on my with my Wii, a few games, some accessories, and the wide-eyed eagerness of a 12yo boy on Xmas morning.
EPILOGUE: I love my Wii. Set a new record on Guitar Hero last night. Rock On!
My Kids love the place. We usually spend way too much money because the games are so good. Well managed and friendly service.
