We've bought some stuff from Gallery, and have a lukewarm feeling about the store.  Every time we go furniture shopping Gallery is one of our stops, but we rarely find something we want at the price we want to pay.

That being said, if you want your furniture delivered the same day, they're your best bet.  Especially if you're not price conscious and you like traditional furniture.

Pros:
They do deliver same day
They have a lot of stuff in stock

Cons:
Prices are not competitive
Way too much traditional stuff, minimal modern stuff
Service plan that didn't cover what the salesman promised.
Silly Hastens mattresses.  A $50,000 mattress?  Seriously?

I have to respect Gallery Furniture for at least hiring "SOME" competent people, who actually give a damn about the customers. As you may have read in my previous review, I spoke to the person in charge of the "service" department. Someone by the name of Laura Wolhers, who did not help me in the least. She actually sounded as if my inquiries were annoying to her (no, she is not there to give anyone good customer service). After sending an email on the main website and getting a reply from Gil Velasquez (one of the better employees) My problem was resolved.

Thanks to Gil Velasquez and Mike Kelly My furniture was fixed and although my initial service experience was awful, I am happy that someone (or two people) at Gallery Furniture actually care about their jobs and their customers. As for Mrs Wohlers.. I hope NEVER to deal with her again.

New location, new digs, great new lines all await at the new Gallery Furniture Post Oak location - having enjoyed the gala grand opening event and rubbed elbows with a who's who of Houston's elite, it was a splendid affair and world-renowned decorator Bill Stubbs definitely outdid himself at this posh location (turns out they are expanding another 7500 square feet and he is doing something "never done in the furniture retail experience") so this is quite the treat.

For the discerning customer, Kreiss, Drexel Heritage, and Home Trends & Design are all featured labels here, next to Tempur-Pedic beds (and hello - the gorgeous series of fishtanks and serene setting of this Tempur-Pedic showroom will blow even the hype haters of Tempur-Pedic out of this world) and custom Home Theater leather by United Leather USA out of Dallas, TX.

Even better than this, and lo and behold my feminine side is coming out here, the "Her Sanctuary" where they show how you can incorporate home theater subtly into a bedroom is impressive, to say the least, and quite romantic.  I was blown away in ways that you can't believe by the sheer depth of decoration and the way the stage was set for a true high-end experience.

The opening night festivities were definitely in line with the upscale trend of this latest addition to the Gallery Furniture family, with Maggiano's catering the event and judging by the fact they also had hand-made, hand-woven rugs (I died and went to heaven!) I think it's safe to say that this is definitely worth the pop-in after you have had entirely too much of the delicious cake next door at Kenny & Ziggy's.

Take a rest, and enjoy sitting on a $20,000 sofa sectional - after all, how often will you get to do that in your lifetime unless you own the thing?  From lighting to tile, front to back, be mesmerized by this location and enjoy the service, selection, and service the old location brings to the upscale crowd.

Elegance meets velocity at this new location... TODAY.

I was bummed with the closing of Storehouse Furniture several years ago.  They had a great mix of traditional and contemporary furniture at reasonable prices.  Couch and 2 stand alone chairs we bought 5 years ago still looks almost as good as new.

When I heard Gallery Furniture was going to open up a store in the same shopping strip, I was curious to see if they could pull it off -- what was being described as an upscale Gallery Furniture store.

After a recent visit to the store, sadly, the only thing upscale about it is its location.

Inside, it had a warehouse or outlet sort of feel. As I (tried) to move around the store, i had to maneuver bulky furniture and people.  The haphazardly thrown animal rugs on the floor made it even harder to walk around since it made certain floor areas uneven.  It felt like rush hour traffic in a pot hole laden highway.

Where other upscale furniture stores showcase their pieces in a room like setting, everything here felt like things where just dropped and placed with no thought to the flow of the store or how the pieces might look if it were in your home.  There a couple of designed rooms, it was way in the back next to a wall of flat screen TVs, past the sales desk, next to the employee locker rooms.

It was jam packed with furniture, after furniture with not much room to move around and browse.  It didn't help that most of their inventory tend towards the bulky, big, "grandma" type of furniture style.

All you needed was a big shopping cart to feel that you're in your local discount super store shopping for a couch.  They seem to have more inventory, than space.  Should probably have stored some of those pieces until they expanded, rather than stuffing the store, like a Christmas goose.

Name brand of furniture doesn't mean much to me as I don't really need a furniture that often, but style and price is what matters the most, specially these days.  Well kids, this isn't your daddy's Gallery Furniture, "It won't definitely save you money!"

I gave it 1 star because, 1/2 star wasn't available.

I needed furniture -- so I decided to bite the bulet & see what I was missing. Not much it seems. Most of their stuff is overpriced for the quality (particle board-- really!?). I felt like I was carshopping because their sales men wouldn't back off even after I told them I didn't plan on buying anything.
I didn't buy here - its a shame too, because I understand "Matress Mac" is a good guy.

About This Business

History

Established in 1981

Gallery Furniture was founded first at its original location at 6006 I-45 North between Tidwell and Parker.  The expansion store at 2411 Post Oak Boulevard was originally slated for the fourth quarter of 2008, but due to Hurricane Ike got pushed to the first quarter of 2009.

The new Gallery Furniture Post Oak Location had its grand opening debut the weekend of March 13, 2009 and debuted the majority of its store - approximately 15,000 square feet - which was designed by world renowned interior designer Bill Stubbs of Houston (an Architectural Digest Top 100 Interior Designers) as well as by Gallery Furniture's own interior designer Michael Burns.  Together, they have created a truly aspirational home for lines such as Kreiss, Drexel Heritage, solid mango wood from Home Trends & Design, custom home theater leather from United Leather USA of Dallas, and other upsclae collections.

The store is slated to expand another 7,500 square feet with new vignettes soon.

Mack came to Houston in 1981 with his wife Linda, five thousand dollars, and a dream that was Gallery Furniture.  Sales started strong, then, during a sales slump, Mack made a move to television commercials and there was born the Mattress Mack everyone grew to know - a man dedicated to customer service and a "do-whatever-it-takes" approach to pleasing the customer.

Along with the Westside Tennis Club and the new Gallery Furniture / Kreiss showroom, Mack and his wife Linda continue to expand their strong ties to the Houston community - bringing their positive approach and TODAY philosophy to everything they do.

Mack's strong work ethic is matched by his philanthropy and exceeded by his commitment to his family.
