The Industrial Center Building (also known to the locals as "The ICB") is a landmark historic building steeped in the area's ship building roots. Now it houses a vibrant community of artists' studios. It's not glamorous. In fact, the hallways are kind of dark and foreboding, and some of the studios seem that way too.
However, twice a year (once in ~ early December, once in ~ mid-May) they host an Open Studios event/sale which is not to be missed. Not all the artists participate, but many serve wine & cheese, etc. You'll find something for everyone ... from old school oil paintings (dating back to the 50s) to contemporary metal works, and everything in between.
