Whatever you do, go here. Be here. Love here. Galileo's is fantastic. And I'm not just talking about the menu... or the drinks... or the art on the walls... or the bar staff... or the weekly schedule... or the location. It all, combined, makes this place one of my all-time OKC fave places to be.
I should have gone here more often when I lived in OKC. But, upon my recent visit, I hung out at Galileo's on a Friday afternoon with one of my best friends. We sat at the bar. He drank a White Chocolate mocha. I had a Sam Adams Octoberfest, which was on tap. My friend and I laughed about the funny stickers on the wall leading into the kitchen. We admired the beer selection, and made conversation with the bar manager. Finally, we ordered the 5 cheese pizza, prepared white style. Wow. Talk about biting into euphoria. If you like cheese and you like pizza, you'll love this. I certainly did.
During the week, Galileo offers open mic nights, poetry slams/readings and live music. There's something for everything here, including those needing a coffee fix, like my friend. (I've had their Black Forest latte and hot chai before; both were outstanding.)
I've gone to G's during poetry night. Let me tell you, it's a popular staple of the OKC art scene. It's a great place to go if you want to chat with a friend, or just enjoy being out, kicking back and enjoying space with other open-minded individuals, as well as supporting the local artists who have the gonads to express themselves in a public forum. The audience is very supportive. That's something that I remember vividly, for I thought it was really cool that everyone was given props for having the courage to stand before the mic.
As far as the price you pay for all this, it's reasonable. You may pay a slight cover if there's a band, but that's fair. Once inside, beer, coffee and food prices are perfectly reasonable. (I can't speak to the prices or stiffness of their mixed drinks, though; i haven't had any here.)
I really like the feel of Galileo's. It's laid back - almost like it's a bar ideal for free spirits and independent thinkers. You can come here and just be yourself. I love that. As for the decor, the floors are hardwood. There's plenty of seating in the bar area or down on ground level where they set up for the readings and open mic nights. There's also a smaller room just off to the right of the entry way. Even better, patio seating. All this gives G's a multi-dimensional feel. Downside: one bathroom, and it's unisex.
Bottom line: Galileo's deserves every single star I've given it.
Trust me. Or, rather, go see for yourself!Listed in: Okie-ville Musts

A friend and I saw this when we were going to Sauced, instead we came here. This place has a really artistic feel. The bartenders and waiters whom are decked out in skin art prove that as well. We were greeted by an attractive male waiter (wicked skin art) whom took our orders. Even when our orders were a little slow, he dropped by to assure us that "they are on the way". A singer-songwriter belted out in front of a crowd of roughly 10. One of the main reasons I chose Galileo over Sauced that night is because of the live music I heard from the streets.
I ordered a simple soft drink and the Galileo pizza my friend ordered the mushroom foccacia and a veggie pizza. I loved the pizza. It was small and perfect for one person. My friend enjoyed her foccaccia but wasn't too keen on the pizza. We will be returning soon for spoken word night. I just hope that waiter with the skin art is still there! -

last time I went though, the smoke was so thick you couldn't see the table you were sitting at. That was before the "breathe easy" bill though, so it might be smoke free now for all I know.

I agree with Alicia...Galileo's is a fantastic place! An artsy standby in the Paseo district, this place rocks the house with something fun going on every night. I recently attended a few of the poetry readings on Wednesday nights--great talent with a supportive and enthusiastic crowd. If you go, you simply must order the Chipotle Tortellini. This amazing dish is simple, spicy, cheesy, and soooo good! I crave it often. They also have pizza and sandwiches which are made fresh and delish. My boyfriend recently had a Mediteranean chicken sandwich but the hand cut fries stole the show. They also have a good selection of desserts to complete your meal.
Galileo's now serves Sunday brunch as well. I've never been, but I'd wager it's tasty.
They only downside is that it can be amazingly crowded and you have to seat yourself. Service can be slow, but the food is worth the wait and the servers will eventually find you. Everyone is welcome and you get a sense of family among the people who are regulars for the weeknight venue. Diversity and creativity are standard here, so come and enjoy. -

This place is as cool as it gets in Oklahoma City. Galileo's seems more in line with NYC's East Village than Oklahoma. I used to be a regular when I lived in the Paseo. The staff was great, and the customers were interesting. I recommend going on the open mic night. Lots of fun.
