Yet again venting my frustrations on Yelp. This week's victim: Galerias, where I went for a little birthday dinner with a few friends.

THE DECOR. Decor and ambiance was just puzzling. I couldn't decide if I was in church, my grandma's house, or an antique furniture gallery....the menu felt like the Oxford English Dictionary. I opened it and accidentally hit my face with the hefty chinzy corner of the menu. It hurt. Everything has an oversized feel, even the huge silverware.

THE SERVICE. The service was awful, but I am giving them the benefit of the doubt, because maybe this guy was just having a bad day. For most of the time, we were literally the only table in the restaurant, at 7pm on a Thursday night, and yet the waiter seemed perturbed when we made small requests. I asked for hot sauce and was looked at like I was some type of crazy person. No smiles at all. QUIERO MAS SONRISAS.

THE SERVICE PART 2: NOT APPEASING ME ON MY BIRTHDAY.
Now here is my little beef. In the beginning I wanted to practice my Spanish (which is actually quite good) and the waiter absolutely REFUSED to do so. He was having nothing of it and just looked pissed and annoyed with me. For goodness sakes, I am paying 15 bucks for an entree and you won't even appease my gringa love for practicing Spanish? Yes, I know it can be annoying, but humor me. He made me sad on my birthday. SHAME ON HIM.

THE FOOD. However, my mole was rich and yummy, good portions, yummy options for chips. And the other host guy was nice, not my main waiter. Good on the host guy.

THE END OF THIS REVIEW. This place is definitely like no other Mexican restaurant you'll experience in Seattle, but not in a good way. If you want something different, try La Carta de Oaxaca or even a taco truck, for goodness sakes.

Tried the brunch here. It's a solid mediocre two stars.

Went to the bathroom. It looked like a scene from "The Machinist" and reaked of vomit from the night before.

The place is gorgeous, and I would up the review for that, if it wasn't just as gorgeous while looking in the windows walking outside.

Looks like it might be a good place to drink a lot of tequila, judging by the display.

After many unsuccessful attempts to find a parking spot then going to Poppy to find they aren't open yet, my mother who was lacking patience wanted to find somewhere to eat RIGHT NOW! I looked across the street and saw Galerias and suggested it to my party. Both said fine.

We walked in to find the kitchen merely feet from us which was a bit daunting since we saw three pairs of eyes just staring at us. A man off to the side began to speak to us en espanol and we were escorted to a table. The interior of Galerias is immaculate. I felt as if I was in a mansion nestled in the back country of Spain. Religious artwork donned the walls and there was plenty of gold accents amongst the decor.

The point of our excursion was to have food and drinks at happy hour prices. I saw there was a bar in the back. I went up to the bartender who was standing erect with his hands crossed in front of his chest. Our interaction went as follows:

Me: "Do you have happy hour?"
Bartender: *nods his head yes*
Me: "Do you have food at happy hour prices?"
Bartender: *nods his head yes*
Me: "Do you have to sit at the bar to get happy hour prices?"
Bartender: *nods his head yes*
Me: "Oooookay, thanks"

The extremely friendly bartender had me already calculating my star count on here but I wiped that dirt off my shoulder and came back to the table to find an enormous silver menu awaited me. This thing looked like a book from a fairy tale. The pages were at least a half inch think and it was bound together with huge rings. We dove in and found the menu organized in sections: vegetarian, seafood, chicken, and chile rellenos. While we pondered our food choices chips and salsa were dropped off. The chips were crunchy and slightly greasy just how I like them. I decided to get vegetable enchiladas with a plobano sauce and feta cheese. My sister ordered an enchilada with beef and my mom a tortilla soup.

As we waited patiently for our food I eyeballed the food being taken to other tables. It looked delicious. Our food came and I dug in. The enchiladas were yummy. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and the rice, although white with veggies, was great. Sister liked her choice but my mom felt her soup needed more flavor.

After filling our bellies my sister and I chanted that we needed dessert.  Our waiter came by with a platter filled with a variety of choices. It was magnificent. I almost shed a tear because all these desserts were so lovely. I immediately ordered the white chocolate cake, my sister went with the espresso cake, and my mom got the cherry chocolate cake. My cake tasted as if it had been in the refrigerator a little too long but after I let it sweat a bit it was heavenly. I tried a bite of everyone else's dessert and it tasted just as good as it looked.

I enjoyed my time at Galerias. The food was great and the dessert was a perfect ending to our meal. Just be forewarned that the bartender chooses to be mute.

If you like MOLDY bread and WATERY flan then you should eat here!

Definetly not the impression I was hoping for especially when the atmosphere is unique and the menus were cool (huge silver assed thing).

We were first greeted by a chips, salsa, and a great cheese and onion dip which tasted great. On top of the chips, however, was bread. And it was MOLDY. WTF?! How can you not notice that when you're serving it?! The server didn't seem very apologetic about it which makes me assume that it's not the first time!

The entrees were great! So much flavor and presentation is great too. I ordered the Pork Tamales and the hubs had the Steak Fajitas.

After dinner we decided to go for some dessert. The server comes out with a huge silver platter with 5 desserts on it and says "This is all we have left"...and nothing else. Can you at least explain what you're showing me? Or do you have a menu so I can see a description and/or prices?! No!! Apparently they can't do any of that.

Hubs chose the obvious flan and I chose whatever looked chocolate - that brown thing.

Server came out with the flan and it was MELTED!! As a food server myself I know you should NEVER serve something that doesn't look right. Why would you even bring out a plate of watery flan and think it's ok?! He had some stupid excuse of why it looked like puke.

Not only that, but I'm pretty sure the damb server took the brown thing (chocolate dessert) off that platter, stuck it on a plate, and served it to me. It tasted like it had been sitting out all day...and looked that way too!!

The only reason I have to give this place 2 stars is because the entree was delicious and the atmosphere is fun. The amazing harpist adds another star. (She played our request - Bryan Adams Everything I Do)

Galerias is a beautiful, romantic space. Loft ceilings, regal chairs and tables, dramatic fabrics draped everywhere and an airy color scheme. Even the menus are beautifully styled (enormous silver that remind me of some of the hammered tin art I've bought in Mexico.)
The food is more upscale than any Mexican restaurant I know of in Seattle. Please don't come here with burritos and tacos on your mind. Try something more exotic- there's plenty to choose from on the unique menu.
I WANT to give Galerias 5 stars, because sometimes it has been just that good. Unfortunately, these guys need to step it up because things are inconsistent.
A good experience:
We ordered the amazing guacamole to start which comes with perfect  flautas. For dinner I had the Diego Rivera chicken. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was excellent.
A BAD experience:
-Ordered the guacamole to start. It never came.
-Ordered chicken mole. The waiter brought me another dish entirely. By the time he came back, my friend had finished her meal! The bitchy queeny waiter said to me (I shit you not.) "Why you didn't just eat what I brought you? It's good too." I had to laugh, because it truly was funny. but I insisted on a new plate to which he sighed and rolled his eyes.
I re-ordered and asked about our guacamole and said to just cancel it since my friend had finished eating. He brought the guacamole AFTER my second plate of food got there AND he charged me for it.
Now, I'm sure you are thinking I'm nuts for still giving 3 stars. I've had about 5 good experiences here and 2 bizarre ones. I'd say it's worth the gamble. It's sort of fun to see what will happen (in a sick way.)

As another yelper wrote, Seattle is rife with school-cafeteria Mexican restaurants, so Galerias is a pleasant diversion from the norm.

Some yelpers seem to dislike the decor but I enjoy experiencing something different. I like it when someone takes a chance. And as far as it being "inauthentic", Mexico is a huge country with many different kinds of restaurants.  So there.  Plus, they're from Mexico, so whatever they do is therefore "Mexican".  So double-there.

The food is great. Their sauces are delicious. Every dish has something special.

Others have mentioned bad service, so I'd be prepared for that. But  I've had attentive and super warm service from the owner.

Galerias is one of our favorite spots when we are hungry on Sunday mornings. A couple of weeks ago we went there for lunch.  John had the Moyete and I had the Entomatadas.  Food was great, service friendly and nice.  We finished with a slice of Cherry Chocolate Ganache. Yum!  We had a nice lunch and cant wait to go back!  We should definitely try their dinner (last dinner here was way too long ago) but, since we work every night, who know when dinner at Galerias can happen!

I have always been a fan of Galerias and my wife and I have been going there for years.  I love the mole enchiladas and the fact that while you are waiting for food, there  are puddings, fruits, pastries and cakes they have on the appetizer table (free with the main course).  Although the place seems awfully empty sometimes and I hope business is good for those who work there,  I have to admit I am glad that the place is kind of a secret.  There is a guy who works on Sundays who knows myself and my family pretty well.    As for the interior,  I have lived in Mexico and I understand what the aesthetic is there.  Sounds like a lot of locals don't get it.  They can just all go to Matador or Azteca then...

There was a time when Galerias was the most remarkable, innovative Mexican restaurant in Seattle, and it was constantly overcrowded. That time, unfortunately, has passed, as the restaurant has been leapfrogged by places like La Carta de Oaxaca, but they still do a few things well. Occasionally I get a craving for their Enchiladas con Mole Poblano, but they just seem sweeter than they used to be, so I usually get the roja or something that I haven't seen on any other Seattle Mexican menu.

Lunch is a pretty good deal. Their margaritas are a little too sweet for my taste, but a lot of people will dig the style, as they're a step up from most sketchy chain offerings.

The private dining room in the back is beautiful, though certainly not a style I'd emulate; it's adorned with great paintings, and often features dramatic centerpieces. If you need a place to dine with 20 close friends, it's worth booking this room.

The staff is always as pleasant as you are, but is often distracted, even when you're the only one in the dining room.

Three stars for inducing wistful nostalgia for their best days in the late 90s; it's no longer my first choice when I have the urge for Mexican food in Seattle, but has a quirky sense of style, a distinctive menu, and a decent tequila list. It's also in the middle of everything. I'll never turn down an offer to dine here, but I long for the days when they were a bit more obsessive, and served complimentary vegetales en escabeche.

Great place.. i've been here a few times now...  excellent location, at the north end of Broadway... so can go grab dessert at Dilettante Chocolates and grab a movie at Harvard Exit.  I remember the Avocado Gratin very well here... holy smokies it was good.  2 halves of an avocado stuffed w/ shrimp, tomatoes, cheese, etc. and broiled til a slight cheese crust is formed.   I tried making these at home and failed miserably! haha :)    Everything i had here was good and the ambiance is very warm and romantic, good date place in mid range price level.  There always seems to be a bit of a wait here but its worth it.

We ended up coming here for a friend of ours birthday. The interior decor was pretty insane, candles, giant paintings, it was kind of funky but cool.

Parking is a issue.

Out came dishes of chips and bread, with 2 kinds of salsa and a tasty spread. The spread was really good.

I ordered the Francisco Toldeo, which was extremely good, the whole sweet/spicy vibe was really well done. It was chicken with roasted jalapenos, pineapple and sauce of roasted coconut.

The end of the night did not end well however, we sat there with our checks ready to pay for about 15 minutes, as the waiter closed out other accounts. It was kind of annoying, but the food was good.

People are correct in saying that the location is great, but what a waste of space.  All of our food was cold and the server almost threw our food at us.  I live right down the street and will never go back...it's never packed for a reason.  The food is pretty much tasteless and the menu is a decoy in it's descriptions.  The descriptions of the food sound amazing, and when the food actually shows up it's soooo dissappointing.  I'm actually surprised they're still in business.

This is a great place to take your Greek grandmother that loves Mexican food made by Salvador dali. What a freaking weird experience.
The menus look like something out of a 1960's Bible movie. I have had better attention at cha cha, from a stuck up ugly hipster, visiting from bonney lake. The food almost made me throw up and I honestly could only take two bites. Hiding an inability to cook with overly rich flavors is unimpressive.
The saving grace. 42 oz margaritas that you can sip on while you wait over an hour for a bus boy to bring your dinner because the waiter is to busy counting the 3 tables that have people sitting at them(meaning it was pretty damn empty when I was there).

On the plus side, the amount of alcohol will make you forget the bad experiance. Do yourself a favor and slip yourself a ruffie while your at it.
I recommend this place if you are a masochist or on LSD.

Went to Galerias for dinner and drinks with some friends and it was really quite good. I personally fell in love with the Sangria and the Pork Taquitos with Guacamole!

The food has great flavor and uses fresh ingredients which make a world of difference for mexican food. The guac looked made to order and was seasoned well.

The service was good and point on. The bartender made the drinks well and great taste over all!

Thank God the host sat us outside.  The interior of this restaurant is just as others describe it.  It is a contrived and quite frankly, weird, combination of Southwestern colors with massive paintings in Baroque frames...there were even these white curtains hanging from the ceiling.

The service was some of the worst I have received from a restaurant with more than grease and fries on the menu.  Our waiter took our order promptly, but could not answer any of the questions we had about the menu.  He never came back to our table again except to drop off the check!  Someone else brought out our food and no one once offered to fill our waters.

I had ordered my food specially and not one of my requests were filled (even though they showed up on my ticket later!).  The cactus tasted like over-boiled green pepper and the wine in my mimosa had clearly gone flat looong ago.

I still give Galerias 2 stars because my friend told me she "liked" her food as she meekly shrugged her shoulders and the black beans came in a cute mini tortilla cup which was actually quite fun to eat :)

And again, the decor??  Nightmarish to say the least...

Here's the thing about Mexican food - there is no such thing as "fine dining".  Period.  Doesn't work.  Tapas is about as "fine" as it gets, and those are Spanish.

Galerias attempts to be the fine dining Mexican joint of Seattle, and while it is an absolutely gorgeous restaurant, it fails terribly.

I have eaten here at least three times, once for lunch and twice for dinner, and not once was I impressed with the food or the service.  In fact, the service is always quite awful.

But, why do we pay to eat food?  For the food.  Here it's really miss and occasionally hit.  I've had the Chicken Tamal, and two meat w/ sauce dishes, one chicken, one beef.  In all cases, the meat was dry.  With respect to the Tamal, it was dry, and the mesa was too dry.  The beans and rice were acceptable, but nothing spectacular.

The sauces are what this place really is, and should be, known for.  However, no matter how good a sauce, when it's put on poorly cooked meat, it's no good.

My other qualm is the lack of shredded beef or pork as a filling option for the Tamal, Enchiladas, or Burritos.  For me, this limits my choices in that I do like chicken, but my Mexican should have some shredded beef in it to be perfect!  Or at least non-ground beef!

This place tries, and succeeds, at being pretentious and over-priced, and while it may have taken numerous visits to get me to say this, I don't see myself returning.

The atmosphere is great, although the lighting could come down a hair.

My date and I ordered enormous 24 oz margaritas. They were good, could use just a bit more sugar but they did the trick.

Service was unimpressive, I felt as though the busser was more attentive to us than our actual server. We waited over an hour for our food and when our food finally arrived I did not actually get what I ordered but I didn't want to wait any longer so I ate it. Not sure what I had, but it was rich. I liked the rice but the crepe green chili thing was to smothered in cheese and again not what I ordered. My date ordered the Frida Kahlo and it was to fishy for him to even eat. Unimpressed with the food and service but I would be willing to give it another try, because I love the huge margaritas and atmosphere

I tried to go to Poppy on Friday night (I hear its good) but I couldn't get a seat because they were doing a J Crew photo shoot inside.  No wait, that's what it looked like, not what was actually happening?  Anyway, I took this as an opportunity to re-fall in love with 2 of my Capital Hill favs, Galeria's and B&O.

I haven't been to Galeria's in years, and I was so happy to be back.  I believe that inside all of us, somewhere, no matter how small, there is a little super flaming gay guy that wants everything to be fabulous.  Galleria's really appeals to that part of me.  The patron base here is odd, queens, youngsters, oldsters and people that don't think all Mexican food requires a melty cheddar cheese top.  This is a place for traditional food and rare tequilas.

So all of the food I had here was great.  The mole was great, the spicy pineapple chicken was great and, if you are so inclined the 34-ounce margarita has roughly 20 ounces of greatness with 14ounces of "Idon'tfuckingcare."  So I'm always happy with the dinner, the silver tome of menu is great, but you should also go to brunch.

To top off amazing food, plentiful booze and mirrored guilt (the gold kind) I must also mention the perfect atmospheric joy of Sara Reyna.  You see, Galleria's is a bit weird for the regular cap hill set, with their gastro pubs ands skinny jeans, but Sara the Harpist put the perfect touch on the evening when during the second course of dinner she began to play an ethereal rendition of Metallica's "Master of Puppets."  And she crushed it; I was playing doubled bass on the tabletop.

In Seattle we have no shortage of unauthentic boxed Americanized Mexican food. While I myself am about as gringo as it gets... I still love authentic rather than beans rice and cheese from a large chain.

This place is more than just amazing food. They can change your perception of what you think Mexican food really is. I tired a dish with a coconut sauce that tasted like it was made from scratch and simmered all day to perfection with fresh ingredients, to be honest I bet it was!

At Galerias its really more than just food, the restaurant itself has a beautiful example of a vibrant piece of culture. There were flowing tapestries, bright colors with dark romantic twists accented by a harp player. Yes I said harp! Every so often we would stop and say wait I know that song. It was more than the expected mariachi band I might have pictured.

My only complaint is I wish the menu was longer because everything looked great.

After living in Mexico on/off for upwards of 12 years of my life - I'm NOT a fan of "Mexican" food in Washington. I'm originally from California too so even down there we have much much better quality Mexican food.

That being said - I've really enjoyed eating at Galerias! The decor, the service, and most importantly the food are all great. Although I can't promise that all of the dishes are 100% authentic, the flavors are and you'll be pleased when you dine there.

In fact, the best experience I've had there was when I went in a big group to celebrate a birthday. They have a back room with a large dining table that is fantastic for big groups.

All in all I've found this place to be a really pleasant place to eat. Writing about it (after not having been there for months) makes me want to re-visit and go there again.

If you're looking for more than just Chili's or Baja Fresh type food (or good tequilas) check out Galerias get an actual taste of what the Mexican pallet is all about.

Tried Galerias for dinner on Saturday. We were the only patrons for a bit (which felt a little funny since it was 5:45pm). Menu items are original with a couple of savory dishes having Mexican chocolate in them. According to my dining partner, it was a great combination.

The dining atmoshere is glitzy with oversized menus in picture frames and spiral bound. A little much, but menus seemed to fit with the overall look of the restaurant.

It's a little pricey, but for those who can afford it, they have some nice menu items.

Not your typical mexican place. They are more high-end mexican- if there's such a thing?
Good food. Great tequila selection (absurd tequila selection actually- gotta be a couple of hundred different kinds).
Drinks are a little pricey.
I like this place becuase it's not your average mexican joint (like the one accross the street from it).

Seattle suffers (and Galerias benefits) from what I call "Mexican Desert Island syndrome".

What's that? Well, I'll tell you. It's when you have a dearth of good options and things that aren't 100% excellente, start to look pretty good in your eyes.

Where as I like the food here and the Cadillac and Patron margaritas are as deadly as they are delicious, sometimes Galerias gets a little lax due to lack of competition. Staff gets slow or inattentive, etc.

Bad review abound, but I still recommend this place, just remember, you're in Seattle, not SoCal or Texas or Florida or Arizona or ....

Does it get any better than this?  Ok, so the service is slow, but you're meant to linger and enjoy your food, this is not the place to get a "quick bite to eat."  You could spend an hour just examining the case of oddly shaped and decorated tequila bottles.  The decor is elegant and eclectic at the same time, the food is divine.  Truly!  Their poblanos are rich in flavor, the avocado sauce featured in several of their entrees is so creamy and seductive, you might find yourself licking the plate afterward.

They not only have amazing dinners, but on weekends, they serve brunch, which includes your choice of breakfast or lunch entree plus all you can eat pastries, fruit and yogurt.  The price isn't bad, either.  And stay for dessert if you're dining late, for they have sumptuous pastries to sample--provided you have the room.

Mexican food doesn't sit well with me, but I absolutely loved dinner at Galerias. It's a sexy restaurant with dim lighting, white drapes, and a vast collection of tequila bottles.

The food takes a long time, but there's bottomless chips and salsa to keep you from starving. We began with the Aguacate Relleno (baked avocado topped with shrimp, garlic, mushrooms, and cheese), which was a huge hit. I've never had anything quite like it--and I've lived on 4 continents.

The Francisco Toledo (chicken stuffed with pineapple, chili, and cheese with coconut sauce) was simply amazing. I had no idea Mexican food could be so fruity, so light, and have layers of taste as well.

I was incredibly full by now, but since I was on vacation--I had to have dessert. The white chocolate cake didn't disappointment; it was creamy, moist, and just scrumptious.

I don't know when I'll be back in Seattle, but I found out there's a Galerias in Las Vegas--I'm looking forward to trying this one!

Okay, here's the deal - five stars for Latino night on Saturdays and the cumbia they play!  Norteña, the DJ does not spin.

But about two stars for the dining.  The dishes are well-prepared, but the service is slow and sketchy.  C'mon, Ramiro, we know you can do much better!

Walked in here not really knowing what to expect. Was worried it would be another tired Mexican restaurant masquerading as a quality establishment.

Very happily surprised. Ordered the Jose Luis Cuevas chicken dish - amazing. Really good mole sauce and just the right sized serving. And the price was really much less than you'd expect by looking at the place. Definitely worth a try!

Amazing food and atmosphere! We went with a small group of friends to celebrate and were surprised that the prices were reasonable given how elegant the restaurant appears. Every dish ordered received Mmms and Ahhs with each bite. If you like Mexican cuisine and are in downtown/Capitol Hill Seattle, don't miss this spot. Great for dates! The service was wonderful. We initially were seated in a cozy corner, but moved to a spot closer to the window upon request.

After looking at the other reviews on here, I guess we went on a good night.

Came here with a friend after our original, let's-cook-tonight plan fell through. We came to this place since it's near my apartment and I haven't done mexican food in a while. I ordered the Mole Pablano, while my friend ordered the Maria Izquierdo.

I ordered the Mole because I've never had any, and apparently it's an authentic mexican dish. The sauce has chocolate in it, which intrigued me even more. Maybe it's just not my cup of tea, but the sauce that accompanied my chicken tasted smokey and wasn't complimentary to the dish. I mean, it's okay, but I wouldn't be ordering the dish again. My friend's dish, though, was better, although anything made with cheese is good to me. Her portion, though, is much smaller than mine, which is not good.

I think the price is too expensive based on the quality of food that we had, so it might be a while before  I come back here again.

This place started off on the wrong foot, but ended the evening well.  When we arrived I was with my Dad who has a service dog.  The first guy we encountered tried to refuse service because of the dog.  I protested in Spanish and finally they let us in.  (-1 star).

We talked a little about living in Ensenada and after that, it seemed they tried to rectify the previous dog situation.  It was 7:00 on a Friday and we didn't wait very long (not long enough to finish the chips, thank god!) Their recommendations were great, I wasn't sorry for listening to their advice.

I had the Maria Izquirdo and also tried a Mole, both sauces were good.

The harpist was a fantastic touch, she played everything from "Landslide" to "When I'm 64".

Oh, are you waiting for a review? Well, I'm still waiting for my food at Galerias.

Let's start the clock, shall we?
5 minutes - Seated in empty restaurant
10 minutes - Water arrives
15 minutes - Drink orders are taken
30 minutes - Dinner order is taken
35 minutes - Drinks delivered
60 minutes - Drinks are gone and dinner is still not there
90 minutes - Food arrives cold

Repeat that three times and you realize they are not just having an "off night."  It's a shame because their food has so much potential and their atmosphere is great - I should know I've had to sit there for a long time.

I really want to hate on this restaurant all day long and give it one star. Why? The food is way too fusion for me (I like my Mexican to be just that), the service can be slooooooow, and the prices are steeper than they should be.

But I still can't give them just one star.

The sangria is to die for, the harpist is a nice touch, the giant open windows create a wonderful atmosphere in the summer, the staff is quite sassy, and the menu has clever plate names.

I just wish the decor didn't look like Liberace went south of the border, got a tan,  took some Spanish lessons,  and then threw up gold plated touches on everything inside because it can be distracting to me when I eat.

Came here for brunch last weekend after spotting the $6.95 brunch sign outside. They have a page of menu items to choose from and then you get to visit the dessert/fruit buffet. I ordered a chicken burrito. Um. I dunno. It was okay. I couldn't spot the cheese or sour cream in there as described in the menu, and the rice seemed strangely like Asian rice... not what I'm used to in a burrito. It did come with a little salad though, which was a nice unexpected surprise though nothing to write home about. The dessert  table was pretty good. It had some pineapple upside down cake which was yummy, some sort of pie with a nice pastry crust which was also tasty, and yogurt, fruit, and granola which I didn't try. It's a good deal and all but honestly I'd rather get my Mexican fix at Rancho Bravo where it's cheaper, much tastier, and faster. It's fancy in a bit of a gaudy way inside the restaurant and all but I don't really care for all that when I go out for Mexican. Probably won't be going back. Far too many other good choices on the street.

How has nobody mentioned the harpist? You know, the one playing "Stairway to Heaven" and "Classical Gas"? She was awesome, if for nothing more than trying to come up with a request that would stump her.

The decor was kinda cool, definitely eclectic. Does anybody know what the projector & screen are for?

The food was unique but hit and miss as previously mentioned. I had a flank steak with cactus in a pepper & flower reduction that was interesting, though I wouldn't order it again.

Tacos and harps, very surreal.

So the food was OK but who cares when you are practically ignored by the wait staff ... I felt like I was on this invisible island in the back of the place and they honestly didn't care if I gave them my business or not. It took 10+ minutes for anyone to even ACKNOWLEDGE my presence, and besides that, I have a little rule with Mexican places, if my f*ing salsa runs out and the place isn't busy, what excuse is there? My food took 20+ minutes to come out after I was FINALLY allowed to give my order ...

Although honestly I think it was just me because no one else seemed as preturbed... the food was OK though but I think I'll just stick to Pesos Lounge in Queen Anne.

Wow! So many bad reviews!

I haven't been to Galerias in about 3-4 months but have eaten here numberous times and always left feeling very satisfied with service, food, and prices. Not sure if things have changed...

As a fan of latin food it's nice to see a mexican resturant that doesn't serve rice, beans, and cheese in 46 diffrent variations. This place has a great mole sause (except for the white one, I think it was a special and it was nasty), a huge tequila selection with all my fav's plus lots of others for me to discover, and the atmosphere is very impressive.

My favorite dish is the "Jose Luis Cuevas"!! DELICIOUS!

(I would of given them a 5 star except for the one experince with the white mole sause that made me want to vomit! )
