    I love this place!!

They are closed on Sundays, which is unfortunate. I swear I tried to go get food four Sundays in a row only to walk up and realize that it was Sunday. Fail.

My initial introduction to this restaurant was through take-out/delivery. They have a $15 minimum, very easy to choose two or three items to meet that value. My roommate and I love the Seafood Soup in coconut milk and we always get a side of coconut infused rice to add to the broth. They have some great Thai staples for everyone. I love their strawberry iced tea, so yummy!

They have an extensive list of foods available and everything I have eaten so far has been fantastic. My knowledge of Thai food in this town is a work in progress but as of now Galanga is my favorite!

I was looking for a Thai place close to the office for delivery. I chose Galanga because it was down the street less than 1-1/2 miles. I was a little disappointed they were charging for delivery since it's not that far, plus it was hard to find their current menu/prices online.

Still the food was on-time, fresh, tasted great, and priced reasonably for what you get. It's worth it for us to get our orders together and get delivery again.

I went here a few times in 2008 and seemed to enjoy it at lunchtime.

I have since gone back in 2011 as I work in the hood now.

It's pretty good, the portions are large.  The Thai Iced Tea is ginormous!

One of the better Thai restaurants I have found in WEHO, but still on the prowl for the best!

I was at a friend's house so we ordered delivery.

I had the Shrimp Pad Thai and their summer roll. Shrimp was in abundance as was the flavors and the fresh spinach in the summer rolls were perfectly crisp.

This is one of those hidden gems in LA that you must try.  They serve affordable and DELICIOUS thai food that I am absolutely obsessed with.

They have a great lunch special, items starting at $5.99 and have a HUGE menu.  I ordered the Pad Thai (of course, that's what I always order) and it was delicious.  Not too sweet, spicy (i requested they make it extra spicy for me) and had very fresh ingredients.  I also shared the House Lettuce Wraps with my friends, and OMG, this is a MUST TRY item!  It has a LARGE amount of crab and shrimp for the price.  It was slightly acidic but great to cut the richness of the seafood.  I can dream about those lettuce wrap for days!

The service here was also excellent.  They had very attentive servers, always refilling your water whenever it was half full, they packed your leftovers togo  for you.

Overall, I had an awesome experience here and am looking forward to my next visit!

I was very much hoping that this would be my new "go-to" Thai place that was close to home like Thai Boom (love this place so much) used to be back when I lived on the Westside. Alas, no. This place quite frankly is only mediocre despite having some pretty stellar reviews.

Here let's start with what was good:
I did enjoy the summer rolls. They were well made and came with an excellent dipping sauce which was different from the standard peanut one.

I also tried the pad thai (I mean I just have to, it's like the standard dish) and the "Noodle Devil" dish. Pad Thai was blah. There was something a bit off about the taste and I've had so many versions of this dish to compare to at this point that I just can't stomach one that isn't up to snuff. The Noodle Devil dish was pretty good mainly because of the spicy sauce. If you're craving spice, this one is a decent choice.

I suppose I was just underwhelmed with this place especially considering the glowing reviews. I give them props for speedy take-out service but I'm on the hunt for a better neighborhood Thai place.

Galanga is not the best thai food i have ever had but it hits the spot when you are in that area.

Their wanton soup is good but has a lot of salt.

Their pad thai isnt good at all very greasy and salty.

Thai food isn't always the healthiest, but Galanga Thai Fusion is still ridiculously good while also having a lot of fresh, healthy choices.  Their delivery is very fast (and the delivery boys are CUTE), and the food is always hot.  I haven't been disappointed with anything I've ordered yet.

In short, I LOVE this restaurant.  Eating in is enjoyable - nice ambiance - and take out is easy.  Eat here!

Galanga Thai is a little hole-in-the-wall fusion Thai restaurant in West Hollywood.  While it is probably one of the best Thai joints in the neighborhood, I would not go out of my way to seek it out.

Why, you ask?  Well, the restaurant is cute and cozy.  The service is good but food was just okay.  They've played with the menu to meet the tastes of their non-Thai customers and while in some places they've succeeded, I found a bit lacking in others.

    What we had:
Summer Roll $5.95 : Basically lettuce and one strip of tofu wrapped in rice paper served with a hot creamy mango sauce.  The mango sauce was amazing! This truly enhanced the dish.  Without the sauce the dish would have been utterly boring and a rip-off considering it really was a bunch of wrapped lettuce in rice paper.  I truly would recommend a crunchy component added to it; Carrots? Fried wontons? Bean Sprout perhaps?

House Lettuce Wrap $10.95 : Steamed shrimp & crab with lime, ginger, scallions, cilantro & shallots.  This was not the dish I was expecting from the name. Think of this as a Thai ceviche sitting inside a cup of cabbage served with 3 lettuce leaves.  It was a bit fishy but I liked the flavors and all its components.

Pad Kee Mow w/Tofu $7.95 : Pan-fried flat noodle w/Basil. This is a traditional favorite of mine.  I get this everywhere.   This was not the best and not the worst; palatable, but not exciting in any way.

The Emerald $8.95 :  Buckwheat noodles w/Green Chicken Curry.  This was recommended to us by the server.  I had asked the server whether these were soba noodles.  He told me "no" but when the dish came, I discovered that they were.  If you know soba, you know that they get soft and soggy.  This characteristic coupled with Green Chicken Curry was a bit much.  The dish was heavy and mushy and after a few bites we gave up on it.

But they're definitely doing something right.  Galanga has an avid fan base and tons of business.

I love Thai food. I LOVE Thai food from this place.
    An interesting fusion restaurant.

First things first. The place is rather small so watch out for that around the meal time rush hours. And the parking lot that is shared with Fatburger fills up fast because it's so tiny.

After that's out of the way, we were greeted by smiling waiters and promptly seated because of the odd time we came at (around 4pm). Their selections were amazing, and I was impressed with their fusion choices. Thai burritos? Woah.
A couple of friends decided to order the Thai iced tea, and I later wished I too had ordered one after a sip. Not too sweet and very smooth.

The servers were extraordinarily friendly, giving out recommendations based on what we were feeling and suggesting a couple of things that seemed to suit our interests

I ordered the basil with tofu, and because I was with a rather large party, I had trouble keeping track of who ordered what.
I enjoyed my basil with tofu although I should have stopped eating those peppers that they just have on the table. Those really burn.
I was also really impressed with the small bit of emerald I tasted, which was in a green curry sauce over buckwheat noodles and the chicken Thai burrito.
The portion sizes here are rather large, as my friend who ordered the Pad Thai had his plate come stacked very very high. He finished about half before he was done.

The bill came waaaaay below what we thought it would come out to our pleasant surprise.
Bottom line: rather inexpensive high quality Thai food, with a menu with all sorts of interesting things to choose from

Galanga has the best Thai food in the Hollywood area.  The Pad Kee Mao and the Coconut Soup are amazing.

The delivery is sometimes very fast - once I ordered and the food was at my door in 12 minutes (no joke).

The only thing that sucks about Galanga is sometimes they take the phone off the hook if they get busy, so you can't order delivery.  Not cool, but whatever.

Steamed salmon with sauce and coconut brown rice. Simple food it sometimes so delicious.. I really enjoyed this meal. I would definitely come back here. Good sized portions, I shared with someone because I wasn't too hungry.. Then I couldn't stop eating it haha.

Nice hole-in-the-wall.. Cozy but not too close to your neighbors. Great set up.

My friends and I ate here last week, was very tasty.

We tried the sample appetizer for 2, their spring rolls had nothing in them really but lettuce, still very good.

I also tried the Pad Thai which was really good! Their fried rice was really good too. My friends tried a beef noodle dish, which was also great. And, a Thai noodle pasta, which he really enjoyed.

Will definitely be a returning customer- especially since they deliver!

This is a hidden gem for good Thai food in LA. Never seen the place too busy. The do the usual standards like Pad Kee Mao (Drunken noodles) and Pad Thai very well. Can't say the same for Chicken Satay though.

Another advantage is that the menu is fairly extensive. The food is surprisingly cheap ($6 lunch specials!) and the service has always been stellar. Many dishes do not come with rice, though (okay by me, fair warning is all).

There is limited parking that is shared with the grocery/pharmacy next door.

I've been to Thailand and can vouch that Galanga serves up the real deal. I was out getting a smog check and Yelp searched this place. The lunch special is a bargain. $6.95 for a curry, rice and a salad. I had the panang curry with chicken. All ingredients seemed fresh and my stomach left super satisfied.

Everything I've had here has been wonderful!

I can't eat gluten, so I was relieved to hear that most of their dishes use fish sauce instead of soy sauce.  I still stay away from things like Pad Se Yew... but the curry is wonderful, the soup is great, the menu is huge, and I LOVE their coconut rice.  Their cilantro lime fish is a treat I love to get on occasion as well!

If you're looking for delivery in the evenings, order before you start to get hungry, because they can be hard to get through to in the evenings.  You can look their menu up online while you wait for the busy signal.

This review is based on solely one visit.

On the way out from Griffith Observatory, we ventured out to the West Hollywood area.
Driving down Santa Monica Blvd, while boyfriend was trying to show me where he partied at back in the day, we find Galanga.
Mostly, we stop because I really had to pee.

We walk in and we're seated instantaneously.
As we're waiting for our server, I look around and mention that the place looks like an interior decorator was hired for the job.
    Very well put together.
I was trying very hard to not watch myself eat due to the mirror along the whole wall.
I know it was done to make the room seem bigger.
but I couldn't help it. haha

The menu was actually very good.
Sections went from Thai Fusion to Green to Noodles to Curries to Burritos!
Every section that I looked through, I found a handful of plates that I really liked, which is hard for me.

We decided to get their Summer Rolls as an appetizer.
i absolutely love rice paper so of course i was excited.
the mango sauce it was on was absolutely delicious.
the only modification i would ask for the rolls, would be to add a crunch factor into it.
the contrast in textures would work out great.
    maybe bean sprouts??

We split the Red Curry, which was our entree.
The plate was actually a good size.
Sweet and the thai basil made it delicious!
We ended up being satisfied due to us getting a bowl of rice to eat with our curry.

All in all, successful find in l.a., which we're not too familiar with..well at least with the good places to eat.

    Angie approves!

Not really the authentic Thai style of cooking, but definitely gives great quality food!  Presentation sometimes really does do the trick to help make the food taste better.

Compared to other Thai restaurants in LA,  Galanga is a more intimate setting, and you can consider it to be a fancier type of venue. The great thing is that it does not reflect on the prices. Still stays pretty cheap! :) oh....and service is friendly and great!!

I have yet to try some of the $15 seafood entrès, but I am dying to! I always get their Strawberry Iced Tea. (me likey)

Other than the modern, definitely more americanized way of cooking, I would highly recommend people to try 'Galanga'! And...on some lucky occasion, you might run into some Glee cast member. ;)

So, I would believe that it is safe to say that I have had my fair share of Thai food in my life. I love Thai food. I will almost always opt for as mountain of Pad Thai over anything else.

With that in mind, I have MAJOR beef with you, LA yelpers.

How DARE you steer me here via the Yelp app.  For shame. Go sit in the fetal position in your shower for a few hours until you've learned your lesson.

Ok, first off, seeing burritos in any Thai place that wants to be taken seriously should have been a tip off.  Because what the hell is a Thai burrito?

I was too hungry to change locations (although I should have, there was a fatburger right next door), so I just got my standard chicken Pad Thai.

I also shared an order of the rangoons and the fried wontons with my dad who was in town for the weekend. Now, those are decent. I liked the rangoons and I fought my dad for the last wonton. An solid start.

And that brings us to the main course. My dad got the Thai pasta (WTF?) and I got my classic.  I am not a fan of fusion for the sake of novelty, and my dad should have known better. The pasta was oily, and flavorless. My pad thai was bland, and quite frankly, boring and had too many sprouts. The ratio has to be better considering all the ingredients.

I did take it home and doused it in sriracha to give it some much needed flavor, but that only barely saved it.

LA Yelp, step your game up. Same to you Galanga.

A friend of mine turned me onto this place. We were sick of having business meetings at the same places over and over. He mentioned some people had ordered from Galanga one night and that we should go there.
If I only knew of the place from the exterior alone, I would not have had have high expectations. However, I kept in mind what my friend said and we had a late lunch here.
I  ordered their Pad Thai noodles and their pineapple fried rice. Both were excellent. I was so impressed that I ordered some sesame noodles with peanut sauce to go. Everything was so fresh and tasty that I have now been going on a regular basis and telling friends about it. I know, I know.....there is a Thai restaurant about every 100 ft in L.A., but a lot of them suck. Galanga, does not. Judge for yourself.
They have parking and are very reasonably priced.

Maybe I was eating at a different establishment then the rest of the reviewers, but my experience (takeout, so judging by food quality alone) was pretty downright 'meh'.

My dining companion and I ordered pretty basic dishes; the Tom Kha chicken soup, an order of mixed veggies with tofu, and the vegetable yellow curry. The soup, while mega-portioned, had only a smattering of chicken and mushrooms in it. Nothing else. It was like 90% broth! Yawn. The mixed veggies were equally yawn-tastic, and the tofu was definitely overcooked. The curry was solid, but not amazing enough to make up for the boredom of the other two dishes.

After museum hopping all day in LA, the group was famished and getting cranky, so we decided to find a spot for dinner. "Here Sarah," said Rebecca, "you'll do better on the Yelp." So I navigated the Yelp app and came up with three options to vote on. Thai won, so we gave all the peeps the address for Galanga and headed off.

I called ahead and asked if we needed a reservation for a group of 13. The guy that took my call didn't miss a beat and just asked when we'd be there. "30 minutes," I replied, because, although we were only a couple miles away, I had had enough of LA traffic to know that 2 miles didn't mean squat in this town. "Oh!" he replied. "No problem! We'll set it up."

Galanga is tiny; our group took up practically the entire place. The service was very attentive, though; we all got the correct orders, our glasses kept getting refilled, and everyone enjoyed their meal.

Nathan and I split the Thai Salad (yum), The Bangkok (yum yum), and the coconut soup with chicken (I can't remember the official name of it, but it gets a yum yum yum from me!). Other folks had ordered some appetizers that we all shared - I liked the Calamari a lot, and LOVED the fried tofu.

The bill came to about $14-15 per person (including appetizers and drinks). Not too bad for a nice dinner out. Everyone was raving about their choices, except for Chad, whose Teriaky (sp?) Chicken was a bit on the sweet side.

I would definitely give this place my business again the next time I'm in LA.

Over the past year or so I've found that the quality of the food here has declined. Lately things seem oversalty and oddly seasoned.

Nothing is every spicy enough for me, but they do have dried chili if you ask for it.

The coconut rice is great though, but it's almost more of a dessert, very rich and creamy!

$5.95 lunch specials are a really great deal.

Probably one of my favorite places in West Hollywood. What started out as a questionable hole-in-the-wall Thai Food place, has proven everyone wrong as it has grown and grown in popularity over the years.
It isn't all entirely "authentic" Thai food, but this is West Hollywood afterall. You wan't more 'authentic" then you are on the wrong side of town!  I can say I have never ordered anything that I did not like. The food is always very good and the prices can't be beat-- especially the lunch specials. $4.95 for lunch?! Seriously-- you can't even get fast food for that price.
Very laid back initimate setting, polite staff, outdoor patio available during good weather... There is nothing bad about this restuarant!

Overall, I had a great experience eating here. Really nice folks and good service. Had the red curry and you get a lot of food for what you pay.  Only knocks I have are that 1.) the waiter asked if I wanted white or brown rice, giving me the impression it was included with the curry, but it was $1.50 extra, and 2.) the waiter dropped off a plate for my table setting and, as he was setting it down, noticed a speck of food on the edge of the plate, wiped it off with his thumb and then looked right at me as if see if I was going to say anything. I didn't, and he walked away. Not a big deal, but thought that was kinda funny.

The best lunch deal in the city! It's also the only place I will order from. They are always timely and never mess up my order. The pad thai is so phenomenal, as well as the rest of the menu!
