5 reviews for Gadabout Salon and Day Spa
It's wonderful to find a salon that is not overpriced and provides excellent service. Since moving to Tucson I'd been having my hair cut at any of the hundreds of "discount" salons that seem to inhabit every corner. No matter how simple the cut (I'm a guy... it's not that hard!) the "stylists" at these discount salons just couldn't manage to make my hair look decent. It was forever too short in the wrong places or they left me with cowlicks and sent me out looking like Alfalfa in the Little Rascals. It was horrible.
I finally found Gadabout thanks to a neighbor and made an appointment. My stylist is Anise and she does a beautiful job. In my first appointment I gave her a free hand to see what she managed. The style she did was a wonderful short razor cut that was both stylish and businesslike. I was thoroughly pleased and the $35 price tag was not outrageous.
With that said, the on-line services listed say that you are entitled to a pre-style neck massage and hot towel treatment. I received neither of those services during my visit.
I will say that the wait was very short for my appointment, less than 5 minutes and Anise took a good deal of time consulting with me about the style and what I wanted.
Overall, I was quite pleased and enjoy the professionalism and artistry of the staff. I also found the facilities to be quite nice.
Maritza is a fantastic colorist. She is professional, consistent, and a great person!
The salon itself is great. The front desk staff are super nice and are always friendly when I come in. I've had great, friendly service 99% of the time at this Gadabout.
Highly recommended!
This is a great salon. Renee is a fantastic stylist. I miss her. She's great with color and updos for special events.
This place was a disappointment. The front desk staff ignored me after I checked-in. The ambiance was noisy and the place smelled of hair products/perms.
My massage was okay but not great. My daughter liked her hairdresser but I could not believe the price -- $85 -- and all she got was a cut and a shampoo. BEWARE. After talking to a few other parents, I've learned that Gadabout often does a "bait and switch". You think you're getting a $65 service and it suddenly becomes $85 because they claim they gave you a "better" massuer or they claim that they used more expensive products on your face or hair.
Compared to Spa One, Gadabout is way overpriced and the services aren't even as good.

Ok when you're in Tucson and you have a minor tweaking to be done on your hair-- like a glossing moisturizing treatment from the hot dry air...well this is the place to go :-) And why not add a blow out with that please...Everyone from receptionist to hair stylists were courteous and go out of their way to help you :-) Thanks !
