One of G-Star Raw's Favorite Reviews What's This?
What can I say about G-Star... The staff is Awesome and the clothes are super sweet! They just finished their Semi Annual sale and it was great. The prices were reasonable, but then again, that is the point of a sale! My only gripe is the shoes are not sold in the US... WHYYYYY!!!!

I love their jackets, the style is kind of a mix between futuristic, utility & army. They are so freaking cool, but not cheap...jackets on average run about $240 & they are very thin, not a jacket that will actually keep you warm. They also sell jeans (the jeans are pretty popular), t-shirts, shirts, sweaters and various other items.
The store has a lot more guys clothing than girls, it has an industrial feel & the people that work there are willing to help.
Even though G Star is expensive and will leave you pocket empty, at least you will look good; so then maybe you can find a date to pay for dinner.
This is my favorite store hands down. Always able to find something I like and the employees go above and beyond to help. Last time I went in my new fav employee there (since rio left), Reuben, actually gave me and my partner a high five. Theres a review about the apple store a woman wrote about how the employees there are and how after dropping a G or 2 you want a high-five or SOMETHING.
The customer service in this store is a perfect balance between not being in the way or leering and magically appearing when you have a question.
p.s. the boots are sold now at Flippa K about two blocks away as well as shoes at Nordstroms
Now that im a local, I can call this my store! Im an art student so I know whats hot! Very cool! I always love whats out on the racks!

The customer service is the right balance of helpful but not pushy. And their style---sort of pushing euro but not euro trash---was a welcome addition to my wardrobe. I can't take off the jeans and jacket I purchased. Who knew spending lots 'o C-notes could be enjoyable...

I'm not very good at style; sometimes I can't even dress myself in the morning. So I never thought I'd be a fan of G-Star... until I actually tried on some of their fits.
Ok, ok, not "some", but A LOT of their stuff.
I went through what seemed like a ton of clothes, but none of which I could justify spending a ton of cash on. But every time I do, I found myself in a state of wonderment, inching toward a particular fashion that I was always hesitant to pull off. I'm big whoring fan of their jackets, and a few lines of their bootcut jeans. I think I could totally do it, pardon the cash required to do so.
What really added that fifth star were the salespersons. They were lookin' out for little old me by telling me to hold off until a week later for the sale. They also waited on me, hand and foot until I realized I wasn't ready to take the plunge on all three pairs of jeans and four pairs of tops.
I'm switching styles next time.

I asked one of my friends who purchases all of his clothing online or from G-Star, the following question, "Why is G-Star the uniform of choice for the late-20, early-30s male tech set in SF?"
He answered, "Oh easy. They're clean-cut and sort of expensive-looking enough to make you feel legit, but cool and whoah-look-at-all-these-pockets enough to make you also feel like a ninja."
But personally, I think this is the answer, "G-Star is Diesel for straight guys."

Ruth is my absolute favorite! She was so kind, sincere and not pushy at all. She did a great job catering to my needs trying to find a nice lightweight gray jacket for myself. She offered a few different styles as well as colors for all the choices but I was definitely satisfied with the one I ended up buying.
Every time I've come here, they've had some form of promotion happening whether it was a buy one get one half off or this week's buy any 2 items get the 3rd one free.
I'm a customer for life, I hope this location never closes... and they get shoes.

I love G-Star. I love the layout of the store. I love the clothes here even though the price point is very high. I only own one of their jackets, but it's one of my favorite. Their sale prices are decent. I still have yet to try their jeans, but I will soon enough.
The staff here is really helpful & really friendly. When I was having trouble finding the right jacket, one of the sales associates here pulled a lot of styles out for me in sizes XXS-XS to try on & I was able to find the right one. Every time after that, the others have been just as helpful & friendly.

A bit expensive for the quality, but the best customer service I've ever had in any chain retail store. Employees have been very flexible and accommodating about returns, refunds, exchanges. Once when I was displeased with how fast a pair of jeans I had purchased had developed a tear in them, they exchanged them for a brand new pair nearly 6 months later.
Because of this, while you can buy their denim at nearly any department store, I recommend going to the actual store for the customer service in case something should go wrong.

If I had written this review maybe a year ago, I would have given G-Star a lower score, primarily because their customer service was lacking. On numerous occasions I was ignored by the staff, probably because they profiled me and didn't think I'd buy anything. One staff member treated my friends and I as if we were diseased and would not help us at all, even though we had shopped there before. It became so uncomfortable for us that we refused to even go inside the store if he was working on that day.
I don't know if it's because the staff has received rigorous customer service training OR they realized their sales were slipping due to the recession, but the staff has become friendlier. They'll even go out of their way to call you if something you were interested in had come in shipment.
Price aside, G-Star quality is excellent and clothing will last if properly laundered. I'm 5'4 and it's hard to find short outerwear that cuts just right. G-Star never fails to disappoint as I always find at least one or two coats that fit right. The jeans are awesome. Again, being short I always have difficulty finding the right cut- but with the improved customer service at the store, my last visit was a success when the associate knew exactly what I wanted and was able to present me with the right pair.
I happened to be in town again the other day, and as with every other opportunity I get, I decided to stop by G Star Raw to salivate over the offerings. This time, I noticed a bit of new decoration, some sort of tags placed on top of each rack. Upon closer inspection, I was able to make out the words...
RAW SALE!
Remembering exactly where I found my favorite jacket (along with the $260 price tag), I dashed on over to the aisle, completely ignoring the kind greeting of the employee. In that very location, I spotted only three left... and one was in my size!
Okay, deep breath, Eric. Take a look at the price to see if you are really in for some good news, or just being led on. With one eye covered, I glanced down at the tag...
YELLOW STICKER! Price reduced to $140!
Jackpot! This, coupled with the fact that I inexplicably found a $100 bill rolling on the street a couple hours before officially made this the best day in months.
Ironically, the jacket model is called "Strate," but at almost half price marked down, I guess I'm not so crazy after all.

I love this line. The outerwear and shirts have such a great and tailored fit. The staff is very helpful without being pushy. My only gripe is the latest collection just didn't move me like one's past. My excitement has been renewed by some of their more recent items coming in.
I like some of there stuff in SMALL doses , the staff could do with a cup of coffee to perk them up, maybe they do not work on commissions so they do not really care to help you when you walk in the door.
I also suppose that they look at the age of the person & decide who they help first.
If I were a guy, Id' be shopping here all the time Their clothing is HOT! Heck, so what if I'm not a guy, you'd still catch me shopping here =) This location also happens to be next door to one of my favorite shops (Agent Provocateur).
Unfortunately, the women's selection is very limited...makes me think of a corner of a closet. But today, I found something cool to purchase and had some cute women's accessories.
Additionally, their shopping bag is attractive and very sturdy. I love it!

Ask M'lady and she'll tell you that I loves me my G-Star but damn was I bit disappointed with this store. I seriously expected to be totally blown away by my shopping experience at this local G-Star store but sadly I wasn't too impressed.
And yes I know they were having a sale and a lot of the other "label whores" probably beat me to the good stuff(thanks for the heads up Senor Darin I). But I was so planning on dropping a fat wad of cash from my Shrimp farming days but I guess I will have to invest my entire $12 zillion dollar fortune elsewhere.
But don't worry G-Star I still heart you and I promise to give you another chance the next time I am in townz.

If you need a store with jeans that cost a lot and look slightly different from other jeans come here. Totally for the crowd with money to burn.
Note you can by there jeans at Villians
I don't wear the line for the girls
but I swear
every single guy that wears their stuff....suddenly looks hotter. I don't know why. Kinda steep for the price, but it looks good.

My favorite denim brand ever! Even better, they host little parties when they have their bigger sales (margaritas and snacks included!). They have great customer service and they help you find what style, size, and cut that you are looking for and I'm sure you won't find just one pair that you like. They have great jackets as well and I really want to save up for one because these things don't come cheap!
Super recommended from a loyal customer. This brand is RAW.

For me... these are expensive jeans. But I will sell crack for a pair...lol (kidding).
how i got sold on this store: i was trying on a pair of jeans..
me (to my brother as i'm showing them to him outside of the dressing room): what do you think? these jeans are kindda off the wall for me.
my brother to me: um... the stitching kind of brings attention to your crotch. and... um those pockets on the backside, dude... i can't stop looking at your butt... it looks bigger in those.
me to salesperson: i'll take this pair, please...
4 pairs later, and i need to buy another pair when they go on sale....

Ruuuuth,
Pay DAY!!!!
Went during my lunch break so I was in a hurry. I frickin love Gstar. i'd literally wear almost everything in the store if I had the money. The staff was super attentive. Ruth grabbed me a few things she thought would look good.
I ended up getting a sick new Spring jacket and a short sleave button up shirt, that looks sharp.
P.S. if they don't have your size there, they can ship it for free to the store, or to you directly for only 5 bucks...
GSTAR!!!!

daaaaaamn, g-star has a semi annual sale??? bummer I missed that one. anyhoo, I'm very particualr about what I wrap my ass in, whether its suits or t-shirts, and I only wear g-star jeans at this point. just a great fit.
boys can buy britches while girls can shop shoes next door at SW
When I have money, this is one of my favorite places to shop. My ex introduced me to G-Star Raw. I fell in love with not one, but two jackets. I bought them both because I couldn't decide which one I loved better.
Their denim line is amazing! Personally, I can't pull off their jeans, but they come in waist x length, which is VERY rare for womens jeans. The jeans here look amazing on guys. The washes are really unique. Some of the shirts are a little too fem for the males, but you cannot go wrong with the jackets.
The guys that work here are great, too. One time I was here I had trouble picking a pair of jeans and the guy asked me what style I like wearing most and he picked out a few pairs for me. Once I start working again, I'll be back!
I've always loved G-Star and today I had the best experience because Rio was so sweet and friendly and helpful!
My poor wallet...

I came in to catch up on fashion and I was not disappointed. I actually came in after been at a SF Giants day game so I was dressed in my sneakers, shorts, old polo shirt and my timbuk2 bag but even looking completely out of place in this store they treated me very well. I do not have a "regular" G-Star physique but the clerk was able to walk me through a wide variety of items including jackets, and jeans. They went above and beyond what I normally expect even from boutique stores in getting everything that I asked. Will definitely come back, I will take down one star because they lacked other pieces of clothing that I need at the moment too, not a knock to the store just the brand.
boxy stiff industrial demin. How can they charge so much for something made of denim??
Well at least their denim and jackets look new. Im really tired of clothing that is "pre-distressed" Really, I can handle wearing out my own stuff. THX

I always thought g-star was a japanese denim company, but to my realization, g-star is a dutch company that kicks major ass within the denim industry! the only reason i thought it was japanese is because g-star is something a japanese entrepreneur would call a denim company. who the hell would call a company g-star!?
anyway, my visit to the san francisco g-star was a pleasant one. the only complain that i have is that because i am indecisive, and it usually takes me 4-5 times of trying on a product that is expensive, they sold my size jeans before i could purchase them, and had to get them from the la store. the sale girl was really nice and told me that i would get them within 3-4 days, and i got them in 3. the jeans are awesome, and eventhough these are my first "premium denim jean" i dont feel guilty paying over $150 for them.
chex them out and you may drop a bill or more on their store if you step in! happy shopping!

G-STAR's only ever been on my radar because my sassy man friends love to shop here. A fabulous denim blazer for my favorite Pinoy architect, form fitting jeans for my platonic life partner in crime. . .
Recently, however, I ended up in the store after having lunch with Ronaldo (a sassy man friend who I commonly refer to as my "gay boyfriend") While he was perusing jeans, I took a look at the women's offerings. Then something happened that rarely ever happens to me with clothing (with food it happens all the time but with clothes not so much) - a piece jumped off the rack and beckoned me to fall in love with it. I removed the jacket from the hanger and tried it on. It fit like a glove. I turned to Ronaldo who said, "It looks really good - like it was tailored to fit just you!"
That evening, I returned to the store with another male companion in tow. He agreed on the style and the fit but reminded me that it probably wouldn't keep me very warm and if what I really needed was a coat this wasn't it. Ah, straight men, you can always count of them for their practicality (and to completely rain on your happy little "perfect jacket found" parade!)
That night I could not stop thinking about the jacket. . .
On Tuesday I considered going back for it but decided it was not yet meant to be. I called Mom who agreed that I should buy it if I liked it that much. I also called my platonic life partner in crime for his opinion; he too thought I should get it. Buy in from my gay boyfriend, my platonic life partner in crime and Mom? What more did I need?
More careful deliberation on my part. . .
It was not until Wednesday that I decided I absolutely must go back to purchase it. When I wore it out that night, I was filled with a glorious sense of glee. Mission accomplished.
In sum:
Five stars for the fashion forwardness of the Dutch
Three stars for the prices which invite days of deliberation
Most importantly:
G-STAR, not just for gay boys (and their imitators) any more!

i am so hooked on g star!!!! i love everything they have here..its funny how it can be so easy to miss this store if your walking on the street. it is fully decked out in black from the outside.. but when you walk in..it has this cool and sleek look to it.. everyone who works here has their own style of dress.. but i noticed that mostly everyone is wearing black.. or solid colors.. it looks great on everyone..and totally goes with the cool vibe of the store!
i have a ton of belts. a couple shirts. a jacket. and a side shoulder bag. jeans?? ahhh what this place is known for.. well i was once in the fitting room trying to find the right fit.. i thought i had found it..but when i went home...it turns out..it wasnt exactly what i wanted!! i guess because im in between sizes.. so if your a 25..you either have to squeeze into a 24(very tight!) or settle for a 26(can be too loose)!!!
i really need to come back here and find the right fit..because i own everything else BUT JEANS!!!
I'm wearing my G-Star loose-fit ultralight jeans right now. And my ass looks, well, spectacular. I mean really. I have trouble walking away from the mirror. Now I finally see what my gay friends have been on about all these years.
And all it took was the magic of the G-Star jeans. I think I'll contact their marketing department and pitch them my new tagline.
G-Star. Jeans so fine they'll turn you into an ass-Narcissus.
UPDATE:
It's very greedy of me to keep secret the name and style of the jeans that make my big booty look so good, so here you go, chicks and fellas. If you got more backyard than Montana, you need to get a pair of Radar Low Loose.
They even have an adjustable waist tab to pull in that extra size you don't need and wrap up the top of the apple nice and tight.
I obviously need more synonyms for "ass" to really complete this review.

Because they tend to sell a lot of denim some may mistakenly compare them to Diesel.
This design and detail of the clothing is head and shoulders above Diesel and while the clothing may seem expensive, you are really paying for the fact that this article took a lot of handiwork to make.
I celebrated my newly found skinniness in a size 31 pants and the compliments are nonstop and their smart labels say the Size on the pants while you're wearing them so cute boys can say "you're ass looks hot, and wait you're a size 31! damn, can I take you home now hottie?"
Ok, you can't credit G Star Raw with all of that but you get my drift. The clothing is form complementary and fun to wear. Because they're fresh, unlike say the chain triumvirate from Folsom Street, there are always new clothing seemingly every other week. The downside, not too many sales and if you see it, like it, then you must buy it right away.
The upsides, many, including, there's always a wide choice, if you buy it you won't see 60 people wearing it later that evening and if its new and not to be found, people always think its new.
It may not have H & M prices but its definitely worth the investment because people will want to sleep with you when you wear it....so I've heard.

THE SERVICE:
I'm giving this place 3 stars cause their staff just isn't that helpful. I mean if you're really willing to spend 200+ on jeans you should get a little helpful service shouldn't you? Am I wrong?
THE CLOTHES:
I wanted to get jeans here but they just don't fit me at all... I'm a big fan of G-Star t-shirts because I'm a t-shirt whore. I refuse to adopt the blazer as my uniform and g-star t's have done me good.
BONUS:
If you throw down the bucks for clothes here they give you a pretty sweet bag. That's kinda cool.

Love their jackets and jeans. One of the places I can only find one or more things to decide to get. So it's a tad more expensive being a girl cause it's more expensive then the guy jackets. But I still love and still indulge myself with their ware. Too bad there isn't more locations open, just this one in the city. They do have some items at local retail store but only one or two things. Service here never fails me. Well worth the trip and money.
I'm a bit spoiled buying jeans. Aside from my footballer quads not fitting into anything straightleg that my waist does, my favourite jean store on the other side of the continent had 2 tailors in-house to ensure my length/arse/package fit to perfection. All I ever had to worry about was stylin' ... yeah!!
So far I haven't found a replacement here in SF, but last weekend I did pick up a solid pair of G-Star jeans. The staff was attentive to my "needs" and I came away with a great fit. I'm also very happy with the construction and details. Like someone else said, the dressing rooms need proper mirrors! Otherwise, awesome, I'll definitely be back!

I am unsure about writing this review, but that doesn't mean it is not worth reading. See, I don't own the whole G-Star line like some people claim to do. I could never afford it. Nor would I ever want wear a whole G-Star outfit... might make me look like I belong in a GUESS advertisement?
Shopping here has made me realize just how fat Americans are, and yeah, I don't care if you take insult. I would be like a size XS at Walmart where here I am M or L. Funny how overtime, sizes have become irrelevant, you really need to try everything on.
Recently I bought a jacket here. It is light and has an oversized thick hood. It fits so well, better than many of my fitted dress shirts. Ummmm... yeah, I am tired of writing. G-Star is good.
And yes Stef, this is a half assed review.

G Star. The reason my student budget doesn't ever seem to tide me over... anything. I have to swing by this store every time I'm in/around Union Square. They make the best fitting jeans for guys on the planet. I don't think I'll ever wear another brand. They also have awesome jackets. I own 7 (Yes they're that great!). + You have to love the semiannual sale. Awesome customer service, and they don't make you feel like an idiot if you don't buy anything. Only if it wasn't that expensive. Hmm....maybe i could to get some bailout money, because if i do, G Star will see a lot of it! Stop reading this review and go to G Star already!
In the never ending line of clothes that don't fit, I may have found a little peace.
Let me explain. For my height (5'4"), I have pretty broad shoulders since I've been a swimmer my whole life. That means that most smalls are the right length but the shoulders are way too small, or the mediums have the perfect shoulder room but are too long. And if I do happen to find the right combination of shoulder width and length, the clothes are made for people with guts (aka the typical American). If it's labeled as "fitted," it's usually not tapered enough so it still ends up fitting shitty because even the fitted cut is still designed with guts in mind. Fuck me.
I'm pretty specific about my clothes. I live strictly by quality versus quantitiy, and for the last two years or so, I've been in the frantic pursuit of a black jacket. When I purchase clothes, they need to be just about perfect. The reason is, people ususally buy clothes that they like 90%, despite some small detail that they don't like but feel they can overlook. The problem comes when over time, that little detail tends to magnify and after a year, that piece of clothing just ends up sitting in the closet. It's the details that bug people. It's those times when we say, "Fuck me."
I stumbled upon this store when I was surfing yelp earlier this week and read all the reviews about how great these clothes fit. Always willing to try something new, I decided to check out the store yesterday around noon. The service was awesome. If you tell them what you're looking for, they will do their best to find it. I never felt pressured to buy anything, and their selection was great. I walked out with the best buy I'll probably find for the next year or so.
Thank you G-Star for making clothing that's tasteful, that's good quality, and most importantly that fits. For once, I didn't leave a clothing store saying, "Fuck me."
Let me preface by saying that I rarely spend more than $50 on articles of clothing (other than suits). At G Star, you will not find anything less than $50 (actually, the only thing I saw less than $100 were hats and gloves).
Anyway, despite my cheap bastardness, I believe the clothes are so god damn good that I will step way out of my comfort zone to buy a hoodie jacket that ain't cheap. I don't normally get excited about clothes, but these guys had some damn good stuff. I look forward to the day when I am mentally prepared to shell out some dough for jeans there.
-1 star for the less than prompt service. I was clearly eagerly browsing, the employee saw me (and wasn't helping anyone else)...I had to kind of slide over into his area and ask him for help. But once I started the conversation, it was alright.

Dear whimsical and terrible diety of ill-fitting clothes,
The most amazing thing happened tonight. Your usual ability to ensure my imperfect bodice with all its flaws are magnified 100x regardless of the article of clothing has failed. Yes, it would appear that G-Star Raw's distortion field allows a respite from your otherwise omnipresent influences. I know you are pissed off about this anomaly. And I know you will be pissed off again when I subsequently visit said establishment many, many a time.
Signed,
"Liberated"

Since my move from Palo Alto to SF I've gone from cool to Cosby in the fashion department (and yes, any combination of the words "cool" and "Palo Alto" is oxymoronic). Clearly it was time to check out G-Star Raw and see what all the fuss was about.
My specific purpose was to get the smart looking denim vest that I had seen on the campaign ads. I don't care how much it costs or how many emancipated Euro-models I'd have to break over my knee to get to it. That vest would make me look like hot s%#* and I won't be denied.
I was denied. Turns out everyone always asks about that vest but it's just an experimental piece that was never put into production. After collecting myself from the ensuing 5 second blackout, the friendly staff helped point out some shirts that might be in the same style.
Oh, alright, I thought. Might as well since I made it all the way over here tonight. Just two shirts for posterity's sake. Then it happened in the dressing room. Magic, really. This one denim shirt wrapped itself around me and wouldn't let go. It hugged every irregular turn, bulge, and cranny of my torso. And instinctively I rolled up the sleeves to make a vest-like garment, stepped out to look in the mirror, and I indeed was hot s%#*.
At $150 it wasn't cheap but I can say without a doubt that this is the best-fitting piece of clothing and most flattering shirt I currently own. And keep in mind I'm a stocky guy and far from the sterotypical image one would have about patrons of such a place (at least for the shirts, going to also try out the jeans next visit).
I've tried the shirt out with every pair of pants I have and none can tarnish its magic. Something about the fit and the intrinsic property of the denim to handle all sorts of lighting well allow it to have an overall slimming effect.
Yes, all this time writing this review I've been wearing it. And yes, it easily kept me in on a Friday night just posing in front of the mirror.
And heck yes, 5 big stars for G-Star Raw!

Sick style makes me look (if only in my mind) mad sexy, but most importantly...
THE CLOTHES ACTUALLY FIT guys who have a trim and athletic build. That's pretty rare nowadays, when it seems like everything is cut to fit over a gut.
On the pricier side, but still cheaper than a lot of stuff that's way more boring.
