Another great place to eat with the co-workers. This is always a must go to for birthdays.
They've updated their menu, but they've fkept some of my favorites! Here is a list of the things I've tried there:
- fire cracker lettuce wraps: good. They have a different flavor from pf changs and the sauce is also different (not as good).
- thyme french fries: yummy, shoe string fries topped with thyme and garlic mayo
- my all time FAVORITE fire cracker fusili - this is awesome! I LOVE it. it's topped with habanero pesto and sour cream... just the right combo.
- grilled chicken and roasted peppers sandwich with fries - very good
- chicken sausage penne: pretty good.
- classic chicken parmesan: good
- carrot ginger soup (friend ordered it and LOVED it)
Their happy hour menu is pretty good too! I love that the appetizers are half off, definitely a must do.
This place is a bit cramped for me, but the waiters are good.
Happy hour review. it goes until 7ish i think.
so i had never been to this location before and had never seen it but was instructed to meet here. you know i am at wits end when i start talking to myself in public which is what i started doing looking for this place. i always get disoriented coming to embarcadero. i went straight for a directory which told me fuzio was on promenade but for some reason my little bitty brain didnt know what floor that meant. i finally figured it meant 3rd floor. went up and saw the brightly lit sign. turned right at the sign and ended up in a dead end. i yell at myself some more. the door is past the bright sign, stupid.
anyways. the place is small. greenhouse like. HH is a bit deceiving since the fuziotini orig $9 is $1 off making it $8 .. not that happy. all appetizers $3? i think. i cant remember now. i had some spring rolls. crab cake (very spicy) and lettuce wraps that had cubed chicken that was very weird.
i guess maybe i shouldve tried the pasta ...?
I can't say anything about the food, but the bar is a no go.
While waiting for a film at the Embarcadero Theater, my group headed over to Fuzio for a quick drink. Collectively we ordered two Old Fashions and one Manhattan. Now, I've had a lot of Old Fashions in my day, but this was -- without a doubt -- the worse Old Fashion ever. With not the slightest bit of hyperbole, it tasted like water. Occasionally you'd get a hint of orange, or a splash of whiskey. But the idea behind the Old Fashion is the whiskey is cut by the water, not the other way around.
The Manhattan was better, but I only had a few sips as it wasn't my drink... others at the table thought it was too sweat, but such is not possible in my professional opinion. Either way, we would have been better off getting a root beer at the theatre concession stand.
Uhm, the water wasn't too bad.
The shrimp in my Shrimp Scampi was okay. But the pasta was undercooked, and the bread that came with it was, wait, was it bread? It was like overcooked or stale pita bread, hard to describe exactly.
I vaguely recalled not liking this place very much many years ago, and it would seem it has gotten worse. We only went here because it was right outside the movie theater and apparently all the other restaurants are gone over there now, aside from Fluzio's and Gaylords. Ugh. Hopefully I can remember never to step foot in here again. What a waste of money.
There are fewer and fewer places to eat around the Embarcadero Center. The food here isn't great, not even always good, totally overpriced. But you can get food. I sometimes get a craving for hot steak so I come here (rather than the Hyatt which is even more expensive), or the fried calamari which is hard to get around here. Salads are passable but nothing to more. It's one of those places the office workers go for happy hour and buy the appetizers. I should find out if it's open on Saturdays since most of the eateries around here aren't. One good thing is that you can get dinner here (most of the eateries at the Embarco Center are lunch-only places and sometimes you just want a salad for dinner).
Came here on a Saturday afternoon in search of delicious calamari and we found it. Soooo good! I also had the Classic Shrimp Scampi and it wasn't that great, the pasta was undercooked and a little skimpy with the sauce. Everyone else's food looked good though, probably will come back for happy hour if I'm in the area.
Oh Fuzios, you left us in the marina...
To be honest my boyfriend took me to Fuzios a bit too much, but I will say that I have been a fan of the food and easy takeout. Since the marina location closed we ventured to the FiDi Fuz for a little happy hour.
Now I can't say the food at Fuzio's will blow your mind, but I can say that the happy hour specials are worth a visit.
$3 draft beers & $3 apps
We feed and quenched 3 overworked hungry people for about $30.
Great deal. Will go back!
So I went back to Fuzio after many months. It seems like between March 09 and Oct 09, they've changed DRASTICALLY!
Change is good, but not when things go down hill! The Menu - changed!!
They don't serve the Asian Noodle Bowl any longer, which is a BIG mistake. they have the Shanghai noodles, but it has chicken. And even if they were to do away with the chicken pieces, it just does not match up to taste.
The Crispy calamari - SUCKS! the calamari was probably re-fried a gazillion times - the batter was dark, dark brown, the calamari was oily and chewy and the linguine was blah.
New on the menu - potato fries. TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!
For the first time, the service was terrible as well. The young lady who waited at our table didn't understand a thing. BO!!! Ohhh!!!!
Over all - most disappointing, 'cause I expected better!

Grab a handful of those candies when you're leaving!! 'cause they're goooooooooooooddd!!
My friends and I decided to come here for lunch since it was close by our work places and had something on the menu for everyone. Our group of 4 didn't have to wait longer than 10 min for a table during their rush hour so that was a plus. We were seated outdoors on the back patio area but we didn't mind because it was a sunny day. =)
The menu came and I forgot how many choices they had...pastas, salads, sandwiches, burgers, etc. I thought most restaurants gave a bread basket or something of the sort to pick at when you sit down but we had to ask our server for some instead. Maybe they ran out? He was also pretty swamped and didn't get a chance to refill our beverages or check on us during the meal.
I ordered the grilled chicken and roasted peppers panini with mixed greens salad ($8.95). The bread was grilled nicely but it was laden with too much cheese. The chicken was moist but not as hot as I would have liked...at least the roasted red peppers added some texture/flavor as well as the yummy herb aioli. The side salad had the perfect amount of dressing and the greens were fresh.
I would come back for lunch again but there are so many other local options that I don't foresee that happening anytime soon. Fuzio is essentially a typical chain restaurant where the food and service are just above average.
The last time I went to a Fuzio had to be 10 years ago. At least. I stroll in here following a social event for a little late dinner. It's a Wednesday night and I'm expecting a Pasta Pomodoro type of experience, when to my surprise I find out their Wednesday special: HALF off their universal pasta menu (an equally surprisingly large list). So we order mac and cheese, Shanghai noodles, a slightly spicy marinara pasta, and a calamari pasta. For like $5 each since they're normally around $10. Three of us split those four dishes and paid $28 including tip. That's not just awesome. It's obscene. And the best part?
The pasta was good!
The mac and cheese was probably my favorite. Rich and creamy and loaded with black forest ham. Note: you won't be getting the fanciest ingredients ever. But service was good, food was tasty and a downright steal.
Well done, Fuzio.
From my days of working in the Financial District I had always known of this place as a good spot for drinks after work. I had never tried any of their food items however so when the opportunity to drop in on a less-than-busy weekend night presented itself I decided to give their kitchen a try.
I've sat at the tables near the bar so often I never even realized there is a whole different dining room on the other side of the wall. Since I was given a choice I chose to sit in the dining room. The overhead lighting was fairly dim but the natural light coming through from the large windows provided ample light even in the late evening. Big white paper sheets cover each clothed table, but the thin white paper napkins just seemed so out of place.
I sat for quite awhile before waitstaff greeted me and took my drink order. My drink came back not so full in a tall glass filled with ice cubes. Another waiter emerged from the kitchen to take my food order. He was quick to announce the evening specials, but I think I caught him off guard by asking him how one dish was prepared. He stumbled momentarily but delivered the information I was seeking.
I ordered a small salad and a main entrée, and I would be thankful later after discovering how small their portions are. The portion of salad was actually larger than the main dish. I had the Caesar salad (http://static.px.yelp....). The Romaine lettuce was nice and crisp, but I was more fond of the focaccia croutons more than anything else. The croutons were light and airy yet crunchy like regular bread croutons. The portion of grated parmesan on the creamy Caesar dressing was a bit overwhelming as it made the salad slightly saltier than what I'd prefer.
Once my salad plate was cleared my main entrée arrived promptly. I had one of the daily specials which was a Shrimp Scampi served over linguine (http://static.px.yelp....). I loved the big prawns which were prepared well. The prawns were roasted then dusted with a coating of seasoned panko bread crumbs. I had to savor the flavor of each slowly since there were only four prawns. The linguine was cooked al dente but a bit firmer than what I like. It was unseasoned having simply been tossed in olive oil and sprinkled with fresh chopped parsley. I had to take full advantage of the juice from the lemon wedge just to give the pasta a bit of flavor. A strip of focaccia (maybe three small bites worth) was served alongside the pasta. The bread was dry.
Overall, I think the menu is pricey considering it's a chain and the portions are rather small. I wouldn't mind if the foods were prepared better by a higher caliber chef. I'm used to leaving full after eating at pasta restaurants, but I left this place still hungry. The waitstaff was very courteous and the overall service was quite good once the waiters showed up, but next time I'm just sticking with the alcohol.
I always come here with a group of friends or with my boyfriend. Fuzio never disappoints. The staff here are friendly and accommodating. The last time I was here, I got the fire craker fuili. My mouth was burning from the spicyness, but I loved the burst of flavors. oh how I wish I could just eat all day
LOVE their firecracker pork fuscilli. Drinks were okay.
I go to Fuzios at least once a week at lunch. The only negative for me is the smaller portions, but at least you don't leave feeling that you've overeaten. The entre salads are actually more food for the money than the pasta, particuarly the Blue Cheese Chicken Penne Salad, which has lots of romaine letter, cucumbers, pasta and chicken.
I really like their iced tea, as it is always consistent, never bitter like so many places. The new pizzas are a good buy at only $7.50 and the new dinner entrees add some choices to the menu. Service is always great and the wait staff is very friendly.
Went here last night for dinner after catching a screening at the Landmark Embarcaderro Theaters next door.
I ordered the caramelized mushroom pasta dish and the chocolate coconut bread pudding. The pasta dish was good but the dessert was phenomenal.
I ate here about a month ago (after another movie) and had the asian noodles and the apple strawberry crisp. The noodles were good but it was a smaller portion than my friend's italian pasta dish and the apple strawberry crisp was essentially a cup with some strawberries and apple slices and some brown sugar sprinkled over it. How is that a crsip?! Crisp implies that it is baked and the components cooked.
Both times I ate there, I felt hassled by the wait staff to place an order. They basically show up at your table two minutes after you sit down to take your order, when you tell them you need more time, they basically come back every two minutes until you give them an order. Here's a hint: if my menu is still open I haven't decided. If I'm not trying to flag you over, I haven't decided yet. It gets very annoying after the first two times they come over.
We are a business across the street from the Fuzio restaurant located at 1 Embarcadero Center.
We ordered (for lunch delivery) the Celebration portion of Linguine Pomodoro for $70, and the Celebration size of Chicken Sausage Penne for $94. Fuzio states that the Celebration size servings feed 10-12 people.
In all fairness to Fuzio, we knew the prices in advance of ordering. What we didn't realize was the extent to which the pasta was just that; i.e., a pile of pasta. What a racket. I'm now inspired to get into the pasta business! The gross margins must be phenomenal. Boil up some pasta and sell it to unsuspecting fools (like me) at overexorbitant prices. Shame on me for not having boiled linguine myself, topped it with some tomato sauce, and charge the firm a couple hundred dollars. I surely would have provided parmesan cheese, too, if I were the restaurant.
This is your typical chain restaurant. You come here because they can accommodate big parties. Or you come here because you are craving pasta and want to go to a standard place where the quality is guaranteed to be alright.
Top 3 choices:
1) Fried Calamari linguine: if you like garlic, fried calamari, and lemon juice then you will definitely enjoy this dish.
2) Firecracker: this is their beef stew in a special spicy broth. In addition to the pasta, they also mix in sour cream. It is very flavorful and the beef is super tendered after hours of being in that stew. I say either ask for sour cream on the side or skip it all together.
3) The bread pudding is awesome! The bread is warm and mushy, the pudding is done just right. Bonus point: it comes with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on the side!
An odd place...with an odd menu...but they were open for dinner on Memorial Day, whereas every other restaurant in the vicinity was closed. They get two stars for that alone!
The food was ok. The caesar salad was surprisingly good, especially the foccacia croutons. For mains, our group had the linguine with mushrooms, the firecracker steak and the chicken parm - and they would probably be ranked in that order, with the parm being the weakest of the three.
I doubt I will return unless I happen to be in the area. The price is right, and they have some interesting appetizers, so perhaps it's better for drinks and nibbles.
Happy hour:
I've been to this location TWICE. I've gotten lost FOUR times. WTH? And that was *before* happy hour, I have no clue how I made it back *after* happy hour.
Great drink prices, tasty appetizers. The bar area is small, if you arrive late, you'll end up waiting outside without a drink in your hand. *sniff*
Spongebob digs anything that deals with firecrackers.
I came back and got their MAC & CHEESE and NO...no no no.
Corkscrew Pasta
Cubes of Black Forest Ham
Plentiful bread crumbs piled on top
But something was off with the cheese! I was told that it was a mix of garlic cream, cambazola, sharp cheddar, and parmesean but it only tasted like 1 cheese. Not flavorful enough. Plus after a while the cheese got kinda lumpy -- it didn't stay smooth. This whole dish almost tasted like mediocre alfredo. Not too impressed with their mac & cheese. I rather have it from the infamous blue box!

What Fusion???
Davids bottom line- ConFusion!!!
Yikes...the Taco Bell of "international fusion" (whatever the f--- that is).
I had two dishes here during lunch. The calamari: underseasoned and soggy. Clams and linguini: bathed in butter, and crunchy (yummy) sand (from the clams). Also half my clams were dead.
Would not recommend.
Only been here for Happy Hour:
2 orders of calamari
1 corona
1 order of crab cakes
1 other appetizer? dont remember
Nice, attentive staff-
Bill came out to be 20 bux.
Verdict: AWESOME!
Some Problems:
-Served by multiple waiters who sometimes forget what you asked them for.
-Parking is nowhere to be found anywhere around here!!
This location is spacious. No kids menu, so our waitress had to suggest a simple pasta with butter for the kiddos, which they liked. Portions are decent, but I could have doubled-up on the Pork Fusilli and bread. Don't order their items to go and expect to get decent portions...won't happen. Yummy mango lemonade, plus refills. Although, we usually catch happy hour deals offered M-F, Sundays are great for free parking around the Embarcadero.
Really the only reason to go is for the happy hour (3 to 6pm), and even then your friends are going to ridicule you for going because there are plenty of better drinking holes in the area. During happy hour, the appetizers are basically free ($3) -- and the crab cakes are particularly good. The citrus / sweet Fuziotini nice and strong, but you have to get past the fact that it's purple-ish and too sweet for a lot of folks. I should never admit this to anyone -- let alone write about it on Yelp -- but even as a hetero guy I do enjoy a Fuziotini every now and then. Okay, so I'm slightly metrosexual. Yes. I drink pink drinks occasionally -- deal with it.
My co-workers and I hit Fuzio more often than we'd like to admit because it's always a good time. They also have a nice outdoor patio as an added bonus. Happy hour is great, but choosing Fuzio for dinner is complete insanity.
Thanks to my friend's recommendation, I discovered this place few months ago and since then has been my favorite happy hour spot.
My 5 star only goes for happy hour. It looks like (from other Yelpers' reviews) the restaurant's lunch & dinner may not be all that great... BUT...!
Happy hour, which runs 3-6, is pretty awesome. $3 beer and $3 appetizers (except for the mussels). $3 plates totally rock, and of course, I can drink $3 Guinness all day long.
Look for me... it feels like I'm there once a week! =D
Fuzio's is just ok. I eat here every now and then since I work across the street and I think it' s a bit overpriced for the portion and quality. The food seems to come out lightening quick, which makes me question it's freshness. It tastes okay, as it's not horrible, but also nothing memorable either. The dining area is quite large as well as the bar area, and the location is convenient, but don't expect anything extra-ordinary.
I was working overtime and had to get dinner. Most of the restaurants and shops are closed by 5pm at the Embarcadero Centers.
My coworkers and I went to Fuzio's happy hour a month ago and it was decent. But be warned, their happy hour ends at 6pm (not like other places where they end by 7-7:30pm).
I was going to get pasta but still had a long night ahead of me so I didn't want to be falling asleep at the computer so I decided to go for the meatball panini with a side of caeser salad to go.
The panini was smaller than I expected and the marinara sauce was on the side. Salad was your ordinary caeser. And for $10 it was just ok. Maybe it's better if you eat in instead of take out.
Great place, reasonable prices.
The caramelized mushroom linguine was great, most places would give only a few mushrooms but more kept appearing in my bowl.
Took a chance on the glazed polenta pound cake and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Strawberries weren't quite ripe 'tho.
Extra points for not rushing us out, some places are bad about this even when there isn't a wait.
Fuzio, I'll be back to conquer the rest of your menu.
My girl friend and I love this place for lunch.
The price is absolutely reasonable,.. food portion is good.
Happy Hour...that's all I'm gonna say !
From 3-6pm all appetizers are $3
All draft beers are $3
My personal favorites are:
Crab cakes w/ lots of crab onion, spicy aioli and bread crumbs
Vietnamese spring rolls w/grilled chicken, ginger-carrot salad and sweet chili sauce
Firecracker Sliders-firecracker pork, sweet bun, asian style vegetables, habanero spread
Firecracker lettuce wraps-firecracker marinated chicken, portabello mushrooms, water chestnuts, carrot ginger salad, sweet chili vinaigrette and spicy hoisin sauce
Macaroni and Cheese-garlic cream, cambazola, sharp cheddar, parmesan and black forest ham
Their mussels and clams appetizer are $2 dollars off at happy hour and they have a drink special everyday !
This place gets respectable reviews from the Embarcaderro business crowd however I have got to give it the extra star for their staff and fun personalities.
Along with good fast reliable lunch and dinner fare the staff happens to be very nice.
If you want more of this or less of that they listen and deliver.
Just ask. The servers are very cool.
On a side note they're across from the Embarcaderro Cinema.
And they happen to play great independent films.
"It's always the simple things like fried stuff that are the best"
So true....so very true. My friends and I came here for happy hour, and I totally forgot how good their happy hour deal was. Draft beers and Appetizers (except mussels/clams) were $3.
So for the four of us, we practically ordered everything on the menu. We got the following:
- Rock shrimp - small and fried with some nice mayo saracha sauce
thing to go with
- Fried Calamari - need i say more, its just damn good
- Foccacia - basil, feta, and caramalized onions just make this one hella bomb
- Lettuce wrap - with all the other food around, i felt lazy to fill in a wrap, but it was good and i'm glad i got over the laziness
- fried onion strands - interesting
- Sliders - spicy and sweet bbq type flavor in the pork meat. I was quite happy with it.
- Crab Cakes - i dont' think i've ever tasted bad crab cake and this is not where it starts. $3, jeezus.
- spring roll - just like any other vietnamese place's
- Macaroni and Cheese with ham - wayyy better than easy mac of course, and the ham was good with it. The pasta they used for it was also good because it was the big spiral type.
...i hope i'm not forgetting any other plate...because believe me, we were working hard to try and figure out spots for all this food.
so for 5 beers and a cocktail with tons of food, it came out to be $60. that's pretty good if you ask me
The happy hour is priced at a good value and the happy hour ends at 6 - too soon on a friday. the calamari was flavorless and its pretty much left to the dipping sauce to get the flavor.
Overall, good value before 6
It's a great place for lunch and is usually busy during the work week. I've been here a couple times and the location is great for the work and shopping crowds. The food is good and its great for meeting up with a friend.
Get here before noon during the week and you can get a table without a reservation, after that and it gets crazy busy.
I like the outdoor seating and the bar area too! I will have to look into their Happy Hour after reading these reviews!
About what you would expect from a cafe in the Financial District. Small, over priced portions. My salad was less that a handle full of greens. My panini was really half a panini, cut in halves. I also nibbled on my companions Pasta. All in all the dishes were pretty tasty. Service was great.
Fuzio why'd you go and raise your HH prices??? For that I'll have to give you 3 stars instead of 4. My coworkers and I used to frequent this place all the time for HH for the $2 pints and half off the tasty appetizers of calamari, crab cakes, lettuce wraps, spring rolls, and clams. But now the prices are the same as the HH at Chevy's next door and we've migrated since the bar area is larger and has more seating options.
This is still a great place for lunch in the FIDI on a nice sunny day. There's outdoor dining in the patio.
We were suppose to go to Osha Thai in Embarcadero, but that place was reserved for an event. After wandering around for maybe 40 minutes, we arrived around 6:30pm? It looked crowded, but we were seated within 5 minutes.
This place, the majority of workers are gay guys. So I asked my friend if this was a gay restaurant. She said it wasn't. The front and the back had a very different atmosphere. The front is the section with all the gay waiters and I guess employees off on a Friday night (the wild more lively crowd?). The back seemed calmer, with a few kids and adults that were closer to the norm and what I'm use to.
Portions are SMALL for this price. I got Chicken Sausage Penne, my friends got...the special, Sukiyaki style noodles, linguine and clams. We also split calamari and tiramisu. I didn't come out super full like I'm use to, just content. The penne was ehh, the best part was the chicken sausage. All of my friend's pasta looked kind of tasteless and bland. Sukiyaki noodles, I don't think I'd want to come here for that, just seemed out of place to me. Calamari was good, just not great. I like the calamari at Americana more. The tiramisu, I could really taste the rum (not a fan of alcohol), so I only had one bite.
I can't see myself coming back, maybe if I became more lively or whatnot, I could join the front room.
I had a strawberry lemonade that tasted like strawberry syrup and vegetarian pad thai that tasted unlike any pad thai i've ever had.
all in all...BARF! don't waste your $$. CPK is mario batali's bobo compared to this place.
3 stars for Happy hour. 2 stars for all other ventures here.
You can make a dinner out of the Happy Hour appetizers (though it's a bit unhealthy, what with all the fried stuff). I've been here with a group and ordered "one of everything" from the appetizer list, + 1-2 drinks per person, usually adds up to about $20/person. My favorites are the mussels & clams (either style - Thai/Italien), Vietnamese Spring rolls, & the Firecracker lettuce wraps. Note of caution though: anything that says "Firecracker" or "spicy" really isn't spicy at all. Like many other things on their entree list, the food can be rather bland & unexciting.
This location is convenient, as it's right across the way from the Embarcadero cinema - eating the fried food certainly didn't stop me from diving into a bag of buttery popcorn later!
There is, apparently, something about me that is particularly appealing to those who are notably older than me. For example, the father of one of my lifelong friends has often said how much he looks forward to my visits to my hometown, because it gives us a chance to catch up. This appeal to the older set is not a new thing, because this same man takes great joy in recounting the many long, serious conversations he had with me when I was 5. Or 6. Or 7. Nor is the effect limited to various friends: though she hardly looks it, wifey herself is 2 years older than me. A college friend once remarked that I had "an old soul," which is perhaps an explanation. The effect is bilateral: not only do I seem to be appealing to the older crowd, I also find their company more enjoyable than that of most people my age. (I know this is a dangerous thing to admit on Yelp, where I'm already older than most people.)
What the hell does that have to do with anything? Well, for the last four days, I've had the pleasure of spending my days in the company of a 60-something old construction alligator (notable trivia: one of his resume items is that he built 333 Bush). And the last two days, we ate lunch here. On day one, I had the firecracker habanero pork, which was entirely decent. Spicy enough, and the pasta was correctly prepared. On day two, I had the mac and cheese. Bluntly, there are a lot of better m&c plates in the City.
But the lunch service was VERY prompt, and the price was reasonable. And the iced tea was VERY good. And my companion/charge enjoyed his meals. And we traded stories about growing up in Watertown, SD and Torrington, WY respectively. Another reason to hang out with the more seasoned: they have good stories. Young people only THINK their stories are exciting. In reality, I don't really care about that one time when you puked behind that bar. Have a story about the time your iron workers got into a fight with an entire gay pride parade? I'll make time to listen to THAT one.
