Hello, my name is Lori and the last time I had Korean BBQ was OVER 5 years ago! I'm sooooo ashamed! What is wrong with me? What kind of Yelper am I? How have I managed to avoid every unofficial and official Yelp K-BBQ event? Every time my fellow yelpers would bring up Korean BBQ I would just clam up and let them go on and on and nod and smile but inside I'd be dying to exclaim "I'm a disgrace!".

A few days ago, I texted (because I'm also becoming one of those disgusting people who prefer texting over having real human contact) my local toxic friend who can coerce me into eating the worst things ever and vice versa and asked if she wanted to hit up Gardena for some KBBQ or Japanese Izakaya. Seriously, she and I should cease and desist from being friends! Each time we do something remotely healthy like hit the gym, take a 5 mile walk or go on an 8 mile bike ride we celebrate by making and frying up some crab Rangoon, going to a bar and splitting a plate of chicken wings or downing entire thin crust pizzas or pad kee mow! If that's not Fatass hall of fame worthy stuff right there I don't know what is! Luckily, living in the South Bay our proximity to Gardena means we don't have to trek to K-town, Little Tokyo or Little Saigon for good eats. Gardena's pretty much got it all if you're willing to explore.

Furusato was awesome! We got the all you can eat option B for $15.99 and substituted marinated chicken for Beef tongue. We should have skipped the marinated chicken and pork belly all together. We mainly ate the beef brisket and marinated Beef Rib better known as Kalbi. (I don't like calling it that because in Arabic Kalb means dog, but I digress...) All the banchan side plates were also very interesting such as the kim chi, the pickled cucumbers, the bean sprouts the sauces and the rice paper. Service was fantastic, the quality of the food excellent and we didn't get all stinky!

In five years when I go to Korean BBQ again I'll just order Beef brisket and Beef Rib and a side of the Kalbi marinade. Just kidding, I promise to be a good Yelper and take advantage of the multiple Korean BBQ joints in such close proximity to me and indulge in beefy meaty goodness more often.

I used to go to Furusato when it was a Korean tofu house, and I loved their seafood pancake.  It looks like now it's a straight-on Korean AYCE BBQ place, and I actually enjoyed it quite a bit.
We ordered the $16.95 AYCE, less the beef tongue, but replaced it with marinated chicken instead.
The sides were pretty good, as were the dipping sauces, the salad, and the quality of the meats; we killed it!  And to top it off, the service was outstanding!  Immediate response on the rice, refills on the sides and meats, the pitcher of water...
A place in Gardena where I don't have to go all the way into KTown for a good restaurant with quality meats, friendly service where they replace your grill after every re-order - Yay, I'm a fan and I will be back; sorry, I forgot my camera, but I will bring it next time!

I'm not Korean but I do eat a lot of Korean Barbeque and hands down, this is my favorite place to go.

First reason is because I'm a cheap bastard. At 11.99 for all you can eat beef brisket and pork belly, there is no cheaper place to get this kind of quality. Mind you, this ain't the hippest joint in the world, but seriously, are you here to admire the decor or are you here to eat meat till it leaks out of your nostrils? Yeah that's what I thought.

Secondly, they have unlimited amounts of delicious rice paper. Dr. Atkins would not approve but to hell with him and any diet for that matter if you come to this place. My personal favorite is to take a piece of meat, dip it in the oil and salt sauce, wrap it in a piece of rice paper, devour the whole oily salty, meaty mess and then follow up with a chopstick full of regular rice. It's divine.

Service is always great. They're very attentive to your needs, quick to refill anything you've polished off and they always encourage you to get more meat no matter how much you've eaten. This is great for those who get self conscious about eating a whole cow because you can always pretend to have self control when you finally turn them down.

So yeah i love this place. I'd go here every day if I could be assured that I wouldn't end up looking like Phil Margera, but alas I must watch my svelte figure, so once a month will have to do.

Highly highly recommended.

Decent beef - the pork was overly fatty. The dipping sauces were typically Korean. When you eat Korean BBQ at a Japanese restaurant, the sauces are much thicker and more flavorful.

Good for lunch, the menu only has three sets to choose from. No grillable veggies are served with the meal, just tapas-style Korean sides: kimchee, green salad, other veggies drenched in red pepper.

MY FAMILY LOVES THIS PLACE!

i often find my cousins calling me wondering if i'd like to go with them to eat here. how often do they call? at least twice maybe three times.... a day! ok, that's an exaggeration. but you get my drift.

the value is good. they have a three tier pricing with more meat offerings as the price gets higher. we often just get the "A" group which includes beef brisket and pork belly. and... unlike other people... my little cousins actually ask for fatty meat! (heart attack anyone?) its not furusato's fault though... hahaha!

service is quick and i find that sonny and jose are very patient despite  how very demanding our group can get. its a good place to hang out and eat and just have fun while doing it all. hey... one of these days, you'll probably come across us... we're the loud and obnoxious filipinos...

My skin crawls to see people giving Furusato one/two star reviews.

Where can you find an ayce Korean BBQ venue with kalbi as a meat selection for 15.99?  Even if you do, what kind of service do you expect from a buffet?

Damn, people want to eat filet mignon at a whopper price.  For 15.99, this is not just a great deal, this is an EXCELLENT deal.  Although the waiters won't be on their hands and knees at your service, they are attentive, but that's what I come for....

I come for the food, not the smile.  A smile from a waiter doesn't do $h!7 for me....

But tasty meats ayce at 15.99??  OooooOOoOOOH yeah.  (My review remains at 4 stars because the meats aren't as marinated as typical Korean bbq places.  I love marinated meats.)

I was going through yelp trying to find an AYCE Korean BBQ place around my girlfriend's place and came across this place.  Looked over the reviews and thought it was similar to the others so i kinda just skimmed over it.  My gf called her friend who said to try this place out, what a coincidence.

We can at a bad time really, (don't go there at 8pm on a friday, you'll be waiting for about 45+mins) but was determined to get in and eat.  I must say, this place was worth the 45+min wait!  The price is $11.99/$13.99 and $15.99 AYCE.  The meat was really nice and didn't have much fat on them, and the pork belly was way better tasting than i've had for a long while.

The downer of course was the wait time, 45min wait, they seated a 20+ group before us and the group only waited 10mins! The service was just as i thought it would be, i never had to call attention to the waiters to fill my water, I felt like they read my mind.

Definitely going to go back, and at a better time i hope.  Definitely recommend this place!

Okay so let's start of as to why I'm a fan:
The price is VERY decent, the kimchee is AWESOME, the meat is edible, you're paying for ALL you can EAT, and did I say that the price is decent?

The bad news is that there's this one older waitress that is borderline RUDE (*I don't think she's happy working there*), the service is adequate, and the brisket tends to have LOTS of fat on it even though it's my fave.

So, the good overrules the bad.. check this place out if you're in the area.  If you're looking for better and more pricey meat, ambience, and service, go to K-Town or the OC.

Happy pigging out!

look for sonny and jose. be nice to them and theyll hook u up. they know me by name and even at the busiest times, I get a table. VIP baby!

I am not an expert of the Korean BBQ other than the meat comes out ....you cook it.  Isn't that how most of these places work?  I have been to other Korean BBQ and this is a quick, fast, no frills kinda place.

If you have a hollow leg at the end of your stomach, this is the place to go.  If you go with the cheapest option...you will get the greasy, thin cut meats.  Step it up and go for the more expensive options since you get a variety.  They are eager to get you as much meat as you can consume in one sitting, and they move quick to fill your plate up again.  For a mintue, I thought that I was in one of those food eating competitions.

Now, the one thing that we found out is that everyone at the table has to get the same option.  That sucks if you don't eat as much as everyone else.  And of course, you can't take any of the uneaten food home so that really sucks, unless you are FOB like my mom who brought her own ziplock in her purse (you go mom, no shame!!!)

First of all, they DO serve alcohol... not sure why it's listed on here that they don't, but i called to make sure, because who can eat korean bbq without beer? A large bottle of O.B. Lager is only $5.

I always pass this place on my way home and I figured that it must be terrible since the sign says "11.99 all you can eat", but it ended up being really good. There are 3 tiers to their menu, for $11.99 you only get sliced beef and pork, we opted for the $15.99 that also included shortrib and beef tounge. I can't remember what the next level up had, but I do remember that it had tripe, so yeh, not for me. My wife and I ate two plates of the short rib and a combo plate of the other beef and pork. All the meat was really good (particularly for the price). The side dishes were also good and they didn't complain when i kept asking for more kimchee.

I'm actually not sure how good the service is to non-Koreans like me and my wife though. When we first were seated and served they seemed a bit rude, but when  my wife (who's Japanese but also speaks Korean) started speaking in Korean they all of a sudden became really polite, so I'm not sure if that was a coincidence or they just don't like speaking English.

Anyway, good food and a great value.

KBBQ mass quantities at a great price.  It's not the best, but a great value.

Seems like the first plate of kalbi is always fresh/best, then it goes downhill.

Side dishes are average.  They do give you rice noodle wrappers which is fairly unique.

Service is good: they refill water - or give you the jug, change out the grates, and always ask "MORE MEAT?"

Why not? This is one of the only all you can eat Korean places in the South Bay and their prices are fair. Chris Kim remembers back when he first came here that it was pretty pricey and the quality of meats weren't up to par. However, ever since more people knew about this place, the quality has risen because of more business.

Chris Kim was glad that he didn't have to drive to LA to get all you can eat for cheap. This place used to have 10$ all you can eat cha deul begi(sliced beef) and sang gyup ssal(uncured bacon) and add 5 bucks to get Galbi(marinated steak) and beef tongue. But now they have risen their prices up 2 bucks due to high demand. Service is not bad. Whatever.

This place is actually not bad at all.

The prices are reasonable, the service has been friendly and very attentive every time we have gone here.

The Galbi is our favorite and is part of the $15 tier.

The assortment of dipping sauces do a great job of adding variety.

Hell, what else can I add that hasn't been said yet?  Oh, Limited parking spaces and the place itself is not so big, so either arrive early, or expect a wait since they never seem to rush you.

It's Korean BBQ. How bad can you really mess it up?!

This place is pretty good for the South Bay. I used to love this place called Emerald Garden but that place is long gone...*sigh* so I come here now.

I like this place because it reminds me of Chosun in LA because of the side sauces. Usually all you can eat KBBQ places are pre-marinated and that's it. Furusato however comes with small little side sauces where you can dip your meat in (Ha Ha I said dip your meat :X)

Anyways, don't be fooled by the banner they have hanging infront of the restaurant. The $9.99 Korean BBQ is only a small selection of meat. If you want all the goodies (kalbi and bulgogi) you have to order the regular buffet which I believe is $15.

This place is a vegan's nightmare. It's a definite shitty hole-in-the-wall, but when your singular goal is to stuff your gullet to the brim with meat, it's exactly the kind of place you want. Feast we did, at a mere $11.99 per person, on beef brisket and pork belly, seriously the lone waiter couldn't bring it out fast enough--good thing there were only two other parties in the entire restaurant when we went. Three plates of meat, two Sapporo and all the fixin's later, we practically had to role out of there we were so full. Bonus for the cheesy Korean pop music.

A few friends and I came for a late lunch around 3 on a Tuesday. Not at all crowded around that time. We all ordered the 11.99 all you can eat (briskets and pork belly). The meat was decent, pretty fresh looking. The service was terrific. The waiter knew what we need without asking. He was quick to fill our water cups, replace our appetizers, and of course ask if we wanted more meat. The waiter was so excited to recommend soju to another party that he took a shot with them ;) overall, a very great meal at a good price. Would definitely come back again. The downside was that the place looks a bit sketch and under decorated.

Wear clothes you don't care about, come super hungry, and this place will knock your socks off! A big group of us took advantage of the $15 dollar deal and stuffed ourselves silly with bulgogi, pork bellies, beef tongue (surprisingly tasty!), and beef brisket. My least favorite was the beef brisket, which was very fatty and not particularly flavorful without the salt/pepper/sesame seed sauce. The best part of this place is the thin rice noodles that you can make mini korean tacos with, something that you just can't get anywhere. There were so many sides that you won't lack variety on your plate. So good! And the waiter was very responsive to our requests for more food.

Just be careful how you walk -- the floor can be slippery from all the grease flying around!

Furusato is a total find!  (Forgive my ignorance here if I'm wrong but ...) Compared to most Korean BBQ places I've been to, Furusato gives a little added extraspecial goodness that adds to the flavor: rice paper, salt / pepper / sesame oil mixture to dip your meat in, and a green onion sprout lettuce mixture that I LOVE, along with the other little dishes (best part).  For under $20 this place is a supreme value (less than $20 for all you can eat!) ... and when we first discovered the place we ended up going back at least 3 other times within the same month.  Hooked.

Had some other items on the menu because I just couldn't do the all you can eat ... bibimbap (mixed vegetables w/egg, meat & seaweed)is good, but the soondobu (sp? sorry! - spicy tofu soup with seafood) was a little lacking.  Definitely stick to the all you can eat brisket and shortribs.

5/23/08 UPDATE:  Furusato changed their pricing so all-depending on how much of a variety of meat you want to choose from, it goes up starting from $15  to $20.  Still a fantastic deal.

For a while there all I wanted to eat was Korean BBQ. And the only place I wanted to go was Furusato! It used to be $17.99 flat, but now I believe it's a three tiered system: Only $10 for the fluffy meat! Well and the pork too. For $15 you get five types [EDIT 071007: first four types. I think they played around with the tier system at the beginning] , including marinated beef (kalbi without the bone). For $18 you get all eight types offered.

The older Korean ladies only know Korean. Good luck asking for extra stuff from them. I'm a rice fiend so I had to ask for rice. Every time I asked, the lady kept giving me a blank stare and a nod (which I oh so sillily mistook as her understanding my request) and left. And never came back. I think she pretended to not understand me on purpose.... Ah-so: moral of the story is you should brush up on your Korean or brush up on your hand gestures. But that's pretty typical of good Korean places, isn't it.

Oh and you don't stink of barbeque as badly as, say Manna, but still, don't wear your Sunday best.

i honestly only go there for the beef tongue, the kimchi cucumbers, and the gochujong, thats it.

the brisket can be greasy due to the high fat content(if you like that stuff that is).  when i feel like mixing it up i'll only eat the calbee(galbee, i dont know the proper spelling, i just know how to pronounce it!) when its the last plate.  it tends to burn on the grill....  then you have to call the waiter over to replace it...

one redeeming quality that people tend to forget about is that this place is all you can eat!

they dont always open or close on their posted times.

parking is free and usually not a problem.

so i went back last night and got the $15.99 deal with kalbi and beef tongue.  my review doesnt change much but i have to say it was a better deal with the kalbi and tongue. the meat is just better.  but then at $16+tax and tip, the great "deal" of this place is kinda lost, other than not having to go to Ktown.  i usually never order beef tongue, but i honestly like it now.  tastes like meat, go figure, but cooks better than chadulbaegi because its sliced thicker.  the kalbi marinade is pretty basic, but adds so much to the flavor and tenderness of the meat chunks when its grilling.

service was good tho.  they offered more dukbosam and anything else when we ran out.

however, i dared not go into the bathroom again...

I actually went to this Korean BBQ restaurant twice this past few months. This place is by far the cheapest Korean BBQ I found in Gardena. All you can eat beef brisket and beef tongue for $9.99. It comes with a big pot of side salad for two, kimchi, bean sprout, white rice noodle wrap, garlic/pepper and many other different Korean side dishes.  Did I say beef tongue? Yes I did but don't worry about grossness, they're absolutely delicious. You may be surprised finding yourself asking for more beef tongue.

Their selections are as follows;

For $9.99 you get a choice of two types of meat; beef brisket and beef tongue (I believe).
For $14.95 upgrade, you get  to choose from the $9.99 options plus two more type of meat; pork bellie and some type of bbq marinated beef.   There's also the ~$17.95 where you have 6 types of meet to choose from. I don't know the rest of the item since I never ordered the $17.95 version.

The prices are per person. For a party of two, for example, both will have to pay the highest price. In other words, you can't have one at all you can eat $9.99 and another at $14.95.  (Man, do I sould like I work for Furusato B.B.Q restuarant). They don't want to you to order the $9.99 for yourself and start freeloading from your friend who ordered $14.95. It just doesn't work that way. duh! ^_^  =P.

Did I mention that some guys can't cook? We prooved ourself to be worst than the contestants in Hell's Kitchen. Make sure you know how to BBQ by adjusting the fire intensitiy. Our grill turned pitched black on our first try. Luckily the two nice Korean Christian ladies sitting next to us helped us order another grill. They even cooked for us. "Cook the non-marinated beef first", they suggested.  Cool.

Dining cheap without the worry of not fulfilling your stomach, and enjoying the night away with some nice people is a lot of fun.

Happy Dining. Gotta hit the gym.

[re-edited] I meant beef tongue and not pork tongue...I'm getting all the tongues tangled and mixed up. =P

Talk about some deceptive but smart advertising.  I've driven by this place quite a bit now and all I ever see is this bright yellow sign that says 9.99 all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ.  $10 for all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ would be a steal.  I'd never seen an all-you-can-eat place have tiered pricing so it never even crossed my mind.  But you got to hand it to them to come up with something to get people to try the place with their deceptive advertising.  The very least it got me.
So Kuishinbou explains the types of meat for its price well. I can't imagine only eating beef brisket (no belly for me) the entire night so I upgraded to the 2nd tier.  The meat was decent and the good thing there were like 7-8 dishes of panchan along with salad and the white wrapper type things.
For its price I'd definitely rather be in Ktown than here.  But it's a place to stuff yourself with meat in the South Bay.

This korean BBQ was a decent place, wasn't the best I've had, but certainly, the all-you-can-eat portions were huge.  I was a bit surprised though that they didn't have many condiments out like the other korean bbq restaurants, and the tables were pretty small and cramped.  The actual food tasted pretty good, but because I had a few drinks, the food may have even tasted much better than what it really is, don't know though.

Service was decent, although they didn't really check up on the table too often.  I think I've definitely had better in the past.

Parking was crap seriously.  I was lucky enough to find street parking, but their small parking lot is tiny, that it can probably fit only six cars at most.  The back parking lot is so dim, and because the area isn't the safest, you're better off parking on the street.

Overall, decent bbq restaurant, but I've definitely had better in the past.

I came here for lunch and didn't wanna do the all you can eat since that's more of a dinner thing.  Their lunch "specials" are not much of specials ($10 and up) and only 5 to choose from, depending on the type of meat you want.

The food is ok, the place is nice, the service sucks! (unless youre Korean).  The old ladies are mean, and look at you funny.  The younger servers are pleasant enough.

The thing that really irked me is that I opened up the door for one of the owners since he was carrying a box full of stuff.  He did not bother with a thank your or a nod or a smile, nothing.  He acted like he did me a favor.  Yeah, i go around town hoping to find people to open doors for.  It's my secret hobby which gives me gobs of pleasure.

Will not be going back.

negative 5 stars!!!!

you can't or should not be allowed to call yourself a korean bbq restaurant if you don't serve neng-myun (cold noodles in broth).  i maybe a vegetarian now, but i did grow up eating korean bbq and it's a custom to serve neng-myun after your bbq meal.  go to the mothaland and that's how they do it!!

this place is disappointing.  the ppl i dined with said the quality of the meat was bad.  not a good thing to see more white than red, ya know?  unless you like eating 75% fat and 25% meat, then go to furusato.

plus you don't have the proper fans to air out the place.  granted i was there earlier this summer, but it's unlikely they've change (and if you did, kudos)

owners of furusato should close down and revamp.  go to korea.  hell, go to korea town and pick up a few tricks!

This place is decent, but it's not going to cut it for me. I have high standards when it comes to Korean food, especially Korean BBQ. This place has decent tasting meat, but the thing is, all of their side dishes have such an unclean taste. The place itself leaves much to be desired in terms of scent and cleanliness. And they have sub-par service. I've been there over 5 times and each time I went it just got worse and worse.

this place tickles my inner korean. in a kind of cheesy "Blood Sport" way. what does that mean? Watch the damn movie.

any ways.

So ive been here before. its your typical korean BBQ place, but it has ALL YOU CAN EAT! So what does this mean?
1. uh, ALL YOU CAN EAT!
2. you do take a step backwards in quality, although its not TOO bad here.  The plates ranged from SUPER FATTY to pretty damn good

There are three tiers of all you can eat, $12, $16, $21.  Each tier has designated meat items, but if the higher you go, you can chose from the letter expensive packages.

The only big disappointment was the beef tongue.  It was super frozen and was VERY tough.  Everything else was pretty ok.

The service, as mentioned in other reviews was SPOT ON.  the wait staff is very friendly also speak decent english.

If you are in a fix for some Korean BBQ in south bay, this is the place to go to. It doesn't beat Ktown, although this place is better then more ktown all you can eat places.

nom nom nom,

James

A nice place to go to if you don't want to drive all the way to K-town and have a craving for meat.
3 pricing - 9.99, 14.95 and 17.95.
You get beef brisket and flat belly for 9.99, beef tongue and boneless kalbi on top for 14.95, + tripe, marinated beef, spicy pork and marinated chicken for 17.95.
The side dishes and meats are average. Not many sides available and the meat is not stale nor fresh.
Highly recommend kalbi and marinated beef (#6).

After finding out El Recoto was closed for the nite, we drove by this place and was suckered by the deceptive AYCE sign of $11.99.  As mentioned in prior posts there are 3 price levels, We ended up ordering just the $11.99 frozen non marinated beef brisket and pork belly.  It was just OK. The price is a little high for this frozen stuff.  I probably would go for the 3rd tier if I ever came back here but I love the ALYE places in Koreatown.  The prices are cheaper and the food quality better.

Went there with the family, ordered their cheapest all you can eat combo. My fav of course is the beef brisket but I found them to be sliced a bit too thick for my tastes but it did not stop me from royally pigging out! Side dishes are ok as well, the kimchee was good. Oh and the salad as well didn't quite taste on par with la's BBQ houses..something was missing.

five words: ten dollar all-you-can-eat korean barbeque.
four stars for being an UNBELIEVABLE value (not necessarily for being a super food standout). this is extremely good cheap grubability people. give them some more business so they won't change a thing!!!!!!

the deal is all day:  $9.99/person at the grill with an unlimited choice of two meats, thin beef brisket and strips of thickly cut pork (like bacon).  This comes with unlimited soy sauce-dressed fresh romaine, bean sprout and scallion salad that complements the meatiness perfectly, and thin, moist rice papers to wrap it all together.  unlimited panchan is standard so you'll get that in good order. 10 bucks people!  respectable meats too! not simply all fatty and low grade stuff...pretty typical meats.

for five bucks more a person you can get two additional unlimited meats, kalbi and beef tongue.  for 18 bucks a person you get a total of 8 unlimited meats, including spicy pork and chicken.  but why bother!  you can stuff your self with yummy buttery pieces of beef and pork!  who needs manna all you can eat bbq when you can get such a deal in gardena in a clean and medium sized dining room environment.

i'm still full from eating so much for lunch today.  mmmm.

Great place! I'm usually always on a budget, so I'm constantly hunting for the cheaper places.  We usually get the basic BBQ, which allows you to get either beef or pork belly, and the price has gone up from 9.99 to $11.99 for unlimited food.  I haven't been there as often since the price hike, but for most, its still pretty good value compared to a lot of other Korean restaurants.

(If anyone knows of BBQ joints in this price range, pls. let me know. )

Food is great, don't like the service as much, but its good enough.  You have to keep asking for all the little dishes, they won't come and refill unless you ask.
