Furever Pets won't disappoint you. The pet food they sell is carefully selected so that you aren't offered the same harmful foods that you get at the grocery store. They also offer a plethora of supplies from rain coats to chew toys, to scratch post to stuff you would never have thought of before. In general, the products the sell here are better for our pets, than the products we buy for our human selves.
The only downside would be some of the prices. While everything isn't overcharged, the place definitely sets itself up as a somewhat upscale boutique. And when the scale goes up, so can the prices. Though don't let me scare you away with that revelation. In some cases you do have to pay for quality, and that is what you are getting at Furever pets.
The owners and employees deserve a good word as well. I have never found a more helpful or kind crew. I have found it good to pick their brains from time to time about whatever is going on with my pet.
I purchased two items and had to return them because they did not fit correctly. The items were returned within their 30-day return policy. The staff informed me they could not put the credit back on my card because it cost them a fee. After making a slight fuss that I wanted my credit back to my VISA, they reluctantly processed the credit.
A few day later, the owner (Simon) called to tell me I was "unwelcomed in their store because they do not like the way I shop." Simon then threated to call the police should I ever shop in his store again and unprofessionally hung up on me. I had already decided to stop shopping at Furever Pets after such an unpleasant shopping experience.
After I left Furever Pets, I stopped by PETS ON BROADWAY where their outstanding staff happily helped me. They offered to order sizes if they did not have it in stock. They told me I could return anything if it did not fit with a credit back to my credit card. Also, their prices are much better!!!

My husband and I and our dog, Lucy, just traveled over 2,000 miles from St. Louis, MO to Portland, OR. The trip went smoothly except for one rest stop where we tethered Lucy to the truck grill with her retractable leash. My husband unleashed her and put her in the truck, and we drove away. The leash was still in the grill. A sacrifice was made to the Eisenhower Interstate System.
Luckily we had a back-up leash for the rest of the journey, but I wanted a new retractable ASAP. How lucky we were to find we are staying literally around the corner from this place.
I took Lucy with me yesterday and we found a new leash, some poopie bags, and Lucy picked out a stuffed squeaker to. The employees were so nice and attentive. After asking my permission they gave Lucy some treats. I walked around to look at the cute stuff and the huge wall of collars/leashes. I spotted a pink collar with skulls on it I thought was adorable but did not get.
When I got home I told my husband about the collar and while I was taking a nap later he went and bought it. My dog is so punk rock now.
Don't go to this store!
Avoid it at all costs!!
Going down Broadway? Yeah, yeah, keep going straight, past 17th, 18th, 19th ave... No, No, No! Don't glance over your left shoulder at that sweet looking boutique with the red awning and sparkly white Christmas lights!
Thattaboy.... Keep going down Broadway 'till you hit the Starbucks. Why don't you grab yourself a latte?

BECAUSE IT'S MINE! ALL MINE!!!!!
From the moment I walked into this store almost two years ago, I was in love. Love, love, love.
I got my Doberman puppy at the tender age of evil (oops- I mean 8 weeks). Anyways, my dog was the first pup I'd ever owned, and up until that point, all I ever knew of were faceless conglomerate chain pet stores (who will remain nameless in their evil facelessness). I was in heaven when I found FP. They carry only the highest quality dog food and items, and yes, they even carry Big dog clothing!!!! (You big dog parents know what I'm talking about)!
My Dobie loves the workers at this place; they're no fuss, super cool guys who in turn love him back. Sometimes, when I go shopping there, a few of them will ask about him; they've seen him grow from a little tyke (who could fit in my purse) to a big tyke (who can fit babies in his mouth).
So, yes. If you want shoddy service, DON'T GO HERE!
Because all you'll get is quality, personalized care and superb selection/prices!
Furever Pets is where I buy everything I need for my dog and birds. They are always happy to special order whatever I need.
I am so grateful that Furever Pets do not sell live animals but instead promote adoption!

It reminds me of a good email from my gay little brother who moved to Mississippi...just can't wait to hear what's new and smile and gawk at something as nutso as me (like any mini-dog in clothing, hello) and feel the love!
We feed our golden retriever and cat Wellness, which is crazy expensive and the dog is still a flatulence machine gun, so imagine what our olfactory life would be like on like, Kibbles N Bits.
Anyway, they keep track of your purchases, without you even having to ask for them to look up your file card (awesome!) and you get a free bag after you buy like 10 or so...which is great at like $40 per bag!
And they are open really late on weekdays.
I love this place. There are so few stores that really win my heart and this one totally owns me.
As pet supply stores go - Furever Pets is the best for dogs or cats!!!
They have a number of products that are all well researched and considered before hitting their shelves, so I know what I buy there has been scrutinized already by their buyer as a clean and safe food.
I have a special needs kitty, and nearly every food on their shelf is ok for her to eat, unlike grocery store food that you can't trust in any way.
Their very friendly staff goes out of their way to be helpful, giving hints and encouragement when needed and they are all loaded with information about the products at the store. Sure they have gadgets and funny pet accessories that cater to the owner more than the pet, but what pet accessory isn't catering to us humans anyway? Theirs are just exponentially more healthy for your pet. Please go there. I love them, you will too.
All of the staff I encountered on my visit were helpful and courteous. They let me try different backpacks on my heeler mix and helped me get what I needed, not just what was most expensive. The dogs also loved the store, especially all the free treats. This will definitely be my first stop when I need (or want) to shop for my furry friends.
We LOVE Furever Pets!
As a recent transplant to Portland, it was a bit daunting to find somewhere that had the sometimes hard to find dog-food and all the highest quality products for my pup!
They also were quick to suggest really wonderful vets as well as some fantastic dog parks for my small-but-feisty chihuahua. Also, They're SO great when it comes to really any pet question one could have, they are the reason why everyone should support local businesses as opposed to the big chain stores and such!
Its so lucky to have them just around the corner!
Amazingly helpful staff provided me with much information on my amazingly sensitive dog. I learned more about my dog from these guys than I did from my veterinarian!
I love this place! There is no better place to get all your dogs needs met ... alright maybe the vet but whatever ...

I travel all the way from Beaverton to buy my cat's food at Furever Pets. They have excellent prices and are extremely helpful. They also carry oxbow products for rabbits so when I am behind on my ordering I can pick some up in a bind. To the owners of Furever Pets, thank you for your excellent selection of quality products!
I must admit, I absolutely love this place! My husband and I are just slightly neurotic and ridiculous about our cats. Not only have we found that Furever Pets has the best collar selection for kitties (there are TONS of great dog accessories out there but never very exciting cat stuff) they also have a great food selection and an incredibly knowledgeable staff.
When the pet food crisis began, I went there to ask them questions and get suggestions. They took the time to walk me through what they had and the ingredients in the various foods. They also keep track of your food purchases so if in the event your food may be recalled (although I can't imagine that as it's really high-end, all natural, no filler stuff), they can call you to let you know. They also give you discounts if you purchase food in bulk.
Hands down, this is my favorite pet place in town.
I just want to echo all of the wonderful things already said about Furever Pets. I found this store shortly after moving to Portland almost 3 years ago and I have been a loyal customer ever since. Not only is the staff helpful and knowledgeable, they make very thoughtful choices in the products they carry.
This is my favorite pet supply store in Portland. They have a great selection of high-end pet stuff and consistently excellent, friendly service. My husband and I like to go here to stock up on food, treats, toys and accessories for our two dogs. I love the little bakery set up at the front counter. I always buy the pups a couple of fancy treats when I visit.
Since I am unable to get my cats favorite treat in Chicago, (Cat-Man-Doo Bonito Flakes) I had to pick so up while I was in Portland. Maggie and Chad T. recommend picking them up at Furever Pets, and of course they had them because the selection is amazing. Hands down just a great pet store!

With all the rain Portland gets during the year, a slicker may be just the thing for your pooch.
If you're looking for the Tiffany of all pet stores, you'll find all the luxury extras at Furever Pets. The front of the pet store displays all the fun items like toys and frilly accessories, such as rhinestone collars.
In the back of the store, you'll find the best in upscale pet food for cats and dogs. The owner emphasizes the importance of giving your pet natural food, such as raw or grain-free. This was especially interesting to me, since I had never thought about giving my dog raw food.
The staff is very knowledgeable and eager to find out what diet would serve your pet best so don't be afraid to ask questions.
Tip: Bring your dog in with you. This way they can design a good diet for his or her needs.
Staff is amazing, food is amazing...if you are freaked about your animal...these are the kindest, most patient people ALIVE. Symon is the owner and I used to visit him just when I was having a bad day because he is so amazing and uplifting! I have learned so much from all of them about my pets, their behaviors, eating issues, etc. Organic is the way for humans AND animals...and these are the people for your pets. They really CARE.
