My wife and I purchased our couch from Funky Furniture six months ago, and were very pleased with the quality and service. It has lasted well and we're looking forward to purchasing a matching loveseat when we move.
When my company moved into a new office, I decided we should have funky furniture create our custom-fitted window seat pillows. Think of it like a single 20"x3" foot couch pillow - cut to size to fit the unique layout of our triangular office. What used to be completely unusable window ledges are now gloriously comfortable seating areas. The whole office loves them and we know they'll last.
I can highly recommend Funky Furniture for both personal and business solutions. -

I highly recommend Funky Furniture!
I needed 20 board room chairs for a client, and Reg helped me out every step of the way. Because of the large quantity, we had to make a special order. There were minor problems with customs, but Reg kept me updated and even personally delivered the chairs the day they came out of the shipping container.
He's friendly, honest, and easy to communicate with. I was so happy with his service and the quality of the product, that next week I'll be purchasing the same chairs for my next client! -

I had an excellent experience purchasing my sofa from Funky Furniture. I'd scoured everything online, West Elm, CB, Pottery Harm, been there done that with Ikea, and went to Room and Board where I fell in love with sofas but still wanted to avoid spending as much $$$$. I did one last google and came across Funky Furniture. I beelined to the store with an hour before they closed on a Sunday, walked in saw an amazing sofa (Neptune). It was a see like buy moment.
Reg the owner is great. Very relaxed. I walked in, he asked if I needed any help and just let me browse. Easy enough because their pieces sell themselves. The store has a great selection of furniture, the kind of place where you take another look and you see something else you want to buy. I was developing a mental wish list.
The sofa was in stock and Reg was able to deliver the sofa very quickly, it was an incredible service experience. Communication from Reg was excellent, we agreed on a time for delivery and they arrived on the dot. They even helped put the legs on the sofa and made sure everything looked fine.
Prices are great, and a note, there are pieces in the store, like my sofa that are built by local sources.
Funky Furniture = Highly Recommended. Excellent experience.
Addendum: I have a guest visiting and I bought the Neptune couch because it looked like a great option for someone to crash on. My visitor has given the couch a big thumbs up for sleeping comfortably. Bonus as they're crashing on it for over a week. -

I absolutely love this place!
I was really excited, and quite honestly obsessed with finding a good sofa set for my apartment. My place is pretty spacious and I needed the right kind of furniture to make the apartment look really nice. For weeks, my boyfriend and I had been debating on what kind of sofa to get. He wanted to get leather since it was easy to clean, and I wanted something more chic and comfy to sit in. I really wasn't that into leather.
I'd been searching for somewhere stylish and affordable and thanks to Yekp, found Funky Furniture SF. I'm quite an impulsive buyer, but my boyfriend is not so I knew that even if I showed him the pieces online, we had to go to the store so that he could meticulously look at the sofa.
When we walked in, all the pieces were gorgeous! We were greeted by a super charming and helpful lady and she had the answers to all our questions. To my shock, the bf agreed to buy the sofa then and there!
From the moment we walked into that store to the time the furniture was delivered to my apartment, everything was flawless. Reg was super nice and patient when he, personally carried my stuff up three flights of stairs! Mind you, I got a sofa, love seat and ottoman so those were a few trips up and down the stairs.
I am in love with my stuff and will not stop promoting Funky Furniture! Thanks for making my place look fab! XX -

I heart Reg!! We bought a custom sofa, armchair, and office chair from him, for probably about the price of a sofa elsewhere. They look great, and he was a pleasure to deal with. Oh, and the custom sofa was ready and in my apartment just 2 weeks after I ordered it - I had no idea that kind of turnaround was even possible.
I will definitely be checking with FFSF first whenever I shop for furniture, for as I live in SF! -

To make a long story short:
I originally ordered a sofa from West Elm. They were so incompetent that they lost the order, had no intention of telling me (until l called to get an update), and would take (I'm not kidding) 3 months to deliver, and an ADDITIONAL 3 MONTHS since the item had to be re-ordered because they "lost" the sofa. How one does that I have no idea. 6 months total. Plus, I was told, even though I've canceled the order, my credit card might still get charged if the sofa were to appear magically at their receiving facility. Worst operations and customer service I tell you.
THE LESSON:
Support local businesses!!! Funky Furniture's owner strikes me as a stand-up guy. By luck, strolled into this store, placed an order a day later, and a day after that, he delivered the sofa to my address! And, I saved nearly 40% on what I might have originally paid at that other gimmick. Five stars. -

This review is definitely pre-mature, as I have not even had the chance to purchase but I'm so excited to, I decided to Yelp before I bought! My BF found this place and brought me to take a look. We have been researching sofas and sectionals and lamps and tables for the past 2 months. We considered numerous prices and styles from Crate and Barrel, CB2, West Elm and never stopped scouring the Internet for affordable, well-made, eco-friendly contemporary furniture.
First thing that caught my eye was the sofas- they're clean, modern, tasteful, cute and ohhhh la la SO AFFORDABLE! There are a few styles available and seriously, I loved 95% of them. They were comfortable and some are even made in California. A loveseat can be as low as $400, a sectional for $1200. There was a white armless leather office chair that was $125 (slightly damaged but nothing I would have cared about), a beautiful arc lamp with a marble base for around $300 and another awesome, clearly unique industrial lamp for $1495- which is pricey but I would have paid good money for it.
We decided on a Divya sectional (by the way, all the furniture is named after the owner's friends... how sweet) but have nowhere to put it yet so there it stayed. We chatted with who I am assuming is the owner and he informed us that that particular sofa would be made in CA, could be custom-made and would be ready in 2-3 weeks. Hot diggity-dog! Wish I could have made a purchase that day but I am excited at the prospect of doing business with Funky Furniture! The owner was very humble about the love his business received on Yelp and he said that he just does the things he said he would do, it's as simple as that. LOVE IT. Can't wait to buy! -

No nonsense. Easy to work with. Decent prices. Good taste and no pressure. Reg worked around our very hectic moving schedule. He even stayed late so we could decide on the piece we wanted as well as made himself available for the movers to pick up our sectional during off hours.
We will be coming back for at least two or three other pieces that he had. So I definitely recommend Reg (owner) and Funky Furniture as a place to check out for your home furnishings. I'll report back on the quality of the sectional later, but it looks and feels pretty solid to me, and is attractive too. -

Reg is amazing! I came in after seeing a posting on Craigslist that Funky Furniture makes reproductions of sofas/etc. from much more expensive, high-end stores. After falling in love with a Design Within Reach (DWR) Neo sectional, I came looking for a way to make it a reality without footing the $4,900 bill. After visiting Funky Furniture and talking it over with Reg, I ordered a Divya sectional, which looks and feels like the DWR Neo, but costs less than half the price. There's a big selection of fabrics to choose from (including some fun and bright colors), and Reg can even customize the size and accents to your liking. After some consideration, I selected Kiwi green and chose brushed metal legs.
Unbelievably quick turnaround. I came in on a Saturday to place the order; Reg put the order in on Monday, I left town for work for a week and half, and the order arrived on a Friday -- exactly 10 days later! With Reg's help, my BF and I loaded it into our cars and took it home. Super easy to unpackage and set up! Even when we were carrying it to our townhome, two people commented on how "beautiful" the sectional looked, even when it was still wrapped in plastic and styrofoam!
Reg was even able to get feather and down wrapped cushions for my sectional, which makes a HUGE difference in comfort. When you throw those babies on, a very modern sectional with clean lines suddenly becomes something to sink into when you get home.
Funky Furniture also has a wide selection of afffordable (usually $495 - $1095) and cool looking floor pieces which you can buy and take right home -- couches, sectionals, ottomans, chairs, etc. Reg also creates and sells his own metalwork, which is stunning.

I don't typically take the time to write reviews but after my great experience at Funky Furniture, I decided I would make an exception. This was a Wow in my book. I loved the selection of funiture. Great place if you're looking for something different.... "fun and funky stuff" and not the usual boring furniture you see every other place. The owner was extremely helpful w/ helping me pick out items that would fit my new place. When my furniture arrived it was a perfect fit:) I am so happy with the quality of each piece and everything looks stunning. 5 Stars for sure!!!

WYSIWYG (WhatYouSeeIsWhatYouGet) furniture place. The usual 4-6 weeks wait time? No such thing: browse through, desire for an item, purchase, and take it home, like right now.
The proprietor is a soft-spoken, no frills individual. I like the absence of salesy, pushy with a close-up smile type of staff. As a potential client, you are free to roam, pontificate and decide.
Upon deciding on a bathroom cabinet piece, I settled my transaction, borrowed a dolly, and there I was strolling back through Folsom with my new cabinet piece on top of the loaner dolly

The prices are reasonable and the selection is decent. I was really excited about their style, but don't expect to get your furniture within 4-6 weeks unless you're buying a floor model.
We took home a floor model sofa and ordered a love seat and chair which were both delivered 8 weeks later. And when we finally got them, the legs were a different color and taller than the ones on the matching sofa we bought.
It took 4 months and several follow up calls to get new matching legs that in the end still don't really match. The color is too dark and one set of the legs are still too tall.
They did fix one of the cushions for us that lost a button... which was nice, but still disappointing since we only had the sofa for about 6 months. Under normal wear and tear conditions you wouldn't think you should have to have it repaired so soon.
Overall, I guess you get what you pay for. I say don't expect more than you would from Ikea. -

Very very positive experience. I had my eye on a beautiful suede red love seat i saw in the window display. Came in to the store several times, by myself and with my friends, before I made a decision. Reg was very friendly, but not "salesy" and did not rush me into making a decision. I finally did purchase the love seat, it arrived exactly when promised and Reg helped me to load it into my car. I love the seat, and my friends are fighting for it when they come to visit. Price was very decent and no complaints about quality so far: it's a beautiful, very comfortable and modern piece of furniture. My kitty decided to poo on it one day, and it cleaned off beautifully.
Definitely visit this story if you are looking for a new furniture. -

First off...Reg is a complete ANGEL! The store is near a friends house so I've been in and out of there for years checking things out. They have always had something that catches my eye. Finally I had the occasion to actually shop with them. We bought a beautiful sofa. Picked our fabric, which they had in stock, and within 2 weeks our gorgeous new piece was delivered! Made in California too. The store isn't huge, but I feel like they pick really smart pieces that can work well in many spaces. It will definitely be a first stop in the future.
Reg really believes in customer service and his products. That makes a huge difference in the experience.
Reasonable prices too.

Now that I am finally buying big-girl furniture and no longer have to settle for used IKEA on Craigslist, I was really excited to find well-designed, attractive, edgy furniture that I could potentially afford. Eat your heart out, DWR!
While the inventory isn't vast and varied, it's all really nice stuff: Not a single thing was ugly, out-of-place, or impractical-- I was very impressed by the ingenuity of some of the tables that had secret storage spaces, cool ways of extending, and other innovative functions.
I didn't see anything that was more than $800 (big couch), but I think it's safe to say that for a few hundred bucks, you can find a great dining set, coffee table, armoire, bookshelf, bar, or sideboard here for sure.
No assembly required. Nice staff. Good invesments! -

I've been looking for a sectional to go in my oddly shaped living room for years, and after searching all the trendy expensive places to no avail I stumbled upon this place. I had a design in mind and measurements, which I will soon know were too big to fit through my front or back door, oops (I'll get to that later though). So going into the store was great, I met Reg and he humored me with my "snuggle test" that I had to perform on each couch to make sure that it was deep enough. I liked the Divya sectional, but I changed a few things about it. I changed it to an L shape and adjusted the height, new legs and made the front end deeper. Reg was super accommodating and didn't even charge me extra. I placed the order about 2 weeks ago and it was delivered yesterday.
Here's where the 10 million stars plus comes into play. Reg delivers my couch yesterday after work himself, and right after it comes off the truck I see there's no way it's fitting through my front door. Just to humor me we try anyway. So next we try the back door, which has a set of stairs in the way of making the turn into the house. We try taking off the feet on the couch and maneuvering it in every way and still can't get it in. At this point it's getting late and Reg has been at my house for over an hour. The only way this couch is getting in my house is if I break a window or cut a hole in the side of my house! So we go to the window.... Reg helps cut out the putty holding the window in to the frame with a box cutter, yup long tedious project. Alas, after we pop the window out we finally get the couch in the house. Reg puts the feet back on and puts it all together for me so I can just sit down and enjoy my new sectional. AMAZING!!! The couch is amazing and the service was way beyond! Reg spent almost 3 hours getting my couch in and never once did he seem irritated or did he give up. Thank you Reg! -

This company is amazing!
My partner and I just purchased a mid century modern house. We were searching for a couch that would work with the style with either no luck or way out of our price range. Then a friend convinced me to check out Funky Furniture. As soon as I entered the store I know this was the right choice. Not only did they have a good selection of styles in the price range I could afford but they could customize the one I chose to the dimensions I needed.It also was ready in 2 WEEKS. This is unheard of in the furniture world.
If you are looking for modern furniture I would highly recommend Funky Furniture. -

I recently moved back to San Francisco after a year in Boston and was faced with restocking my apartment with furniture. I was looking for a mid-century modern feel and came across funky furniture's ad on craigslist. I found a matching sofa and chair in the color I wanted and style I was looking for (mid century tweed like and tufted) on clearance. delivery was free the very same day and Reg helped me get the couch into the elevator (which was a very tight fit). I appreciate the uniqueness of the sofa and the firmness of the cushions. The couch and chair are solidly built. I highly recommend funky furniture for someone trying to design their apartment's interior on a budget.

What can I say about this place but Fabuloso!!! I ordered a couch and chair and am very, very happy. They are amazingly beautiful, have great quality and it only took two weeks to get them done. The fabrics that they use are super fabulous in all of the right ways if you like the retro vibe. He has some ready made, great deals on other couches but I decided to go a step up and customize. I'm super happy about that choice and highly recommend it. I love them so much I'm going back to get another set for my office. This is definitely a place to go if you are wanting a stylish couch without breaking your bank account.

We bought a couch from here and I'm definitely a fan! Their mid-century modern-esque loveseat couches are only $495! Much better styling, durability and upholstery than Ikea for that price! The store has lots of cool modern furnishings all at decent prices. Our couch came in about a week and a half and was very easy to assemble, aka screwing the legs on and putting on the cushions. They do deliver for a fee of ~$75, pretty average. The owners are friendly and easy to buy from. My only complaint is that the couch isn't as comfy as some other couches however it is still relatively new and needs to be worn in. At the $500 price point you really can't deny Funky Furniture and it's style, perfect for SF.

This is the best experience I have ever had buying furniture. The owner Reg is great to work with AND an amazing artist. I bought some of his metalwork and have received many compliments on the piece in the few days it has been displayed.
I bought several items here and he delivered them personally the next day. He gave me a time (not a time window) and showed up exactly when he said he would.
If you are looking for furniture, do yourself a favor and at least take a look at this place. Good prices and amazing service. -

They have some really cool stuff here at totally reasonable prices. There's a lot of aluminum stuff, which doesn't strike me, but I like the small warehousey feel and some of the fun pieces. Check them out!

i love supporting local business when i can. with reg's competitive prices and friendly customer service i almost always can. i have purchased several pieces from reg, both custom and readymade. his business is stellar. he produces quality sofas for unbelievably low prices. i recently designed a custom sofa to replicate an architectura in-situ floor model, what would have been over $30,000 was completed for $15,000, $5000 of that was the expensive fabric i chose. reg is attentive to my needs as a designer. he and i hashed out all the various details together, so in the end there would be no surprises. he delivered in 3 weeks as promised. incredible.

I just found this store walking the dog down the street actually. It didn't catch my eye the first time I passed but after a few times I went in. Eventually I ordered a custom sectional. I don't have much design sense I suppose and the staff was extremely helpful in helping me pick the materials and colors. It looks great in my space! I would happily shop at Funky Furniture again.

My husband and I were looking for a sofa set (couch, love seat and chair) for our new house without much luck. When we found a couch we liked, it was very expensive, otherwise we kept finding cheap, ikea-looking crap. One day, while wandering around the furniture district in SOMA, we randomly came across Funky Furniture and knew we struck gold. All of their stuff is so cool looking! It's modern, but not too eccentric, which is exactly what we were looking for. We selected the Mid Century sofa set in charcoal and couldn't be happier with it. The couches look awesome, are comfortable to sit on, match really nicely with the paint color we selected in the living room and the cost of all three items was incredibly reasonable. Also, Reg was awesome to work with and very flexible with regard to the delivery dates. We would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for nice furniture at good prices. We'll be back for more items in the future!

I was riding my bike to work last week and saw this place on Folsom. I liked the chairs in the window and decided to come back after work that day.
I found the perfect table to go with the chairs, so much that I was prepared to return the table I'd just hastily bought somewhere else a week before. Since I was in the neighborhood, the owner offered to deliver the table and chairs to me that evening at 6:20. Guess what time he came? 6:20. He'd said curbside delivery but what the hell he carried everything up three flights of stairs for me. Stellar.
So, now every time I walk into my kitchen I go "ahhhh." Highly recommend this place. -

I bought a sectional from Reg that looks just like the DWR Neo sofa. It took less than 2 weeks to arrive with a gorgeous custom fabric that DWR didn't offer. Plus it was about half the price! When the sofa arrived the pillows were not the down-wrap ones I ordered and Reg had new ones made and hand delivered them to me within a week! Great store and highly recommend checking it out.
