I enjoyed all of the food on the buffet, except for the pork sausage, I didn't taste any spice in it, extraordinarily bland.
I am not a fan of Carolina BBQ sauce, wish they had some Texas style, or K.C. style sauce available for us out of towners.
I wish the food on the buffet was labeled, I didn't know what half the stuff on the buffet was called, though I enjoyed it. -

We stopped her on our drive to Charleston based on the reviews. Where are you people from that this food is considered acceptable? My husband felt like garbage the rest of the night after eating here.
The lure is this kitsch (looks like VFW hall) and the price ($8 for the night buffet).
The problem is the quality of the food is terrible. All of the seafood is straight from the freezer to the deep fryer. Hubby thought the BBQ was gross. The only think I had that didn't creep me out completely were the salad bar and the hush puppies. I ate some fried chicken, and immediately felt a little queasy.
Someone said the desserts are good...uh, not really. I took the strawberry shortcake to go. It was terrible. The strawberry "topping" was straight from a huge can from Costco - it was super gelatinous. Gross all around.
Not impressed and will never go back. We should have gone to Cracker Barrel. -

This is the best country food in a 50 mile radius and conviently located right off of I-95! I only get the veggies when I dine here and the fried cornbread.
I try not to eat it alot when I come to town but this place gets an A in my book! -

Excellent BBQ buffet. I'm not much for buffets, but really enjoyed this one. Pulled pork, sausage, and beef ribs. My friend had the fried chicken and said it was perfectly cooked. Extensive selection of sides, a small salad bar, and dessert bar. I enjoyed the cooked cabbage, collard greens, okra, and hush puppies. The chicken gravy was great.
Note that they moved about 4 years ago and the address in Yelp is incorrect. We called for directions, and they were very, very helpful. True southern hospitality. -

Going south on 95, Lumberton is just a few minutes from the South Carolina border. It is a quintessential Southern experience, from the food to the atmosphere to the clientele. We enjoyed it so much on the way down to SC that we stopped again on the way back up to NY.
Hugely popular, the line for lunch beginning at 11 had formed before we got there at 10:45 on a Saturday. At 2:30 on the following Friday, it was packed with lascivious lunchers. If you're looking to try a wide variety of food, I would opt for the buffet, but if you want a particular item made to order (the hush puppies are especially good right out of the kitchen and fries suffer sogginess in the buffet line), a la carte is also available. The buffet is $8.75 on Saturdays and $6.50 (!!!!) on weekdays. Biggest bargain on the East Coast, I tell you!
There are three lines on the buffet.
One is the very lonely salad bar, which has many tasty salad fixins, but really, no one's here for the salad.
Make a beeline instead for the hot food line, where you can find the following, plus lots more: mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, gravy, rice, lima beans and other beans, fried fish, fried chicken, bbq chicken, hush puppies, biscuits, fry bread, rolls, peas, sausage, collard greens, yams, corn on the cob... an endless aisle of fattening, buttery, delicious Southern specialties. My absolute favorites were the mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, bbq chicken, hush puppies, and biscuits. The biscuits were flaky, with airy, yellow pockets of butter and dipped IN the mashed potatoes made me almost keel over in ecstasy.
The dessert bar, like the salad bar, is not worth the space in your stomach. They have chocolate and vanilla pudding, red velvet cake, and cookies, all of which tasted commercially made or like mixes. If you stuff yourself enough at the hot food line, you won't even be tempted!
Time your journey down 95 around a stop at Fuller's. And bring me back a biscuit. -

We stopped at Fuller's Old Fashioned BBQ for lunch as we traveled US 74 on the way to Topsail Island. It's a few miles out of the way, but there are not a lot of choices on this long stretch of hwy 74. We thought about getting a BBQ sandwich, but when we realized that the senior buffet price was only $6.30, we decided on the buffet. It's no Golden Corral (which we love), but we had a very good lunch experience there. I chose skinless chicken, stewed I think, lima beans, mashed potatoes. green beans and a fried chicken liver. I also tasted the fried flounder. The dessert bar was impressive, and I had a very thin slice of chocolate later cake with a dollop of soft serve ice cream. It was all good. This was the kind of place where you could consciously choose a healthy meal, or throw caution to the wind and eat an artery-clogging, pig-out feast.

A wonderful Southern experience. An all-you-can-eat buffet of nutrient-depleted vegetables and deep friend everything-you-can-imagine. My favorites were the mac 'n cheese, corned beef hash, sweet potatoes, barbecue (for those who don't know, 'barbecue' is the full title of a dish that consists of slow-roasted pork with various sauces, depending on the region), crab cakes, and surprisingly the desserts. The barbecue here is pretty standard for central NC, i.e. prepared with a vinegar-based sauce; the sauce on the table complements it very well. I was very impressed with the crab cakes; not only was the crab cake itself perfectly prepared, but it was then stuffed in an actual crab shell (I posted a picture of it, of course).
The person below me went into good detail about what else is in the buffet, but I will disagree and say that the desserts are definitely worth saving room for. The cookies are fresh-baked, the homemade chocolate pudding comes with Oreo crumbles and whipped topping, the cheesecake is not your standard New York style but still delicious, and the Jell-O (which can be found at the salad bar) was somehow, without a doubt, the best Jell-O I have ever had in my life; sweeter and more flavorful than normal Jell-O, with a bit firmer consistency than I'm used to.
For less than $10, you fill up on everything you've always wanted to eat. The restaurant itself is an experience in itself; moose head above the fireplace, not to mention all the Southerners feasting on their favorite foods. A quintessential Southern experience that you will love. If you're ever driving through the middle of North Carolina, plan on going here for lunch or dinner. -

The pros: Fuller's is very authentic, has lots of choices, and is well-located and easy to find just off I-95. The clientele was a fascinating mix of ethnicites and income levels and was a treat to see in their Sunday best yesterday. The staff could not be friendlier, more welcoming or more efficient.
The cons: I am far from an expert on Southern cuisine, and you can only expect so much from a steam table buffet, but honestly I was not bowled-over by the food. I tried a little bit of almost everything on the hot buffet and the only thing I was really impressed with were the simple, disk-shaped corn bread cakes a very nice lady recommended to me. The restaurant decor, furnishings, and bathrooms are NOTHING to write home about. Strictly functional and not super clean.
I give this place three stars for the warm southern ambience, the variety of foods, the effort to move huge numbers of eaters through with decent food and service, and oh, the amazingly low PRICE. We paid the weekend premium of $11 for adults and about $6 bucks for under 9 year-olds (they charged our 12 year-old as a 9er). Worth the detour.
P.S. The desserts have been dissed but I found them pretty ok for buffet desserts, especially the banana cream pie and the self-serve ice cream! -

If you're on a roadtrip and want the southern bbq experience, this is a great place. Easy/Close access off of I-95 and looks like you would expect a southern buffet to look. The mashed potatoes were fantastic, creamy and just the right texture. The BBQ, also great, moist and flavorful, the BBQ sauce was tangy and vinegary, great with the meat. The macaroni was okay, a bit watery and bland. The collard/turnips were great as well. There were quite a few other options on the buffet to choose from, but a girl can only eat so much. The desserts looked delicious but I just at some frozen yogurt. As a couple on a roadtrip looking for a good place to eat Carolina BBQ, this place exceeded our expectations and more, definitely recommend!!

I had read about this place, so we stopped on our way to visit family. It was a southern buffet. Nothing fancy. We all filled our plates with fattening foods. I especially liked the mashed potatoes, mac n' cheese and the fried chicken and fish. I even threw a chicken liver on there. Great for a once-in-a while treat. Nothing you can do often.

After reading a number of positive reviews, we made a quick stop for lunch. It was very disappointing. Most of the food was fried and the pork barbecue was even bad. If all you want is cheap food, it is ideal but if you want a good meal, go elsewhere.

My kids and I were looking for a good BBQ/Soul Food spot to stop at on our drive up 95 from Georgia, so we found this place on Yelp! Conveniently located right off 95, we were taking a chance, but we were very pleased! The place was pretty crowded, which was a good sign, and the restaurant was clean! We feasted on some of the best fried chicken, cream potatoes (what my southern father would call mashed potatoes), corn, Lima beans, cabbage, fried gizzards, fish and tonsssss more! They also served pulled pork, which my son said was excellent. I don't eat pork products, but I value his "foodie" opinion as well. The desserts were ok, for a buffet, and the Sweet Tea was also Mmmmm GOOD! Anytime I travel south, I usually stop at several spots to taste and judge the Southern Sweet Tea and this one gets two thumbs up!! The wait staff had that true Southern Hospitality approach and the price was average for the variety of food! I would definitely mark this as a place to stop on my travels down south! Happy Eats!!!!
