Garden Grove, CA
We don't come to Fuji's enough. I was here recently as the first week back in school after a 6-week break can just down right be busy from running back and forth. We just wanted to grab a bite just about anywhere at this point. This place doesn't always come to mind for me when it comes to deciding where we should go eat because it is located in a pretty hidden spot (hence hole in the wall). We hardly drive by it, but it is a place we will be going to more often (i hope).
My favorite burger from Fuji's has to be the bacon teriyaki burger. For the price that I get it for, It is damn good. The fries and sweet potato fries are delicious as well.
The crab wontons and spam misubi are two things that we seem to always have to, have to order every time we come here. It is our go-to appetizer. For simple side dishes, they are very good.
The best thing I have discovered from here was the green tea ice cream. Definitely THE BESTEST of the best. It is on a secret menu or something because it is definitely not listed on their actual menu, but I would highly recommend trying it.
Sometimes they keep you waiting for a bit, but it is definitely worth it. -

Probably a 3.5ish.
I can't even tell you how many times I have passed by here and told myself to try it. All it took was a few yelp reviews to convince me to go for it. From what I can tell so far, Fuji's is just good, cheap comfort food. I've been twice now and I have so far tried the teriyaki pineapple burger, char sui burrito, fries and onion rings. Everything was pretty decent, especially for the prices. If I had to have one notable gripe so far, it would be that the onion rings were too heavily breaded. Aside from that, the burger and burrito were tasty enough. To be honest, I never would've thought that char sui would be good in a burrito but it was. Next time I plan on trying the avocado teriyaki bacon burger because a lot of people rave about it in their reviews.
To be completely honest, I would rather go somewhere like Slater's 50/50 burgers and put out more money to get an awesome burger. However, when it comes to convenience, this is a good place to settle for and still get pretty decent food. I guess I'll have to see if my rating can be boosted after a few more visits here. -

You know that guy in your High School class who was a great football player, but never amounted to much after graduation? He sits at the bar with his Bud and a receding hairline, reminiscing about those glory days, 5, 10, 20 years later....yes, I'm looking at you Michael Bay. STFU already.*
Well, in the restaurant world, Fuji's Famous Burger is that guy.
Dude, I realize that at one time your burgers were probably the best in the city, but now they're downsized to puny, rubbery things that have less flavor than a patty from McDonald's. Those burgers NEED the teriyaki sauce to make them seem tasty (have you recently tried one without teri sauce?) Yes, I would actually rather get a burger at McDonald's than Fuji's. The title of your restaurant is a joke.
But....
Fuji's sweet potato fries are good, actually the best I've ever tried. The #5 sandwich on Armenian bread rocks, too. Why the heck would anybody be ordering a Fuji's "Famous" burger when they could get the #5? I'll have you know, these two items of deliciousness saved your review from 2-star hell.
False advertising..change the name to Fuji's Famous Sandwiches and the planets will align just for you, Mr. Fuji. Or, restore your burgers to their former greatness and the fib is forgiven.
*I should clarify, there actually was a guy named Michael Bay in my class, just not the director you're thinking of. -
Review from Elise V.
I found my new favorite item here.
The best friend and I wanted to get a quick bite so we stopped by on our way home from shopping today. I guess I wasn't paying attention when I looked up at the menu and I ended up ordering the wrong thing from what I typically get (the avocado teriyaki bacon burger).
When I was ordering I was like, "Wait a minute...is that what I usually get?" I didn't realize I ordered the wrong thing until I was sitting down, but I was like, "Oh, well. I'm sure it'll be fine because it's from Fuji's."
Dood, I am SO GLAD I wasn't paying attention. I ended up ordering the #5 sandwich - the avocado teriyaki beef AND bacon on a toasted French bread with tomatoes, lettuce and some mayo. It was freaking DELICIOUS. The bread was freshly toasted and everything was just amazinggggg. It's my new favorite item. For $7, twice the cost of the avocado teriyaki bacon burger, it is soooooo worth it.Listed in: Burgersss, Hidden Local Spots

BOMBASS BURGERS!! I love that citrus-y taste on any of my foods and their teriyaki burgers hit the spot every single time. The juices drip down your chin as you eat it and I don't mind how messy it gets but its delicious.

My run to place for an avocado burger fix
We got take out from this place for dinner. We got the following and their description:
Avocado Teriyaki Burgers- Messy messy! Literally dripping with it's juice. It was too watery for my taste but was flavorful and good.
Onion Rings- Extremely salty. Very crunchy. Good but was way too salty.
Zucchini- Greasy but good.
Crab Wontons- Got a small which included 4 wontons. There definitely was barely any crab. They are super small and not worth it. Don't recommend.
I didn't pay so I didn't know how much it was. The price is pretty cheap here though, I remember. This place was generous on sauce. Good place if your craving something teriyaki or an avocado. The inside is small. It's a good spot to grab some quick food. -

It's located at the corner of Gothard St and Edinger Ave in Huntington Beach. Google map is often stupid. It's in a tiny shopping plaza. They got a TV if you care. Decor is simple yet very Hawaiian. Simple tables.

Beef burrito with fried rice: Teriyaki beef was kinda too sweet for me. Fried rice was bland. Extra Avocado ($1 plus - it comes only a few bits. I don't recommend) doesn't do anything to the dish. Meh.
Teriyaki bacon burger: pâté is very thin and not bad. But the sauce is a bit too sweet for me. Bun was a cheap one. OK.
French fries: Good fries! They also got sweet potato ones.

I was kinda excited to find a Hawaiian burger shop in OC... ;( It's nothing special to me. I prefer "Teri Hawaii" in Torrance for better Hawaiian foods.Listed in: Burger....

I used to love this place in high school. I recently went back after 2 years and it wasn't the same. Maybe because it was a busy night? My boyfriend & I waited for more than 20 minutes for 2 burgers, and when we got them they were slightly burnt...
I'll be going back to try it again. Maybe it was just a bad night. -
Review from Dave C.
I have been coming to Fujis off and on for over 20 years. It's cool to see that it withstands the test of time, right down to the decor. However, I'm not so sure the burgers have faired so well.
Whenever I come here, it's always the same order: Teriyaki cheeseburger with fries. The thick, crinkle cut fries are still some of my most favorite, and I enjoyed them, but the burger just didn't live up to my previous expectations. Perhaps it's because I've tasted some really good burger creations lately, that Fujis can't match up, or perhaps they actually have reduced the quality of their product over time. All I know is that I was eating frozen meat that was overcooked with a much too toasted bun that was less tasty than I remember.
The people are nice, the service is good and the price is downright low compared to other burger joints, but I'd rather pay more for a bit better quality product.
Thanks for the memories, Fujis, but this may be my last visit.
(NOTE: I made some editorial changes because I typed this first version on my phone. The "typos" and autocorrections were hysterical in my opinion, but not exactly what I wanted to say. I wish there was a strikethrough command so I could leave them in just for fun.) -

Great price, great food, great service with a smile! Support your local independently owned businesses!
This place is a must for avocado lovers, i recommend the Avocado Bowl which is also considered vegetarian food!
Try the Char Siu burrito for those who want to eat a lot.
The spam musubi is also a great choice. -

Review from Peter P.
I remember first eating here when I took driver's ed way back when before Yelp even existed. I finally revisited after all these years and nothing has really changed. They serve up some pretty good burgers, but I'm actually not a fan of their Terikyaki sauce even though I know that's what makes Fuji's so memorable. It just makes the burger too sweet for my taste. I prefer the regular avocado bacon cheeseburger. Their patties are kind of thin so an extra patty for $1 more is essential if you have an appetite like mine.
The French fries and zucchini sticks weren't very good though. They are likely from the freezer and are on the bland side. Still, the burgers are good enough to have me coming back. There is a frozen yogurt place next door if you want dessert after your meal! -
Review from Nikki M.
I had been to Fuji Burger a few times in high school, but as I started hanging around Long Beach in college, to be honest, I had forgotten about Fuji's until I started poking around Yelp. I was in the area and looking for a quick bite that I could get to go from, and Fuji Burger came up.
This place is a hole in the wall HB favorite, serving up teriyaki EVERYTHING - burgers, sandwiches, bowls, you name it. The thing that I love is that they have an variation with avocado for just about any option. Fuji is famous for their burgers, but I don't eat hamburgers, so this a review based upon a sandwich.
I ordered the chicken teriyaki avocado sandwich on a roll, and I ordered a teriyaki bowl for my mom, and a bacon teriyaki burger for my dad. We also got a side of sweet potato fries. The place was not crazy busy on a weekday at 5 p.m., but there were a few customers, as well as a duo eating inside the place. Ordering was fast, and our food was ready to go within 10 minutes.
This is one messy sandwich! But the sweet teriyaki sauce is delicious. Not the best sandwich to get togo for - my mistake though, not theirs. The sandwich was a bit soggy by the time I got home, but the flavor was great. My mom enjoyed her teriyaki bowl, and my dad enjoyed his burger, although he did not proclaim it to be the best burger despite many of these claims by HBers. The sweet potato fries were outstanding, they really had great flavor and texture...some of the best I've had. And that's saying a lot, because sweet potato fries are quite the fad right now (in case you missed that somehow!) so I've ad my share of these orange fries this year.
Great inexpensive and fast meal in Surf City, and a local favorite for a good reason.Listed in: H.B., Baby!

Ordered the teriyaki bacon burger and onion rings to go. Service was quick. The burger was a small, very thin patty that was cooked far too long. Onion rings were fine tho. Crunchy, not soggy. I doubt I'll go back.

I actually came here 2 more times.
The 2nd time..I mistakenly bought a burger again....it was better than the sloppy messed up last one I had, but still nothing out of the ordinary...2.4/5
As for the 3rd time, I had a fish burrito which was more impressive than their burgers. Don't get me wrong, I'd never crave for this, but since its a couple feet away from school..might as well give it multiple choices..3rd times the charm
Burrito is fresher and will fill you up unlike their burgers.
I had to put a ton of saracha to hype up the flavor but overall it was ok. a solid 3/51 Previous Review: Show all »

Great food, great family owned operation and great clientele (how often can you say that?) Mainly locals, everyone is always friendly and happy to flier there, even when it's really busy. Unique taco and burger flavors. Fusion defined well before fusion was a trend/concept. I go back every time im home.

Nice little teriyaki joint tucked away in a corner that you wouldn't have known existed unless someone told you.
I've been hearing about this little gem and finally tried it. Came here for those teriyaki burritos and I've got to say they are quite tasty. I'v egotten both the chicken and beef and it comes with fried rice inside. Both are delicious and filling!
My friends get the burger and I hear they are great as well. I'm going to have to try it next time but these burritos does it for me. -

Ahh..Fuji's...This place has been around for decades (literally). I have been coming here since a youngster when my father would bring me for weekend plate style food, before all those other wannabe Teriyaki joints opened up selling horrible fake plate food. This is a family owned and operated place, and they take pride in what they offer to their customers.
The menu has changed a little over the years, but they never take away what they are good at making, and actually add new popular items that stick! If ever in doubt what to eat, this is always my first back up.
I have been ordering the chicken salad, Char siu pork plate and meat wontons over the years. I have not ordered any of the sandwiches, burritos or hamburgers but everyone raves about them.
This will be a spot that will not sell out or pop up numerous locations to earn extra profit, they know what they offer is amazing and will keep it going for all their loyal followers!
Oh and for the people who complain about the atmosphere and nothing to offer, then go hit up a Franchise Tacky Teriyaki place or Roys or something, I mean come on...you expecting royal treatment at a local comfort spot?! -

Growing up in the South Bay, my teriyaki burger expectations are pretty high. Fuji's doesn't quite wow me with their teri-avocado burger. Patty is small and thin, i mean really thin! Decent amount of avocado on there. But taste-wise, it just didn't do it for me. I was hoping something that tasted like the long gone Mago's in Culver city or Pitburger in Gardena but alas it wasn't to be. This burger was too neat for my standards.
Fries were ok - kind of reminded me of school lunch krinkle cut fries.
Beef/vegetable bowl was kind of disappointing. A lot of bean sprouts and not enough beef. it was like 25% meat, 75% vegetables with 50% of the vegetables being bean sprouts. Another disappointment.
Iced coffee - weak. But at 1.40, it satisfied my non-carbonated caffeine fix.
But I'm giving it a 3 stars and will give this place another shot. Probably order the teri beef sandwich next time. If that fails to satisfy, I'll take my business next door to Huckleberry. -

I've been meaning to come here since it's so close to GWC and from the positive things I've heard about the burgers.
+ The avocado teriyaki cheeseburger hit the spot for my gf. The burger itself isn't humongous but the proportion of beef/cheese/avocado/and nicely toasted bread made her happy. The teriyaki sauce itself is well refined and light considering how most teriyaki spots are super sweet/salty.
+ Teriyaki chicken burrito. This is awesome. I bought mine w/ fried rice and it delivered the carb fiesta meal I wanted after Catalina Island. The size is a 1/3 smaller than a Chipotle burrito but it filled me up. Really good fusion burrito imo.
They also serve Hawaiian items (spam masubi) and a bunch of other things. I'll be back soon to see what else Fuji specializes in. -

I love Fuji's!!! In high school, I was a pescatarian, so I only ate their fish tacos. I still was in love with them! They were seriously delicious, and sometimes I still go back for them.
However, now that I try a variety of things, I have to say that my favorite is the burritos.
Always order friend rice! This is key!!!! I've tried chicken and char siu. Both of them are really delicious!
The burgers are freaking amazing, too. Avocado teri burger?! YES! I get pineapple on mine, too. I love pineapple. Especially when it is smothered in teri sauce.
The prices here aren't bad. Definitely a local favorite. I keep coming back! -

Let me just say one thing: I absolutely hate teriyaki.
So why am I at Fuji's Famous Burger where they serve nothing but the icky sauce? Simple. They have pretty bomb ass food. Normally I hate the weird aftertaste that most teriyaki sauce leaves, but this place... This place is THE exception.
I always get the Avocado Teriyaki Bacon Burger with the fried zucchini on the side. Yes, you're right. It's as delicious as it's sounds and probably so much more. Seeing as most of the reviews here already mentions it, you can bet it's something you should try on your first trip here.
Fuji's just seems like one of those little hidden gems of the OC that I always take my out of state friends to (next to In&Out of course) when they're craving for something messy, fulfilling or simple good food. -

Avocado Teriyaki Bacon Burger!!! Do I need to say more!? SO GOOD AND CHEAP :9 MMM I heard with pineapple is pretty good too. I also have another favorite there which is their Teriyaki Beef burrito with fried rice and avocado! Def must add the avocado. It is only a dollar extra.
Warning: super messy to eat (the burgers). Haha. Well for me it is because the yummy terriyaki sauce keeps on dripping. :/ -

Oh hot dayum this is my absolute favorite place to eat. Every time I put that Avocado teriyaki burger with pineapple in my mouth I jizz all over myself. Well, maybe it's not extreme, but it really is an orgasm in my mouth. I think this review has become too sexual already.
The burgers here are what I like to consider their signature and best things (since it's called Fuji's FAMOUS BURGER). As every reviewer has practically mentioned, the Avocado bacon teriyaki burger is the bomb diggity (and yse, it's so bomb that it's diggity). As in you will be digging into this scrumptious morsel unable to take time to savor its perfectly seared buns, melted soft cheese, sweet and salty teriyaki glazed sauce, and amazingly embedded avocado. The burger appears small, but it's definitely fulfilling (since avocado is rich in fiber and keeps you full longer).
The service here is EXTREMELY fast, and the prices are pretty cheap too! Everything on the menu is EXTREMELY delicious and mouth watering. I feel like I'm feasting on unicorn blood every time I eat here (And in no way is my name Tom Marvolo Riddle nor am I a dark lord of any kind shunned by wizards). Walk in, order an avocado teriyaki burger, eat it, and be filled with happiness, glorious food, and a wallet not left broke.
Oh and there are two really cute asian girls that work here that are just so sweet :'} One has a tattoo and is really nice and friendly! Well all their cashiers are but yeah, I love ABGs. -

We found Fuji's while waiting for our food from Huckleberry's. Hubs said that we had to try the teriyaki avocado and bacon burger. So we did. The burger is packed with avocado and the bacon was so very crispy. The burger itself was just ok. The patty is pretty tiny.
Will be back to try out some of the other food. -

I get random cravings for this joint. When I think of this place, I think of avocado! This was the go-to lunch place for many students at Marina, which tells you that their service is affordable as well as pretty speedy. I like ordering a fish burrito with large fries whenever I go here. The portions are generous, and fills me up pretty well.
The ambiance of Fuji's is very casual. They have their own private parking lot, which makes parking easy. When you walk in, you usually can get in a quick line, order food, and choose a place to sit in either of their booths along the wall, or if you have a bigger party of people, at one of the tables in the middle of the restaurant.
If you're looking for some HB mom and pop flavor, this is one place that you have to check out. -

I went here with a friend three other day after hearing him go on about what a great mom n pop shop this was.
After looking through the other yelp reviews, I'd decided on the avocado teriyaki bacon burger. It was phenomenal! The teriyaki sauce wasn't overbearing, the bacon was nice and crisp, the patty itself wasn't dry and perfectly spiced and grilled, the binds were nice and soft, and the avocado have it that extra bit of "fatty" goodness that brought everything together. :) I couldn't help but add sriracha sauce to it. The burger was already great on it's own, but with the sriracha... Oh man! Heaven!
The restaurant itself is quaint. It hasn't got the largest dining area, but it's not crowded either.
The parking is plentiful. If anything, after school hours, you can just park st GWC and walk on over.
The staff were really nice as well.
I will definitely be bringing friends back ' round here in the future. :) -

THERE IS NO DIVE BETTER THAN THIS.
I have been coming here for about 8 years now. It is literally to die for.
Avocado. Terikyaki. Burger. ALL IN ONE. You will honestly die.
There are no words to describe how amazing I think this place is. After being vegetarian for so long, there is nothing I craved more than Fuji's burgers.
They have everything Hawaiian food to live for.
They even cater!!
If you are EVER around this part of Orange County, you have to come to Fuji's. It is a small hole in the wall place that you can miss if you are tuning the radio in your car on Gothard. But that's what makes it so great. I always wondered why they didn't expand the chain and make it nicer with so much constant service coming in. But I guess that's the beauty of a place as delicious as this.
I highly recommend:
the avo teri burger
the crab wontons (omg so good)
the miso soup
the fried rice
the bowl with teri beef and fried rice
and pretty much anything on the menu. so good. i want it now. -

So its not the best burger I've ever had, but what I love about the place is the TERIYAKI SAUCE that I like to pour on my burger and the prices are right!
Usually I go here for a quick lunch while I'm at work. I get an avocado burger and a side of teriyaki sauce.
I tried the turkey burger before and for the extra price it isn't worth it, the patty is small and the one I ate didn't have a good texture too it, like it was almost overcooked or something. So I would stick to the hamburgers here....
I've tried their fries and fried zucchini, yummy and good sized portions.
I also had the iced tea in the fridge, not too bad. This joint is a hole in the wall but I still love the place! -

Back in High School, my friends and I would order ahead of time and rush here just to eat.
The Avo Teri Bacon Burger is probably the best thing on the menu in my opinion. But I've tried a variety of their other items and they're almost all equal to par. The owner is very nice and will listen to any suggestion you give him.
The workers are always really friendly, a couple of my friends use to work there also. This was the place to go if you wanted to grab a quick and delicious lunch for cheap.
