Finally, I was able to visit the imfamous Fuji's!

I must say it is pretty awesome! The food was definitely better quality compared to most sushi buffets. I'd definitely go back!
Only thing that frustrated me was that everyone gathers in certain areas to pick up the sushi boats so it get crowded and frustrating if the boat you want is slowly floating along with the chance of someone else picking it up before it gets to you.

Also, if you have a small group, i'd suggest sitting at the bar/sushi boat part cause you have direct access to the boats and sushi chefs!

Just make sure you wear your stretchy pants and get there early.

Davis Sushi Buffet is really okay for me, but Fuji's is just...not quite there.

First of all, the lighting is really weird in here. I mean, I know there are only like..3 tiny windows in the back but they could at least turn up the lights? It wasn't dark and it wasn't bright either. Just somewhere in between that made it look kind of shady in there.

The food on the sushi boat looked sad so we jumped straight to orders. And boy did we have a hard time with order...Oh yea, their menus are pretty jank. Mine was sticky and gross to the touch. They really need to get new menus...pictures are blurry so you can't tell what you're ordering. After you decide what to get, you can't order off the waitresses here at DSB (the ones here just refill your water...), so you have to go to the front of the sushi boat and try to get the attention of one of the chefs which is really inefficient on a busy day. Seriously takes 10 min to just ORDER a plate of sashimi?

Chef's rolls look exactly like the ones on the sushi boat. Unappetizing and I couldn't finish..

Desserts aren't too bad. The cakes are flavorful if you still have room in your stomach.

I realize I'm paying for a sushi buffet so I shouldn't be expecting much from the food, but if DSB can do it...so can you Fuji.

I'm so over this place. The first few times I went, it was decent for a buffet, but over the course of a year, the food quality and cleanliness has really gone down. When I sit down, I feel like I'm at a dirty Chinese restaurant - everything is sticky, dusty and the floor looks like it's never been cleaned, EVER! Not the best environment for eating raw fish.

If you do end up going here are some tips:
    1.  Sit at the sushi bar.
    2.  Go before 8pm. Although it says they close at 9pm, they mean shut the lights at 9pm, so they stop the sushi boats at 8:15pm.
    3.  Don't order any of the tempura items.
    4.  Do order from the sushi guys so you get the freshest food.
    5.  Do try the sesame balls if they are warm from the back kitchen.
    6.  Don't go to the bathroom and especially don't wait in line for it. Outside the bathroom is a lovely wall that you have to stare at while waiting and is splattered with god-knows-what along the bottom. I just stared straight ahead, in fears that I would see something else that I don't want to see (like a four legged friend).

FAVE restaurant in DTOWN! along with Shanghai Cafe. But I can't get enough. No way can you complain about fresh sashimi and made to order rolls, agadashi tofu (pardon the spelling), shrimp tempura, and chicken skewers all day unlimted! you should really go during lunch cause dinner gets pricy and frankly, its still the same food. sit by the bar because youll have 24-7 access to asking the guys for request. people will be reaching over you which is sorta ghetto, but you won't mind it when you're scarfin down on grub. strategy: regardless if your friend doesnt want any food, always say, "can i get ______ for two"..alwyas works and they give you more than you wanted.
seriously my fave restaurant. other sushi buffets didn't really compare just cause when you sit at the bar, its a whole different experience than other buffets.

It's an institution, they told me.

Everyone loves this place, they told me.

Line out the door because it's so great, they told me.

And to a certain degree, they might be right. Fast service, not too crowded on a Saturday night, and pretty tasty miso soup. I was even able to overlook that the maki rolls were sliced indiscriminately, with some pieces being two inches in width and thus needing to be cut further in order to be consumed.

However, this meant nothing the moment I bit into the salmon sashimi and felt the unnerving crunch of a still-frozen piece of fish.

    Sashimi? Frozen?

Now look, I've found some quality sushi spots in Davis, so I can't blame the middle-of-nowhere location for the lack of freshness. And maybe I should have been a little more hesitant when a place has the word "buffet" in its title.

But I've been around the block long enough to know when a sushi joint has committed one of the cardinal sins. And I'd like to think that I'm smart enough to not tempt fate. Fool me once...

I LOVE THE SUSHI BOATS :)
Pretty good variety, decent lunch price, and soo much fun! I recommend sitting around the boat and not at the tables .. it's just a lot more fun! Also, even if you're not a big sushi fan you can order stuff off the menu (teriyaki, etc.) all included in the price.

I came here with a large group of 27 people for lunch after making a reservation. This place is pretty small and packed, so it was a really good decision to make a reservation. I was surprised that it was only $13.95 for all you can sushi lunch... Pretty good price considering all the different kind of sushi you can order.

Once you're seated, you can go up to the area where the sushi boats and chefs are and pick up whatever you want off the boats. A lot of the sushi boat have california roll, salmon+cream cheese roll, deep fried california roll, seaweed,  and so on. There are also full rolls above the sushi boats. If you don't see something that you want, you can look at the menu at your table and ask the chef to make it for you. I love tihe Lion King roll, and I was looking for the roll on the menu, but it wasn't on there. However, when I asked one of the chefs for it, he made it for me in 5 minutes! Whoohoo! The Lion King roll was kind of sloppily made, but it was good enough for a buffet. I'm sure there are some items not listed in the menu that the chefs can also make for you.

I expected really crappy sushi for the price, but the food was pretty good for it's price! Some of the food are very hastily made (sushi somewhat frozen, loose, and so on), and I have had better quality sushi at sushi buffets... so I give this place 3 stars. I almost gave it 4 stars though!

I got in a super weird gross cheap/buffet sushi craving mode for like a month straight and I was determined to eat at ALL the AYCE sushi places I could find. Yes, I'm disgusting and so is Fuji's.

    Sushi:
    Sake - FROZEN.
    Maguro - Ran out.
Hamachi - They hacked it out in odd shaped pieces and it was half frozen.
    Unagi - Pretty good.
    Tai - Decent.
Masago - Can't go wrong with this cause you just buy it and put it on rice. They put a quail egg on it for me so that was nice.

    Cooked foods:
Do I really have to push and shove and fight my way through this massive crowd of Davis students just to snatch a soggy, greasy ass piece of food before someone else does? Almost all the food was soggy, even when you got it fresh.

Kalbi - Greasy, fattie but actually tasted pretty good.
Fried chicken - Typical Chinese fried chicken. Ok flavor.
Soft shelled crab - Good when it came out hot and crispy. A little too much batter though.
Crab ragoons - I love these things everywhere I go so they were good here too.
Fried bananas - You can't go wrong with fried bananas so these were good.

    Desserts:
    I wouldn't trust em.

Side note: People here are fuckin vicious and will literally kick you to snatch something off the sushi boat. Luckily I'm a bitch and I kick back.

YES, make it a point to come early if you want bar seats.

Personally, I prefer the bar seats so i don't have to keep constantly getting up to get more food. Also, if you're sitting at the bar you can see and enjoy all the different varieties of rolls and dishes they have float past you in the boats.

I usually go for lunch and am in love with the davis roll. Try it! If you're unfamiliar with the place, they also carry menus and if you'd like something off the menu you can always ask one of the chefs to make it. I love the shrimp tempura, the breading on the large shrimp are awesome as well as the soft shell crab.

For dinner, they have a slightly larger selection and offer free beverages, tea, and miso soup. The miso soup is on point. They offer things such as cream cheese wontons, korean bbq style ribs, fried fish, etc.

The service is average. They really just seat you and pour you water. They usually keep my cup filled, but when i'm in need of an extra napkin you sorta have to flag em down. kindly, of course.

Although their prices have risen, i still come here when i'm needing a huuge sushi fix.

P.S. Don't forget to finish your meal with sliced oranges and yes, they have tv. :)

If you like mayonaise, cream cheese, imitation crab, and deep-fried additions and lots of it, this place is for you! There's no shortage of these items on the unrefrigerated watery conveyor belt that serves room temperature sushi all day long! Make sure to try the flavorless edamame!

But seriously, I don't even like sushi that much, but I could tell this was bad.

Tips: check out the bathroom (applies to all restaurants). It's a good indicator of the care they take in keeping their kitchen clean.

    Get here early.

This is always the spot my friends and I choose to go to whenever we're heading up  to tahoe from the bay or vice versa!  It is a great place for unlimited sushi with a good selection.  They have a very cool circular moat with flowing water with boats connected to each other holding the sushi and misc foods they put out.  They will also honor special requests, you have to get in the line on the side.

One drawback, you need to get there early, there were several times where we were actually cut off from service because we simply came during the middle to end of lunch.  They do close the waitlist off, please see the hours.

If it wasn't for the wait, they'd get 5 stars.  I enjoyed it here.

I went here for my friend's birthday and I'd say it's about the same as the one in Elk Grove.  There were a few differences though.  It's a lot smaller.  It had a few different dishes, like I think it was korean bbq meat?  It would've been pretty tasty if the ones that I grabbed weren't cold, but everything was pretty good over all.  My friends were ordering all kinds of tempura, and fried things.  I'm just happy as long as there's some good quality fish, and I was satisfied.  They were really patient with us having to pay too, and they even took our group picture :)  AND OUR GROUP WAS PRETTY BIG.  We took up the entire front area, but hey, we gave them business!  It's worth the money I guess.  If only they had my honey walnut prawns!  Or maybe I just didn't see them... But yeah, all you can eat sushi + semi broke college students = one of the best things you can ever ask for :]

This is the spot for non-discerning sushi fans ....
This is the spot for non-discerning food eaters ... that's the better line.

I gotta give it to Fuij Sushi, they have a variety of options and their staff is accommodating to most requests. I have zero issues with their service and staff but the food ... i can't get passed the food.

All you can eat soft shell crab .. sounds awesome right? Awesome if you like it dripping in oil. It's not even crispy. The texture is equivalent of deep frying soggy cardboard.

If you absolutely must eat here, a few tips for the wise.

    - Ask the people for a plate of salmon sashimi. Surprisingly decent .. in context.
    - DO NOT ask for Albacore tuna .. it's supposed to melt in your mouth, not feel like they puled it out of the freezer.
DO NOT eat here before they close. They like to clean while people are eating. Unless you LOVE the smell of bleach while you eat, avoid.

Anyone with multiple check-ins or a regular, I applaud your iron-clad stomach. You're super human or a goat.

Sushi buffet? How can you say no? Considering how a roll of sushi at other places can range around $10, this place is a pretty good deal. I don't like raw food so I go for everything cooked. You can go to the sushi bar and grab whatever you see in sight, or go up to the chefs and request a dish.
I want to say all the sushi actually taste the same, even though I know I grabbed/ordered different rolls. (But they still taste good though) This is a pretty good place if you like sashimi like my boyfriend, because you can basically order unlimited amount, but sometimes they may not be fresh or it's still a little frozen.

The desserts are not the best, I wouldn't recommend the desserts because I honestly think none of them even taste decent.

Overall, I would come back, simply because the price isn't too bad, and you can easily eat your moneys worth.

I don't expect much when I know I'm walking into a sushi restaurant that serves in buffet style. The purpose of buffet is to fill you up with the cuisine you're craving at a low price. But this was WAY below my expectations.

We ordered a few things off of their menu and grabbed several other dishes off the floating boat. The only thing that tasted moderate was the fried salmon, and that's not something easy to mess up. The so-called specialty rolls were either fried and drizzled with some sweet-and-sour-like sauce, or drizzled with an Asian (Vietnamese I think?) hot sauce that you can buy in supermarkets (I know because I have a bottle at home). On top of that, most of the rolls were stuffed with imitation crab meat. To make matters worse, my friend ordered a plate of red tuna sashimi and it was NOT FRESH AT ALL. The fish had already lost its color and it was DRY. Yuck.

And if this means anything, they were also serving Chinese pastries on the boat. I think this says a lot about the authenticity of this so-called "Japanese sushi restaurant".

Ready for a sushi coma? Ohhh yahhh! This place will do it for sure! The sushi and various items on the boat buffet are pretty fresh. The chefs make the sushi in the middle of the moving boat buffet. There are so many appetizers from edamame, gyoza, fried bananas to teriyaki chicken and BBQ pork or beef. If you want a more elaborate sushi you can request it. Unlike most sushi buffets, Fuji serves a wide variety of sashimi.

When you come here on a busy day expect to have crowds on both sides of the boat buffet and a long line to the bathrooms.

Still worth getting up early on a saturday for.  There will always be a line.  Get there early for a bar spot.  Really top quality sushi, made to order items, everything comes by on boats.  various non sushi items for the less adventurous.  You can ask the chefs for special things like sashimi or a particular roll, and they are always happy to make it for you.  The chicken skewers are also great.  Sometimes they have fresh oysters too.   If you love sushi this is a must to come to at least once.  Well worth the price.  I would go out of my way to come here any time i can.

Discovered this place years ago and decided to return here with the fam bam this past weekend.

Here's what you need to know:
    1) $12.95 for lunch $17.95 for dinner for ALL you can eat sushi!
    2) You can request special orders OR order from the menu OR pick up any of the sushi rolls from the boats!
    3) They have MUCH MUCH more than JUST sushi! like Edamame, tempura, cake/desserts, udon order ANYTHING & EVERYTHING
    4) They have Soft Shell Crab and lots lots lots of it! My new favorite sushi!
    5) Come RIGHT when it opens otherwise you will wait for quite some time and not have enough time to eat!
    6) You will leave satisfied, full, and have food coma

Their sushi rolls are not stingy. They are decent sized portions that you would order at any other restaurant that would probably cost you about $12 per roll. Here you can pig out! I eat uncontrollably here and have to unbutton my pants after because its too tight!

I really wanted to give this place 2 stars.  However, my son LOVES this place.

I was advised to come early as this place gets crowded.  Note to self: check operating hours.  We waited an hour outside for a 5:00 dinner start time.

Due to our large party, we were seated in the regular table section.  Though I would've preferred the seats surrounding the floating sushi boat.

It's awkward ordering on the side for all the "good dishes".  I felt as if I was bothering the staff.  It can also get quite crowded as others are ordering & waiting for their food in the small aisle behind other patrons eating.

Soft shell crab & Sashimi were decent.  Price is very reasonable.

First off, for all you reviewers out there that said Davis is known for their sushi buffets don't know what you're talking about. Now let's clarify, if any restaurant is offering a so called "sushi buffet" then you should never expect much in quality. Hence, why you'll never see a Japanese owned sushi buffet. Next, when you come to a buffet you should always expect quantity over quality and that will never change. Sure, this place may be poppin' day 'n night, but that's because of the prices.

Reading pretty decent reviews, I decided to make a trip here and try it out. I wasn't expecting much and it's good that I didn't. Total trainwreck here! How you order sushi is so unorganized and irritating. I understand you can grab what you want off the sushi boat, but it's so awkward to just squeeze in-between other people sitting at the bar to get what you want. Also, when you order by the side bar, the people here tend to ignore you and if they do end up taking your request they are totally jerks about it!

The sushi and sashimi here were your average sushi buffet quality. I probably would never come here again and I think it's best to steer clear of all sushi buffets in Davis. Man, I thought sushi buffets in the bay area were pretty bad but Davis has got it worse! Avoid this place if you can, unless you're starving to the point where you want to be cheap and hack on a couple of pounds then this is your place!

I enjoyed my dinner here. As a college student, being able to drop $15 and get unlimited food is nearly unfathomable. Coming from the bay area, I am very particular about my sushi... I preferred the sushi at Fuji over Mikuni. It's nice that the buffet offers sashimi, appetizers, desserts, and nigiri as well as normal rolls.

However, it gets very busy and sometimes there are no spots left at the buffet, so you have to sit in a separate table and walk over to pick up your sushi every time you want a new roll.  It gets kind of old walking across the restaurant every five minutes.

Originally, I was going to give this place 3 stars because of its pricing. For around $18, you get to order sashimi by the plate (although it's a very limited selection of sashimi) and whatever else there is on the menu. You can also grab whatever you want from the floating boats. Things took a turn for the worse when I got home... I instantly got a massive stomachahe and you can probably guess the rest. I should have known better when I saw flies landing on some of the sushi plates.

When I first got to Fuji, I was pretty excited about getting to order sashimi by the plate but I was a little disappointed that the salmon was served almost frozen. With that aside, I was still pretty excited  that we could order soft shell crab by the plate. Little did I know, it would be the worst soft shell crab I've ever had in my life... and this includes a failed attempt of trying to make it at home. How can you mess up that badly on soft shell crab?

The service here was pretty good but honestly, but looking bad, my overall experience was pretty horrible. The plates seem to have been out for awhile with no covers over them. There were flies landing all over the food. I felt the urge to yack a couple of times. I am definitely not coming back.

I feel like any type of buffet is just to fill the stomach and not to satisfy the taste buds. That being said, this place does just that. The food really isn't all that great, but the variety and unlimited sashimi make the price worth it. However, I have tried sashimi that were still half frozen here before. My point is, the food isn't the greatest but still a great place to go when you are just starving and can't wait for food.

    What I recommend:

    Seared tuna
    spicy tuna roll

    This place is alright.

I've been here a few times for dinner and only once for lunch. I prefer eating here for dinner because I feel there's more food served at night.

    Lunch - $12.95
    Dinner - $17.95

I'm not sure if they still do this because I don't see it on their sign anymore, but back then (like a year or so ago) the dinner buffet included drink and miso soup.

There are some pretty good sushi served on the boats, but I would recommend to order some food from the menu to get more of a variety. If you're with a big party, the sushi dishes you order from them is big enough for everyone to share.

I've been to Fuji's plenty of times and would've given this place three or four stars because of the variety of food you get and the awesome price.  However, I was absolutely disgusted with what I saw during my last meal there that I had to write this review.  Upon receiving my order from the sushi chef, I saw two baby ROACHES on the bottom of the sushi plate!  I was horrified to think how long this has been going on and how unsanitary this place was.  I will never go back there!

I'm almost never a fan of sushi buffet or sushi boat places, but this one is actually pretty good.  No doubt...you get what you pay for...don't expect the quality of a pricey sushi restaurant here.  However, I must say that the fish is decently fresh and there's quite a wide variety of food available for the buffet.  They're actually quite generous with their dinner sashimi portions, too!  Will definitely come back.

BEWARE: I went to eat with my friends at fuji today and found baby cockroaches roaming at the Bar! My friend and I caught two of the roaches and showed the waitress our discovery.  The waitress was like "Oh" and squished the bugs with her bare fingers and I don't think she washed her hand afterward. She told us the pest control just came by last week, which is questionable since they were running around ALIVE right in front of us. The funny part was when she asked me what I wanted her to do about it.... as if I brought in the cockroaches for a free meal.

The bill came to 45 dollars and they decide to take a "discount" of 15 dollars off our final bill. I have been going here since I have started school at UC Davis and I am not going to be coming back to this place anytime soon. This is really saddening since this was my favorite sushi place to eat in Davis...

I see other comments about new management and agrees totally about the current state of things.

Edit: I must add that the sushi chefs washes their hands frequently! So I don't think they are the problem!

When I was at Davis I loved Fuji's! It was a like a rite of passage going there at 9am on a Saturday just to eat some sushi. What happened? They changed management and did some remodeling of the store.

The quality worsened over the years and a lot of the workers abandoned ship when Davis Sushi opened. Oh and even though they remodeled this place, it's just as dirty as ever.

This is AYCE sushi place ONLY!!  You can eat at the sushi bar area where the boats float around or you can get a table.  The AYCE comes with soup and a soda.  Hot tea, alcohol and etc. are extra.  It also includes Fried Oyster, shrimp & fish at the back kitchen.  They can also grill the fish if you don't want it fried.  If you want a specific sushi roll you can ask for it.  Sashimi is at no additional cost.  The sushi here is good and for the cost it's not bad Lunch-$13.95/Dinner-$17.95...kids (4-11) $1.25/year.  They don't have bus boys that come around and clear your plates as many people stack them up to see how much they ate at the end.

As for the service...it's HORRIBLE!!!  The people who work there seem miserable.  They don't smile and their rude.  If you're 6 and more they automatically charge you 18% gratuity, which in my opinion they do not deserve.

    Not my favorite place.

Fuji's doesn't have the best quality or customer service, but it's good if you want an unlimited sushi fix. Some of the staff can sometimes choose to ignore you when you want to order items. The sushi chefs are more attentive and willing to make you the rolls or whatever else it is that you want.

If you sit at the bar then you have to be prepared for people slipping through you trying to grab food. However, if you sit at the bar, then you have the easiest access to the food, and getting your orders. Lunch time price is about 14 dollars not including a drink. And dinner it about 19 including a drink.

Occasionally when I have gone here I have seen flies around, and the workers trying to kill the flies, which is a bit nasty.

I always enjoy my food at Fuji's!  Most of the time I find that All-You-Can-Eat restaurants provide poor quality food.  But at Fuji's everything is super yummy and very inexpensive.  The last time we went there, there was one member of the staff that was not very pleasant.  In fact, he seemed pretty bothered every time we asked him for something.  Luckily the rest of the staff were friendly and seemed as if they actually enjoyed their job.

This place has been upping their prices since forever. It's worth it if you really eat your money's worth. The trick is to avoid the "garbage" floating in the sushi boats and order the real food. Stuff to order are sashimi, soft shell crab, giant rolls, salmon teriyaki (just to name a few). It's also kind of hard communicating special requests to the chefs because I don't think they understand English that well. But overall, I come here for all-you-can-eat salmon sashimi :)

This place is alright for a sushi buffet. The rolls are pretty good; you can ask the chefs to make them for you if you don't see what you want. They have lots of dishes on the sushi boats to select from. Their appetizers that are going around or that you can order aren't bad. I wasn't a huge fan of the cake/desserts though. They have different small pieces of mousse-like cake and sesame balls going around which was cute, but they tasted pretty bland.

The service is friendly and if you're waiting for something to come out, they'll ask you and bring it to your table. A little slow on waters but overall, ok.

Final Verdict: I'd be back if it was a group thing because it does have a fun environment and $15 isn't bad. Sushi buffets aren't really worth it for me though, since I get full super quickly. One roll is about it for me.

You know, this is a sad review for me. I first ate Fuji's back in 2003 and loved it right away. I've loved the place all the way until today when i said this is enough BS. I should have admitted it about 5 times ago, but I just didn't because of this blinded following. The food has always been excellent, above excellent until recently, about few months ago. It was a place that despite the lines out the door, I would still  line up for an hr to eat while in college. Even after college, whenever I passed by Davis, it was the only place I'll stop at to eat dinner or lunch. It had it's run, I never thought that I would stop liking this place.

There have always been some issues with Fujis, which now contribute even more so to why I don't want to come here, but were previously mitigated by the fact of having awesome food, decently priced, and that it's a sushi buffet! No where else can you find this. The issues before and are still present are that 1) they pack buttloads of rice into rolls 2) the chefs seem like they hate the job and never smile at you (I've observed others and is mostly true) 3) they are stingy when asking for a lot of sashimi. These are the 3 previous issues...which are still current. The 3rd reason, seems to be more and more obvious now though.

One thing that I notice now is that the first plate of sashimi you ask for tastes better than the subsequent ones. This is not a trick of my mind. It is often that the 2nd plate the fish is sometimes partially frozen and doesn't taste as fresh. The frozen thing is also an issue. I can somewhat understand and forgive, but I still don't think it should happen.

Here are the changes from the past to make me not want to come here anymore:
    1) The last 2 times I went, they will not give unagi only, no rice. They used to do this no problem and other places do this no prob. I love unagi and I don't see why they can't serve it. Also, it's not even on the boats anymore, you have to ask for it and they make it for you. Did the price of eel go up significantly recently or something??

    2) They used to to put masago and ikura on things more often. I can still ask for ikura roll, but they look at me like I'm stealing their $. Dude, I'm paying $18 for dinner. Cmon.

    3) Selection. There used to be fresh raw oysters. They had more interesting fried stuff. They had this spicy scallop thing. They had some octopus thing. I'm sure I'm missing a few. But now practically all they have are rolls and rolls and rolls (with a lot of rice might I add). They did add some korean BBQ and cakes and non-jpn stuff.....no comment on that.

    4) Spicy tuna. Ok, I'm not a pro at jpn food, but I think it's supposed to be kinda grounded up and mixed with hot sauce then served. Now it's just cut up small piece of tuna and sprayed with hot sauce. Cmon now, it's just different, don't take short cuts

    5) Saba/mackeral. Wow, amazing....just a POS. How can they even serve this??! It was hard and not edible. It was stale and just tasted like crap, literally. Burnt canned food might have tasted better. Ok, maybe not, but it was no edible and they should know better.

    6) Price. In 2003, lunch was I believe $10. It was not over $11 for sure, now it's $14. Dollar wise, it's affordable. % wise, that's crazy. But if the quality stayed consistent, I would have no problem.

I think that's about it, those above reasons coupled with the recurring service issues make this place a no go.

I will admit though, I will miss their soft shelled crab. This is still the only place that does it the best. Other than this, there isn't anything that I can't get anywhere else.

I salute you Fuji's. You were a great place to go eat and stuff my face full of good food and end the meal with some sweet buttox oranges!

I don't know what I'll replace you with. Maybe Nobu? Davis Sushi Buffet? Elk Grove Fujis? Kome?

Pretty good for unlimited sushi. The price is good and there's a few good sushi rolls to choose from. You can order specialty rolls and hand rolls from the sushi chefs. Dinner includes miso soup and a drink.

To get your money's worth, the best things to order are the deep-fried oysters and soft shell crabs. Their salmon skin hand rolls are good too. Their spicy tuna hand rolls are only spicy because they add siracha sauce to their rice.

Overall, it's an ok place to come to for all-you-can-eat sushi.

The first time I went here was when I first moved to Davis for school. It was alright considering that it was the first "Davis" sushi buffet experience I had. But after eating at Davis Sushi Buffet around the block, I decided that Fuji's was not as good of an experience.

A few months later, I decided to give Fuji's another try, but was turned off FOR GOOD:
The first thing I judge my sushi buffets on is the sashimi. Especially the salmon sashimi because that's all I eat. The first plate I ordered was still half frozen with slushy pieces in the fish.
Isn't salmon sashimi supposed to melt in your mouth instead of slush in your mouth?
I guess the rolls are okay, but the iced water was a little fishy.
The ambience is too dark and sketchy for my taste. I prefer DSB's lighting and service.
