Review from Donna S.
South Miami, FL
For the previous reviewers. 1) The other birds are ibises. 2) I have never seen a streetwalker at US1 and 80th (what an odd place for them to be)--what time of day did you seem them? 3) The park does not have a funny name, it is named for the family that owned and operated the Holsum Bakery in the City of South Miami. 4) Yes there are homeless folks and panhandlers that seem to congregate here--there doesn't seem to be much that can be done about it, legally.

Pretty little park that unfortunately can be a bit of a vagrant hangout at times; it's often the staging ground for the streetwalkers you see working the 80th St/US 1 intersection. Still, parkland it remains, so South Miami residents should be happy to have it in their neighborhood.
It does have decent tree cover, and the pond that is the centerpiece of this park lends it more of a serene feel than it by all rights should have considering it's situated adjacent to a very busy intersection. There's a playground, shelter, and plenty of ducks that will solicit crumbs of whatever you happen to be eating. Cool little park for kids, no doubt.Listed in: The Parks Dept.

I moved to the area and was excited to see a park walking distance from my home. It does have a nice children's play ground but not much else. I love the pond and trees around it but I was really hoping it would have an area to walk or run around the pond easily.

Went here for a bday party this past weekend. The park is nice, clean and lots of space for parking. One side has a lake where you can walk by and see some fishes, ducks and turtles in the water and the other side has the playground and a small shelter. Although it's close to US1, you can't hear the traffic, cars, etc. It works for a small bday party.

While this park has a playground, volleyball court, restrooms, and even a pavilion, it was really the natural area with a pond that caught my attention. The pond is just gorgeous to look at especially underneath the shade of the trees.
I had come to this park by accident, since I had needed to go to the CVS across the street and I definitely didn't expect such a small cute park to be right next to a traffic-clogged US 1.
But I had immediately fell in love with this park, which is always full of ducks and egrets (or whatever they were). I come by here sometimes just to enjoy feeding the ducks from the benches or one of the rocks perched near the pond.Listed in: MIA: Parks

Clean and lots of parking. The playground is good for 4 year olds or older kids. Not good for toddlers.

The park with the funny name. I have such wonderful childhood memories of this park. We used to come here with loaves of bread to feed the ducks. It's a tiny little oasis in South Miami. It's not a big park, and unfortunately Davis Road/80th has become quite congested, it's still a great place to stop and eat your lunch or bring your kids to play and watch the ducks. Great place to make a memory.

Awesome little park...a nice pond with a beautiful fountain. Lots of ducks. Very nice playground area for toddlers and older children. Picnic tables and grills available. Only one shelter for parties at a small rental fee, even cheaper if you are a South Miami resident. The beauty of it is that you will be the only party there. Plenty of parking and nice clean bathrooms. It even has a sand volleyball court. I love this place.
