I will absolutely not go anywhere else to get waxed after coming here. They do the best brazilian waxes because they make you comfy and relaxed because you know they know what they are doing. The wax used is wonderful too, it doesn't stick to your skin like other wax.

This place is totally worth it.

I have not had a chance to experience their other services but I am sure they are awesome as well.

I had the worst Swedish massage at this spa. The masseuse was wearing old Birkenstocks that stunk, so instead of smelling aromatherapy oils I was almost going to vomit  from the smell of her feet! Her technique was horrible and she kept using her elbows rigidly. This was the worst spa experience I've ever had! I read another review below and can't believe the owner of this spa would make such a racist comment to Asians!!! Do not come here.

Truly and Genuinely Blissful, Therapeutic, and Restorative Spa! My absolute favorite beauty treatments the whole Bay Area. ALL of the staff here is professional, friendly, and "attitude free."

I can think of no better place for the most wonderful facials and skin care products. My friends all commented the day after I got my first treatment here that my complexion was GLOWING!!!

Thank You So Much Fruition Day Spa for giving me my West Portal Fountain Of Youth!!!

Where did Veronica go? :(

I'd give more stars, but they never returned my call - when in pain and was clearly a repeat customer and now Veronica is gone.

The minute I walked in, sat down, looked to my right and saw fruit floating in a cold pitcher of water, warm tea, and heaping bowl of Hershey's kisses, I was content waiting and taking in the various aromas of soy candles and body lotion.  The staff is sweet and helpful.  I came in for a Brazilian because, believe it or not, it just makes me feel good.  Granted, the process doesn't make me feel good and I didn't know you could have a pulse in other places of your body, but hey, it's all fine and dandy when it's over.

I saw Maureen and she is amazingly friendly and gentle.  She has a wonderful personality and knows a lot about skincare too.  Her philosophy on beauty is intelligent and shows how she cares.  She wanted me to be comfortable and made me comfortable.  She made me laugh, smile, and it was utterly painless, which is not what I've experienced in the past at another nameless spa.  Overall, I think Fruition is a wonderful place to pamper and rejuvenate and it's right next to my wonderful acupuncturist!  Yay!  Win-win!

My work surprised me a gift certificate for a spa treatment here and I decided to get a 70-minute hydrating facial.  This was my first facial.  Fruition is a cute, small, cozy, and unpretentious spa.  The atmosphere was calm and quiet.  The staff is very friendly.  I can't remember who did my facial but she was really nice, listened to my concerns, and gave me some good tips about facial cleansing.

I love this place. I have been going here for 3 years, and even though I moved across the bridge to the East Bay, this is the only spa I trust for my Brazilian and eyebrow waxes. Ask for Kim, though when she was out for maternity leave I saw Maureen and Sarah, and they were both wonderful too. They make you feel very relaxed and comfortable, which isn't easy when you're getting a bikini wax! The type of wax they use is awesome too; my sensitive skin has never had a negative reaction to the wax, and it's also as painless as a wax can be. Everything is very clean and the staff is professional. It is the perfect quiet and tranquil getaway for a reasonable price, and it is well worth the 30 min drive to come back.

This is the only spot I go to to get waxed.

I feel as though the estheticians are very knowledgable and I've always felt comfortable with them.

I was about to walk in to fruition day spa  I was surprised by a man that came from the spa as I was trying to enter.
I had to change my original posting because owner got upset and emailed me, saying it was bad for business.  Does anyone know a spa that is just for women?
I guess she was upset because I posted my thoughts.
I thought when I seen a man coming from there, that he was getting a massage with a happy ending.  thats what my friend calls it.
I just dont see why men should go to a spa where women go.
I still have not been back to frution day spa since I thought it was just another massage parlor for men.

I've been coming here for about two years now I believe. The first time I saw Maureen, she's very cool and so down to earth. She makes you feel like a friend and chit chat about anything. Two other times I saw Kim, and have since tried to schedule facials with her. I love this place and I love Kim. She's excellent. I had the Hot Stone Massage and Organic Facial recently and it was so relaxing. I haven't seen Kim since she had her baby but I will schedule an appointment with her very soon. Hot tea and iced water at the door with little Luna bars in a bowl to greet you. Something sweet to relax you before you head into an hour of heavenly bliss. If you're looking for a place to get away from your everyday work or life stressing moments.. this is the place to be.

i first went to Fruition because of the location and the ambiance.      These things are consistent.

considering the prices, i would hope for more consistency in the services, as well.  i have had one facial (bad), two massages (great) and multiple waxing services.

unfortunately, every time i find a waxer i like, they are no longer employed there when i try to reschedule.   this has happened to me twice so far.  one waxer i had was visibly afraid of the whole process.  she should not have been accepting waxing clients.  the next time i called, i requested a different waxer and she was great.  alas, this particular great waxer no longer works there.

i will admit that i tend to book my waxing last minute, so they probably stick me with the employees who are newest, have the least experience and therefor don't have a clientelle built up yet.

but if i am going to plop down a hundred bucks and strip to my skivvies to have some stranger pour hot wax on my parts and rip my hair out, there should be a certain level of competency  and consistency that is required.

I love the relaxing and casual atmosphere @ Fruition.  I also love the wonderful products; better yet, they are not pushy about selling them!! This is the 1st spa I have been to where they don't push their products; these speak for themselves.

I took a few of my friends here for a spa day.  We had a nice time, the massages were  good, the environment nice and the location is convenient because of all the public transportation.

Everyone was pleased with their treatments, I liked my aromatherapy massage.  The masseuse didn't talk to much (I hate that) and used the perfect amount of pressure.

The esthetician was great, I had my brows waxed and she didn't make them to thin.

I went here for spaweek since it the closest to my house.  I got the scrub.  I was a little disappointed or maybe I expected more.  I got scrubbed down, then I was told to rinse it off in the shower.  I could've done that myself at home for free.  But their shower was nice & clean.  Maybe I should try to massage next time.  Also, I like how they serve fruits in the waiting area.

I adore Fruition !!   Look no further for your massage (and eyebrow shaping) needs !   The staff is wonderful, the atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing.  I have had the deep-tissue massage, the hot stone massage (wow!!) - and also the occasional eyebrow waxing.  They have fresh fruit in the waiting area, cooling iced water with lemon - and just couldn't be more accommodating.  Quite a gem on the edge of West Portal.

Fruition Day Spa is my little getaway.  Not from my everyday life...from all them other snooty little spa-bitches that get on my last nerve.  Isn't that what we go to spas to escape?  Fruition always finds a way to squeeze me in  at the last minute, and I totally appreciate that. It reminds me of that small-town hospitality I used to get in San Francisco before the dot-commers killed all the personality.

True, it's no Burke-Williams...but I don't have to fight my way out of downtown traffic afterwards, either.  Fruition is small, but they make good with the space they have.  Hey, I'm lying down with my eyes closed, how much space do I need for that?

I have no idea or experience with other yelpers talking about the "weak" massages.  I've had about 5 different masseuses, and they all gave adequate pressure, and asked if I wanted more or less (that's customary).  My personal fave is a Japanese gal (I have a bad memory for names) who intuitively knows how to hit my reset button.  And that's no easy task!  I'm a big girl with big-girl aches & pains.

The meters outside have more than just a few minutes on them, so you can spend HOURS in there.  Neighboring streets offer great unmetered parking, also. A definite plus!

Give yourself another treat, pair Fruition wth a visit next door, Acupuncturist Jane Balmediano!

Whenever I walk in, I feel relaxed. They greet you with drinks and snacks and they have magazines for you to read while you wait. They have relaxing music playing and candles that light up the rooms. Tina was the one that helped me with my facial and she is very friendly. She took the time to ask me questions and analyze my skin.

PROS:
- Clean.
- Atmosphere was calm and quiet.
- Very friendly staff.
- Good pricing compared to many other spas.

CONS:
- Parking in the streets.

I have had numerous traumatic waxing experience at average salons. All that changed for me the day I set foot into Fruition. I was wary at first, but the esthetician I saw, Maureen, was absolutely wonderful. She was very warm and friendly, and made the experience so much more memorable. Not to mention the fact that Fruition uses this top-of-the-line lavender wax that is PAINLESS. Yes, I said it, painless. I was so shocked at how fast and easy it was, and will never go back to a cheap salon ever again! Thank you Fruition!!!!

I would have never even known that this charming spa were here had my friend not told me about it. It's everything I wanted in a spa minus the overpowering froo froo smells and overeager to please staff. The staff here are great. Low key and I'd think perfect for the first time spa encounter. My esthetician Tina M. was awesome. She did a great wax job and was quick to boot. She was pleasant and easy to talk to. Normally I withhold conversation so as not to distract from whatever service they are providing. Plus points for offering a boxed milk drink designed to promote healthy sleep, it was good. Minus a star for parking. So really this place had 5 stars but hovers at a healthy 4.

I first connected to Fruition through Kim who I followed from her located in Noe Valley.  Alas, Kim has reduced her schedule to weekdays only as she is now a mom.  Lucky for me, I have now seen Vita 2x (who is around on weekends when I have time to sneak in a facial) and it has been divine.

I enjoyed a very nice prenatal massage at the Fruition Day Spa in San Francisco's West Portal neighborhood a last year. This small day spa is often very busy and I was lucky to get in on the same day for a one-hour massage. The price was ok. I arrived and was greeted by the receptionist and was offered some herbal tea and a glass of cold water with a cucumber garnish. I opted for the water and found it slightly sweet and very refreshing. After a short wait the massage therapist greeted me, supplied me with a robe and directed me to the massage room. The room was small but a pleasant temperature and the music was soft and relaxing. My massage therapist was very skillful and didn't make too much conversation. I enjoyed my massage so much that the hour slipped by very quickly.

The smell and ambiance of this place is just gorgeous and I immediately felt as though I had picked the right place the first time I walked in - so I thought..

I found "Fruition" from my fellow "yelpers" after a disaster somewhere else near by.
So, after booking in and seeing Jenny a few times for my eyebrow wax and eyelash tint, I was so happy to find a beautician who could actually hold a conversation when I talked to her and someone who knew what she was doing. She's a doll.

I have to say,the last time I was there in Sept, I was very irritated only because I had booked an eyebrow wax and eyelash tint which  I always get unless I tell them .I even had the courtesy to  call  them the afternoon  before to confirm the appointment and to make sure I was getting both of those two things done. "Yes, you're all booked in for both" I was told.
So,imagine how irritated I was, when the receptionist had only written me in for an eyebrow wax. I was just plain annoyed. I'm usually an easy going patron, but I had something important coming up and needed it done. Not only that, I had limited time without my 4 year old to get it done...all moms who have children can hear me when I say, limited time to get things done on your own!
Luckily, I had such a great gal,Jenny, who saved the day and ended up squeezing me in to do my eyelashes (phew) Told you she's a doll!

I liked this place so much, that on my recent trip back to Australia for a vacation, I sent them a postcard!Of course, apart from Jenny thanking me, no one else seemed to remember, but who the heck am I?

So, imagine my horror last week when I went to book an appointment after having gone there 3 times already, feeling as though I was part of the family, and then  they asked me  for my credit card to hold my eyebrow was appointment. I was like "you have got to be kidding!" I had already been a customer and had never been unreliable in terms of not making it to an appointment. They told me it was policy and the lady was suprised it wasn't done earlier. Now, I know of some businesses doing this and I understand, however, I have a problem when I have been there already and had always been a reliable customer. Also, I don't like giving my credit card details out for business to "hold".I avoid it when I can.

I can understand a business wanting a  credit card for holding a hotel room, but for beauty's sake, I'm not asking to buy the building!! All I wanted was  a damn eyebrow wax!!! So, (sniff sniff) goodbye "Fruition" and all the best. Jenny, you are fabulous - all the best to you.

I have already found somewhere else that does an amazing job with my eyebrows and guess what? It's half the price - yipeeeee!!!!! I get to enjoy a latte on my way home, which is great when I'm on such a tight budget right now.

Happy waxing!

**Edited to add: I received an email from the owner of "Fruition" who was a little upset by this posting and whom I will gladly privately reply to via email. She tells me they have reviewed the way they handle customers credit cards,as well as making sure bookings are handled accurately. I really did appreciate her getting in touch with me as most owners couldn't be bothered. I feel somewhat "terrible" for my posting, but I am an honest person and think it is important to bring things to the attention of owners and managers so they know what's going on as sometimes messages do not get passed on. With that being said,I am changing my stars to 3 stars for the comfort of the place and the warmth Jenny has exuded when I've been there as well as her professionalism.Whether I'll go back there or not remains to be seen, but thank you to the owner for writing to me.

It's a cute spa.  I'm not into spas where you have to shower and all that so i don't care that this place didn't have one.  I had a fab deep tissue massage. It's clean and staff is friendly.  It's easy to find a parking spot too.  Just bring a good amount of coins for the meter.

Unless you like weak pressure, this place SUCKS for massages!!!!
I do not recommend any spa lovers to come here.

The look and feel of the place when you step in is nice, but when you get on the massage table, it's like their just rubbing oil on you. I even told the masseuse to go stronger, and she kind of did, but i said stronger than that, and she barely did again.

I don't even know why they call themselves "certified massage therapists".  There was NOTHING "therapeutic" about the massage. And shame on whoever certified these ladies!

I would've given just one star, but they get can extra star only for the ambiance/look of the place.

I love this place -- I actually followed my favorite esthetician, Kim, to Fruition from another spa (without hesitation since she's AMAZING!)... and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it! Fruition is calm and serene and the facials are unbelievably relaxing. The wax is soft and gentle and the most painless I've ever experienced. The receptionists are always super friendly and the sunny waiting room offers refreshing cucumber flavored water and Luna bars for a snack. It's small enough to feel extremely attended to, but professional enough that it's very comfortable and clean. I would recommend this day to spa to anyone who's looking for a relaxing afternoon of treatments.

Came here for spaweek. I got a massage while my friend got the coconut sugar scrub. Its small and quaint, so you come for your treatment and leave... no lounging around and sipping cucumber water like Burke Williams. However, its definitely a deal during spaweek.

My massage was absolute bliss. At some point I almost fell asleep. When I walked out and my friend asked how my massage was, I was so spaced out that I ignored her.. yes, it was THAT good.

This 2 stars isn't representative of the spa itself, but of the massage I got.   I was taking advantage of a Spa Week promotion for a 45 minute massage for $50.  The masseuse didn't really seem into it.  Perhaps it was because I was the last appointment of the day, but regardless, it felt like she was just going through the motions.
Would I come back here?  Not likely.
On the plus side, there were plenty of magazines for me to read while I waited for the previous person to finish.

Got a gift certificate from a friend to go here and I have been back several times. It is always such a fantastic experience. In general, I am not a huge fan of the "spa" experience...too stuffy or something. That is what is so great about Fruition, the people are SO nice and it just feels so much more inviting, cozy and unpretentious. It is in West Portal which has easy parking and suits the laid back atmosphere of the spa. What a great place...don't change a thing!

My experience at this spa was awful. I got the scrub plus sunless tan treatment. Aside from the scrub being a little gross because you have to lie on the scrub granules when you flip over on the massage table (unlike other spas that do this type of treatment) I was most put off by the clinician who turned on the fancy shower for me but never told me how to turn it off. After I was done washing off, I couldn't turn off the shower and she was nowhere to be found. In fact, she took forever to come back and check on me which of course cut into the time I was paying good money for. Also, the sunless tan treatment was a disaster. They simply apply sunless tanning lotion on you while you lie on a massage table. This of course creates a great opportunity to lie in sunless tanner lotion and develop spots. Little did I know until I was about to leave that I came out looking like a cheetah. When I pointed out that I was full of spots they gave me a little scrubby type sponge and offered to let me come back the next day and do their airbrush tanning to fix my tan. Unfortunately for me I had an important event to go to the next day and had no time to go back. In all, this was a terrible experience and not remotely worth the money.

UPDATE: The owner contacted me to apologize for what happened and offered to make it up to me. Although I still think my experience was unpleasant, at least the owner seems to care about making customers happy.

Came here yesterday for a spa day w/ a girl friend.  We both had a facial and massage.  I loved loved loved my massage.  I came out of there feeling so relaxed.  My facial was okay.  I've had better, but not bad.  Very easy to find parking and the prices are pretty reasonable.

As a spa junkie, I wanted to try out Fruition since it was one of the top ten spa of Citysearch. I had a Fruition Signature Facial. I heard fancy words like "rose cleanser" and "organic products". My facialist and everyone I came in contact with were extremely friendly. I think thats why a lot of people liked this place, it's not a snooty uptown spa. Its a tiny, cute little spa... but nothing special to come back to. Why don't I give this place the same props as everyone else who is in love with it? I know other places that can give a similar facial, at half the price. Many places, actually, can give you a facial like this.. because its very basic. In fact, other places offer things like a special mask, extractions, oxygen, etc.. that this facial was lacking. If I'm going to pay the price similar to an uptown spa, I expect uptown spa quality. And thats what this place was missing..

The front desk was a total basket case when I arrived, appoligizing way too many times which made me uncomfortable after I had already said "DONT BE SORRY" for some staff trainning. No complaints other than that, it's something you really have to experience as an educated consumer. Visit the website first, then decide. Well the website doesn't show the shower for some reason. It's a secret but don't tell anyone though.

This day spa calms your soul the minute you walk in the doors. My friend and I got massages here, and we both came out glowing, happy ending style. Alas, this place is much too classy for a happy ending, yet we couldn't stop talking about our massages for the rest of the day. The prices are fairly decent, too. I have to recommend Tamara for somehow knowing just where I needed some good rubbing the most. I plan to go back to try a facial, body treatment or deluxe mani/pedi  (apparently you get to lie down while they pamper your hands and feet!).

This place is sweet. Its small for sure. I have tanned here, gotten facials and massages. The one thing I keep doing is getting the peel, which always gives me a rash, then I forget and get it again. Personally, I don't want to disrobe and lye down for a pedicure. The woman who gave it to me was perfectly nice, but when I am lying down at a spa, I want to relax. Not have someone filing and what not. When I am in a chair I know when to expect the cutical tools etc... The place is clean and the services good. I had a facial by Tina and she is quite good.

I'd give this place 3.5 stars.  The staff were friendly, and the massage was decent.  However i did not like how I could hear the faucet being turned on and off in a room near by during my session.  My masseuse has kinda small hands/fingers, weirded me out by bit with that, but not to say she doesnt know how to use them, she does.  but still....very small hands....0_o

I had the rose mud wrap and it was heavenly.  I will be trying the coconut scrub next time.  The staff is lovely and very professional.

Thanks to fellow Yelpers, I decided to go to Fruition for my first spa experience! I had the perfect combination - the classic facial and the swedish/deep issue massage. The spa is small and quaint. All the employees are really nice and friendly. The lobby is nice - they have a variety of magazines, tea and water. The music throughout the spa is super relaxing. Candles are in every room and the place just smells really good. Tina did my facial and she was super nice and helped me with my skin and recommended a great light lotion. I wasn't as impressed with my massage gal - she didn't say much and I felt like she didn't really want to be there.

Overall great experience, I am definitely going to go back but try someone else for a massage.

If you're not swimming in the big bucks, but want a nice place to lay your body and get pampered this is the perfect place to do so.  Away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, Fruition has it's sensibilities about it.  It understand that it is what it is, a sweet little charming spot hidden within the quiet and calm area West Portal.  It doesn't try to be anything more than what it is; quaint.  The rooms are nicely outfitted with candles and relaxing music.  The staff is courteous and friendly (well, except that one girl - but perhaps she was having a bad day) and they have many options to choose from for facials, massages, waxes, etc.  If you're on a budget, but want...nay, need to get pampered and you're not overly consumed with seeking five-star design, accomodations, service and price, then Fruition is a good spot for you.  They often send out coupons and email offers as well.
