Very good burgers at a reasonable price. The pulled pork sandwich is especially good.

Big menu.. CHEAP.. old school drive through. Port Angeles location has lines out the driveway. Friendly folks at the window. Burgers aren't large but good enough size for me. I haven't had the milk shake yet. Add the grilled onions to your burger!

I think this is going to be the local "Dubs." See reviews from Sandpoint, ID. Basically, a real simple burger joint. And the name is pretty accurate - the combos are cheap, even after you add a milkshake for an insane twenty cents. I didn't really check, but I don't think they have the milkshake variety of the Dubs, so no butterscotch malts in my future, but the burgers are good. Nice flavor, good toppings. Fries are crisp and well salted, no complaints - and they even have fry sauce for a quarter.
It does looks to be drive through only, so I'll have to hold up the drive through line the next time I go back and ask about expanded milkshake options. I know I'll be back for a quick burger now and again. I'd rather patronize a place like this than a super chain any day.
And, as I read reviews in the sidelines here, where people pine for the In-N-Out burger...man - that place. It's fine, but it's not freaking Burger Xanadu either. Get over yourselves. -

Frugal's may not be the best burger in town, but it is the fastest because it is drive through only, and the cheapest and much better than any chain. When the fries are fresh they are good, so ask them for fresh cooked fries.
I've seen where others have dogged it for their home town favorites, and I can say that my friend bragged up her the California (chain) favorite and I can honestly say that I'd rather have a Frugal burger than that ever again.
You drive through, down down a few blocks and eat at Hayne's park overlooking the water.
It's fast food, not gourmet, and for that reason, it's great! So if you don't want a chain burger, try driving through Frugal's. -

I'd heard great things about Frugals and judging from the long lines in the drive-thru it seems that I wasn't the only one. So it was worth an evening stop for dinner to check out the burgers that created the sensation.
First, Frugals is a drive-thru only fast food place; the design looks like a mobile metal truck that has been slightly expanded, wheels removed and plopped on the side of Hwy 101. There are drive-thru lanes on each side and the back-up spilled into the highway. With this promising start, I ordered the burger of the month (Bleu Cheese Burger), fries and a chocolate shake.
The burger was actually a bit disappointing. Not that it's a terrible burger, but it certainly doesn't fall into the amazing category. I'd call it pretty average: in the fast food category, I'd say Wendy's is better. I liked the Bleu Cheese topping, but the meat portion was pretty flavorless. Grading on the fast food scale, it's probably similar to a McDonalds cheeseburger. The fries were also pretty average.
The high point of the meal was actually the shake. It's flavorful and thick: the type that's so sinful it feels like you're drinking dessert.
So........it's a basic fast food meal, but go here for the shakes. -

A real deal for your money and when one is really hungry. AND any place that offers tartar sauce for dipping my fries has a special place in my stomach. The cheeseburger was nothing spectacular, but for fast food it was pretty damn satisfying along with the fries and a strawberry shake.

The cheap burgers and fries bestilled my Scottish heart - cheap prices, friendly service, and plenty of artery filling flavor.

My Dad lives in WA and when we visit he raves and raves about Frugals. Made me a fan! A delicious burger coupled with a blackberry shake?!?!? WHAAAAT?!!! Dayum we don't have that kind of stuff in Cali! (We do have In-N-Out but I can't compare that to anything).
The fries are delicious -

I had a Frugal burger recently in Auburn, Wa. It had been years since I had eaten one. All I can say is WOW!. It was delicious!
It was freshly cooked. I had fries also and they were very crispy and tasty.
The place is not too far to go to have a great burger. I was full too after eating the quarter pounder 1 patty. The price was cheap to me for what you got.
I recommend this to anyone wanting a very tasty burger. Wish there was a place in Kent. -

Important: It's only a drive through. At least last time I was there, there isn't even an option to walk up and order. This isn't a problem, however; if you drive down the street a few minutes there's a good lookout on your right where you can park and eat in your car with a beautiful view of Ediz Hook. If you look to your left and right, you will notice everyone eating Frugal's too!
Great burgers and fries, a Port Angeles institution. The fries are tasty and well balanced between crispness and softness. They're not overcooked and bready, but they're also not soft and mushy.
The burgers are a perfect size (for a 20 year old male anyway), they're 1/3 pound beef patties I believe, and have nice medium-thick buns. Simple, fresh, and great tasting.
They generally have a milkshake flavor of the month, if it's marionberry or huckleberry, order it without hesitation, it's great.
I cant recommend this place enough, and you cant miss it, it's a shiny chrome shack with cars lined up to the street. -

The burgers were nearly cardboard! But their pulled BBQ Pork sandwich is AWESOME. And the Halibut Burger was alright also. The shakes are good but the fries are so-so. So I guess for PA where appreciation for food seems substandard in comparison to my taste it would easily rank as an A-OK place. But I've had better outside the town.
Plus it's a drive-thru place, with nowhere to eat. Nowhere to park either and I'm not sure if you are allowed to even walk up and order. -

You're doing something extremely wrong in fast food if McDonald's can do better than you.
Frugals, where many decent mom and pop places have failed, actually makes the Golden Arches palatable.
Fries. I'll start off with fries.
Room temperature shoestrings. I guess this drive thru is so 'frugal' they can't afford heat lamps or they make the mistake of cooking too many fries for actual demand and they end up letting them stand beyond their shelf life. So, if almost-cool fries float your boat, go to Frugals.
My companion had the 1/4 lb. bacon cheeseburger. Her verdict is that the burger is nothing to write home about and she tossed away half of it because it wasn't worth finishing.
I made the mistake of trying the pulled BBQ pork sandwich. Shredded, mushy pork shavings that was served barely warm, and I DO mean barely warm on a tasteless and unremarkable bun that reminded me of the deep and gratifying flavor of Wonder Bread (yes, that was sarcasm). The so-called BBQ sauce was as smoky and delicious as plain ol' ordinary out of the bottle Heinz ketchup.
I don't know, maybe if you grew up in an area where only Burger King and Mc D's was available, you might find the crap they are serving at Frugals as 'good', but if you've ever had something along the lines of In n' Out burger or Red Mill, you realize that Frugals nowhere near meets the mark of even making a decent burger. I will never eat there again. -

Good cheap food, but the sign said GRILLED fish sandwich and we got a breaded fried fish patty. Good fries, though, and we customized a grilled cheese with sauteed mushrooms which ended up quite tasty.

Cheap and tasty. Fries are extra salty, and taste best dunked in their special fry sauce (a tangy mayo).

We love Frugals. It's not a supreme burger joint but it offers an experience that is unique. Quick combo orders are reasonably priced. We love Frugals and it's tradition for me to pull into PA and go straight there. It's not the best burger in the world, but its a symbol of being in the area and we are always excited to visit. They even hook up a piece of bacon for my dog Baker, so hes a fan too.

There is a reason the line to order is always blocking the nearby car dealership. This has been a local favorite since the day it opened. There are other Frugals stands around, but none like the original. It's more substantial that most fast food and always hits the spot.
It is nice to take your meal to EDIZ Hook, but I prefer Haynes overlook just down the road...beautiful views of the harbor! -

I love Frugals! I go out to Lake Crescent every summer and as I'm driving through Port Angeles, I make sure to grab a burger and go sit by the water and enjoy my delicious burger, fries and a delicious chocolate milkshake. The burgers are messy and ugly and delicious and a lot of times they don't make it perfect if you get too picky with the fixin's, but no matter what, it's always good. The line is almost always slow, but it's worth it.
I could see how people could get down on Frugals, but it definitely fills the In-n-Out void in my stomach just fine. -

Stopped at Frugal's on our way through Port Angeles the other day. So nice to have another options besides nasty corporate fast food. The burgers and shake were delicious, french fries were adequate but not great, but hey, I was just happy to avoid MacDonald's. I always like supporting a locally owned joint when I can. And it was cheap and fast. They'd get a fifth star if the fries were better, but we ate them all up anyways.

Great burger joint and lots of other sandwiches too: pulled BBQ pork, halibut, gardenburger, etc. Milkshakes are good too.

If you ever find yourself in the Pacific Northwest such as Sequim or Port Angeles Washington State, this is for sure the place to go. However this is a place you drive up to and give your order to and pick it up, all while you are still in your car or truck. If you don't mind that, you can drive down to Eddy's Hook (right by the ocean) and chow down because these burgers are YUMMY and also the fries. If you get that you might as well as clog your arteries with their chocolate shakes. They are seriously to die for. I need to go back soon so I can go there.

Had Frugals for lunch today..... NOT a burger fan, but this is one of two places that I trust for burgers. Very good 1/4 lb bacon cheeseburger.....had to add the grilled onions which made it wonderful. Not a huge fan of their fries (but fries aren't my thing anyways). I probably would have given Frugals 5 stars if I had never experienced a Five Guys burger.

I don't know why this place is so popular with locals. The burgers arn't that great. The service is.. as fast as they can go given that they can only do two orders at a time. I've seen cars lined up 10 long and overflowing onto the street. The milkshakes are all they have going for them I suppose.

Bellevue, WA
the BLT's were not bad but the halibut sandwich that I was hoping was decent turned out to be worse than a McDonalds filet. we saw many cars driving up to this drive through fast food joint so we thought it may be worth it. for the BLT? perhaps but not for the halibut sandwich...again though Port Angeles is near the ocean, there wasn't much to say about the seafood there.

I just went there with my girlie and we both loved it.
It's a drive-through burger joint, so set your expectations accordingly... and then a good bit higher.
They prepare your food to order from fresh ingredients. The basic burger for $1.69 was good, made great by the addition of grilled onions and fresh tomatoes for 55c each. Fries are fresh and crunchy. And the orange creamsicle shake was top notch. On top of that, service was friendly, funny and fast.
The two of us were well fed and very happy for $9.60.
It is drive through and take out only, so prepare for that. -

Good burgers at a reasonable price. I have nothing bad to say about Frugals. Yes, it's a drive-in folks. Dual drive thrus... when both lanes are open please, use them to prevent traffic from backing up.
