Very good place for frozen yogurt.  The best place that I know of in Santa Clara.  I love how you can add what toppings you want and can mix-and-match the different flavors as you see fit.  They'll even offer samples of flavors if you ask.

The only thing that I could see to be improved with this place is that they never put the chocolate and the vanilla in the same machine for those that like them swirled (Like I do).

The froyo here is pretty good. I'm a fan of original tart so I generally stick to that but I've sampled a lot of the other flavors that rotate in and out and for the most part, everything is tasty. The thing I love about it here is that you can decide how little or how much froyo you want. You pay by the ounce so if you feel like just a tad of yogurt, you can have that too. Also there is a HUGE toppings bar - everything from crushed oreos and kit kat to sliced strawberries and mangos. YUM. You can surely have your pick of toppings here.

Also, buy 8 (or is it 10) and get one free with a stamp card! Not bad if you frequent this place often!

It tasted just fine; nothing special. I had the plain tart and blueberry. The plain was fine but actually the blueberry was disgusting now that I think about it. My fault for not asking for a taste first. The girl seemed perfectly willing to give me my first taste of the coffee, which was also fine. I liked that they had many toppings to choose from, including hot caramel and hot chocolate. However, that did not come through well with my plain or blueberry mix. I prefer coconut yogurt with that but they did not have it. Their blueberries were quite fresh but the strawberries looked yucky so I did not eat them. I ate some of my "treat" but it wasn't pleasant, just blah. Threw the rest away. Maybe I wasn't in the mood for yogurt...

ORIGINAL TART.  They are nice about letting you have sample cups/spoons, just ask, or they will ask you... their seating area isn't huge but it's adequate.  Wow, I miss Frozos too, even though I'm not a giant yogurt fan... depends who I hang out with, and lately, people don't talk about yogurt...

Yes, this self serve froyo place claims they have over 50 toppings, and I'm sure it's true.  Impressive, but I am left wondering how they keep everything fresh.  I thought the blueberry froyo tasted funny, the chocolate tasted more like the chocolate soft serve found at Hometown Buffet, and the original tart was way sour.  And I was disappointed on the consistency...they all started melting once they touched my cup! It was way too melty for my liking.  I added mochi, lots of mochi.  It wasn't as fresh as the ones at Pinkberry, but it was okay.  I also added fresh blueberries which was surprisingly, quite fresh! It costs 39 cents an oz and I was able to get more froyo compared to what it would cost me at Pinkberry, but the quality doesn't come close.  After finishing some of my froyo, I was left unsatisfied and just wished I could have went to Pinkberry or Yogurtland in the first place.

And I really, really don't like the staff staring at me when I'm getting froyo.

This is my go-to spot for do it up yourself froyo. Pricey but delicious, which is probably best for my waist-line as it keeps me from overloading :P

They've got a delectable array of flavors (maybe 8 available per day which they switch up depending on the day of the week), tons of toppings, the fresh fruit is always fresh, the hot fudge hot, and the whipped cream cold.

Super cute frozen yogurt place that was here years ago before the frozen yogurt craze took over our pop culture.

The tart is my favorite, but the texture and flavor of the yogurt here is not as smooth as other places'. Pretty good, though.

They don't have as many toppings as other places and the prices have changed to be more expensive, but it's still a good place for yogurt.

I used to be a huge fan of Frozos. They had the BEST plain tart yogurt, an option for creamy plain yogurt, a HUGE selection of toppings, stamp cards, friendly workers, AND were open late!

(It makes me sad to write this, but it seems now that not only is the quality going down, the toppings selection getting smaller and the price going up, it seems they changed their hours as well.)

I can't stand when I fall in love with a business for its fantastic products, and then the quality of products begins to noticeably get worse and stays bad.  Call it an off day but after two disappointing visits and I'll most likely never be back, especially for something as ubiquitous and yogurt nowadays. Sorry Frozos :(

Frozo's is one of the best frozen yogurt place in town. The original tart was very good, thick and creamy. (awesome)!

The store was clean, the toppings were diverse from cereal, nuts, chocolate's, gummie bears and fresh fruit.

The owner also was very nice and turn me on to green tea powder that I could sprinkle on top for flavor. (I had a craving for green tea yogurt and that was the compromise, it worked).
Frozo's deserve a total of 3.5 stars for the accommodation.

I hear they also have very good shaved ice.

    I will be back!!!

You can't really go wrong with frozen yogurt.

This place didn't seem to have as much flavor selection as most, but they did have a great nut-free pistachio, and the topping selection was wide and delicious.

Plus, we came in 5 minutes before closing, and the staff was still very cool.

Haven't been back here since they first opened.  Quality is still delicious and creamy.  Price is at .39cents and ounce not bad for the excellent quality!  There are quite a lof of toppings to choose from!!! YUM!  Just wished they had more of the bobba and jelly toppings!!

They also now have pearl milk tea for just $2.50!!! YOU CAN"T BEAT THAT PRICE...I soo believe pearl drinks should not be more than this!! I am against those stupid $3.50 prices!!! That's just absurd!!! So I will definitely be back for the pearl tea drinks! :)

I love frozen yogurt and live about 2 minutes walking distance from this place but I hardly ever go. The frozen yogurt is pretty good but not great. If it were just up to the quality of frozen yogurt I would probably rate this place a 2 starts. The consistency is never amazing, the fruit flavors often taste fabricated and the selection is not great for a serve yourself establishment.

Where this place does excel, however, is with the selection of toppings. Most anything you could imagine wanting to put on your frozen yogurt is available. From captain crunch, to pieces of cake, to crumbled butterfinger, to lychee. The only problem is that the best toppings are pretty heavy so that drives up the price.

All in all if you happen to be close by and don't feel like driving anywhere Frozo's will get the job done. But if you have a car I say go somewhere else. I'd suggest Yumi Yogurt, its on the corner of Saratoga and Stevens Creek and about 10 minutes away.

Yay, my first review! Frozo's is my go-to spot for frozen yogurt. I have been to quite a few froyo places (yogurtland, pinkberry, yumi yogurt, randoms whose name i can't remember, etc.) and Frozo's tops them all. (Yes Pinkberry is good too, but its my second favorite, and you'll see why.)

Frozo's is topping heaven! They literally have every topping you could ever want. Cereals, hot fudge, marshmallow sauce, basic candies, seasonal candies, fresh fruit, canned fruit, all types of sauces, and even more. I have yet to see another frozen yogurt shop that has half as many toppings available as Frozo's does.

Aside from toppings, Frozo's has about 8 different flavors of froyo offered everyday; they rotate about 5 of them (maybe 6?) daily. This is great because you can come in often and still have variety, which is difficult to find at other froyo shops. Basically this is frozen yogurt heaven and you should definitely go.

Who doesn't love frozen yogurt? It's hard to go wrong when you are mixing your favorite flavor of frozen yogurt with an assortment of about 100 different choices of toppings. So why 3 stars? Here's why...

You pay based on weight and serve yourself. The yogurt itself is less than impressive. When a place defines itself on the toppings they offer you pretty much figure the froyo itself is going to be forgettable, and it is. They normally only have four flavors to chose from and rarely is there any flavors that look interesting enough to divert from your go-to.

The toppings are great. If you can think of the topping, they have it. I personally like to keep it simple and go with the cookie dough, reese's cups,  and some fresh fruit. If you want to drown your froyo in chocolate syrup, caramel, etc. they have plenty of choices to satisfy your cravings.

I'm not someone who expects outstanding service at a frozen yogurt place, but every time I come here I feel like I'm intruding ... so I normally get it to go to avoid feeling like a felon while I'm trying to enjoy my bowl of sugar.

It's a convenient place to come grab some late night froyo because the parking lot is huge and Frozo's is rarely busy. They do a frequent customer card here, so if you are addicted to froyo you will earn yourself plenty of freebees.

FYI, The hours listed on the yelp page aren't accurate for the winter months, I went last week and they closed at 10 pm.

The flavors are limited, but they are very good. I don't really like tart for-yo so I appreciate it when businesses have sweet fro-yo. The flavors are not at all unique, but they are solid. My fave is the strawberry. As for the topping, HOLD CRAP--hey have a huge selection! It reminds me of the ice cream bar at Cold Stone's. The only thing I didn't like was the limited selection on fresh fruits.

I got a groupon for $6 worth of Frozo for half off.

I got a medium cup of strawberry, mint, and raspberry frozen yogurt topped with mini nilla wafers, waffle pieces, logan, pound cake and chocolate chip cookies.  I think the mint was a bad idea.  In and of itself, it had a metallic aftertaste.  Add to that the mix of toppings I chose...it was a regretter.  Besides the mint, it was pretty good.  The strawberry was sweet and the raspberry was tart.  It was a good mix of sweet and sour.

    Pros:
    Clean bathrooms
    Free wifi
    Polite service
Large selection of flavors and toppings

    Cons:
Didn't care much for the mint frozen yogurt
The parking lot is a cluster F.  There aren't even lines painted.

I regularly feel spoiled by groupon.  I don't think it was worth the full price of $6, but at half off, it was a deal.

Frozo's Frozen Yoghurt is a nice froyo place in Santa Clara.  The place itself is very clean and spacious- pretty nice for a hangout spot on a hot summer day.

When I tried Frozo's, I was disappointed with their selection of frozen yogurt and fruit.  They had a small selection of frozen yogurt, probably around six choices total. Their fruit selection as also lacking and I did not see any pomegranate, kiwi, strawberry, or blueberry.  I think they only had one or two fruit choices.

I decided to get cake batter and chocolate frozen yogurt with cheesecake bites, coconut, animal crackers, mochi, jelly, and yogurt chips.  The taste of the frozen yogurt wasn't anything too special.  I've had a lot better.

Despite the disappointing selection, I do have to give Frozo's props for their huge selection of dry toppings.  They have tons to choose from!  I've never seen animal crackers as a topping before! :)  Oh and they also have hot fudge and hot caramel as toppings too!

Overall, I feel that Frozo's lacks selection in their fruit and frozen yogurt choices.  If they improved on that, they would be excellent.  3.5 stars.

Frozo's?  More like Bozo's!  This place is Strange.  It is far from the cutesy decor you'd typically find in a frozen yogurt shop (think Tuttimelon or Pinkberry).  Rather, expect to find a large space with just a few tables and dim office-lighting..

They have about 8 flavors (coconut, blueberry, chocolate, vanilla, very strawberry, original tart, pistachio...).  The original tart was icy, and lacked creaminess and sweetness.  They do have a plethora of topping (all sorts of cereal, nilla wafers!, organic animal crackers, etc!) but the fruit didn't look very fresh...

Prices are pretty low ($0.39 per ounce) but the quality of the yogurt just isn't that good.  Instead of Frozo's, I'd recommend Blush, Tuttimelon or Pinkberry!

    Are you Yelpers serious?

Frozo's seems like it's ready to retire.  It's in DEFINITE need of a face lift.  I guess I'm just very superficial and like a yogurt place to look CLEAN and poppin w/ teens....

The yogurt was decent I guess, and there were plenty of toppings and all looked neat and tidy...but there was also ONE customer.

I'd rather go to a yogurt shop that has some asian KID working there not an old lady who looks like she's silently cursing you out for not loading up your ice cream w/ their 100's of toppings hoping to make more moolla...

It's kind of depressing to go in there...feel bad for my review...but that's just my opinion.

    Man I'm horrible...

It's my sister's fave frozen yogurt place, so we usually go here, but lately it's taken on the smell of industrial cleaning agents, and the smell is so noxious I sometimes don't want to get anything.

Their selection of toppings is second to none, but their selection of yogurts could use some variety. Also! When will they bring back the root beer flavor?!

My first froyo review... here goes.

    --------
Food: Out of four possible stars: two stars.

I'll take my overly methodical method of star allocation a step further by dividing up the four stars between the froyo and the toppings. Two stars for the toppings, zero for the froyo.

There are plenty of toppings for sure, and my favorites (coconut shavings, pineapple and peanut butter crunch) were in abundance.

However, what is the point of froyo if the froyo is not up for the challenge? I've come to expect froyo to be light, and Frozo's froyo was anything but. Also, the variety of flavors... let's just say there is none.

    --------
Miscellaneous: Out of one possible star: one star.

Frozo's is clean and quiet (i.e.: no annoying teenagers), which is always a plus. The cashier was nice enough to let me buy just one drink from the fridge once when I stopped by for a beverage while doing my laundry next door.

There was a point where I frequented Frozo's at least 3-4 times a week. Now I rarely go because I live so far away but Frozo's is awesome! Before Frozo's all I really tasted of frozen yogurt was from TCBY.

Frozo's is great because they always change their flavor options out. Sometimes they will have two types of original: icy and creamy and some fruity flavors. Around the holidays they always have something to match the season. The topping bar has at least 20-25 different types of topping to choose from. I can't imagine being a kid and going here - it's like walking into Willy Wonka. You can top your favorite yogurt off with anything! Gummy bears (eek), Animal Crackers, sprinkles, rasinetts - I could go on forever.

I can't understand why anyone would say this place doesn't have enough toppings. If anything, they have too many toppings and not enough yogurt! I've been a couple times but they didn't have any yogurts I wanted so I've gotten the shaved ice both times. Really good. I love shaved ice and it's hard to find anywhere outside of amusement parks. Really smooth and fluffy and just enough syrup. I'll definitely be back to try the yogurt sometime!

    Here's the pros:

    Close to work... woot woot!
Basic selections (good for me since I'm a plain jane w/ fro yo)
    Lots of flavors
    Takes credit cards
    Delicious hot fudge

    Cons:

    Yucky fake cookie dough!!!!!

Seriously people, is it so difficult to get something that at least resembles cookie dough instead of freaking play dough?

Frozen yogurt is pretty good. Not as rich as Yogurt Delight. I'm def. a fan that they take cards, don't have a minimum credit card purchase, and they also have saweet stamp cards. I love stamp cards, it makes me feel like I'm achieving something in my life... possibly diabetes or obesity.

Wow, frozen yogurt has changed! When I last enjoyed frozen yogurt, nobody called it "froyo" and you didn't get to dole out your own toppings. I LOVE the way frozen yogurt has evolved over the years. Frozo's is my first foray into the new world of froyo and I've gotta say it's a great starting point.

So you pick your various flavors - chocolate, vanilla or whatever the various tart flavors of the day might be. Next, you move onto the very long and extensive selection of candy, hot fudge, gummies, sprinkles, nuts, cereal, fruits, etc, etc.

I like that somebody figured out that you can just add your own toppings and they just charge you by weighing the whole thing. Really, I had forgotten all about frozen yogurt all these years, but if this is what it's all about now, I'm definitely back on board.

  • Review from Jaye C.

Oh maaah gawd Becky look at that cup. It is sooooo big!! I found a new place to hit up this summer and it's this nice piece of heaven on Lafayette.

    So here's a quick rundown on the 1's, 2's and 3's, and 4's and 5's:

    1. choose a cup (remember, the bigger, the more expensive it becomes!)
    2. choose the frozen yogurt (you're allowed to mix it up)
    3. put as much toppings as your cup can handle
    4. pay!!!!
    (5. boot up your laptop and rave about it on http://yelp.com)

You get to choose from regular, large,  to ginormous! The ginormous size is kinda like the to-go bowl for pho, so that's pretty big. The base price $0.39 an ounce, I paid ~$5.50 for mine.

Okay so first lesson I learned here is don't put 90% fro-yo in the cup or you won't have room for the toppings. Out of the 8 flavors, I really liked boysenberry, original tart, and french vanilla the most. The belgian chocolate is pretty mind blowing, but the raspberry tasted like.. hmm I don' t know.. paper?

Only 4 of these flavors are a constant (chocolate, vanilla, plain tart and original tart) and the other four are usually the flavors of the day/week so definitely sample it if you're feeling adventurous.

Lots of toppings to choose from! There's syrup, cereals, granola, sprinkles, coconut, chocolate chips, brownies, cookies, gummi bears, m&m's, nerds, chocolate covered raisins, marshmallow, fresh fruit (peaches, lychee, rasp/blue/black/strawberries, mango, kiwi etc), and tons more.

I have to get better at this fro-yo mixing thing coz I totally suck :(

Someone should do the math and figure out how many different combinations there are! I am seriously in love with this place!

There's also free wi-fi here. Me and my bf should've brought our laptops so we can yelp this place as we enjoyed the fro-yo on the spot. I'll probably be back here today with my little cousins AND this time my Macbook will be present.

Special thanks to Lolia S. for schooling my n00b ass on this fro-yo biz.

Some like it icy... Some like it creamy. Me, I like BOTH the icy and creamy tart at Frozo.

While we now have lots of tart froyos to choose from (Yogurtland, Tartini, Willow Glen, Gelayo, etc...gosh, how do you keep track?!), I really like Frozo's ORIGINAL tart flavor because it's sweeter and more satisfying. See, I like my tart to be slightly icy and slightly creamy, and it must be reasonably sweet so I don't necessarily have to add toppings to add flavors.

Everything else (fat-free, non-tart froyo) is mediocre. Fruit toppings aren't as fresh as I'd like them to be...though the mochi balls are soft and chewy.

I'm not too crazy about the ambiance. It's a little gloomy inside and not as modern looking as the other places... but having free wi-fi is a great bonus.

For lists of different flavors and toppings, please see Carol L's review.

Last night, I was lucky enough to enjoy something creamy, white, distinctively tart, and loaded with protein in my mouth.

NO, this is not a description of the hot date I had!  GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER.

I had Frozo's and loaded it with mochi, kiwi, yogurt chips, and chocolate sprinkles.  Fantabulous.
Can't add much, but this is the first self serve joint I have been too.  Well done Frozo's. You sucker us with those toppings and make us pay almost 6 bucks for a cup rather than the usual 4.
I concur with the yelpers, this place has definitely creamier yogurt. If you prefer icy, then head to gelayo gusto. I like both...and am glad I have spots close to work and home-WOO HOO! Bring them on...I am ready for more pleasant nights filled with tartness!

On an unseasonably warm day, Frozo's wealth of diet-counteractive goodness was a perfect lunchtime option... but was I ready?

Armed with the toppings matrix drafted by Carol L, a wise word of warning from Jaye C, and a giggly gutter-minded double entendre provided by Flor D., I ventured into the great frozen taste-bud tundra...

"...moderation... MODERATION!" I chanted to myself, aware of the onlookers.
I pulled the lever down, the dispenser lurching to mechanical life, churning forth chilled ivory icy tart yogurt...

"...don't put 90% fro-yo in the cup or you won't have room for toppings." I imagined Jaye C. saying, guiding me like a Jedi spirit...  I stopped abruptly, a swirl of yogurt collapsing under its own weight.

As I turned towards my right, I envisioned the ingredient table Carol L painstakingly crafted.  I geeked and started quantifying the combinations.  "(8y x 6s x 42t) rationalized by the user's propensity for experimentation, divided by common sense minus the derivative of public ridicule, upwardly limited by the cup's spacial capacity, plus/minus the variable inverse of willpower."  The possibilities were immense.

In my wusstitude, I went with granola and a couple slices of peach.  Of the myriad possible combinations, i opted for, simply, a cup of icy & creamy tart with a couple scoops of granola, garnished with peach... tasty, if not entirely daring.

As I left, a gaggle of SCU girls walked in, cooing and yum'ing the smorgasbord... ah, soon enough, they'd be enjoying something creamy, white, distinctively tart, and loaded with protein in their mouths... (Flor D. made me think it!)

When I was in college, I got obsessed with frozen yogurt.  I loved Yogurt Park because it was cheap and I thought it was relatively healthy.  Since it was non-fat, I thought I could eat that and nothing else and I'd be good.  Since I was weighing myself constantly, I figured out pretty quickly this was not the case.  My love affair with Yogurt Park abruptly ended.

Fast forward a few years and my obsession with a lot of things has faded away, including my juiciness.  Since I can't eat ice cream, I enjoy frozen yogurt again, especially with granola and fresh fruit.  I read a review of Frozo today and was compelled to go immediately.  I got the boysenberry yogurt with blueberries, granola and almonds.  So good.

The store was clean, the toppings diverse and the directions clear.  I have a feeling I will be a frequent visitor this spring and summer.

Frozo's is perfect for people who like to have lots of different toppings or control over the amount of toppings on their fro-yo.  I'm happy with mochi balls and one type of fresh fruit.

Reasons why Frozo's is paradise for a fro-yo lover:
    1. Six flavors of fro-yo a day, including two tart flavors - original tart and plain tart.  The original tart (which I selected) is creamier than the plain tart (icier). The original tart had a great tangy, slightly sweet flavor.
    2. Tons of toppings - cookies, chips, cereal, fresh fruit, mochi balls, candy, marshmallows, syrups
    3. They're happy to give out free samples
    4. Self-serve, pay by weight, 39 cents/ounce
    5. Frequent buyer card
    6. Good, soft, chewy mochi balls

I realized that there is some skill involved in fro-yo construction and that I need to work on my technique.  In my fro-yo frenzy, I tried to put as much fro-yo as possible in my cup, not leaving enough room for toppings.  There wasn't much I could do at that point.  I would have been able to press toppings onto the side of my fro-yo, but I didn't want to dirty the communal topping spoons.  I took a new spoon and patted a little hollow into my fro-yo.  Learn from my mistake - use a bigger cup or don't put as much fro-yo in the cup so that you have room for toppings.

I've never spent $7 on fro-yo before and I think Yumi Yogurt is still a better value (but they don't have mochi balls and their toppings aren't so great).

The place feels like a college hangout (after all, it is across the street from Santa Clara University) and I didn't like the hip hop music they were playing.  The decor isn't as cute as other fro-yo shops (reminds me of a college cafeteria) but they make up for all flaws with their variety of fro-yo flavors and toppings.

Right off the bat, the seemingly endless array of self-serve toppings is impressive. If you're the type that likes to pile on the toppings and mix and match to your heart's content, this is the froyo place for you.

Unfortunately, that's not me. I want distinct and delicious flavors that POP...not a mishmash of everything under the sun.

Also, since you just have to grab a cup and start filling it up with yogurt, there's not a chance to taste the yogurt; something I had hoped to do, having never been there.

I decided to go with half "Icy" Tart and half "Creamy" Tart. Honestly, I was intrigued at first. Two Original Tarts are available? How? Why? I must find out!

Meh. They're pretty much the same, except the Icy one is too sweet and slightly gritty in texture. The Creamy version was also too sweet in my opinion, and was only better because it was...you guessed it...slightly creamier than its Icy counterpart.

Never wanting to mess up the flavor of the yogurt with more than 2 to 3 toppings, I piled on strawberries and mochi and sat down on the black leather (or pleather?) sofa that's clearly seen better days.

The toppings were yummy. Too bad I judge yogurt by its taste versus the toppings I choose. Hey maybe that's why they offer so many toppings (?) Had I buried the yogurt in candy, fruit and nuts, I'm sure it all would have tasted better.

But that's just not my style.

Now is this is the spot for some fro-yo goodness!  It's a "serve yourself" fro-yo place.

Step 1. Select the size of the yogurt cup.
Step 2. Select the flavor of your fro-yo.  The flavors change but they do keep the plain and original tart yogurt flavors.
Step 3. Choose your toppings, from fruit sauces to cereal toppings to chopped nuts to chocolate morsels to fruit toppings.  I love that they have fresh fruit toppings such as blueberries, boysenberries, raspberries, lychees, and mangoes.  They also have little mochi balls!

The last two times, I paid a little under $3.00 as they base the price on the weight.  Also, you can get a frequent buyer card which is pretty cool.  I like the original tart because it's not too sugary and you can doctor it up with the sauces and sweets to make it more or less sweet tasting.  Other flavors that I've see are chocolate peanut butter and mango.  They'll provide a sample before you choose your flavor so taste away!

It's a pretty cool spot with free wi-fi, video games, and a t.v. to watch your sports games.

Hmm, meh. My friend and I raced over there to try to make it before closing on Friday.
Yogurt was OK, toppings were OK. We couldn't sit inside because they were closing.

Definitely nothing special. I love fro yo, don't get me wrong. But there's nothing more to say other than this place was just... meh.

The Frozen Yogurt Craze Continues...first Harmony in San Carlos, Fraiche in Palo Alto, Delatti in Los Gatos, Blondie's a few blocks away and now Frozos. I'd been tracking this place for a while since Mughal opened  down the street. We needed a dessert place to complement the spicy lunches there. They've finally opened and put a twist on the frozen yogurt concept. The place has many flavors and the bar is self serve. You get yourself a big cup and then choose from tons of toppings. I tried the tart original mixed with the Georgia Peach and went with the simple topping of almonds.

A huge cup which came out to about $5. I realized I didn't have any cash on me but not to worry, they accept credit cards. Saved my day. Definitely going back because they have some many flavors and the prices are really cheap compared to most of the new fro-yo places that have cropped up.

I confess - I'm not big on frozen yogurt, but after I've been listening to my clients gushing about how much they loved the creamy frozen delights from Frozo's, I knew had to eventually pay them a visit.

My daughter and I had one of "those" Mondays where you just feel wrenched out at the end of the day. Thinking about how to cheer up the both of us - what better thing to do but to finally get my butt over to Frozo's to check them out!

It's cool that they have late hours (11pm) and is located near Santa Clara University. When we arrived (around 10pm) the storefront was still bustling with activity - mostly college students hanging out.

Since this was our first visit, we were shown how to help serve ourselves and that the price was dependent on weight. I don't digest dairy very well and I was really happy to see that they had a non-dairy option - kiwi strawberry - yum! I didn't opt to have any toppings, but my daughter couldn't resist adding a few toppings to her frozen yogurt.

Ok - so now I'm hooked and I'll be back - I especially want to try the mochi that everyone has been talking about.

On another note - there's free wi-fi here for those of you who bring your lap top and work while savoring your frozen yogurt.

DIY (do-it-yourself)  Froyo.  That's what I'll forever think when I think about Frozo.  And quite frankly, I loved it.

While the rest of the world and United States is catching up with the phenomena that is Pinkberry (ie: the star of the new American Express ads), small shops are opening up throughout Los Angeles and Northern California trying to roll out their unique niche in this new market.

Thanks to Yelp, I've been to more than a handful of these places (Gelayo Gusto, Fraiche, etc), but Frozo's definitely fits my style most.  It most definitely may not be for everyone, but if you like complete control of your dessert (and a bargain price to boot) come for a visit.

It all starts with the frozen yogurt and I counted 8 types on my day there.  The majority are tart a la the Pinkberry style, but they also have variations of creamy and icy as well as flavors like toffee and mango.

Next up are the toppings and frankly, I don't think I've seen a place with so many toppings like this in Northern California (see pics).  Whether your tastes are typical (ie: kiwi, blueberries, and mochi) or strange (Captain Crunch cereal, Health Bar), it's a good bet Frozo has something for you.  I went with my typical winning combination of Oreo cookies, mochi, and strawberries.

Finally, like the toppings and frozen yogurt, you have complete control over how much of everything you add or put in.  Some patrons literally buy large buckets of yogurt and toppings (is that their dinner???) while others stay with sizes more typical of your average frozen yogurt place.  Whatever your desire, everything is weighed at the end at a flat price of 39 cents/ounce.

For me, my average size serving ended up being much more affordable than either Gelayo or Fraiche.  For that, my friends, and the complete control of my ratio of oreos to mochi, Frozo earns an easy 5 stars.

If you want to pay $20 for a full size Snicker's bar, then you've found the right place...

Folks, this place is a visual delight but thats about all.  Its a mirage.  All the toppings you could ever wish for.  Well, there's a reason for all those Willy Wonka like toppings - its to mask the poor quality of the yogurt.

For good quality yogurt, go to Fraiche in Palo Alto.
For good tasting yogurt, go to Yumi Yogurt in Santa Clara / San Jose.

Oh, and so you can technically get free samples, but I've questioned this.  The free sample mini-cup is given to you by an older somber looking man.  His shirts never have sleeves and he's just not the friendliest person.  His kindness wears off after you ask for a 2nd or 3rd mini sample cup.  I'm sorry, but if I'm eating yogurt, I want to think of happy bubbly thoughts like cartoons, disney movies, and boison berries, not the big bad wolf.

I had a slight change of heart after my last visit here and discovering other better quality yogurt places. I guess I would only go here for the toppings since they have stuff like rice krispy treats, bits of pound cake, and brownies bits.

The tart original is too sour in my opinion. The Hawaiian delight was too sweet. I would of sampled the flavors first. but the staff was too busy doing other things.

They get you on the ounce too, my creation totaled $7.27!?! Frozos is not a good place if you lack control. Of course I am going to pack all these things on my yogurt because everything looks good....so evil. I'm used to spending around $4-$5 everywhere else. They didn't have fresh blueberries either.

Value wise I will not be going to Frozos too often anymore since it is also out of the way too.

Oh I forgot to mention my $7+ yogurt lasted me a span of 3 days.
