This place is near the ferry terminal which is a choice location. The beer is made right on the island and it is quite tasty. We had a salmon salad and the salad was pretty good but the salmon itself was overcooked. If you are looking for a burger or a good beer, this may be the place for you. They are one of the few places that are open late which is a plus.

Pretty good beer, pretty good fish and chips, quite good french dip sandwich, and a nice sense of history and local feel. This place seems to be heavily involved in community events and is a hangout for the locals. Plus, they're one of the places to eat that's open after 7pm. Hurrah. If you like learning about local history, take a look at the photos on the wall. The staff are pretty friendly, and the menu's fun to read (the first time around, at least).
My dinner partner, who likes hoppy beer, didn't find his choice of the 'hoppiest beer' to be too impressive. -

Decent beer. Not a great selection or great price ($4.25 pints) but not bad either. Friendly atmosphere and service.
During the off season, last call is at 10:30(!!!) on Saturday nights. Thankfully, they have a bunch of bottled 22oz beers you can get to go! -

Decent beer, decent food, great service. Our server went out of her way to make sure we were enjoying our visit.
We had the beer sampler, chili and chicken fingers. The food was about what you would expect at a bar. The beer was good but not wonderful. They had bacon-infused beer which was nothing special but a nice effort. If I lived in the area I would stop in from time to time. -

going along with my theory about Brewpubs...good brew=good pub grub. Not so here. I have gone here numerous times thinking I was just imagining the food was mediocre and the beer was soapy, but alas, I finally learned my lesson.
Upside: great service, salty atmosphere, fun waitstaff and decent french fries -

Friday Harbor, WA
The beer is too malty for my taste. I don't know what kind of crap people are prepared to eat or drink that would warrant this place more than my generous 3 stars.....

Stick with the beer here folks, they've got little kids working back in the kitchen. Seriously, I thought there were laws against that.

This is perhaps one of the best bars I've been to in the state. The place is packed on Friday nights and they have great local brews on tap. Drinks are cheap and you get the chance to mingle with the elusive locals of San Juan Island. Get here after sunset and enjoy your evening.

The Ale House is one of my favorite places in Friday Harbor. It's filled with a mix of locals and tourists. Plus it's open until 11 during the winter unlike a lot of places in town. The beer is good and the food is excellent.

Love this place for the Beer. I've not feed my self here but probable should have... Mugs of micro brew beer a liter deep for $8.00!!! Very chill place and the man behind the bar was very helpful when I could not decide on which one of the fine beers to choose.

Four years ago when I lived on my boat in Friday Harbor I frequented the Front Street Ale House because it was a short walk from the marina and they had good pub food and lots of good beers. To me this WAS Friday Harbor. Today I was passing through on the ferry and I was stunned to see the windows papered over and yellow tape across the entrance, and a pile of dirt where someone had been digging up the sidewalk. Friday Harbor will never be the same without it. R.I.P.
