1418 Ocean DrI stayed at the Penguin hotel upstairs once before and this is how I found out about this place. I also was recomended to go here by my local Uncle who lives on the next block.
The location is really good and I love the view. The service is really bad and really slow. The hashbrowns are great and the banana pancakes were pretty heavy and not amazing.
I was starvingggggggggg waiting for my food!! But eh, it's South Beach, and I had no where to go!

I went here because I read about it in a travel guide. And now I know don't trust travel guides. The place was ok, but way down on Ocean Drive - far away from all the happening (albeit cheesy) places. The food: huge portions but not great at all. The pancakes were granola pancakes - not recommended. I have to say: when you go to Southbeach - live it up in the "cool" places. What the heck - thats why you are there.
This place sucks. Enough said...

I think we ate here at least once a day while on a vacay to South Beach from Chicago. It's a great place to sit outside right on Ocean Dr. in South Beach and watch all the interesting folk. Their breakfast is really good and I really enjoyed the curry chicken sandwich for lunch. The wait can get long- but hey it's South Beach!
While the ingredients seemed to be of higher quality than nearby News Cafe (I especially liked the potatoes), breakfast at Front Porch was very disappointing. My eggs were runny and I had to beg a few times to get my coffee (hey I'm a serious addict, don't mess with me in the morning!). Service was also a trouble spot, our server was really tough to track down. The outdoor seating is nice, but there are plenty of other cafes around in this touristy district.

Consistent food for a good price. Good outside porch and sidewalk cafe. Good for breakfast food all day. Usually quite busy in the morning and especially on Sundays. Good location on Ocean Drive
Food = 3.5 Stars
Service = 2.75 Stars
Decor = 2.5 Stars
This place is so good it gets four stars even after an insane 7 year old girl in a cowboy hat decided to chuck a glass of water on me from the hotel 2 floors up. I was drenched, but all I cared about was that the water missed my delicious breakfast burrito.

One of the prime places for breakfast on South Beach including the best French Toast. It's served piping hot with butter and maple syrup on the side as well as a small bowl of fresh fruit. The selection of omelettes was very good.
The service was very good and we only had to wait about 15 minutes on a Sunday morning. When waiting in line, it might be a good idea to wait for a table in the shade. It's gets very hot and humid in Miami almost all days of the year.
For parking, try the Miami City lot at The Anchor Shops at 16th and Collins. You enter on 16th Street.
The biggest allure of Front Porch was the sidewalk seating. The granola and yogurt I had was very average. The yogurt was very bland, I guess I was expecting vanilla and instead got plain. My wife ordered an omelet and with well done potatoes. The potatoes were good and the omelet OK. I would definitely like to hit some different places on Ocean Dr. next time. MY personal favorites that I have been to in past trips are the news cafe and the Clevelander.
Went here for breakfast on a Monday. We opted to sit inside (think air conditioning) because it was a humid day. Portions are larger than you'd expect. I had the biscuit breakfast sandwich, which actually turned out to be TWO sandwiches (plenty to share!). I asked for the sausage patty on the side, which I added to my eggs and cheese. The breakfast potatoes were spicy and well done. Yum! We also ordered a small fruit salad, enough to serve two. The coffee was great and the Bloody Mary was decent. Make sure to request top shelf liquor for your drinks; otherwise, this place serves some bottom of the well brands I'd never even seen before. The service was slooooow and not attentive at all. Again, the tip was automatically added to the check, so the staff have no incentive to provide good service. A few customers were obviously regulars. Definitely worth a visit if you're staying in a nearby hotel.

There is absolutely nothing remarkable about this sidewalk cafe at the end of Ocean Drive on South Beach.
There are some interesting dishes on the menu, especially the lobster salad sandwich, but everything was made somewhat less than adequately. The lobster was dry and its accompanying pasta salad was stiff and rather bland. The service was somewhat brusque and curt, inexcusable considering the place was hardly busy.
However, the food is still palatable. It sure beats waiting for an hour to get to one of the better, more popular restaurants on Ocean Drive. Watch out for the waiter with the frosted hair and eyebrows.
Pretty standard diner menu, but excellent omelettes and, of cooz, hard to beat Ocean Dr people watching spot.
