Frog's Leap perfected HOSPITALITY.   Visitors are treated as welcomed guests and everyone is really friendly.  The Visitor center looks just like a home.  There's a dining room with comfy sofa and chairs, and even a cute cat napping on a chair.  The bathrooms have lotions and Sunscreen!!  They provide hats for the tour.

You do have to have a reservation for a tour.   You will be greeted with a glass of rose, and get to try more wine during your fun tour of the lovely organic vineyard/garden/farm.  This place is organic, green, and just eco friendly in every way.  And several employees mentioned how fun it was to work here.  I really admire the owner's way of doing business.

This was the best winery experience I've ever had and I've visited quite a few over the years.  It's too bad most of the other wineries in this region don't even come close to this.

We just did a two-day Napa/ Sonoma circuit, and this was definitely my favorite overall of the eight wineries we visited.

Stars for: Beautiful, elegant-farmhouse-style winery
Laid-back, friendly, knowledgeable staff members
Four taste flight poured at once so you could do side-by-sides and really go at your own speed - cool for a change of pace in tasting room style

We had a reservation for a big group, and they were very accommodating when we asked if we could come in a bit early. We got seated at the large table that is inside so you can watch all the goings-on in the kitchen to the left, the "living room" behind us, the checkout area to the right, and with the huge open doorway to the vineyards and outside tasting area, you are right in the thick of the action. Coming on a Monday was perfect, because our whole group really liked the winery, and we were able to walk around and enjoy ourselves without feeling rushed at all.

As far as the wines go, only one was really toward the top of my list, and that was the Sauv. Blanc - and I'm definitely more a red fan. This was the only white I bought all trip. Almost everyone else LOVED and bought the Zinfandel. I liked it, but it was a bit light. So I chose the Rutherford instead. Very earthy.

Only negative? I don't get to live there!

I'm not sure what I can say about Frog's Leap that hasn't been said already! The winery is beautiful, and they really set you up well at a table overlooking their gorgeous "backyard." The staff are all so nice, very attentive and knowledgeable about their wines. We had Kendall serving us and she was great. It really feels like you're in someone's house just hanging out--they even have a dog and a cat roaming around the grounds.

I really enjoyed all the wines here a lot, and thought they were reasonably priced as well. Even though we only tasted four, they were generous with the pours so we really got to enjoy what we had. We also stayed for awhile after finishing, just to enjoy the scenery, and it was nice because we didn't feel rushed out of the winery at all. I definitely would like to come back here again next time I'm in Napa.

One word: Awesome. I've been to Napa Valley, 4, 5 times now? I've tasted/toured at 3-5 different wineries every single time. I think that makes me a bit of a connoisseur, yes? (although I am no local)

This one is a little off the beaten path, but it is definitely worth it.

What the group of friends and I loved was the way the seating was. Intimate and beautiful. We were seated at a big table (there were 11 of us) that had a view of the beautiful scenery outside (there was no window or door separating us from the outside). We were really on a patio of some sort. There were multiple small and cozy looking tables towards the other patio as well (for smaller parties).

They prepped our wines (We tasted 3, one white and two red) and a cute little glass of water for us before we even sat down.

As soon as we sat down, someone came to explain how they are one of the few napa wineries that are still organic "don't use irrigation, what rain they get is what they use" and then they left us to enjoy the wine and view.

There's also a little plate of cheese/crackers/dried fruit for you to clean your palate with while you're sipping on your wine with good company.

Then when you're on the last glass, you may take your glass and walk around in their garden to enjoy the view.

Choose this one, you will NOT regret it.

Frog's Leap is a gorgeous winery! The tastings are held in their beautiful vineyard house that overlooks the incredible view of the gardens. They are an organic winery that uses dry farming practices. Our server was very informative and told us all about what dry farming is and how it works.

I thought the wine was okay. I hate to admit it but I actually preferred the views. The pairings went extremely well with the wines, especially the white wine and Prima Donna cheese - yummy!

First things first-- Frog's Leap takes the cake in the categories of style and hospitality, but falls harrowingly behind in producing wines of substance.

Wines aside, Frog's Leap is a warm and inviting piece of California wine country. I see Frog's Leap as a destination not for its wines, but for its immaculate and homely grounds, its integrity in wine making, and it's "hands-off" approach in allowing visitors to taste, touch, and take in all that Frog's Leap offers.

The daily tasting (four flights) is $15 and comes with cheese, dried fruit, almonds, and crackers. They do offer 2 tours a day and it fills up quickly, so call ahead (don't procrastinate like I did). Apparently the tastings that supplement the tour are gratis.

Sauvignon Blanc-- Dry, peachy, with a hint of grapefruit. This was probably the best out of the four, and I'm not normally a sauvignon blanc kind of gal.

Zinfandel-- Too young and subdued for a zin. Incredibly tannic. However, our pourer stated that they wanted this zin to be softer and not as bold as typical zins go. Wine is personal, so it's good to make notes of what you like or don't like about a particular varietal and see how the wines at each winery contrast or parallel your taste.

Merlot-- Raw. Again, like the Zinfandel, seemed young, but opened up more toward the end. It was a great compliment with the cheese.

Rutherford-- The biggest heavy hitter they had on the tasting menu. I feel that this one needs to sit for a year or two for it to show its true potential. I liked the damp earthy textures scent, but that was about all. Then again, at $75 a bottle, maybe this one's too rich for my blood.

3/5 for the wines.
5/5 for everything else.
Oh, http://www.frogsleap.com 5/5 on the website.

I think this place is way overrated. I agree that the grounds to this place is beautiful! I would love if this place were my house. But, Napa Valley is beautiful everywhere so let's move on.

My cousin called here to see if reservations were needed, and they said it was not. We arrived here on a Saturday around 2 or3, and they told us there was a 20 minute wait to do a tasting, so we decided to wait. 20 minutes turned into 30 minutes, and 30 minutes turned into 40 minutes. After 45 minutes, we were finally seated. However, even after we were seated, it took an additional 10 or 15 minutes to get some wine. I believe they told us they were running out of wine glasses. I don't know what winery runs out of wine glasses?

There were 4 tastings in the flight, and it came with a little plate of cheese, nuts, and dried fruit. The "tastings" were like a whole glass of wine. I guess depending on your preference,  this can be good or bad thing. I didn't want 4 glasses of wine, I wanted a tasting! I'd rather have paid $5 or so for a 1 or 2 oz. pour of each rather than spend $15. I guess you get what you pay for? Also was bummed out when I read on Yelp (while I was waiting) that in June or so tastings here were free.

Like most other wineries, you'll probably find some wines you like and some you don't here.

I've been wine tasting in napa a few times, so I was very surprised when I arrived at Frog Leap. The staff was unbelievably friendly and helpful, and the winery is just gorgeous. At most of the wineries I've been to, you stand at the bar to sample their wines. At others, I've gotten to sit and taste at the tiny tables where you feel smushed by other parties. But at Leap Frog, you get a much more personal feel. There are a few tables out on the front porch as well as a huge oak dining room table where our large group of 11 were seated. It was so peaceful, I didn't want to leave! But of course we had other wineries to visit, so we took a walk around the gardens and were on our way to winery #2. If I had to recommend one winery in napa for friends to visit. THIS IS DEFINITELY THE PLACE!

I really enjoyed this really relaxing and really friendly winery.
Definitely, the most refreshing in Napa.

I enjoyed their zinfandel, a very good merot, and an excellent cab as well.
loved that they presented the wines with a small cheese and berry plate.

My favorite other than the wines of course, was walking the dry farmed gardens where they have pumpkins, strawberries, chili peppers, peach trees, everything a dream garden would be.

Annie, the winery dog is adorable, forget chasing balls, she chases peaches! pretty funny us throwing her one, she took a nibble then buried it under another tree.

I will have to visit this place again.

When I imagine the perfect Napa wine tasting experience, I imagine myself back at Frog's Leap.
It's smaller and more intimate than most wineries nearby. When you walk in, you really feel like your entering someone's house (albeit a huge, modern farm estate house), complete with cozy furniture, rustic iron chandeliers, and a retired farm cat lounging about.
They let you taste four wines with complementing cheese, bread sticks and dried fruit out on a very wide, welcoming terrace overlooking their garden.
And their Garden!
We were totally welcome to stroll about as we pleased. The garden produces a plethora of tree fruit, vegetables and flowers. Most of the flora was native to California. I saw a lot of fat, happy bumble bees (a true sign of a healthy area). The scent of the lavender floats up to greet you before you even see it. They also have a pretty koi pond.
So, in terms of ambiance, it's pretty hard to top Frog's Leap.
The wine was, in my opinion (and I am new to the wine scene, I should probably mention), pretty good. I didn't like their Zinfandel, but their Sauvignon Blanc tasted like peaches!
The best part is, it wasn't too crowded, even on a Saturday. I hope I don't kill their solitude with a positive review.
Website is also killer, and has updated prices (when we went it was 15 dollars for a flight...a little steep, but totally worth it considering where you get to hang out)

I have a feeling this is as good as it gets. This place is as beautiful as it is charming, with more little surprises around every corner.

Hands down, THIS IS A MUST-STOP IN NAPA.

We sought this place out based on its stellar reviews and were not disappointed. As soon as we turned down the drive, lined with melon and pumpkin vines, we fell in love. The main house is a beautiful, clean space with a huge porch overlooking their gardens. We sat out there in the shade and hummingbirds flitted around our heads to visit the vines right beside our seats -- amazing!

We were treated to a tasting of four wines -- one white and three reds. All organic and very refreshing. They also threw in a cheese plate with almonds and dried fruit ... all for $15! A great deal in Napa.

Mostly, though, we fell in love with the laid back, effortless country feel of this place -- right down the beautiful green glasses they served our water in. They have chickens here, and every now and then we'd hear the roosters crow! We also had the pleasure of meeting the resident cat, lounging on a sofa in the house.

After we finished, we were given another splash of wine and invited to walk around the grounds, where they grow wildflowers, strawberries, raspberries, peppers, melons and more. And we were able to borrow straw hats for our little journey, too (a necessity on this day). We headed over to watch the chickens, and discovered they also have their own bee hives on the property.

I will definitely make this a stop every time I visit Napa from now on -- what a treat. Next time I'll take the tour.

Oh! And as a bonus, the woman helping us check out offered us tasting cards for another winery. Actually, she couldn't find them, so she wrote her name on a business card for us to take, and sure enough, we got two free tastings at the next winery. Now THAT'S service.

Thanks, Frog's Leap!

One of the best wineries/grounds in Napa! Seriously!!! We drive up to Napa about 1-2 times a month/mainly for our club shipments and to make our way through all of the Napa Valley vineyards and this place is a hidden gem!!

Plan to book in advance (2 weeks if you can) since this is not so much of a secret anymore! (ask for Johnny as your guide-- he was awesome!) It's also free which outside of Heitz and Frank Family is pretty much unheard of in the area.

We went to Frog's Leap with little knowledge of their wine or their amazing eco-friendly practices (organic/sustainable)--they're LEEDS certified!

Ok so the tour here is great, very personal and intimate, you really feel like you can ask anything and the guides are well informed and charming/personable. You also get to see their beautiful grounds, gardens/produce they grow to naturally keep pests at bay (they have chickens too!) and hear about their innovative agricultural processes and construction of their buildings.

But the best part is--the wine is outstanding, extremely well priced and well crafted--we were so smitten we almost joined the wine club on the spot (we're already in 5 though so we got to take it easy!!)

A must stop for any visitor, new or seasoned alike.

DO NOT lie about the wait time...if the wait is clearly not going to be 20 minutes, don't say it will be 20 minutes!  I understand if its 25 mins or 30 mins, but 45 minutes to get seated and slow service afterwards, sucks!  Its not that it was crowded and all tables were full, not at all!!  There were several tables empty the entire time we were waiting that could have accommodated our group of 5.  Once I had my wine, things got slightly better because the tasting is closer to an actual pour.  Not one pour, but 4.  The sheer frustration was not worth it. I'd go back, but only at odd times when no one would be there.

Frog's Leap is one of my favorites wineries  ever.  If you're going to Napa, make an appointment for a FREE tour and FREE tasting - a rarity in Napa where most charge $15 for a tasting.  Frog's Leap is located in between Highway 29 and the Silverado trail. It's off the path, so it's not big and touristy. When you're visiting, it feels like you're in someone's home. Tours are very casual and light-hearted, so you don't have to be a wine expert to enjoy it.  You get to see all aspects of the winery, from the vineyards, gardens, fermenting, bottling, etc.

The tastings occur during the tour while you're walking the grounds. And, as others mentioned, these aren't 3 oz. tastings, but about  full glasses. The tastings vary, but when we went they had chardonnay, zin, merlot and Rutherford red. The wines are all delicious. These are rich, complex wines and not the light Bordeaux style.  The winery has a very sustainable philosophy or organic, dry farming, which is reflected in the bottle price. Frog's Leap is pricey with whites about $25 and reds $35, with the exception of their Rutherford Red (cabernet) at $75, but it's worth the splurge for a special occasion.

Frog's Leap is also available at BevMo for a few dollars cheaper than at the winery. http://Wine.com also carries it, but they're sold out of everything this season.

we absolutely love this winery. after taking some of our engagement photos on the property, the hubby knew it would be the perfect place to come back to post wedding.

we enjoyed our wine tasting on the veranda and came home with a bottle of their 2006 merlot rutherford ($34). we also really liked the 2005 rutherford (96% cabernet sauvignon and 4% cab franc) but at $75 per bottle we decided to take a raincheck for our next visit. we also liked the cheese plate with fruit pairing of the wines. i couldn't stop eating the gouda!

if and when you visit, take the time to explore the beautiful grounds -- red barns, wood deck with rocking chairs, flowers, and even sample some fresh vegetables from their garden.

beautiful wine, gorgeous property and outstanding customer service!

I remember well an excellent 2002 Zinfandel that turned me on to Frog's Leap.  Ever since then I have always enjoyed the occasional bottle, but had no clue about the winery.  Finding ourselves in Sonoma for the Fourth of July, we decided to hunt down some new winery experiences.  First of all the grounds our great.  A great garden with all kinds of fruits of vegetable growing everywhere.  A water feature complete with lilly pads, although I did not see any frogs though.  They apparently just started doing actual wine tastings at $15 a person.  That includes a little plate of nuts, crackers, cheese and 4 or 5 pours.  It seems like these guys really pride themselves on their chill attitude and they do seem to lack some of the pretentiousness  that  you can find in Napa.  Great views, combined with often excellent wine, and the occasional winery dog saying hello, make for a required stop in Napa Valley.

What a wonderful experience.  It is free, but you have to make an appointment for a winery tour.  The main house is quite nice and the staff are truly informative and wonderful.  The 1st wine tasting is in the house and from there, you take a little walking tour around the place.  They have other bottles of wine stashed around the place and you go around with your glass.

The house is very "green".  The gardens are very natural and organic.  There are chickens living there as well.  There are so many different types of fruits and veggies and trees growing there.  The barn was nice to tour as well.

It's a fun place that is definitely wonderful.  I'd have paid for an experience like this, but the fact that it is free, make is all that more valuable.

Home is where the heart is and I must say that Frog's Leap Winery felt as if I were visiting a friend's home.  Apparently, I was sitting in Terra Cotta the Cat's chair, when moments later she meowed onto my lap where she stayed until the tour began.  Anyone who hands me some booze the moment I step into their house is definitely okay in my book, and not only did John hand me some booze, he kept me topped off the entire time as we walked the grounds of the winery, sampled organic produce from the gardens, and listened to Frog's philosophy of making wines.

As you pass by the chicken coop, ask them to tell you the tale of Fabio the Rooster and his harem of hens.  You'll probably be invited to shoot some hoops at the end of the tour, so take your best shot and enjoy my favorite winery in the area.

Frog's Leap is one of Napa's most interesting wineries to visit. They were very green, (and I don't just mean the frogs), long before saving the planet was cool.

A visit to Frog's Leap is a very individualized experience. You are taken on a very casual and low-key tour of the organic facility as well as treated to a tasting. You'll learn a lot not only about Frog's Leap's wines, but about the history of Napa, secrets to going green inexpensively, etc.

The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed. There is no question here that wine really starts with farmers.

I am in LOVE with Frog's Leap.  First of all - the HOUSE!  It is so welcoming, so comfortable, so chill, so relaxing.  The gigantic farmhouse dining room makes you feel like you could hang out all day, eat and drink with friends and then watch the sun go down with no reservations about time or commitment.  The dog running about on the grounds makes you feel at home.  The staff giving the tours is engaging, informal and extremely funny.  It's a serious bonus that the entire winery is organic and that their main house is LEED certified.

Their tastings are free and they pour HUGE glasses (a problem for my aunts who at this point were already wasted because they weren't spitting like I was).  We had a wonderful time here and it really stood out on the trip.  I am a serious fan and now look for thier wines everywhere I go.

God, this tour was good. And free? Seriously? Wow, amazing. Warm and welcoming hospitality is the name of the game here, and the personalized attention was definitely a nice change from some of the tourist swamps at the other wineries (cough-Beringer-cough). We were walked through practically *every* aspect of the winery's operations, and the tour was sprinkled with little witticisms and fun anecdotes. Their buildings are gorgeous and all LEED Gold certified, which green junkies should sprout wood over (no pun intended). I certainly did!

I can't wait to come back when they finally substitute their placeholder cutout cow for a real one.

Oh, there's also an awesome happy cat that just lounges on the chairs in the main building. That's turning it up to 11, folks.

If I were ever to run a winery, this is exactly how I would do it. Sustainable, hospitable, and with a cat chilling in the guest area.

This was our first winery for the trip. We walked in with an 1130am appointment. We were welcomed by our tour guide and started out with a glass of chardonnay. The tasting and tour are done together so don't forget to bring ur wine glass around with u. There was about 11 of us on the tour so we began with the history of the house then introduced ourselves once in the vineyards. The compound was very homey and the gardens were so pretty full of fig trees, artichoke bushes, strawberries and lots more.

These are not tasting pours but full wine glasses of each. We tasted 4: chardonnay, zinfandel, merlot and the rutherford. The rutherford was amazing which is why they saved the best for last. The tour/tasting was free and they do not pressure u to buy anything. I really wanted the rutherford but at 75/bottle we decided to go with the chardonnay to bring back to the hotel.

My bf enjoyed the humor of the owner and how he reflected this into his wine.

I echo all of the previous reviews about this being the best tour/tasting experience in Napa.  I love the relaxed less commercial nature of this winery, and their unique business practices.  So many of the wineries in Napa have become overly touristy commercial bus tour stops.  But Frog's leap has retained the feel of how a winery should be!

You have to reserve a tour in advance, and it seems like they don't let busloads do that thankfully!

The tour is a very personal one, that starts out in their newly renovated tasting centre.  They give you a wide rimmed hat to shade you in the vineyard, and basically walk you around from spot to spot pouring a new glass in each location.

I like how they have a strong focus on sustainable organic farming.  Their vines do not get irrigated or chemically treated  They let them get old enough to reach down into the water table, which produces a much more flavourful grape, and keep away the bugs with natural predators.  Their grapes aren't the wimpy, "I need a drink from mommy and antiseptic chemical wipes for my hands" kind of grapes like at many of the other vineyards.  They are the "I don't need no stinking water, I like dirt, nature, and the outdoor" type that are hearty and tough, and produce a more intense flavour.

You also just have to appreciate the sense of humour that comes through in every little thing they do.  The corks all are printed on the side with "Ribbit," the bottles say "Open on the other side," the written descriptions of many wines have sarcastic humour or puns, and they even ended my last tour with every person taking a shot at an old basketball hoop with a deflated basketball.  If you made a basket you got a free bottle of wine.  (Of course they made you do that after tasting 4 or 5 glasses of wine!)

I make sure to always a book a tour whenever I'm in Napa.

Beautiful vineyard!

We signed up for the free tour and tasting (all tastings are done throughout the tour). The grounds are gorgeous.  The wines are delicious.  The tour does a great job of describing the whole process and thinking behind the  "green" winery.

Highly recommend!

The winery is cute... looks like someone's backyard. So, feels much like being at home. The girl who gave us a tour was also friendly and entertaining. It was a wonderful experience! , whereas when you go somewhere else... seems like the people are more wine snoob! It has one of the best view of Napa Valley from the barn where they have all the kegs. In the middle of the so called "bakcyard", they have a couple tables where people could sit, enjoy their wine, and the view of Napa Valley! It was awesome! I am sure will come and visit again.

I'm local and this is one of my favorite tour and tasting experiences.  The staff are friendly, warm and down to earth.  Tour the gardens and barrel room while learning about the tasty wines and the people behind the winery.  A great experience!

Finally got to do a tasting here and it was worth the wait. They only have a few tasting/tours a day, but they are a great deal of fun. They don't accept large groups, but if you are just a few they can accomodate. They take you through the gardens, barrel rooms, and barns, giving you tastes of wine and produce along the way. They even provide hats to shade you from the warm sun.

You'll learn the history of the winery, and even see the original art work for the label (and the ones who didn't win!). Plus the Sauvignon Blanc continues to be a favorite, and their dessert wine is delicious! ribbit!

Bonus points, they are dog friendly (no dogs in the main house since they have a cat, but in the barrel room and garden they can walk -leashed-along)

My first wine tasting tour and it was fabulous. We were recommended the place by a friend, and it was described to us by him (or was it the guide?) as kind of the "hippie" of Napa wineries. They do this whole biodynamic growing of fruits and veggies on their land and after hearing about all the parties, you'll wish you were part of the staff there.

We were led around the premises and sampled 4 different wines while we walked. It was relaxed, interesting, and the wine was delicious. If you like sweet wines, they have this FBA (which stands for froggenbugermeistersomething...err..) but its the sweetest dessert wine I've ever had. Like the guide suggested to pour it over a Belgium waffle for breakfast...or over crushed ice and make a snow cone. HAH.

Great hospitality, great wine, just an overall perfect experience. I'd definitely go again!

I love love love, Frog's Leap.  I would work there, for free.  Wait, I would pay to work there.  The property is beautiful, there's care taken with their grapes.  The tour is perfect, wine perfect, staff perfect.  We got lucky with our tour, I called the day of, and they fit us in and it was free.

I'm not going to say much about this place.  People need to experience it first hand.

This winery is like being entertained in someone's HUGE backyard with a view of gorgeous gardens!  We walk into the huge house and sitting in the middle of the living room is a cute cat napping. AWWW! We walk around the corner and a huge long table, small cute tables on the porch that lead to this huge garden.  We were greeted quickly by a host who asked if we wanted to do a tasting and we sit outside in a cute little table for two.  For the tasting we get some cheese, crackers and olives!! All the food tasted great with our wine.  We got three different kinds of wine for our tasting for $10.00.  We started off with some White fruity chardonnay that neither of us liked.  We moved on to a Zinfandel and its ok like 3 out of 5 stars at most.  We end with the most expensive one and its again just 3 out of 5 stars for a Merlot since not much bite for $70 a bottle.  After our tasting we walked around the grounds that were so pretty with tons of flowers, huge vegetable garden, fruit trees and the vineyard of course.  There is also some goat and chickens there as well.  Everything is eco friendly there and very green.  The view of the mountains was amazing as well! They do offer a tour for free but were full that day and I saw that Yelpers say you get more wine since they fill up your glasses.  We had a great time but just thought their wine was average!

Frog's Leap has a lock on my vote for the best vineyard/tasting experience in the entire Napa Valley area.  They offer a wonderful, free tour of their fully sustainable, beautiful vineyard and garden.  The free wine tasting is also the best in the entire area.

On my most recent visit (our 2nd visit to Frog's Leap) we walked away with three bottles from Frog's Leap - and had I realized we wouldn't find anything even at the same level on the remainder of our trip  - I would have bought even more.  Luckily you can occasionally find Frog's Leap around San Francisco at places like Andronicos.

I highly recommend their Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Cab, Rose (for a nice warm summer day) and their limited production dessert wine (Frogenbeerenlaus - ort something like that).

If you can only visit one vineyard in all of Napa Valley, and you don't make it Frog's Leap - you are doing yourself a huge disservice.

Nice tasting out on their veranda. The grounds were nice to walk around too, as it is an organic farm. They pour you a set of 4 wines and bring a plate of cheese, crackers, and dried fruits. I was kind of surprised that they didn't waive the tasting fee with a purchase, like some places do.

Every winery should welcome guests like Frog's Leap.  I can't stand stuffy, snobby, or overly corporate wineries- this place is the complete opposite.

We arrived about 5 minutes late for our reservation so I was worried that we would get a little attitude. I couldn't have been more wrong.  We were immediately greeted with a smile and large glasses of chardonnay.  We were then told to walk over to a large table where people on the tour were introducing themselves.

The tour guide was friendly, informative, and funny.  Oh, and she was quite generous when pouring our tastings.  Make sure to buff up on Frogs Leap info. on the website before visiting.  The guide asks several trivia questions and there are prizes for the first person who has a right answer.

I ended up buying two bottles of wine at the end of the tour: one zin and one merlot.  They were tasty, but only time will tell if I enjoyed the wine because it was such a nice tour or if I really liked the taste of the wine.  Either way, my family and I were really happy with our visit to Frog's Leap.

I visited Frogs Leap one week ago today and now I am having separation anxiety. It is wonderful and welcoming, what a winery should be after all.

We took a day trip to Napa and my pal Dana had this on the top of her list. We didn't have a tour scheduled or a tasting, but no bother, we did both anyway. A nice young woman greeted us with wine in hand. A cat lounged freely in a chair in the welcome area. Smiling visitors sported garden hats and fresh pours.

We were encouraged to take a self guided tour of the gardens, check out the barn, visit the chickens. But first I bought myself one of the cool gardening hats they had for sale, a reasonable $20. Off to the garden I went dreaming of what my own could be.(Because of the Frogs Leap inspiration, I added organic compost to the soil this week)

After my cohorts enjoyed their free wine and a rest on the porch, they joined me for picture taking among the flowers. The staff were working hard pruning plants, giving tours, picking cherries, making wine. I sometimes have a tendency to walk off the designated paths and no one stopped me, so I felt at home.

As we decided to make moves down the road we were offered fresh picked cherries. "Take a bag if you like"  We were also  given the list of open and friendly picnic areas. Lets just say it was hard to leave. I imagine, if we had actually made an appointment it would have been even better.

If you are looking for a genuinely pleasant Napa Valley experience, then Frogs Leap is bounds beyond the rest.

I immediately felt at home here, so much so that I want to get an internship here next summer. They have a beautiful welcoming large house and their grounds are filled with vineyards that are dry farmed, using no water, and a huge variety of organic foods. When I arrived I was certainly amazed and in love with the place and that feeling only grew after each large taste of wine . Not a lot of the food was ripe yet, but I left with artichokes, broccoli flowers and edible flowers. They do not sell the food they grow, but give it away, oh and we also had strawberries my favorite. Our tour guide was really charismatic, friendly, and genuine and told us about peach daquiri parties and the likes. The atmosphere was so happy I just love this place, I wouldn't mind spending.....forever at a place like this.

A nice place to visit and actually walk around the place. We didn't have a reservation (as they were booked for the week), but decided to go anyway. We were offered a glass of Merlot, which we took to the porch and the garden. The place had a laid back atmosphere.

This was the very first winery I've ever been to, and I'm glad I chose to go here first!
