This place is really interesting. I dragged a friend here for dinner yesterday, and I have to say as much as I love Topanga and its great vibe, Froggy's just didn't give me an Inn on the Seventh Ray feeling. Don't get me wrong, the vibe was super cool: there was a huge dining room with a live band, another room with a "bar crowd", an outdoor patio with the smokers, and the place I chose to have dinner, the Bayou-like-patio.

We went specifically for for their halibut fish and chips and shrimp basket  I had super high expectations for my meal, but the taste and quality of the food were just OK.  I would love to go here again for lunch - I have a feeling this would be a great spot in the day.

Froggy's is magical.  however, instead of froggy's topanga fish market, i think it should be called froggy's enchanted topanga dive bar.  it just makes more sense.   hippie hotties aplenty (as well as aging hippie notties), hummingbirds swarm the decks, AND it's dog friendly.  WHAT ELSE IS THERE?  all i have to say is YES!  YEEESSSS

I am in love with Froggy's! Went yesterday for drinks after scorching in the sun at Topanga Earth day...and holy cow...I had the BEST mojito I've EVER had in my life! I would have had 10 of them if I weren't already stuffed. I was also so excited to see that they have a whole list of Veggie Rolls at their sushi bar...my friend and I shared the Yam Yum Roll, tempura yams with avocado and rice, and it was oh so wonderful. Everything is really reasonably prices as well, which is a breath of fresh air.

I love sitting outside in the lovely beauty of Topanga and just chatting. There was a couple sitting out, drinking beers and playing cards...it's just that kind of place. I can't wait to make my way up there again soon...

Kind of a pain to get to. Wouldn't really go there unless I was on my way to the beach. The restaurant has this hippie vibe, they are a little slow in getting our food. The fish is fresh and good. the side dishes can be a little bland. I do recommend the fire roasted artichokes...the BEST! and in the parking lot is kind of nice at night, you could hear all the frogs in the area.

I have been living in the Topanga mountains for over a year now and it wasn't until recently that I finally stopped in to Froggy's. I figured any place with the neon frog leaping sign was worth a trip and it was!
It's a fun, casual place with tasty, reasonable priced food. I had the salmon special and it was terrific. My own complaint is that were people smoking on the patio where were sitting so I would watch out for that next time.
Other then that, I thought it was solid. On par with Reel Inn, (both better then Galdstones!) and little easier for me to get to, which is a plus! An easy, quick, fun and tasty dinner; I'll be heading back to Froggy's

Another Perfect day.....   Take a mountain bike trip up to Eagles Rock or the Outlook, have a beer at Mike's house often followed by a puff and then head down to Froggy's for a Cajun Swordfish fillet and a cold Hemp Ale.

On a warm day there really is nothing better than this mountain retreat.  Sit outside with a view looking down into Topanga Creek with plenty of other like minded peeps.  I really love the overall feel to this place and the staff that make it feel like home away from home.

The owners brother owns the Reel Inn on PCH and the similarities to the menu are there but the quality and ambiance is much higher at Froggy's.

Do us all a favor and leave your pretension at home and say hello to as many people as you can when you come to froggy's.  I heard they piss in angry people's beer.

If you're tired of the LA scene, head to Froggy's in Topanga Canyon.  You'll find locals wearing "Topanga" T-shirts and regulars at the bar.  You don't have to be high to enjoy the mellow vibe and grub the tasty, home cooked seafood.

chill + fish = Chilean' like a sea bass (bad joke, but i love it)

Oh I love Froggy's. I wish wish wish they'd open for lunch so that I could go after a morning with the kids at the Theatricum. But wait...I could go to an evening show at the Theatricum and still enjoy all that is Froggy's.

Snag a table (when it gets busy they get communal) and then go order at the counter. You pass through the bar to pick up your drink and then kick it on the patio or in front of the big fireplace. You may even forget all the responsibilities that await you in the real world...at least for an hour or so.

The best part of Froggy's is the friendly casual atmosphere. Everyone there seems relaxed and happy, customers and staff alike. The place is quirky, lived-in and rustically elegant. Park on the street or in the private lot at the rear.

Order from the counter. The menu's on a board. There are also plenty of daily specials. The wine selection is represented by five or six bottles displayed on the counter ranging in price from $18-$20. You'll be given a plastic number and your meal will be brought to you.

Summers on the patio are delightful. In winter, head for the dining room with its roaring fireplace.

If the red fish chowder is on special (the chowder's red... not the fish!), be sure to order it. It's a meal in itself, filled with chunks of mild, firm fish and vegetables. Also outstanding are the fish tacos.

The Bads: Loud, obnoxious children running around patrons and tables on the patio. Sketchy service. The artichoke app was heavily doused with vinegar - not edible in large quantities.

The Goods: The fireplace and seating area - wonderful place to get comfortable and chat. The patio - I'm partial to eating outdoors and this patio is gorgeous on a warm night. The fish - generous portions and prepared well. Location - random canyon spot makes for an unusual meeting place that has a lot of charm.

Get out of the traffic and take the canyon pass to Froggy's.

I really really love Froggy's.
I live nearby, but I hadn't been since I was little. Once I went back, the atmosphere was just as I remembered- it fits snugly into the nearby nature, and the customers are all having a good time.
I was surprised, though, at the food- the salads are really enjoyable, and the calamari is amazing. i don't even like calamari.
a wonderful local hangout.

Awful service. Completely terrible. Spend 30 minutes just trying to get the attention of a waiter. Getting sushi? Expect to eat it without chopsticks, wasabi, soy sauce, or you know, the other things you usually expect with sushi, and it's EXPENSIVE to boot.

Don't go there for food, only for drinks. The bartender is great, but the waiters, especially the blond haired surfer one, are TERRIBLE.

froggy's is awesome. this from a local. it is the only place to get decent food in the canyon. i would say they are consistent about 85% of the time in terms of taste and freshness. i am a vegetarian diner, so i can actually only account for certain items. the yummy yam roll is out of this world. i get take-out every friday night lately just for those rolls. whomever designed it: BRAVO. inside of the nori is sticky rice, yam tempura, miso mayonaise, scallion and avocado. it is very indulgent. (so is the cost. at $6 a roll it's going to cost you) their ceasar salad is good and the griiled veggie tacos are good too. also, their guacamole is about 50,000 times better and fresher than icky abuelita's. seriously. and  no, i'm not 12.

you really cannot beat the ambiance at froggy's. indoors or out on their gorgeous deck, it's a magical place.

As a vegan I avoid seafood restaurants like the plague.  But we knew people who worked here, so there was a time when my family frequented Froggy's a lot.  The food is average.

Froggy's is a great alternative to the Reel Inn, Gladstone's, etc.  It's got a great Topanga vibe (super funky) and the food is tasty.  The main dining room has a great fireplace and is a wonderful place to unwind.  This is a local favorite and it's truly a gem.

The setting here is great, lovely canyon restaurant with outdoor patio that seems like it's great in the summer; we first tried this place in the late fall/winter and it was pretty cold, so no outside seating for us that time.  I had read reviews elsewhere that the main dining room gets crowded and full of kids...I did see quite a few families come through here on a weekend night, which is fine but too bad because the kids were annoying.  We decided to have a drink at the bar area first, which is kind of small, but with a great vibe and friendly bartender and patrons, and that was very pleasant, except for the brats that decided to play darts (dangerously) behind us, of course without parental supervision, and disrupted everyone.  After about 15 minutes of this crap the manager tells the kids that they aren't allowed in the bar area.  Thank you!  I was eating veggie at the time so I just had a salad which was average.  Hubby said the fish was ok.  I saw someone get a sushi appetizer which looked pretty good.  I hear the fish tacos are the thing to try here so I'll be doing that next time.  There is a lovely fireplace in the main dining room and the place is beautiful, rustic, cabin-like; the bar and outside seem to be the ticket to avoiding family take over situations.  It could be a "4" if the place could just decide what it really wants to be : eclectic canyon fish place/roadhouse/hangout/chill place, with decent food and great vibe,  or family place to bring all your kids in tow?  It doesn't successfully do both.
