I love brunch. LOVE IT. I have lived close to Frittata for a while now. For some reason I just never even thought of going. I used to go here when it was the Breakfast Club but never returned after they closed.
Today was my daughters first birthday and she requested a pancake breakfast (well...at least that is what I imagined she would request). So we decided to give Frittata a try! I was a little worried because I knew it was a small space and it was a Sunday...but we got right in!
The place is very nicely decorated with a little comfy sitting area in the back. Overall it had a great ambiance and a very welcoming environment.
Everything on the menu looked amazing. From their namesake frittatas to the french toast to the sandwiches. We had a hard time deciding what to get. I was in an egg mood so I ordered the house frittata....a wonderful blend of asiago cheese and roasted potatoes...with some other deliciousness thrown it. It was VERY tasty and hit the spot. I also ordered an english muffin (toast does not come with the meal) and although expensive the cinnamon butter and apple compote that came along was divine.
The husband ordered up the scrambled eggs...even something SO simple was delicous. Riley's pancake & fruit platter made her very happy :) (side note: this is no normal fruit platter. there was no melon to be seen - all berries, pears and other non-melon yumminess).
All in all it was a great brunch.
So..why not 5 stars? Well the wait for our food was LONG. For such a small restaurant with not that many people I was kind of surprised how long it took. Normally I would not care about the wait but being that there was a little (semi-cranky) baby waiting for the food it made me a little anxious.
Overall it was a delicous brunch ... we will be back ...but maybe next time we will leave the baby with the grandparents.
I had an Eggs Benny that was on the specials menu one Sunday morning not too long ago. It was so good I asked the waitress if there was any way I could be notified if it was being offered again. I've never in my life asked a waitress this!
I am talking, this was the BEST Eggs Benedict I've ever had the immense pleasure of eating. REALLY. It had Pancetta (Italian Bacon), spinach, on a baguette with this sauce that was just absolutely heavenly. It wasn't your typical hollandaise, they did a spin on the usual and it really was just beyond exceptional. It was one of those rare meals that was so good I had to remind myself to slow down and enjoy it. And taking the last bite was heartbreaking! If only that were on the menu permanently, I'd give the place a 5 star.
You can tell the chef puts great thought into the dishes put on the menu. The menu selections are creative, using a nice assortment of gourmet ingredients. I've had their Fritatta, the one I chose, I forget the name, but it had Greek style ingredients. Olives, feta etc. It was good, but not spectacular. I personally like their Benny's the best and if I were to recommend one menu item it would definitely be that.
The atmosphere is very cozy, sort of homespun but with a nice almost tea time feel to it. It's small and has an equally small wait staff. They are always kind and you can tell they really care about their customer with how friendly and attentive they are. They always play some sort of music, usually jazz or lounge. It's a great place for a quiet breakfast. Especially if you're a breakfast person- try it, you'll like it.
I eat at Frittata at least once a month, more if I can. I often order the house frittata, or a large fruit plate with toast. What I love about the house frittata, is its a large portion I always eat half there and take the other half home and eat it for lunch, it's like comfort food for breakfast, but doesn't leave you feeling over stuffed. It's light fluffy eggs, with potatoes and cheese folded in served with a creme fresh sauce on the side. I love the fruit plate for mornings when i want something light because they fruit changes seasonally, and it's always really fresh creative and beautifully plated. You never get the basic combo of melon and pineapple. Like in the fall it would be a mix of apples, pears, fresh berries, and an orange all perfectlly cut. It's the only fruit plate I've ever had that's had strawberry's to kumquats, mango, and boysenberry's.
Also when you order the toast, it come's with homemade flavored butter and jam's, that change flavor's based on what's in season.
The staff is incredible, I normally have Roxy waiting on me, and she's a complete joy, attentive, remembers what I order, always refills my coffee, and brings me extra cream and coffee as soon as I walk in the door. I love the homey feel, and that they hand stamp the tables.
I would recommend this place to anyone, and often take my friends here.
I have been here several times now and this is still my favorite place to get breakfast/brunch in all of metro Detroit. The frittatas here are an obvious choice and you can not go wrong. My only complaint is that I can't get a bloody with the brunch (oh well, you'll just have to load up a thermos to go!).

I've eaten here several times and always had a good meal. I love their summertime gazpacho.
The extra charge for toast or potatoes (as noted by another reviewer here) with your brunch is annoying, though.
The dining room is small, and the tables tiny...so a meal here earlier this week with four of us with full meals and sides of toast made it a bit cramped. The much better option is dining outside when that's possible in the warmer months--a leisurely brunch on the patio here can be especially nice.
Service can be great here, or so-so as it was earlier this week for us (one server for a full restaurant wasn't enough, our server was grumpy and harried, and it made for a less than pleasant time).
My friends and I consider ourselves breakfast connoisseurs and we have instituted Fancy Breakfast Thursdays (FBT) to celebrate this. Our latest excursion was to Frittata.
This quaint restaurant is located on Main Street in Clawson just south of 14 Mile Road. There is a patio in the front. The interior is cute and well decorated.
The main dishes are Frittatas, which are pretty much omelets baked in the oven. They have several standard options and then a build your own frittata. I had the build your own which has the option of several fresh ingredients and a wide variety of cheeses. I thought the food had great flavor and it was presented interestingly. However, my frittata was not very warm when it came out.
The frittatas range from $9 to $11 on average, but do not come with any sides. There are side dishes on the menu but they don't have prices next to them. The waitress asked if we wanted potatoes, toast or fruit with our meal, but neglected to tell us it was an additional charge. I found this extremely misleading. I think $10 for what is essentially a 3 egg omelet should come with something else like hash browns or toast.
My eating companion spent $25 and got a standard frittata for $10, fruit plate for $5, orange juice for $5, and coffee for $2.50, then tax. This didn't include the tip. I thought this was outrageous.
I recommend Frittata to anyone who wants a unique breakfast place with good food and unique fresh options. Just be warned that you're going to pay 4 times as much as the coney island down the street.
What a really cool place to have breakfast, and a real treat if you can sit outside. Downtown Clawson gets cooler and cooler, and Fritata is a must try.
We have been there twice, both times the wait staff was average to good, and the food was excellent. It is just one of those fun places to visit and dine for breakfast.
I dined here with my husband the morning that we got married, and it was a wonderful surprise! A small restaurant, the owners have done a superb job working with the limited space to create a fantastic ambiance. The waitress had over six tables and still managed to make everyone fresh squeezed drinks and coffee house beverages, and treat every table wonderfully. The best is the food - the chef obviously knows how to prepare a gourmet meal. Presentation is wonderful, and the food is absolutely delicious. This restaurant has a very unique European style. Nothing like it in the area! You're missing out if you don't give this place a try.

This miniscule restaurant does a brisk business, at least for Sunday brunch when I went with 5 other people. The minute our group walked in, we looked outside to see how clean the outdoor seating was because it was clear there was barely room for a group of 6 not to mention there would most definitely be a wait. Never mind, the wait was short and the staff quickly and adeptly pushed two tables together while at the same time attempting to balance one with a handful of sugar packets. It didn't work and we took it upon ourselves to steady the table while we dined.
The cappuccino is the beverage to get. The large mugs hold a generous serving with the perfect coffee-to-foam ratio. On this day too our hostess and I both ordered the raspberry. Wonderful!
The menu, as you might guess, it loaded with many variations of the namesake frittata. The house frittata was on my eye (isn't that where one should start on their first visit?) but my hostess insisted that the French Toasts du jour where they way to go. Yes, toasts, as in plural. The first was a sweet rendition, crusted with coconut and paired with macerated pineapple and strawberries and dressed with a ginger syrup, the choice or our hostess.
The second was savory which please me no end. French toast used to be my favorite breakfast item, but ever since developing my salt-tooth, French toast has been replaced by more savory items like Eggs Benedict. That day's offering was two not-sweet pieces of French toast between which was piled cooked spinach and crab meat and plated with a lightly-garlic white sauce. I took it to task very quickly and would have liked even another order.
The other two adults ordered two different variations of from the frittata offerings and while one order seemed to have been incorrect, they both looked very good. Served with deftly roasted red skin potatoes, there was plenty of food. Frittata does have a children's menu so while I can maybe see the denizens prefer that children not dine there, the restaurant is more than happy to accommodate. The children's menu is perfectly punctuated with kid-favorites silver dollar pancakes and eggs any-way, though I do question the addition of cooked spinach and demi baguette toast for children.
The room is, as noted, tiny, but it is thoughtfully painted, decorated and appointed. The art is colorful and lively and the various-veneers wood panel ceiling caught my eye as well. There was outdoor seating and while it may have been still a tad chilly, I'm also not one to sit at a table set next to the road.
Next time I get back to Michigan I will try to insist that someone get me back to Frittata, if only so I can have another perfect cappuccino and try one of their frittatas.

Starting my morning with their House Frittata is a dream come true. The red potatoes, asiago, and fresh herbs are a wondrous thing, and their use of egg as glue rather than as the focal point of the dish (the potatoes, instead, are the focal point) makes the consistency work for me.
Every aspect of the dining experience is beautifully artistic--the atmosphere and decor, presentation, aromas, and even the take-out bags, which are decorated with a bright ribbon and a sprig of freesia. The service is personal and thoughtful. An absolutely wonderful dining experience.
We ate breakfast at Frittata with another couple on a Saturday in 7/07 and *loved* it! The food was really delicious, the menu was varied, the service was quite good and the interior was charming. There was also outdoor seating, with some lovely statuary.

Wild mushroom fritatta is better than the house fritatta. Here's the problem with the house fritatta: Potatoes, in my opinion, are not good ingredients of a main dish, like a fritatta or a Thai noodle dish. A potato's consistency doesn't jive with that of an egg. Potatoes are a standalone food!!
The interior is cozy (like the other Yelper said), even cozier with the Sinatra playing. Service was friendly, coffee was better than the norm you find for breakfast.
this used to be the location where the breakfast club was back in the day. my sister and i had lunch here and it was lovely. i love what they have done with the interior--it is cozy yet modern. i especially love the pink wall! and when we walked in i ran into 2 friends from high school which was super fun as well.
the food: i had the house salad which was really yummy and impressively had artichokes and some kind of soft white cheese that was not goat, but that was good. my sister had a frittata which was good! the only thing we both didn't like is when we ordered the waitress asked my sister if she would like toast or potatoes. now the crappy thing is that it doesn't come with either and she charged us $3 for the toast! i hate when servers do that. so it ended up being $7 for my salad (worth it), $10 for sis's frittata (tad pricey), $3 for the toast (rip off).
the food was good, but i'm still annoyed by the ordering tactic.
