Friends of Patterson Park
3 reviews for Friends of Patterson Park
I dont live in Maryland anymore, but I thought I would review anyways. Its been years since I came to Patt Park! I used to live in Highlandtown a few blocks away from the park. I used to bring my son there every afternoon to the playground and duck pond. This is a great park, lots of activities and great mix of people. The park is ALWAY busy! One day you might catch a soccer game, kickball league, softball practice, even see a movie being filmed. There is also the public pool for those summer days, it gets a little crowded, but its nice to visit just to cool off. They have the basketball courts where I used to come shoot a few hoops. And did I mention the great views from the hill tops! You can pretty much see then entire Inner Harbor just by standing in the park!
Since Im from Houston, the city where we dont walk much. It was nice coming to a city like Baltimore, where you can walk for hours and not get tired or see the same thing twice. Walking past Patt Park everyday on my way to work, make life a lot more peaceful.
Im planning to visit the city in a few weeks, and I will definately stop by the park to reminisce of the good old Bmore days! And take some really good pics! If your arent from here, and plan to visit, I recommend everyone to stop by this park! This is my fav park ever.
But word of advice, the freaks come out at night! Trust me, if you are from Bmore, you know to be careful in any part of the city. Ive seen some shady business passing by here at night, but im sure you dont need me to tell you about it!
So, I'm not sure where I should post my thoughts on Patterson Park. Either "Friends" denotes a real community organization or a tie-in to Quakers. I'm posting as a "friend" in the most common noun sorta way.
This is a nice and small public park just outside the bizness district and inner harbor. This ain't no hoity-toity park with rich old people riding horses and walking showdogs. I can't stand those sorts of parks. Patterson Park is totally community friendly. On the weekends, there's plenty of street parking. There are often special events going on--we've attended the Latvian cultural festival and the Halloween pet event which I recommend. The park has a nice community feel as there are always big and small people playing football, soccer, and tennis. It's a good size with paths for walking pets. Park goers are friendly and ready to chat.
If you're a single woman, I'd recommend running in the park on the weekends. During the week, the park is a little desolate. The area near the jungle gym, though, seems hopping on the weekdays.
You gotta love Patterson Park. A great place to wander on a sunny day, gawk at the sea of BSSC shirts, trip over a dog leash, torment the ducks, hit some tennis balls, swing on the swings, brave a city pool, check out a festival or inflame your allergies. It's a little slice of green heaven populated by a diverse mix of city goers. A word of advice -- no matter how good it sounds, do not meet anyone at the duck pond after dark.
