I finally made it to try the snow cones, and they were definitely as tasty as all the hype has said. I got a flight, because I wasn't sure if I would be able to make it for anymore of the Saturdays this season, and I just had to try as many flavors as possible. Here are the flavors I chose: lemon prickly pear, lime mint, espresso mexican cane sugar (w/condensed milk drizzled on top,) blackberry lavender, and watermelon basil.
My very favorite was the watermelon basil, but lemon prickly pear, and lime mint came in at a close second. I thought I would love the espresso one, but it just turned me off. I've been weird lately with espresso and espresso flavored things, though, so I'm sure it is just me.
I did not have to wait long in line while I was there, but even if I had, the Blue Bird's garden is an excellent place to have to wait! Once I ordered, it was up very quickly, and the service was excellent.
I thoroughly enjoyed my mini-snow cones, and will definitely make it out earlier, and often, next year!
4.5 stars. 1/2 star knocked off because she's difficult to find. Although, here's a hint - First fridays (all fridays?), she's in front of Hammer Press. Saturday from 2pm-9pm, she's in a tiny little (is that redundant?) park across from Blue Bird Bistro. Good luck on your quest. Maybe the difficulty of finding her is part of the appeal?
The snow-cone gods messed with me as well. This past First Friday, I finally found my way to her and she was SOLD OUT! We tracked her down on Saturday though.
I think Jennifer J. covered all the flavors I saw, with the exception of Ginger Rose and Lime Mint. She has "Daredevil Specials", which was blueberry when we went Sat. June 06. I had the Espresso w/ Mexican Cane Sugar and the gf had Blackberry Lavender & Lemon Prickly Pear. Actually, there is also a Green Tea Pear flavor.
$3.00 for a cone.
ETA: It's $4 for the Flight of Freshness sampler.
p.s. I'm not exactly a snow-cone connoisseur, who is? But these snow-cones seem like they should get 4-5 stars. But even with a 4, she gets an extra star for bringing something unique to the table, or uh, park.
CASH ONLY!
You can't get much better than this!
Fresh, natural, organic sno-cones served by a super sweet lady out of a rad 1957 shasta trailer. Oh and for only $3 you get a yummy guilt-free treat. I had the opportunity to try the popular Espresso Mexican Cane Sugar at First Friday...totally wild!! It's super sweet & delicious....her daredevil flavor was Cucumber Melon, but she was all out. I hope to go visit on Saturday and try a flight of all the flavors.
Support local businesses!!
OK, did they write an article about it in the Star or something? We drove by Saturday around 2 and they were hella busy. It was all families and kids.
I would have had a heat stroke in that line. Get there early!

There simply are not words.
we are so lucky to have Lindsay & her magical snowcone trailer in our city. I had a flight of 5 flavors last weekend & am certain that it is happiness in little cups. The flavor combos are all so stellar that I can't pick a favorite. Very tasty & all natural. What's not to love? It's so great & can make your day.
As soon as I finish licking my lips, and drooling I'll finish this review. What can I say? Magical! I'm transformed into a child again. It's amazing how someone can take something so simple, ice, water, sugar... and elevate it to new heights. The snow cone is a childhood icon. Remember the blue lips and tongue? I can now masquerade as an adult with fancy flavors like the Pineapple Serrano. Caution, not for the faint-hearted,. Really. Maybe you'd like to try something that screams summer, like the Watermelon Basil. Perhaps you'd like to take a trip down to the other side of the border, then the Espresso Mexican Sugar Cane with milky drizzle is just the ticket. The colors are beautiful and vibrant creating a pleasing color palate of reds, yellow, purple, and pink. My husband didn't want to try one of those froo froo snow cones until he tasted the Prickly Pear, That's just tasty enough to make a Kansas farm boy a dedicated snow cone abuser. The Blackberry Lavender was the last flavor to round out my flight. This must come from the flight my brain took transporting back home to my blue tongue and sticky fingers. Thanks for the memories. I'll be back for more. If you want your mouth to take an exotic trip, or maybe just a trip down memory lane come, join us at 17th and Summit in the park. Kick your shoes off. Set a spell. Relax a while. Y'all come back now, ya hear.
