This is the best market in Austin. It has whole milk that is low pasturized, meaning the milk has cream on the top. They have a special handlers license to carry this product. Its from a local farm, OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!

This is a great little grocery store that is very near my house. Although I do love HEB it is refreshing to see a mom and pop type operation. The staff is always friendly and they have a great selection of brands you typically can't find at say Randalls.

My favorite part of Fresh Plus is the deli counter. $4.99 buys you a monster sandwich made fresh in front of your eyes how you want it! There is also a case full of pre-prepared food. I usually pick up some spring rolls or some pesto penne pasta.

I highly recommend stopping by sometime.

After reading so many positive reviews I decided to ditch Whole Foods and try this little local joint...whomp whomp whomp

    Here's the list
    20 trash bags
    1lb Boars-head turkey
    4 pack Dolma's
6 pack Sam Adams Cherry Wheat
    100 pack paper plates
Grand Total= $34.00....Holy Shit did I just move to Japan!!

The place is well stocked for it's size and has many household goods that Hippy Whole Foods does not carry but it's not worth that price. I agree with fellow Yelpers that this place employs APATHETIC ASSHOLES ie homeboy behind the deli who acted like I asked him to fuck his mother when I asked for a sample of Boars-head meat for my BF to try...fuck you loser hope you enjoy being a lifer at a grocery store! (PS that meat cost $10 per lb dick cut me a sample!!) The checkout girls were pretty unhelpful and rude as well. Sorry I don't have on my deep V and cut off jeans with fedora on a random Tuesday morning, you know I'm gainfully employed and over the age of 19.

1 star for the Dolma's some of the best I've had (not made in store). I'll stick to (The Man) Whole Foods thank you!

I am a devoted user of Meyers Clean Day Products.  I like that they're green-friendly and you have something pleasant to smell during and after cleaning.  I think I'm the only one who has noticed that the Basil scent is superior to all the others.  Seriously, if they made a perfume with this smell, I'd wear it.  Only problem is, you are lucky to find any product outside the handsoap at any other store in the area.  Yesterday I walked into Fresh Plus and all of this changed for me.  Not only do they have the handsoap, they have the laundry detergent and countertop spray AND dishwashing liquid all in the best fragrance in the entire world. I hope you understand how amazingly wonderful this is, because it. is. fabulous!!

Now that I just wrote an entire paragraph raving about one product, I really like the variety of items in the store.  Its a cute little neighborhood grocery with friendly staff that carries just about anything you might need.    I wish it were closer to me :)

I remember coming to Fresh Plus when I was a kid because my future-stepdad lived practically next door.. and they had ice cream treats my mom couldn't find at the regular grocery store. Fast forward to around today and my working downtown self sometimes needs a full service grocery store without the crowds at Whole Foods.

Fresh Plus has that quiet, somewhat nostalgic old-time grocery feel. It isn't a megamart, nor would I classify it as one of those smaller organic stores that seem to be popping up left and right. This is just an old neighborhood grocery store that has seen years and years go by- and you can feel it when you walk in.

The produce section is small, but full. The aisles are kept neat and tidy. If I'm looking for a quick meal, I can find it here and be out the door in a timely manner. It has never been crowded when I've come in.

There are people who shop there who look like they've shopped there for years and years, which is pretty cool.

The only drawback that I can tell is the price points on everything. Yea, it is kind of a convenience grocery store and so everything will be a little bit pricier than if you were to drive a few miles to an HEB or something. However, I do recommend it if you're just wanting to pick up something quick for lunch or after work if you live downtown.

Fresh Plus is a neat little neighborhood grocery store in Clarksville. Yes, a lot of the stuff here is expensive, more so than at HEB, Randall's, or even WFM and CM, but this is a local business, so I try to support it. They do have some good prepared foods, like their breakfast tacos for 99-cents, and their really good coffee, which is either 69-cents for a small or a whopping 99-cents for a large, and this is really good coffee!

My favorite, though, has to be the chocolate cake. I think it's called Jan's homemade chocolate cake, or something like that. Make sure you don't buy the Hershey's one. Anyway, they sell it by the pound, already prepacked in those little boxy plastic containers. Take a look at the label. You can actually pronounce the names of the ingredients, like flour, chocolate, cream, sugar. Earlier this year during the Spring, I was obsessed with this cake, to the point where I had to have it everyday. It's so delicious, simple, and harkens back to a bygone era of simple pleasures being found in the simplest of things.

When they have sales on certain products, and you combine it with coupons, you can score deals. For the most part, though, I've just usually bought breakfast and the chocolate cake. I've also gotten the occasional emergency onion or bulb of garlic for something I'm cooking....super convenient since I live only a few blocks away. Most of the people who work here seem to like it, and for the most part, they're friendly and courteous. That's always a huge plus for me.

    My favorite things:
$0.69 or $0.99 for small/large coffee (good coffee)
$0.99 for breakfast taco (egg/bacon/cheese, or some other combo)
Homemade Chocolate Cake: totally worth ruining your diet for

Love this place. It is a good neighborhood grocery store. They have an amazing gluten free selection which I really appreciate. They also have great wines. They are over priced when it comes to produce but I can tolerate it because the are a small, local store.. plus it is convenient. So lucky to have this in my neighborhood!

I'm loving the produce section and Fresh Plus more and more. I find it tends to be cheaper than HEB, and more often grown in the USA. I'm all for supporting my Mexican brothers south of the border, but It's still important to support those products that are still hecho en estados unidos.

Well now I know I'm home.

Pleasant surprise #1:  I'm 7 houses from here -- Wow!!

Pleasant surprise #2:  The selection.  MORTADELLA!!!  I've been craving it for a week and I'm eating a mortadella/havarti sandwich for fuel to type this review.  Also, I finally found Ben/Jerry's Colbert inspired flavor Americone Dream.  I've wanted to try that since living in Orlando.  They also have escargot (I didn't buy it, Jessie).  All kinds of finger-food options.  All kinds of food/food options.  Great cheeses.   Olives.  Chips.  Soups.  Pet food. Vitamin section. Big wine selection. Great produce options (I got the biggest apples I've ever seen).  Beautiful flowers (I'll upload a pic), etc, etc, etc.

Pleasant surprise #3:  Everyone who works there.  Each person welcomed me to the neighborhood.  I think the owner was the one that shook my hand and introduced himself to me telling me that anything I didn't see there to let him know and he'd order it.  Another man offered me a cookie (it was damn good cookie).  Another one told me that they are working on their vitamin/health products aisle and if I had any suggestions that they would welcome the input.  The cashier was a total sweetheart too.

I left here feeling total affirmed that I made the right move to Clarksville and truly believe that I'm finally home.

Great grocery, very nice wine selection, excellent cheese selection, but the kicker is the prepared food. Wonderful gumbos and posoles, soul-comforting King Ranch casserole, fresh pesto pasta salads, soups and stews to die for. Also excellent sandwiches. Very friendly staff. Love this place...

It's a little pricey.  I mean, we're talking about $3.99 for a small bottle of Mango Tango juice.  C'mon.

But I love a neighborhood grocery store... and they carry fancy cheese, wine, beer, n whatnots.

Oh, and the deli made me a sandwich yesterday that I almost wanted to rub all over my body.  It was the size of my head.  And I ate every last bit of it.

    Quintessentially Clarksville.

It's a tiny place stuffed with really good people, and everything/everyone is somewhat healthy.  The wine section is small when compared to a large chain grocer, but what they got is actually pretty good stuff!  I may more often be willing to pay for the glass on Wrongo Dongo or Lucien Albrecht at Wink (down the street) but if so inclined I can get the bottles for about $6 and $23 respectively here.  Since I refuse to own a car, all of my staple items come from this place, even light bulbs!  The zucchini is far too overpriced (when something is almost double that of Whole Foods, there's a slight problem in my book) but heck, it's next door, and I just ran out - so why not?

It's pretty much everything you'd go to Whole Foods/Central Market for, without the extra options.  Prepared foods (fresh soups, hummus, sandwiches), organic groceries, overpriced sauces, and even coffee beans.  It's really got the best of everything you need, and yes, this place carries Sofia (champagne in a can, though sadly, only in the 4-packs and not ready-to-go chilled, individual) (cough, cough - hint, hint)

The staff is adorable, I'm always thinking one of the following three things in there:

"Wow! She's so cute, I want a shirt like hers!"

"Wow!  He's so cute, I want to put my number on the back of this receipt!"

"Wow!  That's so cute, you people are actually offering to carry out my one little grocery bag containing a wine bottle and an onion?"

Friendliest of the neighborhood places, definitely a favorite if you live close by.

Fresh Plus West Lynn is convenient market that I frequently stop by on my way home from work to grab an ingredient for dinner or, mostly, just a bottle of wine. They don't have everything you need (recently I stopped in for green beans and left empty handed) and it's priced just above your Randall's which is priced just above your HEB. But, it's very convenient, the staff is nice (they're oddly young), there's rarely a long line, and parking is close to the front door.

They have a nice deli that I use to go to frequently for breakfast tacos or a bagel and coffee or for lunch they have sandwiches and soups. All of their food is good, in fact I'd add their tacos to my top 10 taco list...if I had one.

In general though I mostly just stop in and grab a bottle of wine. They have a better selection than the "convenience store" in my neighborhood and it's not extremely over priced.

Check it out sometime...it's surprisingly convenient as far as grocery stores go in this town!

Horrible, terrible, atrociously bad customer service, overpriced food, lame produce.  From reading these reviews it seems a lot of people are enticed by the pseudo hipster staff in their cliche Urban Outfitters stylings (with matching attitudes).  Guess what, I wear tight rock t-shirts and canvas shoes too from time to time and it doesn't make me any better at running a grocery store. There are a few people who work here that are genuinely nice.  The one dude that looks like Shia LaBeouf behind the deli counter is awesome and friendly.  But too many staff members are self-pitying and self-important.

Once I bought potato salad from the deli and the potatoes were RAW.  Not a little undercooked.  HARD.  It was so bad, I actually returned it, even though that's something I never do with food.  The guy behind the counter "joked" that "some woman" bought three pounds of it for a party she was hosting.  Another victim of Fresh Plus.

I only go to this store because I live within walking distance from it and it's a hell of a lot more convenient than driving to corporate owned Randall's.   But I'm so sick of being treated like a piece of shit that I'm actually considering going to an inconveniently located chain grocer instead of one that's nearby and locally owned.

While I love the idea of Fresh Plus Grocery, they actually lost me a little on execution.  It's a smallish local grocery tabbed along West Lynn, and based on its surroundings, I was a amped to be heading in.  I figured there might be a great chance to unearth some indie or boutique, possible eclectic items, and while there was some of that kinda thing here, there also was a great deal of the standard boiler plate big box type fare.

They do have, from the looks of it, a decent wine selection, so that's cool, and Lisa A's right -- pricing here tends somewhere in between Randall's and the Central Markets of our town, and the setting is a little bit charming. I could see how if I lived in the neighborhood I might learn how to ignore the things I didn't care much for and emphasize those that were easy to get fired up about.  But the kicker for me was the fussy slacker guy (an oxymoron?  perhaps) who was at best disinterested, at worst unfriendly at checkout.  A little friendliness goes a long way by my estimation of making an average stop better.  Here's hoping that guy's an aberration.

Oh the good ol' neighborhood fresh plus. Here's a list of the most common uses.

1.) The Dinner Party/Any Party: I probably forgot something at HEB or Wherever I was and I want to get whatever the hell it is fast and easy, and usually a little more expensive.

2.) The Quick Lunch\Dinner: Just try their deli and already made items like the enchiladas(!!!). They're usually pretty generous and the guys at the deli are a combo of slightly disgruntled and amused by the oddballs who generally shop there.

3.) The Too lazy to go to HEB or some other place: This place is only a few blocks away so when it's 5 o'clock and I don't feel like dealing with the traffic, the the crowds, and the check out time that is longer than both of those combined.

It's a cool place, they've got mostly everything you need, and there's no crowds all for a slightly, but usually worth it, price.

I like Fresh Plus.  A place like Fresh Plus really does improve the quality of life in a neighborhood.  When so many other crappy places like Wal-Mart, CVS etc.. are ruining neighborhoods.

They are a bit overpriced on certain things... but that's the price of convenience I suppose.

Really, the best thing about Fresh Plus is that they have things you can't get anywhere else.  And at the same time, an over all great selection of quality products.

For example: Smoked Lamb Chops... wonderful... makes a great cold lamb sandwich

Extensive wine, beer, coffee, cheese, meat selections.

I'm cool with fresh plus. they are near my house, the staff is friendly. the prices are about what i'd expect for a small grocer. i wish they were open later, but what're you going to do? I can't ask everyone to conform to my crazy hours.  i'd buy tons more of their produce if it were cheaper.

i don't get the complaints about the staff attitude. they've always been plenty nice to me. they don't seem any different than any other younger person i've seen spaced out from being paid to stand in a three foot space for a few hours to work a register. turns out, working a register sucks when your young.

Such a quirky grocery store.  Like maybe the only one I've ever been to where there's a rule that at least one employee must be wearing BluBlocker™ sunglasses at all times, and where there are multiple muchie aisles.  The community board out front is also a nice touch.

If you're in the 'hood, it's the most reliable place to get your grocery basics-- bleach, inorganic cereals, and the like.  They also have the organic stuff; just letting you know there are options.

As others have noted, the store actually has a community vibe to it.  In a world gone so awry that pro golfers get more tail than awkward, directionless, and slightly off-kilter me, that sense of community makes this jaded reviewer happy.

Before I begin, I'll say that Fresh Plus does it's job. It's a neighborhood grocery store which caters to it's tax base. It's a clean establishment with staying power, and is incredibly convenient for anyone living in clarksville.

The Deli and Butchery is by far the high point: Fresh, tasty, and just higher quality.

Produce: Well, a store as small as this can't nail everything. I wouldn't go there to find your Pummelos or Plantains. If you need an apple, some lettuce, sage, rosemary, and thyme? You'll be in good shape. They've got a reasonable wine selection, pretty solid beer lineup, and the rest of the store is a little hit or miss, but is definitely a good source for getting something quick if you can stand not to be too picky or have a broad idea in mind of what you want.

The staff is, well, a mixed bag. They're all nice enough, if they're mentally there. I dig the eccentricity, but deadpan is just not a good luck for someone working in the service industry. Fresh plus keeps it funky, which is tight, but seriously, at least pretend you're cognizant at work.

All in all, I'm glad it's there, would probably miss it if it weren't, and will keep going back no matter what I think of it.

2 stars because it's a grocery store and they generally have what you're looking for, even though it's WAY overpriced. -3 stars because they're assholes. Tonight i had the luxury of sitting in my car while my wife ran in one minute until closing to grab a couple bottles of wine. She had no idea the looks and shit talk she was getting behind her back. I, however, saw it all. Time she walked out: 9:04. There are  just way too many choices for the attitude. Fresh Plus, you lost me. I'll NEVER go back.

I am a huge fan of Fresh Plus grocery store!  When I first moved into the neighborhood, I was disappointed to think that Randall's was my closest grocery option.  (After all, who doesn't love Whole Foods Whole Paycheck prices, but without the organic fare and samples?)

And then I discovered Fresh Plus--a neighborhood oasis of nutritious, delicious eats.  It is just the right sized for frequent, quick shopping trips as a grocery store, and has an awesome prepared food section as an added plus!  Although prices tend to run slightly higher than H-E-B (and I want to stress that the difference is small),  this tends to be because they carry high-quality food items, rather than bargain, over-processed crap.  But they've got all your basics and a nice selection of specialty and gourmet items as well.

The staff is friendly, helpful, and chill.  There are never long lines.   And, best of all, the whole place has a real neighborhood, community feel.  People know each other and stop to chat in the aisles about the weather, Austin events, family, whatever.  I think I would shop here for the vibe alone.

I'm a regular of the prepared foods, they have really good sandwiches, i always get their chicken salad sandwhich and they also have yummy "southwest egg rolls" that are more like mini bean burritos. The people who work there are so nice too. The groceries themselves are pricey though, but it's to be expected at a mom and pop joint. and so worth it if you don't want to fight traffic to get to a big box store

I wish I had a place like this in my neighborhood. Organic food. Small without dealing with the size of HEB, Whole Foods, Central Market. It's a neighborhood grocery store/convenient store which was convenient for me and my friend when we shopped for some food when we were in a hurry to go to her place and watch the NFL Draft. I noticed though the doors were not the sliding doors which can be problematic for people with carts. That neighborhood should consider themselves lucky for having a cool grocery store that is locally owned.

four stars is probably too high. three stars is probably too low.

i do love this place, so i'm erring on the high side.

i've lived in the hood for about 10 years,
and go in no less than once a week.
    usually more.
so on the short side, that's 500 visits.
    it's about time i wrote a review.

    yes, the staff is young.
yes, the prices are higher than HEB.
but you can get in and out in 60 seconds if you know what you want and where it is.

as lisa said, parking is right by the door.
i have to add that while nicole states they don't have organics...
    they do sometimes.
    and for just somethings.
    most often local organic lettuce.
they do a fine job of carrying & labeling what's local.

the sammiches at the deli in the back are solid.
not awe inspiring, but solid. soup is pretty ok.
they have a thai noodle salad that rocks.
it's not always there, but it's always good when it is.

but what really sells me on this joint is the smoked meat section.
it's back in the back corner. by the non-smoked meats.
    the meats they smoke vary.
there are usually some chicken parts, sausages, and pork cuts.
    all smoked. all delicious.
sometimes, they even have turkey breast.
    for real turkey breast.
not the pressed, formed, lunch meat kind -
on the bone, with the skin. fo' real.

ok, maybe it's the meat that didn't sell and then they smoke it and try to sell it again... who knows?
    i don't.
    and i don't care.
    it's freakin good.
    and it's cheap.

you can get some nice smoked pork ribs.
reheat in your oven at home = delicious bbq dinner.
    and the smoked chicken thighs!
    i think they're around 50 cents each.
you can eat 'em like they are
or give your burritos that little extra pa-ziz-ow.

the do have a decent wine selection
and enough mexican beer to keep me happy.
(they are never out of tecate or limes)

an old friend worked there a loooong time ago
and she called it "fresh plus a few days"
so yeah, check your expiration dates and you should be ok.

So convenient! The best option for downtown dwellers who don't want to fight the crowd at Whole Foods or drive all the to HEB or get crappy overpriced food at Randall's. I often go early evening to pick up missing ingredients for dinner. The parking is close to the door, the store is small-sih and the quality of produce and meat is on target for this type of grocery.

I have now tried the in-house smoked salmon and it is amazing.   I got some smoked chicken and made chicken salad and it was great.  Thinking about it for lunch, now that I just typed that.  Yum.  They also have smoked hamburgers, steaks, sausages, chicken and turkey

i like fresh plus because it's not whole foods.

they remember you, it's not crowded, park just outside the door.

i see the same employees every time i go - they order special things for me, they stock nice, natural cleaning products and toiletries. and a very hard-to-find organic, vegetarian dog food and treats.

    good wine & beer selection.

the produce leaves ALOT to be desired.
deli and meat department is ok.

i really enjoy the people they employ - both as checkers and baggers.
    really nice.
and will help you out to your car, if needed.

they even fawn over my dog and watch him if i need to run in while out on a walk.

NOTE : they have a great bulletin board place outside in between fresh plus and cippolina.
    post at your own discretion.

ps Some of the checkers may wear sunglasses, or other attire that makes them feel like a real human being and not a number, but they are just having some fun to make the standing on your feet all day bearable, and they may be quiet at times, but they do care, (perhaps they are thinking about something perplexing, or nuclear physics).. and one humorless customer does not a random sampling of otherwise happy shoppers make. So ignore her. This is a great store for people with dementia or other memory issues (from the 60's)

fresh plus provides everything i could possibly want: its three blocks from my place, more than 50% of the liquids in the store is alcoholic, and they have really good prepared foods.

the beer is selection is really pretty good for a store of its size. it almost always carries all of the various shiners and it has a nice selection of super-sized exotic beers, like chimay and duvel (unfortunately no gulden draak or delirium nocturnum).

im a big fan of the prepared foods. its like home-cooking, except i just bought it at a store. their macaroni salad used to be the shit, but lately its just been above average. but their enchiladas, lasagna, and jambalaya are consistently really good.

the hours aren't as great as other places, i think they close at 9pm most nights. but thats probably just the reality of a smaller local grocery store.

considering the few downsides to this otherwise quaint store, i'd probably rate fresh plus 4stars. but they get the extra star because shopping there makes me feel like less of a douchebag than at whole foods.

This is my neighborhood store, and I love it. They grind their meat fresh daily, and I can attest that it just plain tastes better than what you find at large grocery chains. In fact, I only buy beef from Fresh Plus now. They carry my fave brand of local hummus, as well as a good selection of produce for a small store. Some of the prices are higher, but its way more convenient than the large chains! the staff is always nice and helpful.

The chicken salad sandwich in the deli rules. Also have to mention the great beer/wine selection.

Staff is mainly kids, but they are friendly most of the time.

Much better quality meat selection than the bigger chains (except whole foods and central market). Stuff is a little overpriced in general but you have to expect that from a neighborhood establishment. Beer is competitively priced (cheaper than the aforementioned chains). Good deli with some really good sandwiches (if they're made by the right guy).   And the lines are rarely long, which is not often the case at other places.

We always go to Fresh Plus when we need a few things and don't want to go to one of the big stores. (We never really want to go to the big stores but sometimes it's necessary for bulk items.)  Fresh Plus always has a great selection of food. They were the only ones in town that used to supply my husband's favorite pizza. (Please bring the Healthy Choice French Bread Pizza back!)  I always get the bowtie pasta with pesto and smoked chicken and fresh veggies, and they taste absolutely amazing. The cakes are super delicious too. You could never get anything at the HEB deli cases that even remotely matches the quality of Fresh Plus' deli food.

What's the big deal about the so-called hipsters? Give these people a chance and stop judging them based on what they're wearing. The people who work here are very nice and I've never encountered any attitude. Once, my husband's debit card wouldn't work and he didn't have cash. Instead of making him put the groceries back (it was just a few items), the checker said he could just take it and pay the store back another time. My husband did eventually pay them back. They also almost always ask how things are going and offer to carry our groceries out to our car.

I'd much rather come here, get in and out fast with some yummy food, and probably hear some good music over the store's intercom radio then search for parking and battle the crowds at HEB.

For the most part Fresh Plus is rad.  I love the location and the employees.  I do not like the prices on crackers.  I do like the thick fresh cut slices of bacon.  I do like the big green "great deal" tags they put on stuff that's cheaper than the other things in it's class.  It's mostly awesome, but sometimes the prices are a bit much.
