The food here is consistently tasty, and has been saving my most recent attempt at frugality on days when I oversleep and don't have time to pack a lunch. That happens a lot, so this is important. The vegetables and cheese taste fresh. It feels like wholesome eating, not a grease festival.
I also noticed the other day that the kitchen looks REALLY clean. And, usually, so does the dining area. Canal Street isn't exactly a super clean place, so this earns them some points. It's nice that you can sit down and spread out at pretty much any time except the lunch rush. If it is busy, the service is quick, and watching the dude with the straw hat is pretty fun while you wait.

This is like the one out of the THREE Mexican joint in the area... It's really not that bad. I remember the first day when I set foot inside the store, I couldn't stop laughing for days when I saw bunch of Asians running the place lmao.
But anyways, when I first saw this place I really thought bunch of Mexicans were running the place but, damn I sure was wrong there. Don't get me wrong tho, the food is ok, they are inexpensive food, and you get a decent portion.
Talking about the workers... That asian guy who always wears the hat amuse me all the time... lmao.
alas, if you broke as hell go for plastic meat tacos and enjoy. lol
There's not a lot of fast food (but not Burger King) options near the Tribeca Cinemas, and I'm quite fond of these little places. This is your standard Fresco Tortilla. The menu numbering is slightly different than others I frequent, but the same items are within the same relative ranges, so I was able to easily find my black bean and cheddar tortilla and jack cheese with jalapeno quesadilla. No beverage, and you're at the table for about $4.
They didn't wrap the quesadilla in foil, which was odd, but the jack was still well melty, and the peppers tangy. The bean and cheese tortilla was exactly as it should be, but I do like the cheddar melted a tad more. Good eats. It struck me that the tortillas were slightly thicker and chewier than at other spots, but I could be mistaken. Good to know it's there!
I know, I know. The people that own this place are asian and not mexican.
Doesn't make the food any less tasty... or less cheap.
Asian tacos here I come!!!

you know, i would have been so so so excited to have a decent burrito in my neighborhood for less than $10. and based on some reviews i thought this just might be it. (note i'm saying decent, not extraordinary)
but alas, it was not to be. i guess i really do have to fly back to san francisco each and every freakin time i want a decent burrito.
i'll probably order from this place again anyway because it's cheap, it's easy, it's delivery. but who the hell FRIES the chicken in a chicken burrito? i asked for cilantro and onions in the burrito and i got scallions. i suppose they figured that really scallions are the genetic equivalent of a cross between onions and cilantro so they'd just cut some corners and use that.
oh yeah, and i got pico de gallo in the burrito too, but they said they couldn't put it inside, only on the side. totally weak.
all that said, for the $5 it was it tasted decent as long as i took most of the chicken out and pretended i was eating something other than a burrito. maybe next time i just stick to rice and beans and i'll be better off.

Extremly good and CHEAP mexican food. they miss the "real" corn tortillas and mexican sauce but i suppose this is too much to ask. Very very good, it made me feel at home. The combos are the best option. The place is not so nice, it's better to take away or make delivery.
