i love this boutique flower shop right on busy cambridge street in the mass general area. they do everything right here, and this would be the only place i would recommend to buy flowers for someone you are visiting in the mass general facility.
all their expansive selection of flowers and plants are fresh, and will last long after you buy them. prices here are reasonable as well. sometimes exotic flowers are placed outside on the sidewalk for a bargain. they had the lowest price for evergreen wreaths over the holiday season. dress them up with a bow, et voila! they have knowledgeable and friendly staff at hand. and last but not least, they really know how to present their wares -- even the $3 bunch of daffodils was wrapped tastefully in chocolate brown tissue paper with a straw tie. -

How has no one written a thing about this little place?
First of all, they have Birds of Paradise- I love exotic flowers. Second, they have four different types of Tulips.
This place has a very chic selection of flowers and equally chic arrangements. If you are looking for flowers bordering on art I would say this is the place to go. Their selection of exotics is pretty good and they will special order flowers for you. Now, the problem- they are quite expensive.
Although the quality of flowers is very high, so are the prices. But hey, I guess fresh flowers are kinda a luxury.
Bottom Line: Save this place for special occasions, unless you have money to burn. -

Fresco is a beautiful florist right by MGH. Definitely my vote over the gift shop in the hospital. The woman that I've dealt with has been very nice. Tell her what colors you're looking for and she'll put together an amazing bouquet (check out the pic I posted). She's put together arrangements of flowers that I didn't even think would go together, but worked out perfectly. Super fragrant, long lasting, and not as expensive as you'd think for the area.

THIS PLACE IS WONDERFUL.
I have bought many flowers from them, they also did the flowers for my wedding.
Extremely accommodating, honest business. Great flowers, no weepy/half wilted/dead flowers here. Don't let the small store fool you, they have EVERYTHING, lots of great ideas for arrangements as well.
Ask for Ron he is great. -

My friend just sent me flowers for my birthday from here and they look just like something you would get from Winstons but I'm sure for the fraction of the price. They are gorgeous!

For those who are considering this flower shop, please look else where! Believe me, you'll be happy you did!
First of all, I placed an order for a dozen roses on 2/4 to be picked on 2/13. I needed to reschedule my pick up and called the store to reschedule. I gave them my information and put me on hold to look for my order. After 25 mins, they couldn't find my order and told me that they'll call me back while they look for it. After 10 mins, the person I spoke with called me back and told me that she can't find my order but she'll call other stores to verify and that she'll call me back. After 30 mins of waiting and no phone calls, I called back and she tells me to call the other store because it's not at their current location. It would have been nice for the person the store to tell me that earlier. So after about an hour or so of calling all their shops. Never once in my life have I had to spend 1 HOUR to reschedule something!!! Based off that experience alone already made me reconsider cancelling.
Now, the roses I ordered. Their so-called "premium" roses are a joke! You would think that the roses I ordered would be big long stem roses... think again! I think you would be better off with the dozen roses you buy at Shaw's. (At least it won't be 4x the price they charge.) The bulbs of the roses were probably at best 1" in diameter and some of them bulbs already show signs of wilting.
High prices... poor service. Not something you want at your neighborhood florist.
