What a pleasant surprise this Inn was beautiful.  We had a room equipped with a computer and complimentary Internet access.  Coffee and Tea was available right outside our rooms at all times.  The breakfast in the morning was terrific and had something for everyone.  The location was perfect, we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to and take the trolley for those places just a little further out.

My wife and I stay here at least once a year. It is her favorite Charleston hotel. The service is gracious and friendly - a bit of the bubbly on arrival, cheese and wine in the late afternoon, etc. The rooms are quite large and attractive. Drawbacks are no pool or an excellent in-house restaurant. The latter is not a major problem though as their are many wonderful eateries in the city.

We check in early so our rooms were not ready.  But Jennie was great and assured us our rooms would be ready by three and they were.  She was very personable, remembered our names and gave us a great dinner suggestion after we told here where we had made reservations for our 3 day trip.

The hotel is in the historic district about two blocks from the water but it is centrally located.

Upon check in they give you a glass of champagne.

Our room at 250.00 per night was large.  It had a private balcony, computer, refrigerator, flat screen TV, table and two chairs.

The air-conditioning worked properly along with a ceiling fan.

The bathroom was large and clean.

The room was updated, clean and had good furnishings.

The hotel itself was top notch, clean, a lot of public seating areas and the staff was friendly and attentive.

They served a cold breakfast, along with wine and cheese at night and cookies and milk in the evening.

Coffee and tea are available in the room hallways all day  along with lemonade and other juices in the lobby.

This place is well worth the money for the quality of rooms, amenities, staff and location.

    Give it a try.

My bridesmaids selected this hotel for my bachelorette. We had a suite for 4 women and it was perfect with the balcony and sitting room.  There was plenty of space.  There was also a pillow buffet but the "gourmet" pillow selections weren't very impressive and even oddly shaped.  However, I digress.

I loved the patio that we could relax with wine and snacks later in the evening and it overlooked the market.  The Inn also served a continental breakfast and delivered it to your room for free.  Champagne and lady fingers, a cheese and wine reception, and warm cookies and milk?, each day.

The concierge and bellhops were super helpful and nice.

The Inn does not have a pool, but that's alright.

The Inn is located in a centralized location and is therefore in a good walking distance to the touristy destinations and historic downtown.

Overall, I loved it and this definitely added to my wonderful bachelorette weekend!

Worthy of a staycation or vacation!

The French Quarter Inn is truly top notch! Greeted with a glass of champagne and educated about the high-quality guest benefits:
-complimentary breakfast bar including fresh pastries, bagels & more
-daily complimentary beverage service (lemonade, water, tea, coffee)
-daily complimentary snack service (Jelly Bellys, M&Ms, Nature Valley Granola Bars, Special K Snack Bars)
-daily local wine & cheese tastings
-coffee & tea bar on every floor
-multiple sitting areas (outside, fireplace, window, etc)
    -free WIFI
-discounted tourist activities (def experience the carriage ride!)
-central to restaurants, Harbor, King St, and other hot spots!

Our room was gorgeous ($145)! (see pictures!) Service was unobtrusive... All-in-all, a complete escape!

My fiance was adamant that I give French Quarter a five-star yelp review as soon as we got home.  We loved our stay at this hotel.  Centrally located, you can walk everywhere in Charleston.  You are greeted with a glass of champagne upon check-in and have a wine and cheese reception every afternoon on the veranda.  Our room was beyond spacious.  The staff was amazing and were could not have been more pleased with our visit.

Best...hotel... ever.  This is right in the heart of downtown Charleston.  It's a boutique hotel, so a lot of interesting amenities are included like a pillow menu, breakfast, wine and cheese reception in the afternoon, snacks all day and milk and cookies at night.

Everything about this hotel was stellar.  We arrived at least 2 hours before check in but they had a room available immediately.  The room was clean and spacious with a computer with free internet!  Maybe I just don't stay in hotels that often, but I have never been to a hotel that has complimentary internet access in every room.

The wine and cheese hour is delightful, especially when spent outside on the beautiful patio.  There is a large array of different wines, a few different types of cheese, crackers and fruit.  Champagne and lady fingers are also available.

The milk and cookie hour wasn't spectacular, but hey, it's free milk and cookies.  Good enough for me.

Part of the reason my trip to Charleston was so wonderful was because of this hotel.  I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

In planning my first trip to Charleston, and my first vacation in a long time, I became, well, obsessed, with finding a great place to stay. The French Quarter Inn didn't disappoint. The location was excellent, and the service was exceptional. My favorite part though was the afternoon wine and cheese. Although not normally my style (except for the wine and cheese part), it was nice to be able to come back after a long day of exploring, and be able to settle in next to the fire with a glass of wine and some of that yummy spreadable Boursin. The pillow menu was great too!

We stayed there a while ago but it was nice, the location is great for access to Charleston. The look and feel of the hotel is elegant yet quaint (not another chain hotel).

When we where there they had a wine and cheese hour right after dinner time and they had little gatherings throughout the day.

The staircase is beautiful and the service was top notch. If you are coming into town a great place to stay.

Parking was an issue. They have a valet service which you will need to use otherwise good luck.

My parents hosted a welcome party here that was catered by Tristan. We had one of the meeting rooms upstairs that was pretty nondescript. We were more excited about the large patio/balcony that would have been the perfect party spot.

Unfortunately the heat and humidity did not allow us to be outside, so we were all kind of crammed in to the meeting room. It wasn't anything bad or offensive, just nothing special.

The main entrance to the hotel is very attractive, with a large spiral staircase in the main foyer. I really liked the iron work on it.

+1 star for the M&Ms and Jelly Belly's they've always got upstairs.

Very nice hotel. Stayed here for work several weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Living in mtp I wasn't sure if it was really "worth it" but since it was the company's dime...who cares..the room was well appointed and pretty typical for any 5 star business hotel. But for a pure traveler, you can't beat the locale being in the heart of downtown Charleston amongst all the restaurants and such. Also, take care of the hotel staff and they'll take care of you, assuring your visit is complete. Make sure to step outside the hotel and take in Charleston's historic nightlife as well.
Absolutely great spot to vacation or stay for business.

We stayed at the French Quarter Inn during our weekend in Charleston and it was very nice. We had a huge suite and they had a lot of thoughtful amenities that were perfect. The location could not have been better. It is right on Market street and our NOLA style balcony overlooked all the action. Our suite had a living room, big bathroom, huge bedroom, ceiling fans, fridge, plasma TVs, safe, iron and board and lots of storage space. I really liked having all that space and you can't beat the balcony, you may want to upgrade for it. The FQI had fresh coffee on every level. They also had coffee, tea, lemonade and water in the lobby at all hours. Breakfast was included with our package, which were bagels, muffins, pastries and fruit. There are a lot of beautiful outdoor spaces and patios where you can relax. Cheese and wine tastings are complimentary every evening. Milk and cookies were laid out each night. The lobby also had jelly beans and m+ms for the sugar fix.

While it was nice, there is still room for improvement. Our AC broke down one night, which left our room quite stuffy. We also had to ring the phone off the hook and basically wake someone up to check us out and get our car to make our morning flight. Not something I want to deal with on a travel day.

The location is really the big selling point for this hotel.  If you want to spend a few days walking around downtown Charleston, just valet park your car and stay here.  You're right next to the market, close to tons of restaurants, and just a block or so from the water.

The hotel itself is lovely, although we didn't do too much wandering around.  We had breakfast in our room every day but they put a nice spread out in the lobby as well (eat the pastries, I'm still craving the coconut one every morning!).  Our room itself was huge!  Between the bedroom and the sitting room you could have run sprints.

The pillow menu is really neat, we particularly liked what we referred to as the "NASA pillow" (I think the menu said it was designed by someone at NASA).  The thing weighed like 5 pounds and could make a deadly weapon in a pillow fight.  We kept missing the wine and cheese tasting in the evening because we were out enjoying the city, but we did get to have milk and cookies ;)  They also offered us a glass of champagne upon check in.

This place is pricey but if you can swing it and spoil yourself for a few days it's a great place to stay.

We stayed in Charleston, SC for a week last fall, and part of what made that week so wonderful was our stay at the French Quarter Inn. This is a lovely hotel with fantastic staff and service. We felt pampered and taken care of all week! And if you're particular about your pillows, they have a pillow menu. Yes, you can choose what kind of pillow you sleep on!  A continental breakfast is delivered to your room each morning. Also, there's a wine and cheese reception each afternoon.  Very decent.

The FQI is located not far from the waterfront, so it's quite easy to walk around historic Charleston and pop back to the hotel to freshen up for dinner. There's an Italian place nearby called Cintra that has super martinis, as well as an Irish pub across the street. We loved it!

The French Quarter Inn may be on the high end when it comes to price. But believe me when I say that the price is well worth every penny! For those that follow my reviews, you all know I'm a "foody". So anywhere that offers free Jelly Bellies and M&M's 24 hours a day 7 days a week, along with a glass of champagne upon check-in, wine and cheese reception every afternoon on the veranda, and milk and cookies in the lobby every evening.  Has an automatic vote of approval. What had me giving them a five star review was the fact that service and rooms were just as amazing. My Husband and I went for my birthday and decided to splurge a little more than we usually do. Butwhen you are offered a free complimentary continental breakfast delivered to the room, "what more can you ask for?" It was definitely a no brainer. While having our breakfast on the private balcony looking down onto the carriages and market, the housekeepers entered the room (without us knowing), and serviced the bedroom, bath and front room thoroughly. By the time we were finished with our meal, we had returned to a room that seemed as if we had just checked in. We joking call them our room ninjas.  I could go on and on about the "little extras" that adds to the most wonderful experience I've had in Charleston, but I wouldn't want to run the surprise...

My wife and I stayed here one night during our honeymoon, in the fall of 2008.  The staff was attentive and polite, the room was large and immaculate, and the view from our balcony was spectacular.  My wife especially enjoyed the pillow menu, while I liked the linens and the waffle-pattern bathrobe.  The manager gave us a bottle of champagne for our celebration, which was a nice kickoff to a night on the town.  I have no complaints about the French Quarter Inn, and look forward to staying there again.  There are about a dozen excellent dining options within walking distance.
