What else can I say other than it's an AMAZING weekend full of art, wine, food and fun! Loved the interesting vendors, classic goodies to eat, did I mention alcohol? Just kidding.

It's so sweet to see that the FUSD high schools still have booths that are worked by the students as a fundraiser! GO MSJ! Warrior are awesome.

CAN'T WAIT UNTIL IT COMES AROUND NEXT YEAR! YAY for the first weekend of August!

There's nothing better on a summer day than walking through a festival, grabbing a cold drink, and feasting on high calorie grub.

Being a Fremont resident for two years now, it's practically tradition for us to attend the Art & Wine festival. And it doesn't hurt that it's within walking distance so no worries about driving or parking. For other east bayers, BART is a recommended option.

The Art and Wine has been around 26 years and the draw is definitely the alcohol. Beer and Wine are served (must purchase tickets) and you're free to stroll drink in hand throughout the festival. Given this 'perk' expect long lines and crowds at the alcohol booths.

Not being much of drinker, the food is usually what lures me but here the grubs's similar to what you'd find at your local high school snack bar. Nothing too tempting or mouthwatering.

The rest of the attractions and vendors are the same staples you'd see at other festivals. There's live music, art, specialty food booths, a huge kids play area, jewelry and handmade crafts. Basically, something for everyone regardless what you're looking to spend your money on: alcohol, junk food, or a new trinket to bring home.

If you missed it this year make sure to catch the Art and Wine next year. There's no admission, so you can spend your money on whatever your vice, be it alcohol or food.  And worry not, you'll walk off all those extra calories by the end of the day.

I stumbled across The Fremont Art and Wine Festival a couple years ago, when I had to attend traffic school. On our break I strolled the venue and thought "Wow, this is so cool, a great place to get a good tan and see all the nick knacks people make." Since then I have come every year. Now I just ride my bike here to get around the parking issue.

I'm always looking for artwork to display in my house and this is a great place to see who and what's out there. People are so creative! What a great place to walk around in public with alcohol and to sample all the foods people are making.

I saw a booth for Deep Fried Twinkies, but I was too full after eating my garlic fries, nachos, kettle corn, corn on the cob, smoothie and shaved ice. But I did see a listing on Yelp of a place that offers it.
Note to self, must try on another day.

The Verdict: "Fun free event, but not exactly the best art or wine."

Pros: Convenient location on a main street, easy to find, well blocked off, lots of vendors, nice live music, had recycling receptacles and trash receptacles in many locations, right next to Raley's and Peet's and other nice businesses so you could buy some food/beverage there before gong into the festival (and save some $).

Cons: Vendors are a mish-mash and there seems to be no theme or selectivity. For example, what does a guy selling unattractive leather purses have to do with art or wine? You have to buy a mug to get beer (which is definitely more eco-friendly then disposable cups which create a lot of trash) but this makes the first cup $11 ($6 - mug, $5 - beer). The same goes for wine. Food vendors were limited as it seemed that teriyaki chicken was the most popular. Could have had traveling music or entertainment to liven up all ends of the crowd (instead of having the band in just one end of the row).

Would I Recommend It?: If you are around, then go by since it is free, but don't go outta your way for it.

Excellent selection of food, crafts, art, and gourmet creations.  Took BART from Hayward and it was a breeze.  No parking worries on only a 14 minute ride.  Make sure you have your walking shoes on and some extra sunscreen 'cause it is hot and if you walk the entire festival over 4 miles.

Very Fun and a great variety of food to eat.  Vendors were diverse and exceptionally unique.  Not as crowded as I thought it would be but that's a good thing.  Nice, easy, and relaxed way to spend a weekend.  City does a great job organizing the festival.

It's a great event. The only con I have is that it gets SOOO crowded. I love walking up and down, checking the vendors while listening to live music. As a teacher, I enjoy seeing my students at our local school booths and soaking up the warm August sun! Great event and can't wait to come next year!

This is my favorite Arts & Wine Festival. I first discovered it back in 2002 when I lived in Union City.  I make the trek every year since then.

The first year I found parking, but last year I decided to park at the Union CIty Bart Station and take the train. The Fremont Bart Station is within walking distance of the festival.

I normally get there really early before the crowds get there.  I always like looking for soap makers, the potpourri pie lady and other bath and body products.  I like how the vendors are set up.  I don't feel crowded.

The have a kids section for those who have kids.  I do not recommend bringing your pets.  I have seen people do that and the event promoters  say that pets are not allowed. SO please be respectful and leave your pets at home. Don't get me wrong I love dogs.
Highly recommend.

Every year I come by to the Fremont Art and Wine Festival and each year it is outstandingly bigger than the year before. Since I live near by I can just walk there. And the different booths advertising their products give so many free samples and goodie bags. They have many different things you can buy there, most if the things they sell can be gifts to others, so I usually go buy things there over the summer. The prices for most of the things there are reasonable and sometimes a bit above that. Its a good idea to go there for exercise since you can have fun at the same time. The walking around is good for you and there's many spots to sit down and rest. They usually have concerts also, so you have entertainment. For the kids, there's always a Kid Area with rock climbing, painting, and other fun activities. The fire department comes by too, so kids can check out how it works.
But its all very exciting, so it wouldn't hurt to try this event!

This was my second visit to the festival.  It was much bigger this year.  I bought interesting trinkets, including wine toppers, fancy soaps, flattened beer bottles, kitchen aprons, embroidered stuff, and a toe ring!  There were a lot of toe ring booths so I just had to.  Lots of lovely artwork, but when I thought about carrying that shit around the festival with me the rest of the day, I had to pass and just opt for checking out their websites in the future.

We ate some tacos and garlic fries.  Took some pics with the Fremont Fire Dept engine.

We didn't end up wine tasting.  After buying so much stuff we got stingy about drinking.

A million strollers here and they have a kid section.  A supposedly pet free event but that wasn't the case.  A couple of music stages but we walked right on by.  We could hear someone belting out You Can't Touch This.

There was one booth.. where they sold this one hideous shirt contraption.  It was a weird shirt.. I thought it was all a joke.  Reminded me of Rufus from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.  Seriously.  WTF.

You can't beat FREE and within walking distance of the crib!!

We went here last Saturday...pretty fun, and it was nice to walk around the festival, especially on such a nice day.

We weren't really into the arts&crafts stuff, but went mainly for the gourmet marketplace and the wine.  We wound up not going for the wine (seemed to hot, especially for the red wine), but we did wind up sampling many of the gourmet foodstuffs, and even bought some stuff (the dip mixes and truffle oil spray were particularly great!).

Had a great time (as we had in previous years), but just had to dock a star for the lack of available free parking, especially for such a large event.  After circling around for a while, wound up just paying for parking at Washington Hospital (at least the proceeds went to charity).

It's that time of year again, where Fremont and non-Fremont residents get that excitement of knowing that there is going to be a festival in a town where people don't really get excited about.  Fremont is a city that isn't very well known because it is between two cities that people would rather visit.  However, Fremont makes it mark every summer when the Art and Wine Festival comes into town.

The Art and Wine Festival could not be more perfectly placed than right smack in the middle of  Fremont where people trek everyday to get through their everyday lives.  Down Mowry and Paseo Padre the white booths glow against the glaring sun filling the streets of Fremont with people from the Bay and tourists.  This great event is filled with (and not limited too) jewelers, sponsers, back rubbers, henna tattooers, independent designers, bakers, pet adoptions and much much more.

Finally at the age where I appreciate the sweet and/or bitter taste of wine, this was my chance to go to the Fremont Art and Wine Festival to get buzzed and enjoy the live acts with music and people watch at all the very interesting people who all gather at this one place where I call home.  However, I was with three very small children who took up all my energy at the children area of the Arts where kids get to play around and enjoy rides, face painting, and games.  But a dollar a ticket and three tickets to ride a ride was far too expensive for my liking, so my God child was unfortunately not as spoiled as some other kids and only got to enjoy the fun house and a helicopter ride where he rode with a young girl whose father looked just as exausted as I did.

In the Argus, they mentioned that Fremont has the largest Arts and Wine Festival to come to Northern Califonia.  Every year the festival brings the citizens of Fremont together, where they actually feel pride for their city.  You'll never see Fremont come together  like they do for this festival and I hope it continues to bring joy and happiness like it does for me every summer.

I had so much fun at last year's festival. I spent a ton of money on filling my house with cute art pieces, soap, candles, and potpourri. Half that stuff I didn't think I really needed BUT thanks to my glass of wine (I'm a lightweight mind you) I kept hoarding my money out to vendor after vendor.

This beat walking around the mall for 2 hours on the weekend that's for sure! Another perk: FUNNEL CAKE! Hell yes.

I have been going to the Fremont Art & Wine Fest ever since I was a little thing. I grew up in Fremont - I thankfully don't live in Fremont anymore but I do like to go back for the summer festival. I feel every year it gets bigger and better. Lots of fab vendors, plenty of food and lots of wine, beer and margaritas!

I'm always in search of unique handmade jewelry pieces - didn't come across any this year however. I did buy a zen cat shirt from my favorite vendor (Alykat) who is always there every year. The "Tao of Meow" is a must have for all of the cat lovers out there!

We did spend the majority of the day in Kid City. We came with our goddaughter and she had a blast riding all of the kiddie rides. I liked how they placed the kids section in the very back away from the large crowds. Good planning Fremont! There are even toddler friendly activities - very cool.

When visiting the Art & Wine Fest, wear sunblock, good walking shoes, a huge hat and sunglasses. It gets HOT walking around, and there's not too many shaded areas.

Thank you Fremont for having the best and the largest art & wine festival on the West coast.

I love the Fremont Art & Wine Festival and not just because I live here.  It's worth going to no matter where you live in the Bay Area just go by 10am or you'll regret it.  I've been going for yrs and it's great fun and FREE.  It's the largest art & wine festival in the West coast!

It can get hot in Fremont in the summer, but Sun 8/5/07 it was Great.  We got there before 10am, plenty of free parking on Mowry behind Barnes & Noble and Fremont Bank.  We parked at the Fremont Hub, but we don't mind walking.

Started at the business area where lots of companies have booths and of course grabbed as many free stuff as I could get.  Tons of Free pens so you don't have to buy any for a yr.  I got about 6.  Magnets, chip bag clips, magnifying glass, coaster, I chose to Reuse City of Fremont bag was hella worth it (don't know if they'll have it next yr), etc.

This yr saw a cart for Brown Cow Yogurt.  They were giving out FREE full-size yogurt!!  Two flavors were Maple & Boysenberry.  Maple was pretty good, boysenberry has lots of seeds.  I got 6 to take home!

We didn't eat there but they have: linguisa sandwich, hot dogs, egg rolls, ice-cream bars, etc. and the money are for various local groups.

Loved the Firefighter Challenge.  Many firefighters from all over, even from Alaska were out competing to give us a good show.  It was fun.

Highly recommended.  It's an annual event so if you missed it this yr (8/4-5, 2007), always next yr.  Close to Fremont Bart.  It's always the weekend after Gilroy Garlic Festival.

I must be equally crazy to not review this event that only happens once a year in my hometown.  I've only recently been attending this festival for the past 3 or 4 years.  I'm sure it's been around much longer.  It's given my friends and I the opportunity to get together and hang out and look at all the booths.  We always try one new cafe or restaurant and make sure to take tons of pictures.  This is a great event for tourists that want to see which businesses represent Fremont.  It's fun for the kids and family of course and you'll never know who you'll run into.  Last year we ran into a bunch  of Irvington High School alumni!  I just hope they come up with new events and idea every year to keep the spirit of a community going.

Ahhh the Fremont festival of open containers and debauchery.. err arts and wine.. always impressive with  your turn outs. Its amazing how many people from through out your life end up standing on the corner of capital and paseo padre... with out fail i am bound to run into people i haven't got to hang out with in a long time.. usually they are good and liqueured up which adds to the fun...
the art, i could do with out but coming out and soaking up some major sun while drinking the day away cant be beat...

Awesome!  Met and watched a cooking demonstration by Top Chef Stephanie Izard and contestant Ryan Scott, got free massages (not by them though haha), ate some Linguica burgers, had my face read/fortune told by Master Ming Xu after standing in a long line ("And what's this mark right here?  A scar?"  "Uhh.. no, it's just a pimple I was trying to cover up" hahahha), and overall had an amazing time walking around and getting into shenanigans :D

The Fremont Art and Wine Festival is one of my favorite events to attend during the summer! The weather is always nice and it's FREE!! You will not be disappointed since the festival is HUGE! It's practically a maze going through the streets.

Browsing around the different vendors are fun. You can see beautiful artwork, photography, and clothes! Lots of tie-dyed shirts are for sale.

I enjoy searching for the free samples or giveaways. This year, Brown Cow gave samples of the yogurts, and Kalua gave ice cream samples with either french vanilla or hazelnut liquor. In the past months, Avon gave free make-up consultations. In addition, there is a vendor who has different flavor pistachios and other nuts. Very tasty.

I look forward to the event every year :)

We went here last Sunday because it's a two day thing.  The place was packed.  Parking $5.00 at the Washington Hospital. I would like to thank the NBC peeps and Giants (even though I"m not a Giants fan) for the free shirts.  Good Wente wine, beer and margaritas.  Love the food tasting.  Love their Kids Zone.  We had a great time with our kids.  Next year will be there again.

Fremont's Art & Wine Festival is far and away the best of its kind.  No wonder it's the largest in the United States!

I used to be burned out on these things.  Always the same booths, overpriced everything, etc., etc.  This one, this year had loads of booths and stuff for sale I hadn't seen anywhere before!

I bought a t-shirt that I love; a hand-made inlaid wooden chalice that is absolutely beautiful and one of a kind; an original oil painting, a  seascape, from the artist who painted it.  Just looking at it makes me feel good and the colors in it are so vivid!

We ate sesame-coated pecans, marinated pork and chicken on a stick and other delicious stuff, along with Beringer white zinfandel for our thirst.

The write-up for this event said there was 4 miles of walking if you saw it all.  I believe it!

Highly recommended!!

I had the best time this last weekend at my local art & wine fest. Saw friends I haven't seen in forever. Got to peep some great art & inspiring pieces. I also loved that is was a few blocks from home so I didn't have to travel far. Parking was easy and the weather was perfect. Once again Fremont was representing to the fullest! I highly recommend you make it to this fun little event. Good food, great music to groove to and lots of happy folks enjoying themselves.. or maybe that was just the alcohol in them. haha..

I've been almost every year since living in Fremont (9 yrs).  Really enjoy & look forward to it each year.  Good food, creative wares, and loved the band BustaMove this year.  Bring em back!  There really is something for everyone...and it's free. Keep up the good work!
