Two words: Slush Puppies!! And they have many flavors!! This place is awesome, they have such an array of frozen treats, as well as lunch items. And they have ice cream cakes for special occasion!
But back to the Slush Puppies - these are the authentic, real deal, Slush Puppies from back in the day. And the owner, who is super-nice, told us about the great lengths that he has gone to in keeping stocked with the Slush Puppies. So support his efforts!!!
Also, for you vegans; they have a few soy ice creams as well!!
And of course, Gunthers Fruit Freezes if you are in the mood for something lighter than ice cream (and want to skip, what I am sure is, the higher sugar-content of the Slushie).

Woop Woop for Here's the Scoop!!!

we decided to try this spot out one not on our mission for slushies or sno cones. Osaka-Ya was by far closed and Vic's i always crowded, and even though it's just right up the street from our house we decided somewhere else was in tow. I mentioned we should try out Here's the Scoop located on Freeport Blvd right across the street from McClatchy High School. Game on!

They had just was we were hoping for, and even better yet, Slush Puppies!!  I hadn't had one of them in ages. Large grape Slush Puppie and a Blended tea please!! There's 3 ice cream cases, i think one has an assortment of sorbet or maybe even gelato. Looks like they do samiches and such too, as their flyer reads, "Sandwich Meal Deal $4.50 (includes chips & a drink). or Hot Dog Meal Deal $2.75."

I might have to try that for a quick lunch sometime. My favorite thing about this ice cream shop, is the cold case full of Bon-bon's prepackaged for your taking home and gobbling up. I purchased a container of 6 for $3.50. They are such a yummy delight; chocolate covered balls of assorted flavors of ice cream!!! Who could go wrong there... other than to not buy enough in one stop?

I highly recommend stopping in and supporting this family-owned establishment. At least get yourself a container of them oh-so-delicious bon-bon treats!!

I got pretty lucky when I came across this place.

We had opted for crepes and milk tea instead of Gunthers becuase we didnt feel like hunting around for it and I'm not too familiar with the non-downtown areas.

we were in search of a non-existant Q-cup when upon concluding our search we came across a brightly lit sign in the window advertising Gunthers ice cream.

So I got the 2 scoop sundae with Cookie dough and mint chip, it was awesome!  The ice cream was premium.  I asked him if a hit fudge sundae would make it to midtown and he assured me it would, and was totally right!

My girl got a cone with a scoop of mocha almond fudge.   She loved hers too.

IT was the perfect break from the Mochii yougurt shes been force feeding me for the last 3 months.  I think the guy that was working there was the owner, he was super friendly.  Anyway, also a nice alternative to having a bunch of ackward teenager scoop your ice cream while sexual tension lingers in the air between two adolescent soda jerks.

Also they have ice cream cakes!

We found this place driving back from Tahoe using N@'s phone directory. It was great. Like a little hidden gem in Sacramento that satisfied the desire for ice cream we were both having. Mr. Recommendations Ice Cream Man behind the counter was very helpful and told me to swoop up their chocolate espresso caramel toffee yum-a-scrumptious shake with whip and other delish toppings i can't think of right now... it was so good. Gave me just the right pep to make it back to SJ safely. B+

what a nice little ice cream place. it's so cute and they have all the ice cream you can think of. the owner suggested a custom drink made with coffee and chocolate and some other stuff...it is to die for. literally, i'll allow a big truck to hit me if i can get a vat of that to drink. it would probably be best if the truck hit me after i drink that vat of it -- that way i can enjoy it first and not have to live with the consequences of drinking an entire vat of delicous, sweet, cold, creamy, decadent ice cream. lol! but serioulsy, you should def make a stop there, it's well worth it!

I love this place!  While not as quaint and old-school ice cream parlorish as Gunther's or Vic's, it is family owned and operated, and better yet, it's close to my house.  The ice cream is from Gunther's, so you know the quality is there.  They also have several frozen delights already packaged up, ready to go, if you really need your ice cream fix quick.  Bon Bons, sherbet desserts, Clown Cones, etc....   They also have coffee/espresso in the mornings for all the high school kiddies, and sandwiches, nachos and hot dogs for lunch.
Mr. and Mrs. Scoop also have a soft spot in my wizened old heart because they took my kid into the shop (with a bunch of other kids loitering around before school) when there was the lock-down/shooting at CKM.  They kept them all safe and gave them hot chocolate.  Sweet.  Go give them your business if you are in the neighborhood.
