4 reviews for Fred & Steve's Steakhouse
best filet mignon we have had in the providence area (compared to 10 Steak, and Sushi, Ruth's Chris, Capitol Grille, XO.)
Burgers are also very good, and the bacon is fabulous.
you can often get a table in advance by booking on http://opentable.com
Fred...Steve...what's going on!! I work in a premier steakhouse in Boston and this is not worth it! Entrees are more expensive than a city steakhouse by at least $8-10 dollars. It seems that any Tom..Dick or Fred & Steve can hire an architect to make a "pretty" restaurant -- but its about substance. My food was refired 2x because it was cold (hot plate, cold inside), they finally decided to make a new dish. But all hope lost, the food was bland-- granted the aging clientele may not have any taste buds and are watching there cholesterol, but a little salt & pepper goes a long way. Sorry, was looking forward to the meal - but all hope lost. Shout out to Kim & Phil, you did your best with what you had and I appreciate it!
When at Twin Rivers I usually go to Fred & Steve's for drinks at the bar. Nice atmosphere, dark wood interior, more upscale than anything else in Twin Rivers. Attentive and friendly bartenders who pour some strong drinks. Always very busy on a Friday and Saturday nights. Artichoke and spinach dip was very good but served with an odd sliced crusty bread, I am use to some type of chips. Made the dish very messy to eat, resorted to a knife and fork. They have 3 menus, a bar menu, a 3 for $30.00 menu and the regular restaurant menu. The latter is very expensive, on par with the steakhouses in Providence. The 16oz sirloin was $34.00, the steak was ok, not a thick slice like most other steakhouses serve. The appetizer, steak, a side of mashed, a burger, and drinks were $100.00 before tip. Somewhat steep, at Ruth's Chris or Capital Grille I would have thought the bill was reasonable, here I thought it was expensive and not worth it. I will return and stick to the bar for drinks. I would give the bar alone 4 stars, the food and prices bring it down to 2 stars.

Went to F&S even after reading the mediocre reviews. The reviews were right on. First off, had to make a reservation 3 weeks in advance for a party of 5...and then the restaurant wasn't even busy!! The service was disruptive (I like it when the servers blend into the dining experience) and we spent about 3 hours eating since it took forever for the food to come. Prices were boston prices but food just wasn't up to par. You can get a much better dining experience at Capital Grille or Abe's (not even close to Morton's or the grille) for about the same price. Clam chowder = very watery, stuffed shrimp = tasted like it came out of a freezer, and meat wasn't cooked as we requested. although, for how it was cooked, the meat was pretty good. But I would not recommend or won't be going back.
