For those interested in international military history and ancient weapons, the Frazier museum in Louisville, KY is the place to stop.
I came alone, and shelled out a few extra bucks for a guided audio tour headset. I went through the museum at my own pace with the accompanied audio (high quality with sound effects, good voice acting, and music!). I highly recommend purchasing the audio headset accompaniment if you want the full Frazier experience.
The collection is impressive, with all sorts of weapons on display, including blunt and ranged weapons from different regions of the world throughout their separate stages of development. Armor too! The live demonstrations of dueling/fighting are also worth checking out.
When they say "International History Museum", they mean it! Nearly every world power's military prowess is displayed within the Frazier, past and present. History buffs, check this place out and get lost in lost eras of time! -

Such a great museum with many interactive opportunities. I learned that I'm probably not a good candidate for archery here.
The sculptures and costuming is very detailed with lots of facial expression. I particularly enjoyed the live jesting demonstration as well. In addition the water purifying section of the museum is also very interesting as well.
I always feel as if I have much to learn history wise when visiting museums. . .this is a great place to fuel your desire for history. -

I'm a believer in calling them as I see them.If I don't agree with something,it doesn't mean that that thing is wrong,I just don't agree with it. I don't expect everybody to approve of what I believe or do.
With that said,I love the Frazier International Arms History Museum. It refuses to acknowledge the historical weapons that it contains within its walls. I love the fact that I can see a rifle owned by George Washington! I delight in seeing Teddy Roosevelt's Big Stick! I can relive my childhood looking at the weapons used by the Vikings,Scots,Noble Knights,Frontiersmen. It's a wonderful lace where one can learn about history, craftsmanship, heroism, and personal shortcomings. I wish they would admit that they have weapons in the museum. Yet, they try their best not to acknowledge that they have guns, swords, knives and other weapons in their showcases. In Kentucky no less, home of Daniel Boone,Simon Kenton, and George Rogers Clark!Kentucky, whose northern border is formed by the Dark and Bloody river called the Ohio River!
They have great exhibits, terrific demonstrations, and fine biographical interpretations daily. I just want them to embrace who they are and what they own.It would be like the founder,Owsley Brown Frazier denouncing liquor! -

It really was great. A must for history buffs, military enthusiasts and believe it or not, history class field trips for all grades.
My only regret was my need to leave to catch my flight.
I spent three hours there one day and another 3 hours there another day and I still need a good four hours more some day.
Most of the info provided was basic but its presented it in a very interesting format. There are interactive displays, plaques to read, illustrations, life size dioramas, maps, videos and short plays that are performed throughout the day and change from day to day ensuring a fresh form of entertainment on every visit.
The English History Exhibit (and the museum as a whole) is first rate.
I hope the museum stays open, as the crowds were a bit light, but then again the museum is a nice size and maybe we were all just allowed privacy to experience history on our own. -

UPDATE 03/08: I attended a gay event here last week that was sponsored by the directory G3. It was a great time and a fun environment to be in. They had a scavenger hunt that night for a free drink. The correct answers were: Bison bison, Jesse James, Audubon, Minie balls, George Washington, and the Colt revolver.
This is a well done museum located in the West Main district with an emphasis on arms and martial history that is within walking distances of all the major downtown hotels. Their summer 2007 exhibit on dragons is worthwhile. They are open 9-5 Monday through Saturday and in the summers stay open til 8PM Friday nights. Check the website for more updated information. -

When I heard that this museum had the largest British arms collection outside of Britain I was intrigued. The museum didn't disappoint. It's actually run hand in hand with the Brits and you can get a crash course in British history through conflict and arms. The second floor incorporates American history including the Civil War and the Wild West. Although there is definitely a conscious effort to make the museum interactive with videos blaring, and live actors every half hour, I found that there was too much reading - more than I could bear. I am very glad I purchased the audio tour, and I suggest you do the same.
