Frank's Italian Restaurant
2 reviews for Frank's Italian Restaurant
We ate lunch here on Saturday to escape the heat of the Helen Keller Festival. It was close, not crowded, and air conditioned so it was very appealing at the time.
I'm glad we ate there because the food was quite good. Aside from a few minor service problems (prices on check were higher than on menu, but gladly resolved) the atmosphere was really nice.
The place is really decorated nicely, and has an outdoor patio in the back. I ordered the Italian beef sandwich which came with a spicy au jus dipping sauce. Very tasty indeed! You get free bread as an appetizer, although you have to pay $2.50 to have anything to dip it in. We chose not to order any dipping sauces, and while the bread is good, it was dry.
My wife ordered a chicken salad croissant sandwich, only to find out that they were out of croissants. The waitress offered her just the chicken salad instead. That was fine with my wife, and she really enjoyed it. It came with fresh fruit and pasta salad as well.
The croissant sandwich was $8.50, and the chicken salad by itself was listed as $6.99 on the menu. When we got our bill, we were charged the $8.50 even though we didn't get the croissant. They gladly fixed the mistake, but charged us $7.99. Come to find out, the real price for the chicken salad was $7.99. The waitress said the menu just hadn't been changed.
I suggested they change their menus to reflect current priced BEFORE changing their computers. She was polite and modified our bill to reflect the $6.99 menu price.
I'm not complaining about that, it's an understandable oversight, and didn't lessen the great experience we had. I recommend Frank's Italian Restaurant anytime you're in Tuscumbia.
I've never liked the name Frank.
But I guess the name is Italian?
So it fits.
I've been wanting to try this place for a long time.
I dropped in last week with my parents.
The atmosphere is very nice. They have a heated outdoor patio if you want some fresh air.
High ceilings, with old hardwood floors.
I ordered the fettuccine alfredo (always a safe bet when trying a new place).
I was disappointed in the dish. It wasn't bad, but it lacked real flavor. Even the bacon on top was a little bland.
My parents ordered different dishes, and they insisted their food was FABULOUS. So I'm betting I just made a bad choice when ordering. I'll be trying this place again.
The service was excellent. Very friendly.
They have an extensive wine selection, which is a rare find. They also offer wine tasting events.
This would be a great spot to take a group of friends on a Friday night.
