The prices keep people happy. The quality brings people back. The knowledge of how a suit should fit? Well that is what prompts people to spread the word.

I feel like I am starting every review with a counter statement to another review I read - so here it goes. Who leaves a tailor without trying the newly altered suit or jacket?

Overall I was very impressed with this place. Its straight forward without a lot of frills or sass; t is a mens store. When I put my jacket on to be altered the guy (not quite familiar with the employee/family arrangement yet) made his marks based on my requests and then asked me to take it off. He says to me: "Son, that jacket is a half size too big... we'll do what we can to fix it, but if you want to dress like a gentleman, we should take some measurements." I actually didn't realize half sizes existed. I have bought a lot of suits at Jos Banks and Department stores and not ONCE did anyone suggest a half size. And you know, I have never been happy with my suits because I always thought they looked too big. So anyway... I got marked, came back two weeks later, tried them on to confirm, and smiled. As I left I looked back and realized that I found my tailor.

Frank is the man! Good quality suits...always down to offer a deal.
Never went there when his son was running the show.

I heard great things about Frank's through Yelp and was in desperate need of a tailor so I did walk up the not-so-comfortable stairwell to find a quaint little shop for mainly men's clothing. I  went in to have two designer pairs of Seven for All Mankind jeans tailored to my 29inch inseam with original 'looking' hem since they don't keep the original hem.  They charged me $28 which I felt beyond reasonable after Saks quoted me $75 even when the jeans came from them!  Turnaround time was about 5 business days.  When I went to pick them up, they looked wonderful and I am very pleased.  Price/service = great.  I will be back!

Wrote about this shop earlier this spring and raved about it.  I brought my brother here two weeks ago  while he was in town and he was as equally impressed and got himself 2 new suits.  When i was there with him, I wound up getting a new sport coat and couple of dress slacks . I picked them up last week and they fit perfectly. Wore the jacket today and got no fewer than 3 compliments from people,
I highly recommend this place. The customer service and selection are top notch. You won't be dissappointed.

I heard this place actually right here on Yelp! Based on the good reviews, I then went there and had them make three suits costing me almost $300 each. Since my arms are a bit shorter than normal guys, so they promised to make them fit for my arms. I picked those suits up and then immediately left Boston for Bay Area due to job relocation. I was later surprised to find that all the three suits' sleeves were a bit too short! I guess these guys do a lousy job when they get busy, or the tailors are not as good as they were before. My suggestion is that: Don't order too many suits at once.

This place is great.  The quality there is excellent.  The price for quality suits can't be beat.  I've tried several other places in the neighborhood and I've yet to be able to find the same quality suits at a comparable price.  They have always delivered on all promised turn around times and end of the day you can truly feel the difference in their suits.

This place is synonymous with the kind of old-school service you thought was long gone. Without any reservation, I can say this is the best place to buy affordable high-quality men's suits in Greater Boston.

Nary a cheaply made suit to be found, and yet their prices, including tailoring, match what you'd find at Men's Warehouse and other places that peddle mostly cheap Chinese knock-off suits. Believe me it is a difference you can see and feel: A good suit can make or break the man.

This is the all-in-one package where you can pick out your suit and get on-site tailoring according to your exacting specifications for fit. The two sales guys (either Frank himself or his son) will patiently work with you and help you find exactly what you want and figure out how you want it to fit.

Frank's also does some of the best alterations on pants I've seen.  They do a spectacular job on jeans for $15 and even match the thread color. I know getting mom to do the hemming saves you some change, but c'mon you're in the big-kid world now.

From suit virgins to the suit aficionado this is THE place in Boston to in the wise words of Neil Patrick Harris, "Suit Up!"

This place was recommended to me by my CEO. He sure knows his suits, since he owns 60+.

1. Tailoring job they do is superb! Prices for the service are also very very reasonable.
(EDIT 8/8/08 - they almost DOUBLED their prices and Frank did not even bother to tell me that before he took my clothes for alteration. I thought the price on the ticket was a mistake, I was unpleasantly surprised when Frank smugly told me that "it is what it is").

2. I bought some Italian suits from Frank and his son for a fraction of what I paid for my Hugo Boss or BCBG. AND they include tailoring in the price.

EDIT: Reduced the rating by two stars, see above why.

I've tried other tailoring places 'Kirkland Dry Cleaning & Tailoring' & 'Tuttles' etc...and was very disappointed Tuttles was sloppy AND took 2 weeks. Kirkland was sloppy, took 2 weeks, hem fell out after 2 wears AND it cost me 35 bucks for two pairs of pants to be hemmed. (Damn these short LEGS!) So I vowed to save time and money and starting hemming them myself...

...until....my mother starting making fun of my lack of sewing ability and said I looked like a hobo (it really wasn't that bad! But you could see the stitching.) I knew  my options were either I shopped at the short girl sections...OR I invest in a good tailor.

After reading some other online reviews for Frank's I decided to give it a try. Walked up the sketchy stairs, dropped off my 2 ladies trousers and I'm assuming it was Frank who took care of me. I dropped it off on thursday and he said they would be ready the following Friday..

Next Thursday, I was getting anxious so I dropped in anyway and they were INDEED finished and ready for me to pick up.  Only cost me 28 bucks, and my pants are SNAZZY! Perfect length, all i had to do was put pin in at home and bring them in.

You do have the option to put them on in a dressing room inside the shop and he will tailor them for you with fabric chalk. But as a female, I didn't feel like taking my pants off around strange men...that didn't involve alcohol and a cheap line anyway.

Either way...rather than praying for longer legs, I will continue to have Frank be my tailor. They front pleat ALL PANTS. So if you don't want it, say something first. I didn't want it, and I didn't know so I didn't say anything. But my pants actually look better now.

Gods Speed and a good hem!

After trying about 3,529 downtown tailors, I finally found Frank's.  Now, don't be afraid of the creepy stairwell leading up to this place.  I was.  Matter of fact, don't be afraid of the aged, dusty storeroom, either.  I was.

Once you're over all the creepy stuff, you'll meet Frank's son (I think), or, if you're lucky enough, Frank.  Nice guys.  Both of them will try to sell you some suits when you drop off your tailoring.  Listen to them.  I rejected their advances for a year until I realized that they actually have the best suits for the best prices (250 and up - with tailoring included).  Nice Italian cuts (contemporary and classic) and makes.  I now buy all of my suits from Frank's rather than any other tailor or department store.

And, of course, they're solid on the tailoring end, too; their mainstay.  Every time, my stuff comes out perfect: crisp lines, flawless seems, and symmetrical cuts.  And, this is on different types of suits and cuts.  They just get it done.  Period.  Ladies - I see you in here, too, with your slacks and suits and even jeans (keeping the original hem).  So, you shouldn't be afraid here, either.

Bottom-line is that I trust these guys.  I had my wedding suit emergency tailored here a long time ago and way too close to my wedding date (that's how I found this place).  You should trust them, too.

I have only used their tailoring services, but plan to come back to check out some of their suits.  They did a fantastic job with four different pairs of pants that I needed some work on, were very friendly, and the service was very quick.

I am kind of tired with the overpriced crap that comes from the large chain stores, even the one that is supposed to be the bastion of men's conservative clothing.  I look forward to checking out their suits and blazers.

Great service, very kind. I had popped a button off of my navy blazer and needed to have it repaired as soon as possible. When I got off the T at Park St, Franks Custom Tailor was the first tailor I saw. I went in, took off my blazer and the guy said he could do it right then. He sewed the button back on, then didn't charge me.  As a disclaimer, I can't speak for any intricate tailor work that is done here, but it will be the first place that I go back to.

I bought a suit at Frank's for my wedding.  I went in wanting to find a light-colored suit, but after struggling to find one in my size, Frank's son recommended a navy blue pinstriped suit.  I received a lot of compliments, both on the look and on the fit - the tailoring that was included in the suit price was very well done.  I'll go back in a heartbeat for future suit purchases.  At under $300 for a quality Italian suit, super friendly service, and impeccable tailoring, it's a no-brainer.
