When we visit Karen's sister in the Nashville area, we stay at the Franklin Mariott/Cool Springs. Our first experience had the potential to go wrong quickly, but instead turned out great!

A regional high school baseball tournament was going on nearby and the teams were staying here, so the lobby was awash in high school boys. Without us asking, the delightful clerk (from Kansas City and had worked at a Marriott I had stayed in there!) upgraded us and put us on one of the keycard-only floors and away from the bustle and noise.

The theater is less than 5 minutes from a large movie multiplex and several (admittedly chain) restaurants and two minutes from a Starbucks, so there are some creature comforts nearby.

This is my home away from home when I travel to the center of Tennessee. Karen and I give it a thumb's up.

There's a serious lack of places to get a good brunch in Cool Springs, which considering the crowd that live here, greatly surprises me. I'm doing this review because it's not an obvious place people think of for Sunday Brunch.

Any day of the week, the Marriott provides an excellent breakfast buffet, with top quality ingredients. There are fantastic sausages, bacon, pancakes, potatoes, eggs. There are all the normal breakfast items, but somehow it is so much better than most other buffets.

On weekends, they add to their usual fare by serving desserts and brunch items. There are cheesecakes and gateaux as well as classic savory brunch fare.

This experience was hilarious and sad at the same time.  I went to the lounge with my cousin on a Friday night to have a couple drinks and catch a taxi downtown. Mistake 1# - Taxis do not hang around this hotel, they'll have to come from Nashville and take you back downtown.  So we have a drink and notice there are alot of people in the bar, all singles middle aged and hitting on each other.  As we worked the room in conversation everyone was from out of town.  As they all drank and got more hammered they couldnt keep their stories straight.  It became clear almost everyone in the bar lived in the area and was married.  Funny and sad.  Jerry Springer episodes played out live at the Marriott Cool Springs Fri & Sat nights!
