I love Frankie D's.  I've been here to eat and I've also been here for the bar several times, since it's within walking distance of my apartment.

The sweet potato fries are so delicious, and a big enough portion that I could reasonably eat it as my entire dinner.  They comes with a sweet sauce that goes perfectly.

My husband loves the burnt ends, though it took us many times of ordering them before we could actually get them.  They sell out of them pretty quickly, since they're a favorite.

I've always had great service here, well-mixed drinks, and terrific food.  No complaints, and I'll keep coming back!

This was my fourth time eating at this BBQ restaurant in Kingston. I took my folks there who were visiting from out of town. In the past I have had great experiences at Frankie D's and found the quality of the food to be excellent. This time was a disappointment though after raving to my folks about how great this place is.

We went for an early dinner on Sunday afternoon following a Patriots game. The first thing that struck me was the amount of cigarette butts in front of the restaurant and on the pavement in front the entrance. There was also some trash and debris on the ground too. I know that a Patriots game had just ended, so if I were the manager I would make it a point to clean up out front, especially after Saturday nights or Sunday football games. It really looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a few days. I've never noticed it as being so dirty before.

We were seated in the back and one thing I have noticed before but overlooked, the booths are a little tight and somewhat uncomfortable. My 6 year pointed out that there used to be a TV in the corner above us, he noticed this because the TV bracket was still on the wall and a cable was dangling in mid air. I also asked the waitress to switch the channel from the news to a late football game and she tried, but told me that the TV has been broken for awhile and they weren't able to change channels. Oh well. I guess you go for the food and not the TV or decor...

The food at Frankie D's has been excellent in the past. He really gets the brisket done right. I was feeling a little hungry that night and went for the two meat combo - brisket and ribs. Everyone else had pulled pork and ribs or brisket. For sides it was mac n cheese, onion rings, Cole slaw and green beans. The waitress was kind enough to let someone in our party have a small sample of the collard greens, which they said were pretty tasty. That was a nice touch to let someone try a sample.

The ribs and pulled pork were quite good as always. They really get the flavor right on the pulled pork and the ribs were juicy and cooked perfect. The brisket was a big disappointment for the first time in a few visits. It was very dry and the flavor seemed lacking to a degree. The sides were all decent, the only exception being the mac n cheese. It was tasty but could have used a little more texture as it was a little watery.

The service was good as the waitress was very pleasant and attentive to our needs.

Maybe I caught it on a bad day, but I felt that the everyone was tired after a Patriots loss and a long weekend. I will be back again as the food is still good but maybe I will consider take out.

The food here is good most of the time. The chili is underwhelming because there's no real flavor profile and its missing beef, beans, and heat. Unlike other BBQ joints were you can have them customize the heat level, there's only one setting here, dull. My cup also came with a piece of cornbread and it was awful! It was luke warm and spongy, as if someone was lazy and decided to nuke it in the microwave. The Mac n Cheese was better with some flavor and substance.

The service is where they really fall down. I came on a Wednesday and I waited at the desk for several minutes while employees looked at me then walked away...very rude. After getting a seat and sampling the chili and cornbread, I remarked how bad the cornbread was and the waitress response "Then don't eat it." Again rude and unprofessional!

I'm a fan of locally owned joints but not ones that have so-so food and employees with attitude so I'd have to really be in the mood for BBQ and not feel like driving around before I go here again.

Incredible BBQ spot. It doesn't look like much on the outside but is surprisingly nice inside. The food is great here, lots of options, brisket, pulled pork or chicken, ribs. Some of the MAC and cheese bowls are great as is the chili. They have their own sauce on each table and its a very smooth tasty bbq sauce. Much better than any store brand. Lot to like about this place, good prices for the most part too.

Wicked awesome wings!!!! Not being from the area with a friend craving a pile of delicious wings, I hopped on yelp and found Frankie D's.  Upon first inspection we thought, good wings in a strip mall, noooo...but we're we SO wrong, they were easily top three wings eva!  We got the medium and they were perfect, crispy with just enough hot.  Cozy atmosphere & delightful service.  By the end of the meal we decided to make Frankie D's a tradition every time we're in the area...job well done!  ps...frankie's d sauce was boss.

What a great place! Not sure what the naysayers problems are. We had a great meal at the bar. Ribs, brisket and pulled pork ruled. The smoked pulled chicken was equally excellent. Steven Tyler hot sauce and cold beer. What more do you need? Wish I had tried this place sooner.

I eat here as often as i can, my teens love it, good selections are the chopped beef brisket sandwich, pastrami, or buffalo chicken sandwhich.  The sweet potato fries are like candy with the dipping sauce.  Usually food is awesome, last time the food wasnt so warm when it was served, that is not usual.

Terrific brisket: nice and smoky, and (thankfully!) served without any sauce so the delicious meat flavor came through.  Even better the next day as cold leftovers!

MMMMMMmmmmMashed potatoes!  They may contain crack.  They need no gravy.

My husband loved his smoked ground beef meatloaf.  I've never had anything like it before.  It combined 2 of his favorites (smoke and meat loaf).

The mac and cheese (once I added salt and pepper) was basic but satisfying.

The collard greens were super sweet, which didn't do it for me, but I know that's a pretty typical way to make them.  I bet my sweet tea-drinking sister-in-law from Virginia would have loved them.

The service was fine.  Didn't have any of the issues of other reviewers.

THIS is BBQ!!! It looks like from the outside you're going to a place to order at a counter and take your food to go. Exactly the opposite, which makes this place charming. It has a full bar, tables all over, and TVs for the football games (thank you!!). Hell, it even looks like a couple of the servers/owners were once football players themselves.
The food is AWESOME! We started out with the corn fritters with honey butter. It sounds so simple, but wow, they seriously were a home run (or touchdown). Lightly dusted with sugar to bring out the flavor...so good!
We ordered the pulled pork sandwich and ate it with Frankie D's BBQ sauce. It was so good! The portion was HUGE! If I weren't prego and overly-hungry sometimes I easily would have taken half of this home. Pops-in-law had the ribs and he said they were the best he's had, hands down.
Don't let the strip mall location fool you!

I've been to Frankie D's BBQ twice now.  I don't live anywhere near it (it's an hour away from my place in Malden) but I have a lot of family down on the South Shore (where I was born and raised) so I find myself in the general area frequently.

The first time I went I was with my mother, we sat at the bar and had a few cocktails and appetizers.  We had the corn fritters (which are delicious big balls of doughy corn goodness, served with honey butter) and brisket.  Both were good, and generous portions.  They make a mean margarita at Frankie D's, let me tell you.

The second time I went was yesterday for Mother's Day, with my mother, aunt, and sister, and my sister's fiance.  We were all very impressed.  They have Sam Summer on tap, which is good times.  We split the corn fritters and sweet potato fries.  I don't like sweet potato at all, so I didn't have any, but everyone else really liked them.

I had the pulled pork plate with collard greens and red bliss mashed potatoes, and oh my good lord was it yummy.  And it's a HUGE portion.  Like 3 meals worth of food huge.  I had some for lunch today and it made me a happy girl.  The pulled pork is cooked very well, and is very tender, with only a little bit of BBQ sauce, so it doesn't overwhelm the meat.

The rest of my family had chili, the beer can chicken, and the buffalo chicken mac and cheese.  Everyone enjoyed their food, and everyone had enough to take home as leftovers.

I am deducting a star cause I really wanted to try the burnt ends both times I was there and they were out both times.  My mother has had them and said they're really good though.

Went for the first time last night.  I was a little bummed to find out that they didn't open until 4 p.m. but that just meant I got to run down to Job Lot and get some goodies while I waited.
We got the Brisket...he had Slaw and O'Rings...I had Corn Muffins and Mac & Cheese.  Tried everything.  Loved it.
The beef certainly did not "fall apart" while we were eating it but the flavor was wonderful and the two bbq sauces at the table were amazing.  I went for the sweet (no big surprise there!)  The muffins were great.  They gave me a pat of butter for each, which was nice.  The Mac & Cheese was gooey and marvelous and went so well with the brisket and sauce it was amazing.  The Slaw has some very distinctive flavors added in and I loved it.  I'm hard to please when it comes to Slaw, so I was psyched!  The O'rings were of the crunchy variety...I prefer a batter...but the flavor was terrific.
It's really a toss-up for me which thing I enjoyed more outside of the food...the fact that I watched my picky-man eat his ENTIRE meal, the "you just walked into my house" feeling from the owner or the fact that they serve Lone Star beer!
All-in-all, it is a place I would recommend in a heart beat.  I can't wait to get back there to try some more of the menu items!!
Oh and a final word on the final course....loved the Pecan Pie with whipped cream....mmmmmmmmmm

What more do you want at a barbecue restaurant?  Great food, great people, great prices, sports on TV, great music - perhaps even a live band?  Frankie D's has it all in spades.

Frankie and Deana created a great place.  The bands rock, as does the food - regardless of what you order.  The soups are an unexpected plus, as well.   You will not go home hungry.  I love stopping by for any reason I can find as I always have a great time and the food is always great.  The salads are even great.  The chicken salad sandwich is BY FAR the best I have ever had.  I am not even a real chicken salad fan and a buddy insisted I try it.  I have since thanked him several times as it was amazing.

I give Frankie D's Five Stars.  I cannot imagine anything more I could want in a barbecue restaurant.  They have it all.

While the place is spotlessly clean and has great wait staff the food is mediocre at best.
I would recommend this place if you want to go out for drinks and have some food but as a stand-alone restaurant I'm afraid it does not live up to most of the highly positive ratings - I think these folks need to get out of Kingston more often.

I'll be the first to admit it... I'm a Northerner, born and bred. I wouldn't know authentic southern Bar-Be-Que if it bit me in the tushy. But I do know yummy food, and THIS is yummy food.

The place itself is fine, albeit a bit nondescript. It's a bit dark, and the bar appears to be the main focus. It's geared toward the guys, big-screen TV's at the bar, broadcasting whatever game is on. (It's actually located in the little plaza w/ the Stop & Shop, but don't let that deter you.)

    D. and I sat at the bar for lunch, finally settling on the beer can half-chicken (me) and the meatloaf (D.). The chicken was phenomenal. Really really juicy, tender, perfectly seasoned chicken, with the yummiest BBQ sauces to slather over, or dunk in. I chose the potato salad and the onion rings as my included sides. The salad was really good, but a bit salty. Definitely tasted homemade and very fresh. The rings were tempura-style, and although crispy and delicious, I limited myself to just a couple due to the obscene greasiness. If they had been drained, they would have been heaven. (D. loved his meatloaf, but as I'm not a fan in general, I didn't sample it. Shocking, eh?)

We chatted a bit with Frankie, who was very cool, and passionate about his food. I'll definitely be back soon, as the ribs were callin' my name.

If your on the South Shore and need a BBQ fix stop into Frankie D'S.
It's been there a few years and I finally made there,Like many local eatery's it located in a strip mall. Nothing fancy, but you can't eat fancy.

As usual when trying a new BBQ I order a sampler, tried pulled pork, brisket, and ribs with potato salad and collard greens.Ribs fell off the bone, served dry, with sauces on the side.Good flavor of rub and smoke.Pork was tender and flavorful, brisket also good choice.
potato salad was full of flavor, but my wife and I agree we found a new favorite for greens,a little sweet and a little spicy.

My wife ordered steak tips, mashed and butter beans. Steak was seasoned and grilled to pefection.side were great. Also recommend cornbread.

Overall a good find, with music, rock, blues, on Fri. and Sat.

    Friendly service

This restaurant was very laid back and cool.  I would give them 3.5 stars for their food and their service.  My DP and I loved the aged photos on the walls, and I also thought the staff was very polite and welcoming.  Frankie D's is divided into both a bar and a dining room (which is in the back of the restaurant).  My DP and I chose to sit in the dining room, and good thing, because the guest of honor for a surprise party arrived 15 minutes after we did!  For our appetizer, we ordered sweet, batter-fried corn fritters.  It arrived in a set of four, but we could only eat one each because they are huge.  I have to admit that they were pretty yummy, even without the butter spread.  My date ordered a combo of BBQ ribs and beef brisket.  His entree came with two sides, his choice of mashed potatoes and collard greens.  I tried everything on his plate and was as happy as he was about how everything tasted.  Although I was tempted to order the Frankie D Burger Challenge for myself, I was too daunted to take on the challenge after seeing it delivered to another table first.  Instead, I ordered an original burger, which included fries and coleslaw.  I subbed regular fries with sweet potato fries...mmm.  They could have been slightly crunchier, but the taste was still good, and they weren't too greasy.  The burger was huge, but I'm proud to say that I finished it (minus the bottom bun)...what can I say, I'm a girl who loves to eat. :)

I was so full and satisfied with my meal after leaving Frankie D's.  It's nice to know that if I feel like BBQ next time I'm in the area, I can count on this place to serve up a great meal!

First off, what does the D in Frankie D's stand for?  Frankie Delightful? Frankie Delicious?  Frankie Delovely?  Frankie Dizzying Array of BBQ?  Stop me before I break into song and do a little riff a la Cole Porter...

We hadn't tried it after living in the area for some time as we feared it wouldn't live up to our old standby, Blue Ribbon BBQ in Newton...Sagely, our friend, a big fan of Frankie's,  dragged us in for a drink.  Frankie, the proprietor and nom de same, tends the bar and served up the cocktails.  He is such an, ahem, "D"elight.  He's very friendly and laid back.  We peppered him with questions about the menu and he answered even the zillionth one with a smile and his trademark Zen attitude.  After quickly dashing after drinks, we pledged we'd be back soon to sample the fare.

Flash-forward a week and we've stopped by.  We were told by some ladies on the way out to definitely order the mac and cheese with pulled pork.  I lifted an eyebrow, but my husband's eyes glazed over and I knew it would soon be on my plate.  Try as I may to avoid its gravitational pull, I was sucked into it's orbit and haven't found my way out since.  My commute takes me by the place on my way home, and some nights it calls so loudly to me it ends up in a to go bag on the car seat for dinner.  I haven't yet begun stashing servings of it in the washer or the sock drawer, so I think I've managed to keep my addiction under control.  We also had some steak tips and sweet potato fries, which were equally tasty.  The other Frankie in our life, our Boston Terrier/Pug mix, is a huge fan of the sweet potato fries, in moderation, of course.

We've been back for dinner several times and will definitely keep it in rotation.  We've chatted with the same couple each time we've been in, seems they have a loyal following.  It's a great place to catch a game (sadly, not a Pat's game the rest of the season) and they serve the cutest little bucket of beers and awesome nachos and cheesefries.

First time visiting I had takeout. I Ordered 3 meat combo and 1 appetizer - Burnt Ends (heard they were good).

The burnt ends were very good. In the combo I got their brisket, pulled pork and ribs. The ribs were meaty and had a intense smoky flavor, almost too intense that I felt I wanted to add sauce to even it out. The brisket was the best I've had, again very smoky, but very very tender. When I went to pick up a slice of brisket, the brisket was so tender, it would fall apart before I could transfer it to my plate. The pulled pork was drenched in sauce, although also tender, I think it was too much sauce in the mixture.

For the price I think the brisket is worth it, and maybe the ribs. But to pay about $22 for a 3-meat combo with this quality of meat (especially the pulled pork) is too pricey for me. I would probably never come back, and only because of the price of the combo.

I haven't tried any other meals or foods that they have. They had a very nice place to eat in or sit at the bar. I definitely recommend anyone who loves BBQ to stop in and give em a try!

MY wife and i went here for first time after seeing great ad on popular food critic show ( phantom gourmet) . It was very quiet just one other couple besides us. We sat in back  Dining room. Iordered the full rack of St louis ribs
w/ fries and slaw .  Well the slaw was best part . The ribs  were very dry  .Tasted like they were cooked a week ago  and  just reheated . have had  much better at other  places. My wife had the  texas brisket w/ sweet potatoe fries and broccoli. That was pretty good. The waiter was very nice .
big guy with good attitude.  But the worst part of the whole experience was the LOUD MOUTH BLONDE BIMBO who i think was the manager or even possibly the owner telling her staff how they should do their job.Well they were a couple of tables down from us and i was shocked at how low class and unproffesional she was She used the F**K word 5 times talking to her staff infront of us. Until i spoke up and yelled HEY U MIND WATCHING YOUR
LANGUAGE. I wanted to tell her to go back to the trailer park she came from .
but didnt want to steep to her level.  WONT BE GOING BACK  AND I'll BE SURE TO PASS IT ALONG

First off let me say that I CAN'T believe there are more reviews for this place!! Located in a Stop & Shop strip mall in Kingston MA, this place isn't exactly in the open. However do not let that fool you as this place has the best BBQ that I have had in this area, HANDS DOWN. Obviously Massachusetts isn't the hotbed for this type of food, and Frankie D's brings the taste of the South up here to us "Nawtheners".  It is superb, without a doubt.  The menu is extensive with all sorts of BBQ and Southern fare including ribs, pork, chicken, corn bread, collard greens to name a few.  My favorite is the Beer Can Chicken, which has a DELICIOUS marinade and is slow cooked, ordered for half or full portion.  Absolutely scrumptious.  For two sides I usually get the mac n cheese and corn muffins. Just amazing.  I've yet to sample everything on the menu, but I can tell you the stuff I have had is top notch and a good representation of what you would get down South.

The restaurant itself is although a bit small, but definitely a friendly atmosphere.  The setup includes a main bar out front that tends to attract a loyal crowd, and surprisingly gets very busy on Fri and Sat nights and even has live bands! There are a few table tops next to the bar out front and then there is sort of a back hall that has bench-style booths that are better for a more private dinner setting away from the bar. Frankie D himself is also THE MAN, and will great you every time you walk in as if you were his boy. (You'll recognize him right away, the muscular black dude with the loud bellowing voice!) He's always conversing with his customers and you can tell he really wants you to have a good experience at his place.  Thats another thing that struck me about Frankie D's, the way they take care of their customers. It truely shows you are family when you eat there and this is obviously shown.

So without a doubt, if you like BBQ, and are in the South Shore area, by all means head to this place immediately as you will not be disappointed in the least bit.  Also has a good nightlife and loyal bar crowd (seems younger on Fri and Sat nights, older on other nights) with a full bar to choose from.  With Frankie D's, you can't lose!

Food is okay. Service is horrible. BBQ can be hit or miss.

This restaurant is very easy to find and has great food.  Very reasonably priced and has quite a few selections on the menu.  I tried fried pickles for the first time.......they weren't bad at all.  I had ribs, texas brisket with red bliss mashed potatoes and mac and cheese.  The platter was huge and I had a whole meal to take home for leftovers!  The meat fell off the bone of the ribs and you could cut the brisket with your fork.... add two choices of bbq sauce and you have the perfect bbq. Make a point to check this place out.

Just left Frankie D's.  Best service. Awesome ribs, crazy good sides and great dessert.  Food is far better than the local chain b-b-q, Go! Eat! Enjoy!

I saw Frankie D's on TV Diner a few months ago and decided to take a ride to check it out. During the 30 minute ride from Brockton my wife said she hoped it would be worth the ride.  We both ordered the ribs, collard greens, mac n' cheese for me and mashed potatoes for her. The food was all excellent! Some of the best ribs and mac n' cheese I've had in many years at any restaurant.  Next time we want bbq, we will definitely take the ride to Frankie D's.  The portions were large and the prices very reasonable.

I've enjoyed BBQ all over the USA and Frankie D's hangs with the best of Memphis, KC, Driftwood, TX and Cambridge MA (you know who I mean...).  The food, staff and creativity are great -- the place is immaculate and everyone is happy and upbeat.  Go support your local indy BBQ joint -- you won't regret it!!
