We stopped here on a road trip so my husband could see part of a college football game and were impressed. Our lunch was tasty and the decor is cute. I'd recommend it for those in Minden or passing through.

It is hard to write a negative review, especially when I prefer to be supportive and encouraging.
Yesterday my wife and I rode our bikes into Minden to go to the Farmer's Market, and, low and behold, we developed some thirst. We decided on Margaritas and Francisco's. It's about 4PM, and there is nobody in the place, but they are open. The patio they have out front is in the shade, and it is comfortable there.
We go in, have to find somebody to make the drinks, and then we order them. They deliver them to our table along with our check. I'm thinking, "I guess we're only having one."
Did we get a basket of chips? No, we did not.
Did anybody walk out front and check on us as we had our drink? No.
Did we buss our own table when we were done? Yes, we did.
Were the Margaritas good? Yes.
Are we trying to support a local business? Yes, we are.
Will we be back? Yes, but it won't be our first call. You see, we left, went to a different Mexican restaurant in town and spend $40 on dinner for two, then we rode our bikes home.
Again, it is difficult to write negative reviews, especially when you are rooting for the local businesses to be successful, but it is absolutely critical that the customer is taken care of.
I look forward to being able to write a positive revision down the road a bit. -

Might be best in Gardnerville but average food, good service. Maybe we're just spoiled being from central California (Fresno).

We came on Cinco De Mayo. Great atmosphere, good service.
They started with chips and both red green salsa and a plate of refried beans.
Since it was Cinco De Mayo we ordered the special Margarita. They make a great margarita.
We were in for lunch. They have a big menu. We had combinations that included enchilada's, taco's, and chili relleno's between the two of us.
For the real food test we will come back for dinner. What we had for lunch was good. Overall we are happy to have found a local Mexican restaurant that we will returnt too. So far this is the best Mexican restaurant we have found in the area. The service was great. -

We 'accidented' upon stopping into Francisco's this past Friday night. We were driving through Gardnerville/Minden on our way to Bishop CA when we had car trouble.
We went in around 6pm I'd say and the place was very busy. The wait staff were scurrying around at high speed. We asked for a table in the bar because we didn't want to take a lot of time.
I found the service to be adequate, and the food was fine, but I think the locals must LOVE THIS PLACE because it was extremely busy. In the 45 minute we were there, there was a steady stream of people coming in. It didn't take long before there was a waiting list for at least 3 - 4 tables. Plenty of people finished to make room for more, but there was pretty much a waiting list for almost the entire time we were there. I don't think anyone had to wait more than 10 minutes before a table was available though.
Busy busy busy place. Generally means well liked by locals. If I'm ever stuck in Gardnerville/Minden again, I'd be happy to stop here again.Listed in: Not Local (not Reno/Sparks)

Lunch "Specials," [$6.95-$7.50] spouse had shredded beef enchilada and tostada; mine was two enchiladas [one shredded beef, one chicken]. Chips were obviously store bought; salsa was a bit watery but seemed fresh. The refried beans were soupy [pretty much standard for mid-day meal, they thicken as the day goes on]. Service was fine, attentive with refills on the water. We shared one bottle of suds [two glasses] and the bill was modest; $20.00 including tip. Just about what you'd expect as a gringo.

I've eaten here several times. Although the service is fast and friendly and the wait times for a table short, the food is lackluster and uninspired. The chile rellenos were soggy and the cheese flavorless and the cheese enchiladas overly-dense with the cheese coagulated and beginning to harden, possibly from sitting too long. The chips and salsa were average. I've had many extraordinary Mexican and Tex-Mex meals in other places around the country, but, sadly, Francisco's isn't one of them. I wish it was.

This is our 3rd visit and so far the service, food and atmosphere has been consistent. The portions are generous and priced fairly. Give it a try!

My girlfriend and I have had dinner here several times and where very pleased with the service and food. The special thing to me is the fact that the dinning area used to be Dangberg Meat Company where my father bought all of our family's meat products during my childhood, This is a very nice place to eat Mexican food.
