The commissary was my choice when I worked on the Fox lot. Huge menu and they had good fresh veggie choices, a great grill/griddle with some funny characters manning it, and everything in between. I love eating out in front in the deck area. You eat there often enough, you will see some actor standing behind you in the lunch line.

The dining room is nicer and more pricey, and really more suited for a business lunch, or work/team lunch .

At the news cafe: The chicken looked a little on edge for me. But the coffee was brisk and the sandwiches were good when you need to get something "on-the-go'".

If you happen to be on the Fox lot and hunger hits there's no better place to eat than at the commissary. I normally skip the News Cafe and just pick up one of the many items from the cafeteria section. From fresh sushi to made to order sandwiches, they have everything a hungry studio worker could want.

They used to have a root beer dispenser in the cafeteria section but removed it. Not a moment too soon, it always tempted me to get another fill up. Root beer on tap is something you certainly don't want to call your addiction.

In the mood for a Salad? They have some really loaded up salads for great prices. The dressing/condiment bar is also well stocked and kept very clean. The selection will keep your salad well dressed to your liking.

During the summer months they set up barbeque's outside of the cafeteria and grill up burgers. They get you in and out quickly and the seating area  is great. There hasn't been a time where I didn't run into a writer or director and the occasional star while enjoy lunch.

You can always count on the fox commissary to provide a  fair and balanced lunch.

Before I started working @ Fox I thought the commissary was a grocery store but come to find out it's cafeteria.  Prices are always LOW and I'd say the lowest out of all the dining options on the lot.   It goes..the Commissary, Moe's, News Cafe, then the Dining room... in that order.. from cheapest to most expensive.

Well anyway, @ the Commissary, they always have a good variety of items to choose from, from main entrees like tri tip steaks, lemon herb chicken, , citrus marinated pork, bbq boneless short ribs, quesadillas, etc.  They also have a good salad bar and daily soups for all you health nut peeps.

Brandon C.'s review is quite precise regarding the Commissary.  I particularly love their salad bar and grilled cheese and ham.  Ask the grill chef for an extra side of "bam" on your steak fries.  Yummm!

There are actually TWO commissaries on the Fox lot...the large one (if you drive on the lot from Motor and Pico, go straight to the end and go left.  There will be a walkway on your right, the place is at the end along with the Studio Store AND a sit down restaurant.) in the back and the smaller one (News Cafe) near building 101 close to the entrance to the lot (from the same entrance...just as you enter, bldg. 101 is the second on your left, the commissary is in the bottom on the side closest to Pico).

Both are pretty good...the large one in back has outdoor tables and occasionally has bbq's during the summer.  More of a sandwich, burger, salad and breakfasts (in the morning) kind of establishment.  The restaurant next door is more business-like.  The smaller commissary is a bit pricier but houses such yummies as daily specials (chicken cordon bleu, chinese, sushi, etc.). They have a salad bar (both do) and usually pizza or an omelet bar, etc. in the rear.  Also has outdoor seating...

the commissary is actually a rewarding meal.  seems to be frequented by mostly people who work in plaza and neglected by those who work in 103/101/100 etc...

Well actually there is only one Commissary.  The Fox Commissary has two parts, a sit down restaurant section, and the cafeteria section.  The News Cafe is a quick serve casual food court style place in the NEB/Bldg 100, not 101.  But whatever.  Speaking of which, I'm headed to the Commissary right now, mmmm Philly Cheese Steak Fridays.

That said, if you work or are happen to be on the Fox Lot, the Commissary tends to be more grillish and greasy, but it tastes delicious.  The News Cafe skews towards are fresher healthier crowd, but it's a little more expensive.  It all depends on what you are in the mood for.

My friend gave me a tour of the Fox lot and we ate in the commissary. The food was good and fresh, and un-cafeteria-like, which was nice. Unlike some of the other commissary's, I could see myself eating here often and enjoying the food. It didn't seem like it would get that boring. They supposedly have a hot vegetarian meal everyday too, which is a plus. And they carry a lot of organic snacks and drinks. Thank you Fox!
